Somewhere in Between: Studies in Translocation is an exploratory video installation engaged with the transient, evanescent nature of travel through the representation of seascapes. The work is formed by the extensive journeys undertaken by the artist and captured on video over the last few years. This installation explores shifting realities, the nature of intimacy, and an encounter with time and distances where the video footage is used as metaphor for emotional spaces. The video frames investigate the parameters of physical and emotional effect on people creating an atmosphere that is an intensified, illusory version of reality. Using real-world time and space as a point of departure we are presented with the vision of horizons taken during a six week trans-Atlantic sail from the Canary Islands to the Caribbean.
