SHOPPING, WITH A STORY

Discover a bustling mix of modern stores and boutiques in a former British Royal Navy warehouse.

Towering twin spires that once gave vital information to sailors today beckon shoppers with the promise of more than 20 stores where you can browse and buy keepsakes to serve as mementos of your time in Bermuda. Clocktower Shopping Mall at Royal Naval Dockyard is named for its two formidable clocks set in stately white stone towers. One keeps the time, whilst the other gives the time of high tide — valuable information for members of the British Royal Navy, which once used the Clocktower building as a warehouse. Built in 1856, the walls of this veritable fortress are three feet thick.

The Clocktower building was repurposed in 1990, when it was converted into a shopping mall with just 10 shops. Since then, Clocktower Shopping Mall has expanded and come into its own as one of the most popular shopping destinations in Bermuda. About 20 retailers, including a few outlets of some of the island’s wellknown stores, are spread across the airconditioned lower-level gallery, attracting visitors looking for that perfect souvenir. Clocktower Shopping Mall is open seven days a week.

HAS EXPANDED AND COME INTO ITS OWN AS ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR SHOPPING DESTINATIONS IN BERMUDA.

If you’d like a daily reminder of Bermuda’s beauty, stop at The Bermuda Shop by Carole Holding, where the renowned artist for whom the studio is named sells reproductions of her vivid, cheery works of art on placemats, coasters, notecards, and more. If you are needing a bus ticket to the beach, look no further, as they can be purchased here, too. Delight your senses with the Bermuda Fragrance Collection available at Carole’s store and at The Perfume Shop: Bermuda Blue that captures citrus, jasmine, and lotus in the air with a nuance of sea spray; Bermuda Breeze with hints of wild berries, mandarin, and lovely jasmine, creating a fruity floral; or Bermuda Heat with an aquatic oriental with bergamot, Osmanthus, and sandalwood. All three scents will remind you of Bermuda each time you mist.

Pick up that perfect souvenir at the Bermuda Triangle Shop, where Bermuda-inspired T-shirts, island clothing, costume jewellery, candles, magnets, and hand-painted wood carvings line the shelves. Step inside and get lost.

The Fair Trade Bermuda Shop also offers one-of-a-kind souvenirs from Bermuda and from around the world, like clothing, instruments, arts and crafts, and even household furniture.

Browse the iconic hanging lanterns at Grand Bazaar, a colourful shop that also sells a selection of unique Bermuda gifts such as beach and hand towels, ocean-inspired magnets, hand-painted ceramics, island-living clothing, and handmade silver, fashion, and Bermuda sand jewellery.

The perfume of Bermuda cedar is enough to draw you in to The Littlest Drawbridge Gift Shop, whose name pays homage to Somerset Bridge, the world’s smallest drawbridge.
