Describe your wedding vision I envisioned our wedding to have a classic elegance with a touch of rustic elements here and there. I told myself that when I looked back on our wedding day, I wanted something that would withstand the test of time; something I would love forever. My vision was mostly minimalistic with the focus being on the floral arrangements and of course, us as a couple. Honestly, all I wanted was to just get married to the man of my dreams followed by a huge dance party ;) Describe your wedding day Our wedding, though thrown for a loop with the pandemic, was nothing short of magical. Everything was perfect from the ceremony to the reception. My bridal party and I started the day off in the bridal suite at The Armory to get ourselves ready. Everything was very relaxed thanks to the amazing staff who set it all up. My flowers arrived and basically took my breath away; Tracy at Camille’s had white Peonies flown from Holland just for my bouquet. All the vendors seriously went above and beyond to make our day so special. Our ceremony was so beautiful and we exchanged vows under a floral decorated arch. After that, all there was left to do was eat, dance, and be merry and that’s exactly what we did! Guests finished the night off with some amazing popcorn provided by The Dutch Kernel and a little more dancing. Our day felt like a dream and I wish I could relive it everyday! 10

Your advice to engaged couples My advice to engaged couples—As a wedding vendor, do not wait to book your favorite vendor!! Dates book up so quickly and you don’t want to be without your first choice for your big day! As a bride— I know this is so cliche, but it’s the truth…take a second to take everything in. Look at everything you've worked hard to put together and look at all the loved ones that came to celebrate the love between you and your bride or groom. The day FLIES by, so this brings me to my other piece of advice, hire a videographer. It was so wonderful to be able to look back at our day through the perspective of someone else to relive those special memories. Lastly, don’t sweat the small stuff. Going through constant changes in the middle of a pandemic definitely reminded me of this: the ONLY thing that truly matters at the end of the day is that you are marrying the love of your life.

All Is Fair In Love & War Spring 2021 Stylized Shoot This stylized shoot and article was written by TheWeddingMag and inspired by the Netflix show Bridgerton.

Dearest Readers, The town is abuzz with the latest gossip that Lady Anastasia and Duke Matthew wed at the legendary Palais Royale in South Bend this spring! Lady Anastasia looked ravishing in her ball gown provided by Simply Yours Bridal and Formal Wear, with exquisite silver beading covering the bodice. The skirt of the gown features layers of glitter tulle under the lace fabric. The perfect gown for a duchess-inwaiting! The Lady’s side-swept cascading hair was created by Hair by Kayse. The headpiece was designed by Burns Special Events floral department adding in pops

of color and fashioning a dramatic flair. The bride’s makeup looked stunning with a neutral eye and bold berry lip color done by Ashley Urban Artistry. Duke Matthew looked rather dapper in his all black tux and bow tie, provided by Louie’s Tux Shop, ready to greet his lady down the aisle. This magnificent pair is showing what true royalty looks like! The bride and groom held their grand nuptials at no other than the imperial Palais Royale Ballroom. This venue speaks volumes the moment you walk in, from the detailed 35-foot ceilings and architectural design, to the velvet drapery accentuating the almost floor to ceiling windows! The sophisticated crystal chandelier with gold-leaf will take your breath away!

Burns Special Events helped make this magical day come to life creating a one-of-a-kind dance floor truly fit for the Duke and Duchess. The hedge bushes surrounding the dance floor and sweetheart table provided the perfect amount of privacy for the bride and groom and their guests. The rose wall behind the tablescape was an absolute treasure and highlighted the floral centerpieces, also created by Burns. A few of the flowers used, 28

and to note, were Peach Stock, Sweet Escimo Roses, Candle Light Roses, Pink Lisianthus, Peach & White Ranunculus, Soul Roses, White Anthuriums, Baby Blue & Parvifolia Eucalyptus, Pampas Grass, Plumosas, and Clematis. When the guests were tired from dancing the night away, Burns fashioned a beautiful lounge to rest their feet and enjoy the company of the other invitees.

The scrumptious dinner menu provided by Palais Royale looked like a masterpiece! They started with a stunning standing greens salad with summer vegetables, bacon, heirloom tomatoes and balsamic reduction. Appetizers included: Smoked Salmon Canape on Pumpernickel, Endive Spoon with Honey Goat Cheese and Brunoised Beets, Charred Sirloin Canape with Horseradish Mousse, BLT tomatoes

with Herb Aioli, bacon and spring lettuce, Grilled Crostini with watermelon radish, mascarpone smear and heirloom tomato. The entrees were exquisite! Two plates were served: a grilled filet mignon with duchess potatoes, asparagus and a cabernet demi glace, as well as, Salmon wellington with a sauté of summer vegetables, carrot puree and micro kale.

After eating a rather fulfilling dinner, guests were lavished with an assortment of sweets and desserts. Sweet-Em’s Cake Shoppe baked individual mini red velvet cakes for each guest along with miniature custard pies, fruit tarts, eclairs and a stunning four-tier white cake decorated with gold trimmings. The guests' sweet tooth cravings were instantly fixed!

Jordan & Suzanne Describe your wedding vision The ceremony was held at First United Methodist Church in Laporte, Indiana. The theme of the wedding was Rustic/Chic Elegance. The church was built in the 1800’s and has an abundance of beautiful stained glass windows throughout it. The day of the wedding, on the end of each pew there was a rustic, sunflower display with white tulle and burlap. The reception was held at The Homestead 1835, in New Carlisle, Indiana. It is the most beautiful, refurbished barn created specifically for weddings. Because the couple's wedding took place in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, about 170 guests attended the wedding reception. Suzanne and Jordan said they were shockingly surprised but so blessed to see that many people they loved wanted to help celebrate their marriage in the midst of a pandemic. The newly married couple said, “It was a great evening and a great night, celebrating our marriage, with the people we love on the dance floor all night long.” Shout out to Jim Balanda and 27 Entertainment! Describe your wedding day Suzanne, a 6th grade teacher, wore a Casablanca Bridal Dress with swirling lace patterns swimming along Madelyn’s fit and flare bodice, sitting atop a layer of perfecting satin, chantilly lace and silky charmeuse. This wedding dress with sleeves is effortlessly gorgeous. Her plunging sweetheart neckline adds an element of seduction, while her illusion low-back is lined with a row of buttons that travel up the spine for an inviting finish. “I love the dress because I found it with my mom. It was also so different from any other wedding dress I tried on. It was sexy, but elegant. I just loved every single detail about the dress!” 44

The couple, who live in Lowell, Indiana, have a very unique story about their wedding day and decided to place these details in their vows in front of their close family and friends on their wedding day. The closest of their friends and family know why they celebrate two special anniversaries, one being on February 15th, 2020 and the other on September 19th, 2020. In addition, inside Jordan’s wedding band, Suzanne and Jordan have their initials and both wedding dates carved inside his ring. “One of our favorite memories was right after the ceremony when our friends and families sent us off with bubbles into the party bus. We took a few circles around the block and it was just US, celebrating that we DID IT, while cheersing with a beverage or two.” “We had the best time on the bus, just being us for those few minutes that we had before pictures with family.” “We felt the relief, the excitement, and the realization that we were finally married radiating off of us!” Your advice to engaged couples Because Suzanne and Jordan had 1 year and 9 months to plan the wedding, they both said they felt pretty good throughout the planning process and weren't too stressed. That’s also partially why they wanted a longer engagement. However, both Suzanne and Jordan say they were a little stressed about handling the wedding details leading up to the wedding. The last minute wedding details are what we needed the most help on. “Have helpful friends, who are willing to help, without always giving their opinions,” recommends Jordan and Suzanne.

The snowy winter and gloomy days were the inspiration for this bright and timeless stylized spring shoot. The overall look combines icy blue, gold and blush pink to create a vibrant look for all brides to fall in love with. The table settings include icy blue colors and gold accents such as blue drinking glasses, gold utensils and plates with intricate patterns to balance out the solid colors. The gold lanterns and light pink roses add another level of dimension to the table design. The other tables include a cake table with gold accent draped with a pink chiffon fabric. A sweetheart table was decorated with a blue tablecloth and pink chargers to match the hanging gold lanterns placed behind the bride and groom seating. 50 #T H E W E D D I N G M AG l THEWEDDINGM A G.CO M

Burns Rental’s, Lauren brought the stylized inspiration to life. The icy blue was found in many levels of the design with things like the table runner, plates and the beautiful tufted couch. Burns Rental created pops of color with gold and pink throughout the space with candles, a sheer backdrop and napkins. They also provided the florals for each table setting using pink and white roses, blue hydrangeas, eucalyptus and pampas grass. Burns Rentals’ can turn any open space into a dream wedding.

Heather Beckham Photography organized the stylized shoot to inspire and connect with other local wedding vendors in the area. She has a passion for photography, weddings and most importantly, people. Heather takes the time to get to know you while making you feel like the most important person in the room. She has great attention for details. Heather knows how to pose brides to create a flattering angle in all styles and dresses. Heather Beckham will do more than photograph your wedding, she will give you a great experience from beginning to end.

The trumpet style wedding gown created a beautiful hour-glass shape for model Mikayla Jordan. The gown made up of lace and heavy accents of jewels across the front and back was provided by Greta with Greta’s Bridal and Formalwear.The gown’s breathtaking sheer train with lace edging and a satin underlay was the perfect style for this spring shoot.

Spring is one of our favorite seasons! It’s always a reminder that a new beginning has begun. The starting of this new season is officially solidified when the Kentucky Derby starts! So, in relation to the Kentucky Derby, we wanted to inspire brides-to-be with a themed stylized shoot!

Finding a venue that can hold a large number of guests is sometimes a hard place to find. Porter County Expo Center is a great option for brides with large groups of family and friends. They have four different rooms you can choose from, ranging from 225 guests up to 675! Their newly renovated facility is very modernized and will go well with any type of wedding theme.

Typically many spring weddings use pastel colors for their floral. For this stylized shoot we wanted to showcase how bold, bright colors can liven up your venue space! La Petite Fleuriste did a stunning job with the centerpieces, arch, bouquet and let’s not forget that amazing Kentucky Derby inspired hat! She used an array of floral throughout, including Purple Tulips, Viola Anemone, White O’Hara Garden Roses, Pink Floyd Roses,Tibet Roses, Olives and Baby Blue Eucalyptus, to name a few. 60

SHEdesigns did an amazing job incorporating the Kentucky Derby style, with buffalo plaid and bright bold colors. We loved how elegant and timeless the tablescapes looked with the buffalo plaid linens and amethyst stemware provided by Spare Room Studios. Adding in antique dishes with purple flowers created a nostalgic ambiance. If you are into repurposing old windows, SHEdesigns came up with a unique idea of using one as a table number/seating assignment display!

Jay Marie Salon and Spa did an outstanding job with the bride and bridesmaid’s hair and makeup! Ariana’s, the bride, loose curls pinned to the side was very chic. We loved her smokey eyes and her light pink lip creating a very fresh and angelic look.

I remember meeting Ashley for the first time. It was at a Wedding Mag Bridal show in Valparaiso at The Market. Ashley knew what she wanted, she knew how she wanted her day to go. I met Adam at their engagement session and knew I was going to love working with them. They were so relaxed together and photographed so well. We did their engagement session in Michigan City, downtown and on the beach. Like most weddings in 2020, there were schedule and venue changes and all the challenges of Covid, but Ashley and Adam took it all in stride and had a wonderful wedding planned around it all. After Mandee and Morgan had worked their magic with the ladies at Duneland Falls we all went to Coffee Creek for a few photos and a first look in a chilly but bright afternoon. As soon as I saw Ashleys dress I was sure it was from Something Blue Bridal. The photos say more than I could. Just stunning!

Their ceremony was outside at Duneland Falls and they timed it perfectly for sunset. I just love outdoor ceremonies and during a pandemic it was a welcome option for safety. The reception was beautifully up-lit by Ruben, who also kept the dance floor packed. As a photographer I cannot overstate how much I love good uplighting! Like other 2020 weddings (and more to come), masks and distancing involved adapting to changes, but Ashley and Adam had a fun, love filled day and a final dance with masks in joyful defiance. Nothing could steal their day!

The Maki Ballroom has been a popular wedding venue for several years. A group of local vendors orchestrated this shoot to showcase the reveal of the renewal of the historical ballroom presented by the Grand. Touching on the roots of inspiration from the space famous for weddings of those like Muhammad Ali and Ronald Reagan, while incorporating an uplifting atmosphere of renewal and color, spring and growth. The Venue offers an wonderful indoor venue for ceremonies in the old court house and a large reception space for up to 200 guests. A lovely bridal room and refurbished bar add to the renewed bright space while preserving roots dating back to the mid 1700’s. 84

Describe your wedding vision My vision for the wedding was for it to be warm and relaxed with neutral colors. I loved the idea and wanted the feel of a barn wedding with a little more elegance. Our venue provided us with the perfect set up for my wedding vision. The vineyard had beautiful outdoor scenery which was perfect for all of the fall colors. The inside of the barn was the perfect combination of rustic and elegant. Describe your wedding day Our wedding day was beautiful. It was a chilly, fall day. Our ceremony was outside under the tree at Hidden Vineyard, with friends and family gathered around us. It was also a very emotional day, aside from normal wedding day nerves and excitement. Both of our fathers, and one of my brothers, had passed away the year before. Not having my father there to walk me down the aisle made it a very different experience. There were also added emotions of being a new mom and having our 3 month

old baby boy present at the wedding with us, which made it even more special than we ever could have imagined. We had so much fun in the evening with our friends and family. I literally danced the night away (thank you 27 Entertainment). Your advice to engaged couples Write letters to each other! I personally did not want a first look with my husband. I wanted his first time seeing me in my dress to be when I was walking down the aisle. I still wanted to share a more intimate moment with him prior to that. We wrote each other a letter and read our own right before we went down the aisle. We didn’t see each other but holding his hand and hearing his voice instantly calmed me and had me feeling more ready than ever to walk down the aisle. Those ten minutes were THE BEST part of the day - hands down.
