Our wedding day felt so perfect. Wedding planning was not our favorite and obviously not the most peaceful or stress-free time in our lives. However, the wedding day was so us and felt flawless. We started our day getting coffee from our favorite place, Biggby and they happened to have wedding trivia on their board that morning! We went back to our Airbnb, watched a little Star Wars (another favorite of ours) while preparing things for the day. We then got ready and headed to Lake Michigan to go for our final pre-marital run together – something we greatly enjoy doing together and from the start of wedding planning said we had to get a run in together the morning of. After our run, we parted ways to get ready with our parties and spent the day having fun with the people we love most. We felt so loved on our wedding day seeing so many people that travelled so far and we haven’t seen in years because of COVID. We’re connected with our families and those who have played a huge role in our lives personally and professionally and wanted to honor those people as well on our day.

We envisioned our wedding to be romantic, classic, and simple, yet fun. Our families are scattered all over the US, so there wasn’t really a single location that would work best for everyone. Clark and I love southwest Michigan and envisioned getting married outside. I had driven past 12 Corners a million and one times without ever noticing it. When Clark and I started dating, I immediately noticed 12 Corners and always envisioned our wedding being there. We love being outside together and feel most connected to life and one another in that space. We’re very simple people and envisioned a black/white and some greenery classic look. We spent most of the wedding planning watching Father of the Bride too many times to count for inspiration!

Clark’s sister married us, my sisters stood by my side as MOH and bridesmaid, Clark’s long-time boss stood as his Best Man and our brother-in-law as his groomsmen. Our sweet little nephew our ring bearer, and my best friends our flower girls. This was our special day, but we would’ve never gotten to that day without these important people in our lives and wanted to make them feel as important as they’ve made us feel. Our day felt perfect to us, classic, romantic, and much more than we could’ve ever imagined or planned. ADVICE TO ENGAGED COUPLES It is your wedding! Do whatever it is you want for it. It can be so difficult to feel like you're not including your family or to tune out the millions of opinions that are thrown your way. But it is your day and try to keep that in mind! Set time aside for just the two of you to discuss what it is you want from your day, your vendors, and your families and then communicate clearly with them and each other throughout the process. Wedding planning is stressful, but it shouldn't take away from the incredible end result of joining together and celebrating your love. “Our day felt perfect to us, classic, romantic, and much more than we could’ve ever imagined or planned.”

Small and intimate weddings have been fully embraced the past few years and we are all for it! The venue possibilities are endless when it comes to a smaller guest list and one venue you do not want to miss is Gabis Arboretum at Purdue WithNorthwest.several different locations to have your ceremony and reception hosted including the Meyer Memorial Pavilion, Celebration Rose Pavilion, Window on the Wetlands, Ed’s Oasis, Council Oak Tree, Heron Field, The Sidetrack, and the Railway Depot. Each location holds different capacity rates depending on your wedding size.
For this stylized shoot, we were located at the Railway Depot which is an old-fashioned train station modeled after a 1920’s Railway Depot. With the beautifully done landscaping and a miniature version of various train stations and small towns, this is a beautiful location for outdoor ceremonies and includes an indoor option.

CLP Events created the most elegant tablescape and lounge areas embracing the perfect fairytale tea party. The bold colors of blue, pinks and gold popped against the background of greenery and foliage. We loved the European vibes the tea lounge gave us. La Petite Fleuriste did an amazing job with the floral for this shoot! She incorporated hanging amaranth, anemone, Andrea cremon mum, pink Ohara garden rose, Mila gerpom, hypericum, ranunculus, silver dollar eucalyptus, pampas, Italian ruscus, hot pink carnation, bunny tail and pink Floyd rose.

Talking about the bride, our model, Emiley Hunt, looked breathtaking in not just one but TWO dresses provided by Elegance Wedding and Evening Wear. The first form fitting gown with a plunging neckline was the perfect fit on the bride and the detachable skirt added in a dramatic flair. We loved the short veil so you can really showcase the train of the skirt.
Let’s take a minute and admire the arm bouquet that La Petite created for the bride. Instead of a standard hand bouquet that the bride holds, a winding array of floral going up the bride’s arm is so stunning and unique!
When you have a particular cake design in mind, look no further than Designer Desserts! If you can dream it, they can create it. We loved the bright and bold pink, orange and white cake with a heavy border of floral around the two tiers. The sweets table was so fun and colorful with cupcakes and cookies made by Designer Desserts and popcorn by Chicagoland Popcorn.

The one-of-a-kind jewelry provided by Stephanie Swanson Jewelry Design was gorgeous. The bride wore an 18-karat white gold Double South Sea Pearl and eight and half carats in diamonds, an 18k white gold and six and a half carats in diamonds, 18k white gold and five carats diamond earrings, platinum eternity band with four and a half carats in oval diamonds and a three-carat fancy yellow diamond engagement ring in 18k white gold.
The second gown was equally stunning! The sheer long sleeve ball gown style dress gave off a European princess vibe and was complemented with a starstudded crown, of course.

Since the bride had two different wedding looks, our hair stylist, Amber Otto, styled Emiley’s hair two different ways. The first look with the detachable skirt, Amber did a half updo with loose cascading curls and pinned the face framing hairs to the side. For the second look, Amber did a low updo that still showcased the bride’s loose curls. We loved both looks and they each were the perfect look for each dress. Jaclyn Sarnecki Licensed Makeup Artist created a very natural yet dramatic look on our bride. The rose and copper eyes with a slight berry colored lip added the perfect amount of color to her face but not feeling like her makeup was Whenheavy.you are having an outdoor wedding, you want to make sure you get a wedding photographer that understands lighting. We wanted our day to be fun and beautiful. To us, fun meant not having to worry about coordinating a bunch of moving parts so we found a venue that took care of most of the big ticket items so we could have fewer vendors and also that was naturally beautiful so we didn’t feel like we had to go all out on decorations. ADVICE TO ENGAGED COUPLES My advice would be to figure out what will make the day better/more fun for you and your spouse and focus on those aspects during the planning process and make sure your wedding party and vendors know what is most important to you. Be decisive when it comes to making decisions but be ready to go with the flow if little things go awry. It'll lead to a day that is less stressful for everyone involved! “We wanted our day to be fun and beautiful.”

We went on a very intense backpacking trip through Isle Royale National Park. Evan had been there a few times with his family and really wanted to share the experience with me. We hiked almost 60 miles on trails (but walked many more miles in total than that according to my Fitbit) from one end of the island to the other, carrying 35 lb packs and filtering our drinking water from Lake Superior. He ended up proposing at Mount Ojibway which is his favorite spot on the island and also over the halfway point of our hike across (and at a part where I finally felt confident that we were going to make it through this hike since we had done the hardest parts already).
We went to the courthouse to get married in 2020 and had to postpone our big celebration. When we had our courthouse nuptials, we didn't have anyone come with us so the ceremony was still incredibly special and our first public declaration of our marriage. We laughed, we cried, a large barge made a cameo in the background - it was perfect. We also took group photos after the ceremony instead of a receiving line so we got a picture with everyone who attended our wedding - I will cherish those photos forever!

What is your advice for engaged couples as they are searching for a venue for their wedding day? Our advice would be to find a venue that is willing to work around YOUR (the bride and groom’s) vision and a venue that will (reasonably) help accommodate the couple and create their vision without the added stress and/or expense. Since we (as a couple) own the venue, we have the flexibility to allow couples to truly make their experience their own. We love what we do, and we believe it shows.

The new Downtown St. Joe County Public Library built a Community Learning Center right off Michigan Street in South Bend. This new venue has a ballroom inside along with a beautifully maintained courtyard! The ballroom is on the main floor across from the entrance to the courtyard which is perfect for a reception and/or ceremony.
For this shoot, Burns Special Events created the perfect summer color palette! With the bright colors and wicker furniture, we loved how it embodied a tropical theme. One of our favorite spots they designed was the outdoor lounge area under the pergola. Burns Special Events not only designs your wedding day, but they can also provide the floral!
For this shoot, they created island vibe floral arrangements for the tablescape and lounge area! The bright pink, coral and orange floral matched perfectly with the wicker and gold décor! The floral that was used to create this look were coral charm peony, orange lily, pink lisianthus, coral hypericum, orange tulips, pink larkspur, country home roses, playa blanca roses, and more.

Melissa is my oldest and first real friend — we met in kindergarten. I can’t even begin to describe how honored I was when Melissa not only asked me to do the flowers for hers and Kevin’s wedding this past July, but also to stand up as a bridesmaid. I’ve only played this dual role one other time. While it does add some stress to the day, I wouldn’t want it any other way. The planning process started by confirming my availability across several summer dates. After all, how could I stand up in a wedding if I had to work all day? Once we found a date, I provided a long, detailed list of my favorite vendors across Northwest Indiana. Essentially, Melissa planned her wedding with my dream team of vendors. Her wedding colors – blush, white, and champagne – gave the wedding a romantic summer vibe. The wedding took place in our hometown of Munster, with the ceremony at her childhood church, St. Thomas More. The reception was held at the Wicker Park Social Center, right down the street from the church. While the short commute was one nice perk for this location, Wicker Park also provides an amazing backdrop for bridal party photos. I mentioned earlier the added stress involved in playing double duty as the florist and a bridesmaid. Fortunately, the day was flawless! I was able to start my day with Melissa and the rest of the bridal party getting my hair and makeup done. My amazing team led the reception set-up, so I only had to jump over to Wicker Park for about an hour to add some final touches to the florals. By the time the ceremony started, I was no longer in work mode and was able to fully enjoy my time as a Asbridesmaid.anadded bonus, there was a detail we couldn’t have planned for – the weather. Our vision for our wedding day was soft, simple, and elegant. We wanted to use the venue as our main focus for decoration and sprinkle greenery for an added touch! We envisioned having all of our family and friends in one space, under one roof, dancing the night away. We are blessed to say that our vision came to life!
The best advice we can give to all of the engaged couples is to do what you want for your special day. As easy as it may be to get all wrapped up in the wedding planning, remember why you are getting married, remember what the important things are. Take time outside of the planning to pray! Soak up all the little moments with your fiancé and family. Doing these few things along the way makes the process so much easier and makes it more fun. We highly recommend getting a videographer, you definitely won’t regret it!
Our wedding day was full of family, friends, love, laughter, and memories. It was a beautiful sunny day surrounded by our most treasured family and friends! Our pastor, Gene Troyer, from RESToR Church had done an exceptional job putting into words what marriage should be.
