THE BRIDE'S PERSPECTIVE
DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING VISION
Bobby and I aspired to host a wedding that was unique, fun, and intimate. As we have both worked in the wedding industry and seen countless beautiful weddings while managing the Gillespie Event Center, we wanted to utilize the venue’s versatility to suit our fun-filled vision for our day. Our wedding was the perfect mix of fun, featuring our brunch menu of made to order omelettes, fresh guacamole, chicken and waffles, Bloody Marys and mimosas, as well as the donut flambaé dessert. We also chose varying wildflowers from Poppies for several tall floral centerpieces and numerous bud vases, supplemented by wildflowers grown by the Mother of the Bride. It was such a special opportunity to be able to grow these flowers together with my mom and see all of the beauty they produced throughout the year.
DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING DAY
Our wedding day was more perfect than we could have ever dreamed of! My sisters, my mom and I all got ready together in my Bridal Suite at the Inn at Saint Mary’s. After my first look with my dad, we headed to Fernwood Botanical Gardens, where Bobby and I were
engaged. At Fernwood, Bobby and I had a private first look and vow exchange, which made us so excited for the rest of the day. Shortly after our portrait photos and bridal party photos, we had our ceremony at the Gillespie Event Center, officiated by Bobby’s sister, Vanessa. After our beautiful ceremony, while Bobby and I cut our homemade cake made by my aunt and participating in family photos, guests were able to enjoy the bar and brunch. Our special day was beautiful, short and sweet, and full of meaning – exactly how we wanted it to be!
Our advice to engaged couples would be to enjoy every moment of your wedding day! The night before our wedding, Bobby and I read through well-wishes on cards from my Bridal Shower and notes on guest RSVPs to remind us how fortunate we are to be surrounded by such an incredible group of family, friends, and team. We are so grateful we took the time to do a private first look and vow exchange as well. This not only made us more excited for the rest of the day, but we were also able to focus solely on each other for those moments.
Our wedding day was more perfect than we could have ever dreamed of! It was beautiful, short and sweet, and full of meaning – exactly how we wanted it to be!

When Alyssa and Kevin described their vision, I could immediately sense the deep connection they had to the cozy charm of autumn. They wanted their wedding to exude warmth, authenticity, and the beauty of the season. Capturing their rustic inspiration was a joy—from the earthy tones of burnt orange, deep reds, and golden yellows to the thoughtful details like wooden accents and flickering candlelight. Every corner of the venue felt intentionally designed to complement the fall aesthetic. It was clear they wanted their day to feel both timeless and intimate, and the natural beauty of the setting enhanced their vision perfectly.
Alyssa and Kevin’s advice to future couples is a reminder we all need: don’t let the stress of planning dim the joy of your wedding day. As their photographer, I saw how they overcame the pre-wedding anxiety with thoughtful preparation and trust in their team. They encourage couples to focus on the bigger picture—celebrating love and the life you’re building together. On their wedding day, they embraced the moment, letting go
of any minor details. It was a privilege to document the laughter, love, and genuine joy that unfolded. Their story is proof that when you let go, everything truly falls into place.
Alyssa and Kevin’s wedding at County Line Orchard was one for the books. From the moment I saw Alyssa in her off-the-shoulder Martina Liana gown, it was clear this day would be extraordinary. The rustic charm of the barn, paired with fall’s golden hues, made every shot breathtaking. Kevin and his groomsmen brought a mix of elegance and fun, which set the tone for a vibrant celebration.
The ceremony, unplugged and blending American and Macedonian traditions, was deeply personal. I loved how it allowed their 250 guests to stay fully present and engaged. Later, the barn’s twinkling lights and rich autumn palette created a magical setting for the reception. It was a day filled with love, culture, and family—an unforgettable celebration I was honored to capture.
The ceremony, blending American and Macedonian traditions, was intimate and heartfelt, allowing their 250 guests to fully embrace the moment.

Merry Me Events designed an elegant color palette that transformed the space. The lounge area, framed by floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Elkhart River, featured cream sofas and an area rug with icy blue accents that perfectly complemented the ballroom’s decor.
Merry Me Events not only designs weddings but also curates breathtaking florals. For this styled shoot, they incorporated handpainted and gilded anthurium, locally grown white dahlias, creamy white Clooney ranunculus, winter white stock, dusty miller, feathery painted asparagus fern, bleached bunny tail, and Italian ruscus.
The stationery, created by PaperThread a division of Merry Me Events, added another layer of sophistication, including custom menu cards, monogrammed chair signage, and acrylic table numbers.
The historic charm and modern elegance of Hotel Elkhart provided the perfect backdrop for the thoughtfully curated tablescape, designed by Merry Me Events and exquisite rentals provided by Burns Special Events. The venue’s timeless ambiance beautifully complemented the refined details of the tablescape, from the single piece of greenery tucked into napkins to gold-rimmed candleholders that exuded sophistication. Together with the showstopping floral centerpiece, these elements seamlessly tied into the luxurious atmosphere of Hotel Elkhart, making it the ideal setting for a glamorous winter wedding.

THE BRIDE'S PERSPECTIVE
Ceremony Venue
From the moment we got engaged the planning process started. We always knew we wanted a fall wedding. Our vision was classic and simple. Nothing too trendy that we would cringe at years later. White flowers, classic black and white tuxedos, and touches of gold scattered throughout. We chose a mauve for the bridesmaids' dresses and Anna wore an incredible ball gown. A few things that we knew we wanted when finding vendors were a venue with an indoor/outdoor option, great music and a DJ who knew how to read the dance floor, and exceptionally delicious food that our guests would talk about for years to come. We, of course, wanted to add a few personal touches including a petal confetti toss as we exited the church using only dried rose petals that Andrew had given Anna over their 7 years together, a unique canvas painting guestbook, and adding a signature drink for our pups. In the end, our vision came to life on our wedding day making it the most perfect and memorable night for us and our families.
DESCRIBE
Our wedding day was a gorgeous and unseasonably warm fall day. We were blessed with clear skies and a nice breeze. The ladies started the day off with coffee and Chick-fil-a at the salon to get their glam on. They eventually made it to the church to change into dresses and get a few photos in the intimate vestibule while the groom and groomsmen took some photos outside as guests started to arrive.
Right on time, the beautiful nuptial mass began in the stunning church built in 1841. Photos at the church were a bit hectic as some family members had already headed to the reception venue for cocktails and the lighting in the church was a little tricky. Our drive to the Blue Heron was longer than expected since the President of the United States was in town causing traffic to continuously be redirected. Nevertheless everyone made it to the reception! Dinner and dancing followed cocktail hour, and the night went by in a flash. It was everything we dreamed it would be.
We would definitely recommend hiring a day-of coordinator. Ours helped us so much from making sure we ate lunch, to rounding up the bridal party, to keeping the other vendors in check if they veered too far from the timeline. Also, don't stress about the little things. In the end, no one will remember what stamp was on your invitations, how you addressed your envelopes, what you ate at the rehearsal dinner, or what color pocket squares the groomsmen had. They will remember all the fun they had celebrating the lovely couple. Remember, although making a timeline helps the day go along more smoothly, it is YOUR day. If there is a bump in the road and you are late for pictures or your first dance is a few minutes later than planned, well they can't start without you! Everything will fall into place. Take time to enjoy the moment.

Planning a wedding means diving into all the details, and one of the most impactful (and often overlooked) is your reception tablescape. These tables are where your guests will spend a good portion of your celebration—sharing meals, conversations, and memories— so creating a thoughtful and cohesive design makes all the difference.
A well-designed tablescape blends beauty and functionality. Here’s what to consider:
LINENS THAT ANCHOR THE LOOK
Your tablecloths or runners are like the canvas of a painting—they set the foundation. Soft neutrals are timeless, but don’t shy away from subtle patterns or textures to add depth.
MEANINGFUL CENTERPIECES
Flowers, candles, or even creative elements like seasonal fruits or greenery can make a statement. Just keep them at a height that allows guests to easily see one another.
LAYERED PLACE SETTINGS
Chargers, dinnerware, and napkins in complementary tones bring a polished look to each table. Add personal touches like handwritten place cards or small favors for a welcoming feel.
SOFT LIGHTING
Whether it’s the glow of taper candles or twinkling fairy lights, lighting adds warmth and romance to your table.
While designing your tablescape is exciting, there are a few things to be cautious about:
OVERCROWDING
Avoid overwhelming the table with too many elements. Guests need room for plates, glasses, and, of course, a place to rest their arms.
TOO-TALL CENTERPIECES
Centerpieces should be eye-catching but never block conversations. A good rule of thumb is to keep them below eye level or high enough to see underneath.
PRACTICAL DETAILS
Think about the logistics of dining. Are there enough glasses for the beverage options? Will the décor hold up throughout the meal? These little details make a big difference.
At the end of the day, your tablescape should reflect your style as a couple. Whether it’s a nod to your favorite colors, a meaningful centerpiece, or a touch of whimsy, these details are what guests will remember. Take your time, keep it simple, and enjoy creating something special that feels like you.
Designing a tablescape can feel overwhelming, but that’s where a wedding designer steps in to save the day. These professionals have an eye for detail and the experience to know what works—and what doesn’t. They understand how to balance beauty with practicality, ensuring your tables not only look stunning but function seamlessly for dining and conversation. From selecting cohesive elements to managing the logistics of setup, a wedding designer has your best interest in mind, taking the stress off your plate (pun intended!) so you can focus on enjoying your celebration. Trust their expertise— they’re there to make your vision a reality.

Photographing Sarah and Payton’s wedding at Coppes Commons was a true joy. From the moment we worked with them at their engagement session, we knew their wedding would be something special. Every detail of their day was intentional and heartfelt, reflecting their deep faith and love for family.
One of the most moving moments was when Sarah’s Maid of Honor sang a worship song while both families gathered in prayer over the couple after the exchange of rings. It was such a beautiful expression of their values and connection to their loved ones. Another unique touch was their board game and hors d'oeuvres hour, which replaced a traditional cocktail hour. Capturing these moments of laughter and connection made their wedding as fun as it was meaningful.
Sarah and Payton’s wedding day was a celebration filled with joy and laughter. Their excitement and giddiness were contagious, making every moment so much fun to capture. Even when the day had its minor hiccups, their positive energy and focus on the big picture never wavered.
Their friends and family brought so much warmth and love, both in the planned events and in the candid moments throughout the day. The balance of class and fun was perfect, creating a vibrant and uplifting atmosphere.
Golden hour portraits were a dream to shoot, with perfect lighting and weather that highlighted the beauty of their venue. And their bubble sendoff was a photographer’s delight— elegant, playful, and utterly timeless.
From Sarah and Payton’s experience, one of the best pieces of advice for engaged couples is to not stress over every small detail. Planning a wedding can be overwhelming, but finding balance is key. They recommend taking the time to enjoy the engagement phase before diving into planning. Celebrate this unique season of your life with loved ones and soak in the excitement of having a fiancé(e).
Their perspective is a beautiful reminder that at the end of the day, the most important thing is marrying your best friend. Everything will come together beautifully, and the love and joy of the day will outshine any small imperfection.
At the end of the day, everything will be perfect because you'll be married to your best friend.

You’ve said, “I do,” kissed the love of your life, and walked down the aisle as newlyweds. Now, it’s time for the real celebration— your reception! A well-structured timeline can make the difference between a seamless evening and one that feels like a chaotic blur. Here’s your go-to guide for how the night typically flows, with a few tips to keep things fun and stress-free!
As you and your bridal party take photos, your guests get their mingle on. Cue the signature drinks, tasty hors d'oeuvres, and light music. Pro tip: Consider appetizers that are easy to eat while standing— nobody wants to juggle shrimp skewers and a wine glass! It’s showtime! Your DJ or emcee will hype up the crowd as you and your bridal party make a grand entrance. Whether you’re strutting in to Taylor Swift or gliding in gracefully, this is your moment to kick off the night’s energy.
Time to feed those hungry guests! Speeches from the parents, best man, or maid of honor often happen during this time. Dinner service can be plated, family-style, or buffet—just make sure your timeline allows the kitchen and staff enough time to serve everyone efficiently.
Cue the tissues! This is when you and your partner share your first dance as a married couple. Followed by parent dances (if you’re including them), these are moments everyone loves to watch.
A timelinewell-structured can make the betweendifference a seamless evening and one that feels like a chaotic blur.
While a timeline is helpful, remember that no event ever sticks 100% to the schedule. Trust your coordinator, DJ, or planner to handle the details, and focus on soaking in every magical moment of your reception! It’s your night, after all.
Now it’s time to hit the dance floor! Your DJ or band will keep the energy high with a mix of crowd-pleasers and your must-have tracks. This is also a great time for your photographer to capture candid moments.
Let them eat cake! Whether you’re slicing into a towering confection or serving mini desserts, this is a sweet break for guests before they dive back onto the dance floor.
If you’re doing a bouquet or garter toss, now’s the time to gather your single friends and add a little fun to the night. Or, substitute with a less traditional activity like a thank-you toast or late-night snack bar reveal.
Close out the night with a final song that gets everyone on their feet—whether it’s a slow jam or a high-energy anthem. Then, send your guests off with sparklers, confetti, or a tunnel of glow sticks for a picture-perfect exit.
