Northwest Arkansas Travel Guide - Best of NWA Top 10 Lists | August - October 2019 Issue 15

Page 1

---- WELCOME ---Welcome to this 15th issue of The Northwest Arkansas Top 10. This is an amazing time to be visiting or living in Northwest Arkansas. Situated in the stunning Ozark Mountains, NWA boasts some of the most challenging and beautiful mountain bike trails in the country, fishing and all manner of water sports are available, RV camping, and traditional camping are plentiful, but for those who don’t feel like roughing it, Airbnbs and Bella Vista Vacation rentals also abound. If you’re looking for the perfect weekend getaway, check out the fantastic cabins of Eureka Springs. They are just the thing to help you wind down after a stressful week or to help you celebrate that special or romantic occasion. Many feature hot tubs where you can relax your muscles and calm your soul. In this amazing little Alpine-like village you can shop until you drop, dine in unique restaurants, and find many exciting and unusual things to do. The famed Arkansas Razorbacks are gearing up for another wild and exciting Football Season, and our pubs and sports bars are all primed and pumped with many craft beers on tap and pub fare that tastes like award-winning food. Grab just one burger, and be prepared to become a regular. Kids are going back to school and our many Fall festivals including huge craft fairs are on the horizon. This is a great way to get out, get to know your neighbours and experience some of what Northwest Arkansas has to offer. Downtown Rogers is on the move. It is HOT, HOT, HOT, and the super high vibe is electrifying. With the opening of Heirloom (a world-class restaurant), Onyx Coffee lab and several other top new businesses, Rogers has ratcheted it on up to an entirely new level. Make it a point to take a stroll down its old brick streets to feel the energy and see for yourself what we’re talking about.

While we’re on the subject of food, the chef driven food trucks of the area are also multiplying like crazy. Want some amazing specialty cuisine prepared by some of the best chefs in the area? Try the delicious offerings cooked and served up out of our amazing food trucks. Most have a small shaded area where you can eat, or all have great take out systems. Typically the portions are larger, but the prices are very reasonable. If for some reason you haven’t tried one yet, do yourself a big favor and do so soon. Northwest Arkansas has a large and diverse pool of talent. In fact the image that you see on the cover of this magazine was captured by an 11-year-old boy, Colin Barrett. Colin is an avid photographer and aviation enthusiast. He snapped the photo while riding in an adjacent plane to the two incredible Game Composite planes, GameBirds. They are American single-engine, two-seat, aerobatic aircraft. These amazing planes are manufactured right here in Bentonville, AR. New people to the magazine always want to know how we determine the Top 10 in any given category. We use a proprietary algorithm involving online reader polls, thousands of reviews and the real time covert experiences of our own NorthwestArkansas.com street team. This approach is quite accurate in yielding the very best in any particular category. Thank you so much for your support. Our readers are our lifeblood. We owe our continued success to you. If you think of a category that you think would be a great addition, please get in touch with us. We’ll be happy to consider it for a future issue. All good things,

New restaurants are opening in NWA at a breakneck speed, and some of them are nothing short of incredible. Opening with new concepts, new people and awesome food, these restaurants offer exciting new menus that are delightfully different, yet delicious down to the very last bite.

NWA Travel Guide l TOP TEN 3

NORTHWEST ARKANSAS Approximately 4 million visitors per year make the trip to Northwest Arkansas, and there are no signs that traffic is slowing down. If you are asking why, you’ve probably never been to this booming area! There are tons of amazing restaurants, things to do and places to stay in Northwest Arkansas. The Northwest corner of Arkansas is home to a number of towns and smaller communities, which together are commonly referred to as Northwest Arkansas or NWA. Bentonville, Bella Vista, Eureka Springs, Fayetteville, Lowell, Rogers, Siloam Springs and Springdale are the cities covered in this recently researched and up-to-date Top 10 NWA Travel Guide. Long known for its natural beauty and clean Ozark Mountain air, Northwest Arkansas has morphed into a cultural and business center rivaling the best in the world. The recently completed 36-mile Razorback Greenway, a primarily offroad trail system, links together six NWA cities and many community destinations including Walmart, J.B. Hunt, and Tyson Foods corporate headquarters. Additionally, the trail system also links to Arts and entertainment districts, historic sites, parks, residential communities and shopping areas. NWA invites its visitors to enjoy: • Awe-inspiring Museums Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, a dazzling, world-class 1.2 billion dollar museum. • Breathtaking Natural and Manmade Wonders Beaver Lake, Ozark Mountains, Hiking & Biking Paradise • Championship Level Cycling Walking & Hiking trails Award-winning bicycle friendly communities, Fayetteville, Rogers, Bentonville
