A fall 2025 groundbreaking is planned for the Freshwater Research and Innovation Center (FRIC), a partnership between NMC, Discovery Pier (above), Traverse Connect, 20 Fathoms and Michigan Technological University on West Bay. The state of Michigan has awarded $15 million to the construction of the Freshwater Research and Innovation Center.
The Center will drive new blue economy growth, creating high-value, year-round jobs in freshwater and marine technologies.
