Welcome to 2024 Bluegrass from the Forest
The Kristmas Town Kiwanis, with the support of community sponsors, welcomes you and your family to the 19th Bluegrass from the Forest!
We are delighted to gather again at the South Mason Soccer Park –what a beautiful location! We're sure you will agree that the 15 acres of festival and camping area have been a great addition to this event.
Organized by the Kristmas Town Kiwanis, this event raises money for local youth programs, supports tourism and brings talented artists from all over the country to perform in Shelton – your participation is integral to making this possible. Thank you!
A huge thank you to all the volunteers who help make the strings strum. Let’s play some Bluegrass!
Where there’s Bluegrass, there’s jamming!
WELCOME! If you’re new to bluegrass festivals, you should know that one of the best things about them is the jamming. Out in the camping area, folks set up for the weekend and settle down for some pickin’ and grinnin’. You’re welcome to wander through and listen to the music. Some pickers are quite talented while others are just beginning, but everyone finds their level.
Bluegrass jamming is special because people of all backgrounds come together for music. They don’t care what you drive, how old you are, or whether you’re in fashion. They only care if you can pick or sing. This music has no borders. There is a wonderful body of traditional bluegrass tunes that are universally known across the country. You can show up at any festival and these tunes will be played. Sure, there are plenty of new tunes all the time, but it’s wonderful to play music with strangers who already know many of the tunes. Enjoy!

Slow Jam with Marv
Saturday 12:00 PM with Marv Sobolesky Playing music is a process of joyful growth, and we all need time to learn. If you are new to an instrument or haven’t had a chance to pick with others, this is an opportunity to play in a safe group setting. Popular fiddle tunes are chosen for the session. They are first played slowly and then repeated at a faster tempo. Learning to play songs cleanly and on-beat, along with gradually stepping up the tempo on the second try is one of the best ways to improve your musical chops.
