Renaissance East of England Museums SHARE their expertise SHARE is a resource for all museums in the East of England. Drawing on expertise from around the region, it provides practical training and personalised advice across three interconnecting areas: Caring for collections; Engaging the public; Governance and management. SHARE can be used to answer queries, develop new projects or assist with Accreditation. It is increasingly recognized that not every museum has every skill in house. The sharing of skills between museums is an obvious solution but it can be difficult to know who to call to get just the support that you need. Renaissance East of England has solved this problem by setting up the SHARE network. SHARE provides flexible solutions. Support can be offered by e-‐mail, through arranging a training session, or by a visit from someone in the SHARE network who’s been there before and can work to find a practical solution. The emphasis is on providing an easy way to tap into the region’s resources so that the region’s museums can develop in new and interesting ways. Engaging with the network is made as simple as possible through a contact list of sub-‐regional SHARE advisors. They act as an initial point of contact for all enquiries and then organize the appropriate help. The service is provided free of charge. The benefits of such mutual support are clear: it provide a bespoke, cost effective solution for all museums in the region. The provision of support and development rather than promoting the ‘buying in’ of service will also provide a long term benefit through the up-‐skilling of the regions museums as a whole.
