North West Museums Key Data

Francoise McClafferty & Catriona West

Key Demographics: at a glance The aim is to build a solid evidence of the demographic makeup of the region’s popula8on and understand it in rela8on to museum provision and museum use The Northwest region has made significant progress in the last 20 years. Skills levels have risen and overall prosperity has increased. But important challenges s>ll remain such as ill health, worklessness, produc>vity and social inclusion. On environmental sustainability we have made rela>ve progress to the rest of the UK. Regenera>on in our ci>es has been impressive, but we s>ll have areas of considerable depriva>on. (NWDA , Principles and Issues Paper, April 2009)
