A WORD FROM THE DIRECTOR At the Center for Leadership Studies, our goal is to prepare students for influence at the strategic level across a variety of fields. Our graduates will write the books others are reading and guide the organizations others are copying. These accomplishments will happen the “Northwest Way,� characterized by spiritual vitality, academic excellence, and social engagement. Our students study in a mix of classes held oncampus, online, and on the road. Our Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership will prepare you to be a ground-breaking scholar/practitioner capable of conducting and publishing original research. Your work will help develop new theory and practice in the leadership arts. The degree is the ideal preparation for an academic career, or any other calling requiring high order analytical thinking, problem solving, and insightful research. The Ph.D. requires a total of 72 credits. The coursework and dissertation process are structured for full-time students to complete the degree in four years. Our Ed.D. in Organizational Leadership will equip you to take your leadership to the next level as a practitioner/scholar. You’ll be trained to analyze theory and research methods and apply both to current challenges in your field. The degree is great preparation for the leader who wants a solid research foundation for generating real world results, while opening the door to broadened influence through teaching. The Ed.D. requires a total of 60 credits. The coursework and dissertation process are structured for full-time students to complete the Ed.D. in three years. INTERDISCIPLINARY INSTRUCTION
The CFLS offers three types of financial assistance. In the first year, every student is eligible for merit-based funding. Nonprofit employees can qualify for a discount matching their employer’s contribution. Also, grants are available for dissertation research and travel to professional presentations.
Our programs offer small, diverse cohorts. Students learn alongside peers who encourage and challenge each other to grow.

TWO DEGREE OPTIONS The Ph.D. focuses on scholarship, original research, and the generation of new theory. Our Ed.D. is shorter and more practical, helping students apply existing research to problems in the field.
THREE CONCENTRATIONS Students have access to three concentrations: Leading Ministry Organizations, Higher Education Leadership, and Business Leadership and Consulting.
HYBRID DELIVERY Students study in a mix of classes held oncampus, online, and “on the road” at major, field-specific professional conferences.
