NU offers select master’s programs in an online format. Online programs are structured to allow students to complete coursework at a pace that fits best with their schedules.
Many of NU’s master’s programs are offered on-campus. Our on-campus programs allow you to learn in an inspiring environment alongside your peers through engaging, in-person class sessions.
NU’s HyFlex programs are available for select on-campus master’s programs. The HyFlex option allows students to choose whether they will attend the set class sessions in-person, at our Kirkland campus, or remotely via video.

Our Master in Teaching (MIT) program is designed for those with an undergraduate degree who’d like to get their teaching certificate. This degree will help you accomplish two goals simultaneously: earn your teaching certificate and master’s degree. Best of all, you’ll do it in less than one year.

CLINICAL MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING DEVELOP PROFESSIONAL IDENTITY AND SKILLS At Northwest University, we will equip students to become compassionate professional counselors who are able to integrate counseling theories with clinical skills. Graduates of our program work in various clinical work settings across the nation, including private practices, hospitals, and community mental health agencies.

EXPERIENCED AND COMMITTED FACULTY
Students will learn in a richly diverse cohort environment. The program will prepare students to develop multicultural counseling competencies as students engage with diverse cohort members, and work with varied client populations.
Our diverse faculty integrates their experienced clinical work into the coursework. Many faculty are also licensed practitioners in the field and contribute scholarly work in the counseling field. They have presented in national and global conferences and workshops. Students will learn and be mentored by the faculty throughout their time at Northwest University. Our students will receive weekly clinical supervision from faculty during their field training experiences.

During an international trip in the first year of the program, students immerse themselves to experience new environments and populations, become more culturally competent, and grow in cultural self-awareness.

Online students start with a week in Oxford, England, keep in touch via class, social media and other means, and end with a trip to another location. On-campus students meet one evening per week, organize potlucks, and study together in our grad school building within walking distance of Lake Washington.
You’ll graduate with knowledge and practical skills you can apply to real jobs in the field. The program includes fieldwork, a six-credit certificate in Outcomes-Oriented Program Management (which can also be taken as a stand-alone graduate certificate), and opportunities to network with and create projects for existing nonprofit organizations.

DATA ANALYSIS AND RESEARCH PSYCHOLOGY UNTANGLE THE DATA. Every set of data tells a story, and some of these stories can impact people’s lives in positive ways. With Northwest University’s Master of Science in Data Analysis and Research Psychology, you can build your analytical skills and use them to help people. This two-year, online program will prepare you to pursue a career in the fast-growing fields of research analytics, user experience analytics, or program evaluation.

CENTER for LEADERSHIP STUDIES
GREAT LEARNERS MAKE GREAT LEADERS. The Center for Leadership Studies (CFLS) is home to Northwest’s interdisciplinary PhD and EdD programs in organizational leadership. These degrees prepare students to lead the leaders of our day. Designed for working professionals, the Center’s programs make it possible for PhD students to graduate in four years and EdD students to graduate in three years.

The CFLS offers five types of financial assistance, including a first-year grant, a matching discount for nonprofit employees, two research grants, and a new student referral tuition credit.

TWO DEGREE OPTIONS
Each semester features core, concentration, and dissertation classes so students are working on their dissertation research and writing skills from day one.
The PhD focuses on scholarship, original research, and the generation of new theory. Our EdD is shorter and more practical, helping students apply existing research to problems in the field.
FOUR CONCENTRATIONS Students have access to four concentrations: leading ministry organizations, higher education leadership, business leadership and consulting, and interdisciplinary leadership.
