HE CAME FOR A CAREER. HE LEFT WITH A PURPOSE. After 12 years in project management, Justin Monuteaux began to ask if there was more to life. That single question led him to the master’s in counseling program at Northwest University. Now, he has a growing counseling practice that helps struggling couples to rebuild their marriages. “Today my work has real meaning. I love what I do. It’s amazing to watch couples come in with little hope and leave with a stronger marriage than they’ve ever had before.”

A HEART TO HELP THOSE IN NEED. Auston Ellis found himself with little direction following his undergraduate degree. After being recruited to work with young children suffering trauma, he learned what true happiness looks like in the face of life’s obstacles. His subsequent pursuit of pediatric psychology at NU’s PsyD program has spanned many life milestones—marriage, a medical diagnosis, and the birth of his son. Throughout, PsyD professors encouraged him to find his unique style as an emerging psychologist, within a professional community that has become family. “My cohort and professors have walked every step of the way with me and will always hold a special place in my heart.”

“The master’s in counseling degree that I obtained from Northwest University was a very strategic choice for me. Besides providing me with a great education, including many practical skills that are critical for doing counseling work with people, the program created an atmosphere of learning that was provided in a multicultural environment and I enjoyed it a lot. Being a refugee myself, this was very important for me.” - Andrew Kritovich, MA Graduate
“What I valued most at Northwest University were the relationships I built, not just with my cohort members but also with my professors. The program’s focus on culture and social justice helped ground me in my passion to work with victims of human trafficking. I graduated and moved back home to Mumbai, India, and began work alongside survivors of sex trafficking with International Justice Mission.” - Shalini Newbigging, MA Graduate
“I was drawn to Northwest University’s PsyD program because it incorporated the Christian faith, multiculturalism, and social justice. The program felt intimate because of the cohort model, small classroom sizes, and the professors caring deeply for each student. The CSBS department felt like an extension of my home.” - Ajab Amin, PsyD 5th Year Student
“Getting my degree at NU has been an incredible experience. I have been challenged and have seen myself grow—academically, emotionally, and spiritually. I am grateful for the high-quality faculty and staff at Northwest and am especially grateful for their humble and caring attitudes toward students. This journey has been life-changing and has taught me how to love more deeply and effectively.” - Sarah Hanson, PsyD Graduate
