A PLACE TO BELONG Undergraduate Admissions
SHE LOOKED FOR A SCHOOL AND FOUND A HOME When you ask current students what they like most about NU, their answers are strikingly similar: the community. Our community is more than just beautiful buildings. It’s about a connection. A feeling. An indescribable something from deep within your heart that says, “This is where I belong.” You’ll sense it in the caring approach of our admissions counselors. You’ll experience it when you first step onto our beautiful 56-acre campus. You’ll notice it in conversations with your professors. You’ll feel it with each growing friendship. You’ll hear it in worship as your voice rises with others in Chapel. Community. It’s what transforms a collection of buildings and people into a home. Your home. Welcome to NU.
WHY NORTHWEST UNIVERSITY? There are lots of great reasons to choose NU. We list several of them here to provide a brief overview of all that we have to offer. But words will never communicate the richness of our university experience. For that, you’ll just have to visit. We’d be glad to arrange a campus tour and hope to meet you soon.

SHE HAS A BRAIN. SHE HAS A SOUL. WE ENGAGE THEM BOTH
.
Most universities see you as a brain to be filled. At NU, we take a more holistic approach to education. Yes, we challenge your intellect with excellence and rigor. But we also strive to connect you more deeply to Jesus Christ. We don’t ignore your spiritual life. Instead, we celebrate it. We nurture it. We want to educate all of you.
FAITH THAT DEEPENS Research shows that youth are most likely to lose their faith while in college. But NU is not like most other universities. Here, you’ll be encouraged and challenged in your spiritual life like never before. At chapel services. By the new friends you make. By the questions you tackle in class. By the mission trips you experience. And by the image of Christ you see in the students and faculty around you each day. Chapel Chapel meets three times each week to challenge, motivate, and encourage the Northwest University community through dynamic worship, inspirational messages, and fellowship within the body. Pursuit A student-driven, student-led worship service that provides another opportunity to experience the presence of God. Though not required, over 200 students show up for this powerful worship service each week.
NU students are changing the world, one heart at a time. And it begins with their own. They find a deepening faith in small group bible studies where life is shared and faith is intimately expressed. Students are changed in Chapel through communal worship. This inner change is then lived out in service to others. NU students have rallied around the abolition of human trafficking, raising over $200,000 to fight against it. They serve at homeless shelters, sing at prisons, and find countless ways to express the transforming love of Christ.

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
WHAT HE LEARNED HERE HE’S TAKING TO OXFORD As a young boy in Nigeria, Augustine Ajuogu saw his classmates die of disease. It set him on a course to study biology and one day create vaccines to save lives. When he graduates from Northwest University, he’ll attend Oxford and pursue his Master in Immunology. “My professors set high standards. And they held me to them.” How can NU serve you?
2 GRAMMYS. 30 GOLD RECORDS. AND HE’LL TEACH YOU EVERYTHING HE KNOWS. Steve Smith has recorded with the very best—from Stevie Wonder to Garth Brooks. And now you can learn from the best. As the Creative Director of Northwest University’s Creatio program, Steve will teach you the ins and outs of the music business that can only come from a 37-year recording career. If you’re interested in audio engineering, you’ll learn in a state-of-the-art recording studio from a man who has earned a wall full of hardware. There’s no need to go to LA to start your music career. It can all begin for you right here in Kirkland.
TRACIE DELGADO
“ Northwest is a small college
where you are able to interact with professors more often and your professors know who you are. It’s a great environment and you can be open about your faith in and outside the classroom.”
JACK WISEMORE
“
I think Northwest provides a great environment for students to become mature believers so they can serve Jesus effectively, regardless of their particular occupation. I think students and parents may initially be attracted by the spiritual atmosphere at Northwest, but I think they may be surprised by the academic rigor that is available here as well. You don’t have to choose between intellect and spirit.”
FAITH. FRIENDS. FUN.

A GREAT LOCATION NU is surrounded by recreational opportunities. We’re a quick walk to the shores of Lake Washington. You can hit the slopes in less than one hour. We’re minutes from the shops, cafes, and vibrant city life of downtown Seattle—recently ranked the second most liveable city in the U.S. You can head out for a major sporting event or concert and return to the serenity of our campus. We’re also neighbors to some of the best companies on the planet, like Microsoft, Google, Nordstrom, Costco, Boeing, REI, and Amazon. It’s why Forbes recently ranked our region as one of the best in the U.S. for finding a good job. This could have real implications for possible internships and employment opportunities.

THE WORLD IS YOUR CLASSROOM Jesus Christ calls us to serve others. At NU, we take His calling seriously. In fact, over half of our students are required to study abroad as part of their majors. They’ve served in orphanages in China and Cambodia. They’ve worked in clinics in India. They’ve built homes in Guatemala and shared Christ in Uganda. Why do we go to all of this effort? Because reading about other cultures can inform you. But being immersed in those cultures will change you forever.
WATCH OUR EAGLES SOAR We compete in the Cascade Collegiate Conference of the NAIA. Our athletes have won conference championships and have been selected as Academic AllAmericans. But our coaches also teach the importance of winning off of the field. They understand that—long after a student’s athletic career is over—it is lessons of character that will shape these men and women throughout their lives.

BUILDINGS DESIGNED TO BUILD YOUR CAREER
The Health & Sciences Center is where biology, pre-med, and nursing students spend much of their time. They learn in cuttingedge labs with professors who have real-world experience. It’s not all work. There’s also a fireplace on the first floor where students can gather and catch up with friends.
Inside the Barton building is our Creatio Music Industry program. Program. It houses several state-of-theart music studios and is the only four-year accredited school in the Northwest to offer in-depth training in the recording arts and music industry business.
MARGARET AKERS
“I considered lots of different schools—many of them were larger universities. But I am so thankful that I chose Northwest University. The smaller class sizes have allowed me to spend time with my professors and get an even better education. In fact, one of my professors helped me to get an internship at Tooth & Nail— an independent record label in Seattle. Doors have opened up for me here that I never imagined.”
BRADY BEARD “All of the professors at NU require excellent scholarship in their classes. This sense of excellence impacted my decision of when and where to apply to graduate studies. The faculty members in the College of Ministry have challenged me intellectually and spiritually to continue in the pursuit of biblical studies. Also, being a part of NU student life allowed me to interact with students who were interested in similar studies, including my friend JP O’Connor, who is a good friend, fellow NU graduate, and future classmate at Princeton with me this fall.”
HOW TO FUND YOUR FUTURE Your education is an investment that will pay dividends for the rest of your life. At NU, it’s more affordable than you think. We have several options to help you fund your education.
