When you leave Yarmouth, you bring NYA with you. Whether you spent one year, or six or seven on NYA’s campus, your NYA education was multi-dimensional. In the classroom, you delved into a range of academic subjects. You learned how to be a good teammate. Perhaps you found a creative outlet on the stage or in the art studio. In each context, you learned about perseverance, responsibility and respect, and formed enduring relationships with your classmates, teachers and coaches. The value of an NYA education, however, extends far beyond the years you spent on this beautiful campus. In ways both quiet and overt, you’ve brought these life lessons and NYA with you as you’ve made your way in the world. Whether you graduated last year or many years ago, you are an important member of the NYA community. We hope that you will stay connected to NYA and honor your history here by supporting the school in ways that are meaningful to you.

why giving matters Quality Your support allows NYA to continue its tradition of excellence and provide each child with an outstanding education by attracting and retaining the best teachers and most qualified students. Your participation ensures that NYA has the programs and facilities that support a broad and challenging educational experience. Access The cost to educate each child at NYA is higher than the tuition, as it is at virtually all independent schools in the U.S. Charitable contributions enable us to provide financial aid and scholarship assistance to qualified students and enhance the NYA experience for all students.

Every gift, no matter the size, ensures that NYA will continue to develop independent thinkers who value learning, creativity, and the intellectual process throughout their lives.

how to give Our goal is to have every graduate participate to the extent that they are able. We ask you honor your connection and include the Academy in your charitable giving each year. NYA offers a variety of ways for you to be involved philanthropically: The Academy Fund The foundation of NYA’s culture of philanthropy, The Academy Fund provides our school with unrestricted funds to support all areas of the operating budget.

Leadership Giving NYA’s Leadership Giving Circles recognize donors who make aggregate gifts of $1,000 or more from July 1 to June 30. Membership brings with it invitations to special events and special recognition in the appropriate giving circle. If you can consider a gift at the leadership level, please contact the Development Office.

Planned Giving Planned gifts come in many forms, from bequests to charitable trusts. Some options provide income to you and your family; others may have significant tax benefits; and all of them ensure healthy future support for NYA. If you are interested in learning more, please contact the Development Office.

NYA Soiree Each spring, NYA hosts a special fundraising event, NYA Soiree, in support of financial aid and other school-wide initiatives. The event, supported by a team of volunteers, is a mainstay of community and fundraising activities.

Class Agent Program Every class benefits from the help of Class Agents. This active group of alumni volunteers serve as ambassadors for their class. They facilitate communication between the Academy and classmates and help organize special events. Additionally, this group encourages classmates to join them in supporting The Academy Fund.

ways to give Cash or Check: the most immediate and direct way to support the school. Securities: can result in significant tax benefits to the donor. Matching gifts: offered by many employers. Ask yours if it offers this benefit. Donor-advised funds: a flexible and easy way to support the school.

“I have loved being part of the NYA experience, not only as a student, but as a teacher and coach. Teaching art as well as coaching lacrosse and cross country has allowed me to share my passions with a new generation of panthers. I invite all alumni to stay in touch and come back to campus for a visit.” ~Tim “T-Mac” McMahon ‘93

The Alumni Association works to strengthen the school and its programs and to promote school spirit and a sense of community through active volunteer participation. The Class Agent program serves as a support system for the Alumni Association. All alumni are invited to participate as Class Agents. As a Class Agent, you will have the opportunity to connect with school leadership and hear updates on important school related-topics.
