Bidding Rules and Information Please understand that we cannot interrupt the tabulation process to check people out early! Thank you for participating in this event. We appreciate your support! 1. You will receive a registered bidding number when you arrive. You will use this number to purchase game and raffle tickets, and live auction items . Please be aware that you are responsible for all purchases attributed to your number. Do not allow anyone else to use your bidding number. 2. The Live Auction will begin at about 6:45 pm. Simply raise your paddle to bid. Volunteer spotters will help to ensure that your bid is recognized. Don’t be shy! 3. The Auctioneer reserves the right to pass on an item he feels has not reached a reasonable price. His decision is final and is made in the best interest of the donor and the Academy. 4. All sales are final, and everything is “as is.” No refund or exchange will be allowed except where specified by the donor. Please redeem or use gift certificates and gift cards promptly. All gift certificates must be redeemed within the parameters outlined on the certificate, or within one year of this event. We cannot be responsible for the value of any such items that are not used in the event that the merchant ceases operations. 5. Payment by cash, check, MasterCard, Visa, Discover, or American Expressmust be made in full the evening of the Soirée. 6. The Internal Revenue Service requires that we notify you that only the difference between the fair market value and the higher price paid by the purchaser may be taken as a tax deduction. 7. Checkout will begin when all games, raffles, and live items have been tabulated. We expect this to be around 8:45 pm. If you absolutely must leave before checkout is open, we ask that you leave a credit card imprint to cover items that you may have won. 8. If an item is not paid for and picked up from NYA within 7 business days, it will be offered to the next highest bidder.
At last year’s Soirée, you “raised your paddle” to support NYA’s Kauffmann Program in Environmental Writing and Wilderness Exploration. Together we raised over $80,000 at the Soirée to support this program. Thanks to you, NYA expanded its distinctive experiential learning offerings for all students, launched a new fleet of sea kayaks, opened a climbing wall on campus, provided training and certification to faculty interested in integrating environmental experiences into their curriculum, and helped NYA students learn and grow in natural settings in Maine and beyond. On behalf of all the students and teachers at NYA, thank you for your generosity. Sincerely, Benjamin Jackson Head of School
