This document is designed primarily for anyone who needs to communicate information about NYA and articulate its brand. It should provide the inspiration and the rules you need to implement our brand consistently and effectively. These guidelines are to be applied to all uses, whether for advertising, signage, stationery, uniforms, vehicles, web content, or the countless other items that carry the NYA brand to the world. Every element of this document is shaped and inspired by the NYA’s brand pillars.

THE BRAND PILLARS

The brand pillars are as follows: Teachers – Teachers are committed on the deepest level to the whole student. They go far beyond the classroom. The brand pillars are the four underlying essential qualities that support and illuminate the brand. The pillars are the foundation of NYA’s brand and key messaging. They consist of statements, a collection of words, or phrases that distill the personality of an organization down to its essence. The purpose of this tool is to provide the community with a touchstone or foundation or common starting point for telling stories, designing marketing pieces, and making decisions of any kind.

This branding & graphic standards guide for North Yarmouth Academy (NYA) outlines how to project a consistent, uniform, positive, and professional image of the Academy. From the head of school’s office, to athletic teams and the Parents’ Association, the NYA brand must be presented in a clear and consistent manner.

Students build confidence by having leadership opportunities among peers and students in other grades. “I was really shy freshman year, but coach Ricky saw what I could do and knew I was holding back. My junior year, I was voted by my soccer team to be captain. It’s an honor to have seniors, and the rest of the team think I’m valuable enough to be a captain. “This year, I started doing studio band, and I sort of just picked it up. I used to play hockey as my winter activity, and I wanted to try something new. I mainly play violin, but it doesn’t really fit in the genre, so I picked up electric bass, and I really love it. The veterans of studio band totally welcomed me in and made it easy to learn the ropes.”

Faculty have the capacity to understand their students their academic needs and interests— to help them find how to be the best version of themselves. This creates a culture of investment into students’ education and personal development.
