YA alumni, parents, grandparents, faculty, staff, and friends contributed more than TPSSPVU [V [OL (JHKLT` K\YPUN [OL ÄZJHS year ending June 30. On behalf of all of us at NYA, I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks to all those who have supported the Academy. It is inspiring to see so many members of our community make NYA a philanthropic priority. This year’s historic level of support signals that our families continue to believe strongly in the NYA mission and care deeply about helping our students realize their full potential. Every gift of time, talent, and treasure made to NYA makes an immediate impact on the transformative education students receive inside the classrooms and the labs, on the playing ÄLSKZ WLYMVYTHUJL Z[HNLZ HUK ^P[O [OLPY faculty mentors and coaches. The 2018-19 Philanthropy Report recognizes with gratitude the benefactors who invested in NYA and inspired us with their generosity. We should all share a sense of pride in our collective achievements. With gratitude,

Jennifer Richard P’29, P’31, P’33 Director of Development

This summer, NYA began to renovate and expand the (former) library and student lounge spaces in the Curtis Building into a state-of-the-art learning commons. Set to open in winter 2020, the NYA Learning Commons will be the nerve center of the school and provide the structure and space for information technology, online education, tutoring, collaboration, content creation, meeting, reading, and study. To date, $805,392 has been raised in support of this major campus improvement.

Athletic Projects Completed with Nearly $500,000 in Gifts The three NYA tennis courts were completely reconstructed, with $179,680 donated in support of the project by Lori and Chris Poulin P’22, the United States Tennis Association, and many other NYA families. This spring, spectator seating will be added. An additional $252,024 was contributed by Jessie and Nick Alberding P’18, P’21 and other NYA MHTPSPLZ [V YLUV]H[L [OL [\YM ÄLSK HUK \WKH[L [OL MLUJPUN UL[[PUN HUK ZJVYLIVHYK H[ [OL ÄLSK -\UKYHPZPUN MVY WOHZL [^V VM [OL [\YM WYVQLJ[ which aims to improve the spectator experience, is underway.

Soirée Paddle Raise for STEM Education NYA prepares students to think deeply, remain curious, and try new things so they will be successful in an ever-changing world. This means ensuring all students have access to highquality learning opportunities in STEM subjects, providing faculty with the resources they need to implement effective approaches for STEM teaching, equipping facilities to support STEM educational experiences, and emphasizing hands-on learning to increase student engagement and achievement. Last year, our community rallied and raised $70,750 for STEM programming.

Show Your Love Your participation matters! 518 alumni, parents, grandparents, faculty, staff, and friends made a gift to NYA during the Show Your Love campaign in March, helping to unlock a $30,000 challenge gift from Board President Allen ‘60 and Vicki Bornheimer GP’30. Together, we shattered our goals and raised $61,420 for NYA.

Thank You Volunteers
