NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY MISSION STATEMENT North Yarmouth Academy is an independent, college preparatory, coeducational school serving students in grades five through twelve. The school offers a structured program that sets clear standards and high expectations in an environment that emphasizes values of mutual respect, trust and community. North Yarmouth Academy is dedicated to fostering integrity, character and intellect in young adults.
OVERVIEW AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS From October 2012 through April 2013, North Yarmouth Academy (NYA) conducted a strategic planning process, the result of which will provide a road map for the school’s key priorities over the next three to five years. We are grateful for the efforts of the 51 individuals who served on the Steering Committee and five Sub-Committees for the Strategic Plan. We also are appreciative of the Trustees, faculty, staff, parents, and alumni, as well as many others in the NYA community, who offered feedback through surveys and generative conversations about the school.

Attract, retain and support the highest quality faculty and staff.
The enduring character and mission of the school continues to evolve through a distinctive program balancing academics, the arts and athletics.
Goal One: Develop a fair and consistent evaluation process as a framework for compensation decisions. Improve the compensation package for the faculty and staff. Goal Two: Assure that individual workloads are equitable, clearly articulated and achievable.
Goal One: Nurture a program that advances our school’s mission. Foster programmatic growth through thoughtful evaluation of existing and newly implemented programs. Goal Two: Reinforce character development as a core element of our educational experience through work with faculty, staff, outside coaches and parents. The NYA Ethic of Respect, Honesty, Compassion, Perseverance and Responsibility will serve as the cornerstone of this goal.
Goal Three: Create an orientation and mentoring program for new faculty and staff.
Goal Three: Create a Lower School to offer high-quality, educational programming to Pre-K through 4th grade students while providing greater opportunities for cross-divisional learning.

Develop and implement a strategic marketing and communications plan that leads to sustainable and measured growth of our school.
Maintain and enhance facilities and technology to meet all programmatic needs. Goal One: Create a blueprint for crisis response utilizing best practices in technology and accounting for the unique characteristics of our campus.
Goal One: Create a clear, memorable and authentic vision statement to articulate the school’s identity to the NYA community.
Goal Two: Prioritize deferred maintenance and adhere to a sustainable maintenance and replacement plan for all facilities and technology.
Goal Two: Determine the most effective and creative approach to communicate our branding statement with the goal of increasing inquiries for enrollment in both academic and summer programs by 5-10% in each of the next three years.
Goal Three: Revise campus master plan to insure that facilities and technology support the school mission strategically and efficiently. Goal Four: Provide sufficient athletic facilities to support existing teams and allow for additional athletic opportunities. Goal Five: Provide a suitable space to meet the needs of our arts programs and our community. The comprehensive strategic plan has been submitted to NEASC (New England Association of Schools and Colleges), NYA’s accrediting body. We are establishing task forces that will work to implement and execute the plan.
Goal One: Engage our community through effective and strategic communications and events. Goal Two: Invest in development functions and staffing.
The strategic plan is a living document, and we will formally review our progress on a regular basis as we evaluate new priorities to meet the current needs of our community.
Goal Three: Create and monitor annual development goals through a long-term plan, and move annual giving revenue to the subsequent fiscal year operating budget.
