NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY

PROGRAMS MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR Jen Bonnett Thank you for your interest in North Yarmouth Academy’s Summer Programs! Our mission is to provide children with unique experiences led by caring, knowledgeable staff in a safe and happy atmosphere. We further strive to broaden horizons, teach new skills, and encourage appropriate and friendly interactions among children and adults. We seek to make every program challenging, educational, and fun for all.

Our signature NYA-led camps are the Panther Cub, Panther Cub Tots, and Super Summer Day Camp programs. They are designed by:

Assistant Camp Director Chelsea Morrison

This is Chelsea’s fifth year with NYA Summer Programs. Her credentials include: NYA Lower School Faculty; Central Maine Community College, A.S., Safe Sitter Certified Instructor

NYA offers a variety of day camp opportunities, from themed general sessions to specific programs, for children ages 2-15. Your child will have fun, meet friends, and learn new things under the direction of our highly experienced and trained summer staff. Some highlights of the GREAT value you receive with our Summer Programs are: • •

• • •

Most sessions are led or supervised by trained and experienced educators or run by partner organizations with expertise in their field. Junior counselors round out our camp staff team. FREE Before Care from 7:30 – 8:30 a.m. and FREE After Care from 3:00 – 5:30 p.m. Full day camp sessions run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. That’s a full day of childcare when you register your child for a session! Half day camp sessions run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and can take advantage of FREE Before Care. Early Bird pricing for those who register by April 15, 2019. Save $25 per registration! 10% multi-session discount when you register a camper for more than 1 session! Become part of a safe, caring community that gets to know you and your child personally.

Our programs are designed to be fun learning experiences, set in a comfortable and flexible environment. While we do have structure, NYA Summer Programs are not designed to feel like school-year structured programs. Campers will spend plenty of time outside and plenty of time moving their bodies. Summer is a great time for experiential learning and that’s just what we offer! We even have plenty of ideas for rainy days that will keep kids active and engaged. We hope to make this a fun and safe experience for you and your camper for many years to come. This will be my fifth summer with NYA, and my 19th year involved with summer camp. I value learning in all of its forms and truly feel that a summer camp experience is a unique learning environment for children. I hope to see your camper discover the magic of camp, enjoy fun activities, and make memories that will last a lifetime! Please contact me if you have any questions. I am happy to help.

Camp Staff:

The majority of our camp staff are recruited from NYA, the local community and colleges. Many of our Lead Instructors are trained teachers and all have extensive experience working with youth. Junior Counselors are high school or college students who assist instructors to provide our high quality program. They all share one thing - a passion to work with children and to make our campers’ experience really great! All staff are required to have a personal interview with the Director of Summer Programs, have references verified, and must pass a criminal background check before they work with campers. All staff and partner organizations participate in a safety orientation before the summer begins.

Sincerely, Jen Bonnett Director of NYA Summer Programs jbonnett@nya.org | 207.847.5458

Ancient healing practices and modern holistic techniques are combined to introduce the curriculum using an array of methods such as storytelling, crafts, activities, games and spending time in nature. Children are introduced to guided visualizations to help them identify their inner critic and inner champion, breathing techniques, the law of attraction, an attitude of gratitude, working with chakras and auras, shamanic journeying, mindfulness, discovering power animals, and much more! This unique program offers children a profound opportunity to experience a deeper awareness of who they are while they are having fun and playing games.
