NYA BEYOND
Toddler through Grade 12
Head of School, Ben Jackson
Choosing a school for a child is one of the most important decisions a family will make. NYA continues to build upon its proud 204 year history by Bringing out the Best in its students from 18 months to 18 years of age. NYA’s committed and dedicated faculty recognizes each child as a unique individual through authentic student-teacher relationships. The strength of these relationships is supported by the school’s mission to deliver a rigorous academic program, character development, and diverse opportunities in athletics, arts, and extra-curricular activities. At NYA, we empower our students to pursue their passions and interests as they develop a foundation for a lifetime of learning. Our beautiful campus is the daily home to a community of thoughtful, creative, and inquisitive students, inspiring faculty, and families committed to an exceptional education for their children. To truly learn how NYA can make a difference for your child, schedule a tour with the Admission Office today. I look forward to meeting you.

Character, Culture, Community In a small school environment, we are privileged to know every student very well. The relationships that develop between our students and our faculty enable us to guide each individual on his or her journey to adulthood. That individual attention also enables us to help mold students’ character and integrity as they face choices and challenges. High expectations go hand in hand with exceptional support. The culture at NYA is one where it’s the norm to work hard and do well, where students support each other, and where faculty always make time for students and parents. All of this creates a community that is a safe place in which students can take risks, fail and succeed, discover their passions, and learn how they fit into not only NYA, but into the wider world beyond.
Lower School, Grow With Us
The Lower School embraces Montessori methods through kindergarten. In the first and second grades, the program builds off a Montessori foundation, continuing to provide an active and engaging learning environment.
Not Your Parents’ Middle School
In grades 5-8, we focus on giving students a solid foundation - academically, athletically, artistically, and socially - to prepare them for further academic challenges and life. NYA’s Middle School is a safe, nurturing environment; it is also a vibrant, stimulating place where you can feel the energy in the air.
Upper School, Higher Aspirations
In the Upper School, students learn not only the critical thinking and writing skills that are essential in every field, but they also learn how to manage their time and how to collaborate with others. They gain the confidence to establish relationships with teachers, mentors, and other adults. The work is challenging; the days are full; the rewards are lifelong.
What’s the NYA Difference?
College Counseling In 2017, 85% of graduates gained admission to one or more of their top three college choices. Representatives from over 100 colleges visit campus each year. Colleges know us!
Broad Extracurricular After School Offerings Students are required to participate in activities all year, including at least two team or individual sports, to build teamwork, physical fitness, and confidence.
Arts Every Day As part of the school day, visual and performing arts enrich every student’s educational experience here. The program is uniquely broad and offers paths to discover and explore inside and outside the classroom.
Advisors Every student has a Faculty Advisor to guide them as they navigate academic and life challenges and take advantage of opportunities. These relationships are lasting.
200+ Years of Excellence Just over 200 years ago, there was a need to educate the area’s young people, prepare them for college, to be good citizens, and to thrive in an unpredictable, demanding world. That need is greater than ever today, and NYA approaches it like no other school.
More! Dress code, visiting artists and writers, small classes, invested faculty, Travis Roy Ice Arena, experiential education, online learing, and interdisciplinary courses. With two centuries to cover, there are enough differences at NYA to fill a book of its own.
