Say yes to NCS! In recent years, social action projects have included fundraising events such as talent shows and a swim-athon as well as the renovation of several community facilities. The programme is recognised by UCAS and gives young people something fun and different to with their summer holiday. The cost of the summer scheme is £50. There are however, bursaries available to cover the cost if needed.
This summer, year 11 students once again have the chance to take part in the National Citizen Service (NCS) programme with Norwich City’s Community Sports Foundation and follow in the footsteps of over 1000 young people in Norfolk, since 2011.
For more information on the National Citizen Service in Norfolk this year, text ‘NCS YES’ to 07554 963820 and our team will get back to you! Alternatively, you can contact the NCS team on 01603761122 or by emailing Paul. Sykes@ncfc-canaries.co.uk
NCS, a government-backed project, provides young people with the opportunity to take part in residential camps and volunteering projects in their local communities. Summer participants enjoy back-to-back residential weeks in July/August, which encourage team building and making new friends before the chance to make a difference in their local community with 60 hours of social action work.
Katie Malone Community Hero As part of the celebration of the success of our National Citizen Service (NCS) programme, our Community Hero for this afternoon’s game will be eighteen-year-old Katie Malone, a graduate of the NCS October scheme. At the end of 2014, Katie and her NCS group completed 60 hours of voluntary community work by holding a Christmas Fair that raised over £600 for the Salvation Army. Now an ambassador for the NCS programme, Katie spoke at the recent graduation about the benefits of NCS for her: “Throughout the scheme my confidence and self-belief has come on leaps and bounds; our team was so supportive of one another. “We got along very well with each other and I would definitely say that I have made friends for life.” 01603 761122 info@communitysportsfoundation.org.uk
