Welcome to the first official newsletter for the Nelc Wildlife Project. Hopefully, by the end of this term we will be celebrating lots of observations of bird and animal life in the city of Nottingham as well as successfully having lots of birds setting up home in the bird boxes we’ve provided for them! Those of you who have had the feeder and nestbox kits installed - please make sure you are keeping the feeders filled up! Don’t forget, through the web, we are all watching to see the birds who are visiting your school.

For more website information check out page 2

Website News As mentioned on the front of the newsletter, the website has had a lot of new pages added to include all the schools who attended the launch on 9th December. I have also included some new video clips and images for you to use in your work in schools. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Berridge Infants Slideshow Last year, children at Berridge Infants in Hyson Green had the chance to watch a pair of Song Thrushes decided to build their nest on top of a security light above one of the classroom doors.

on of the Classroom Assistants took lots of photos to tell the story of the successful fledging of the chicks from a very precarious looking nest. She has kindly let us have the photos and we’ve

Michelle Starbuck

added them to their school page as a slideshow for you to view. Click on the website and go to the schools’ pages and

select ‘Berridge infants’. Here’s a selection of the images from the slideshow to tempt you.

EQUIPMENT FOR LOAN As mentioned before and showcased at the 9th December meeting, we have a lot of equipment that you can borrow and use with your children. The only thing we ask is that we can use the images, video, etc as part of our website and to support the project.

If you’re interested in

borrowing any of the

above, or would like me to spend sometime with your children using these, let me know. All loans will be free, but there will be some charge for my time,
