It starts with a lease for 25 years in Ancestral Domain lands located in Buda. This means through the permission & administration of the NCIP, you will be permitted to use the land for development to help provide livelihood to the Indigenous People of Marahan in Buda NOTE : A majority of our workers and staff are local IPs residing within the community in Buda. Seedling Procurement Purchase and transport seedlings from reliable suppliers. We are plating 50% Giant Bamboo, 30% Kawayan Tinik and 20% Kawayan Bayog. All seedlings are stored in a clean and controlled nursery before planting to ensure proper hydration and nurture
Maintenance and Clump Management To ensure maximum pole production, the first 2 years is crucial. Maintenance and Clump Management entails: a. Weed control, clearing weeds that grow around the young bamboo b. Replace dead planting material
Using a carabao, transfer of seedlings from nursery to planting site. We add one cup of chicken dung to help strengthen the roots with added boost in nutrients. To avoid moisture and nutrient loss, we pile mulch around the newly planted seedlings
Planting c. Mulching d. Soil Maintenance : loosen soil around the plant to improve aeration - done every 6 months on year 1 e. Protection of Plantation from Fire, Rodents, Animals , Pests and Diseases f. Annual markings of new poles to easily identify harvestable poles with colour coded system
HOW DOES IT WORK? TREATMENT We use a 3-step Treatment process with Borates. This gives the bamboo poles we produce increased life span (up to 50 years). We first soak freshly harvested poles into running water, allowing the bamboo pores to open up ready for the natural borates. Then it is soaked in a boiling tank of borates in water for several hours , allowing penetration between the nodes. Then horizontally allowing the poles to be air dried for at least 5 days, with 14-16% moisture to be ready for construction use.
HARVEST
(4 Year Old Poles) Harvest is done during dry season to ensure lower starch content Also only matured poles are harvested just above the first node closest to the ground so water doesn't accumulate in protruding internodes. This is to prevent rotting and insects from laying eggs Stocking, Sales and Marketing of Poles We stock treated bamboo poles in a cool, dry place to avoid, cracking or get brittle. We ensure roper air circulation and good ventilation on raised platforms with separators to avoid bending or too much weight.
Other Profit Opportunities In our agreement, you will get a 500 square meter lot within your leased property to build a farm/plantation dwelling that is within the given design guidelines. If you wish to build this, you may also rent this out on days you wish as a private rental to friends, family or acquaintances for a fee you set. Rental processes from this is your own and will not be part of the profit sharing agreement. Cost of Construction, Utilities and Amenities are not included in this contract. However, if you wish for us to build this for you, We would be willing to work with you on this build at a special rate, if you wish to do so.
We have established direct relationships with builders and crafters for pole distribution to ensure all poles are released into the market.
PROFIT SHARING WE follow a 70/30 profit sharing method for your investment. The 30% share we get is for full Plantation Management from Year 5 to Year 25.
