microfiber cloths Microfiber fabric is used to make a variety of cleaning implements such as cloths, buffers and mops. Microfiber cloths have long been used by jewellers, opticians and photographers, who appreciate the fabric’s incredible cleansing power. Microfiber thread is extremely fine and woven into thousands of loops, creating a huge surface area with which to trap bacteria, dust, dirt and grease. Benefits The key benefits of Microfiber are it’s suction power and absorbency. The cloth can absorb more than four times its own weight and it’s suction force is so great that even the tiniest bacteria are absorbed and trapped in the cloth, thus reducing the need for cleansing materials. Less dependence on cleaning chemicals is better for the environment. Microfiber cloths are highly durable and reusable.  How Microfiber Cleans Microfiber works in two ways: When the fabric is dry it cleans by static electricity and when wet it cleans by capillary force. As both static and capillary forces pull with such great power, Microfiber products are extremely effective at removing dirt, dust, stains and bacteria. Microfiber cloths are so effective at removing foreign particles from surfaces that the need for cleaning chemicals is greatly reduced. How To Use Microfiber Cloths Dry Microfiber cloths are ideal for dusting. Wet cloths lend themselves better to cleaning. To wet a surface for cleaning, use a spray bottle to apply a fine mist of water. Microfiber cloths suck up and hold onto all foreign material until they are laundered. You may also try using two Microfiber cloths for one cleaning job: use one dry cloth to dust and then use a second wet cloth to polish the freshly dusted surface. How to care for Microfiber Cloths Microfiber cloths are reusable and machine washable. Cloths should be washed regularly at 90°C. One third of normal washing powder is required. Be sure not to use fabric softener or bleach when washing, as this will impair the effectiveness of the cloth. Microfiber cloths are sturdy enough to endure 300-400 machine washes. Our mission is to establish the Now Designs brand as the most recognizable and desirable brand in kitchen textiles. The fact that our Basic aprons come with no packaging or branding at all does very little to advance this mission. Our competition has grasped this fact and has made conscious efforts to conspicuously brand their product. The fact that we have failed to fully capitalize on the equity of our brand is an oversight we wish to rectify.

We will highlight in yellow the item in the list on the left that represents the item being sold. The example above is for aprons. For the first time, all of our basic aprons, mitts and potholders will have hangtags. These will replace the existing sewn-in barcode labels. This new packaging will appear on all Now Designs items in 2011 except the following: Floursack sets and takeout boxes Design-specific gift boxes and tags Organic cotton items

The list is a clever device for bringing uniformity to the packaging while at the same time alerting the consumer that Now Designs offers a range of coordinating kitchen textiles. It suggests that there are mitts, kitchen towels, and placemats that match or coordinate with the apron you are holding. This design coordination is one of the great strengths and selling features of the Now Designs line.

What’s with the list?

1967

The Now Designs aesthetic is defined as “Classic Modern”. The tag line and design of the packaging encapsulate this ethos. The phrase “Purveyors of Fine Kitchen Textiles” is evocative of 19th century craftsmanship and represents the “Classic” side of the equation. The late 50’s/early 60’s High Modern graphic design and sans-serif typeface makes it “Modern”. “Since 1967” portrays a sense of longevity and continuity that’s rare in our industry, and the year 1967 is one that has generally positive connotations, as a lot of interesting things happened in 1967 (Summer of Love, etc).

CUSHION • COUSSIN

What’s with the colours? Our logo on the light blue background should give a sense of continuity with our existing light blue packaging. The dark blue, unlike say red or yellow, does a good job of not clashing with most of our designs. The yellow highlighted word pops against the dark blue background.
