hen Brittanie Williams found her prince charming and became engaged, she knew she had some special ladies in her life she had to ask a very important question: Will you be my bridesmaid? "I am sure I am not the only girl who has admitted that I have been dreaming of this special day my entire life!" shares Brittanie. "I have spent countless nights pinning all sorts of fabulous ideas on my Pinterest “Dream Wedding” board." Wanting everything leading up to her wedding day to be just a special, Brittanie knew her bridesmaid proposal also had to be perfect and fit for a fairytale princess.

"I am a firm believer in everything gorgeous and impractical," says Brittanie. "I absolutely love tulle, sequins, sparkles, anything lace, and of course I love dressing up!" To create a memorable event for the "bridesmaids to be" and a unique twist on the southern tradition of a bridal tea, Brittanie opted to surprise her girls with a fabulous bridesmaid tea at Windsor Court Hotel, where she popped the question. She showered her girls with adorable, personalized gifts, as a way to thank them for being with her on this exciting journey leading up to the biggest day of her life! Along with her mother, grandmother and bridesmaids, Brittanie spent the afternoon sipping tea, snacking on light hors d'oeuvres and talking about her upcoming dream wedding. "It was just fabulous!" says Brittanie.

We plan to follow Brittanie on her journey on the N.O.W. blog (TheNowBride.com) - be sure to follow us on social media for updates!

Organizer of the Tiara Trot, Janie Glade, and some of the best wedding professionals New Orleans has to offer, would come together to make their dream wedding a reality. The couple had originally planned to keep their wedding day simple, but it would now be a gala event made possible through all who donated their time and services for the winning couple's wedding. The venue for the wedding and reception would be the JW Marriott, a hotel with 'Old Southern Charm' steps away from the French Quarter. Katie beautifully graced the aisle to "1,000 Years" by Christina Perri in an all lace mermaid gown from Linda Lee Bridal with her hair and make-up done by La Riviera Salon & Spa. The bridesmaids wore buff colored Watters crinkle chiffon dresses from Pearl's Place. Brad looked dashing in an Allure by Jean Yves tuxedo from John's Tuxedos. Katie and Brad's chose "I Cross My Heart" by George Strait for their first dance. Reception entertainment was by Countdown Sound and Productions. The elegant decor was provided by Luminous Events and Nola Flora, and throughout the night, all the special moments were captured by Danielle Walters Photography and Dyle Films. The couple cut their four tier ivory and gold wedding cake provided by Mad Batter Bakery and as the evening came to a close, in true New Orleans fashion, they Second Lined through the JW Marriott and onto Canal Street. A white horse and carriage from Mid City Carriages awaited their exit. "Everyone threw white rose petals as we walked through," says Katie. "It was simply beautiful!" The two enjoyed their Tiara Trot fund-raising experience and feel blessed that so many people supported them along the way. "We had teachers involve their students by raising money and making signs reading 'Together We

Today's couples are getting creative with their guest books and opting to create unique keepsakes and styling great sign-in tables to display them. Here, bride Catherine and her groom Devin collected personal and family "treasures" for their eclectic sign-in table. They also chose a nontraditional guest book - a calendar for their guests to pick a day and leave a note.

ONE STOP FOR PERMITS

An attractive city such as New Orleans is ideal for wedding events such as bridal photo shoots in Jackson Square or a small second line parade in the French Quarter. However, these events (among others) may require a permit. The city of New Orleans notes that “most public special events must obtain a promoter’s occupational license and mayoralty permit.” Luckily, the city of New Orleans and the city planning commission have made the task of getting a permit much easier. All information pertaining to permits can be located online at nola.gov/onestop. On this website, you will find the fees for the permit, required documents/steps, other necessities and event guidelines. It is important to review the event guidelines because you must read and complete the permissions and processes in order to secure your location. Permits are required for safety. New Orleans is a great city to host your event and it is the city to make your wedding dreams become a reality. So, start your permit application today!

"Let's just say I was highly suspicious!" says Kevin.

When they arrived at the Degas House, they were suprised to see family from far away and most of the members of the original bridal party waiting to celebrate with them. "It was so nice to have everyone together and to recreate the bridal party photo," shares Kathryne. To add special touches, the couple's original wedding colors were used in all the decor. Their daughter Jennifer hand painted vases for the tables and made a special topper for their cake and their daughter Anne handmade pompoms to decorate the chairs. Gambino's Bakery recreated the original wedding cake for the party - complete with a fountain! Instead of

"wedding cake," the flavors were carrot cake, Kathryne's favorite, and chocolate for Kevin. "It's my cake!" Kathryne exclaimed when she saw it. Since Kathryne and Kevin love breakfast food, the party would be a brunch. Michael McQuillen with Liberty's Kitchen in New Orleans created an amazing menu that was expertly executed by the Liberty's Kitchen staff. Guests would enjoy a buffet of freshly made pastries, pain perdu and a gourmet grits bar. In addition to the buffet, hand-passed blackened shrimp and Fig, Brie & Pecan tartlets would be served. "The food was so good," says Kathryne, "And the buffet was so beautifully decorated and presented!"

As a special gift for the couple, their daughter-in-law, Michelle, suggested creating a painting. She began work on the painting that would include everyone's handprints: Kathryne and Kevin's handprints together would form the "roots" of a tree with the handprints of the children and grandchildren forming the branches and leaves. The words "Love Grows A Family" finished the painting perfectly. Reflecting on the previous forty years, Kathryne says, "It's hard to believe it's been that long, but I can't remember not being married!" Kathryne and Kevin both agree that making a marriage last takes hard work. "We were always 'one'," shares Kevin. "It was never mine or yours‌it has always been 'ours.' We made a commitment and we were going to work through it no matter what." That being said, the two agree, it isn't just hard work that makes a marriage. "You can work hard, but if you don't have love, it won't work," shares Kathryne. Out of Kathryne and Kevin's love, their family has grown from two to twenty in forty years. Love truly does grow a family.

I nspiring I deas GREAT ESCAPES

I

STUDIO TRAN PHOTOGRAPHERS

t's the end of your ceremony...the officiant proclaims that you are married... you kiss! Cue the dramatic music and burst dramatically out of the church doors to showers of rose petals and a classic car with a "Just Married" sign and tin cans tied to the back. It's the perfect wedding get-away....for every Hollywood wedding movie ever made, that is! In real life, the grand exit usually happens at the end of the reception. Sadly, this exit is often an afterthought instead of an exciting send-off. Many couples do not plan their exit and this is pretty much what happens: The band stops playing, the lights come on and guests meander out while the staff starts cleaning the room. What a sad ending! Don't let your wedding celebration just die out - end it with an exciting bang! Here are a few tips to orchestrate a memorable send-off: Announce Your Exit If you want your guests to see you off at the end of the reception, have your band or DJ announce your departure and ask your guests to gather outside. Often, it is a good idea to have your wedding planner go around to any guests who may not have heard the announcement to let them know to head outside. You want everyone to be there for the exit! Make it Fun With Favors Once guests start moving outside, have an appointed member of the wedding party or your wedding planner hand out the favors for your exit. These may be rose petals, confetti, bird seed, bubbles, sparklers or noise makers. The item you choose is up to you and your venue's restrictions. Some venues with water features, like fountains, may prohibit bubbles. Others may not allow items that will cause a mess or may have requirements that the mess be cleaned up. If you choose rose petals or confetti have someone designated in advance to clean up after the guests have gone. Great Photos and Video If you plan a great exit, you definitely will want great photos and video as you run out the doors and through the crowd of excited guests. There are a few things to keep in mind to help make your photos and video the best they can be. First, your guests will probably be very excited to take photos of you and hug you as you're leaving. (Cont)

However, for truly dramatic exit photos and video, your photographer and videographer need a clear pathway. Many times, enthusiastic guests jump out in front of the photo crew to get their own shots and the pros end up with nothing but photos and video of the back of your guests. Needless to say, the back of Uncle Bob's head is probably not going to make the cut for the wedding album. Another common scenario is lack of space for you to exit side by side. If the "walkway" is narrow, one of you may end up having to run ahead, dragging the other through the crowd. This results in lots of photos of just one of you leaving. To help avoid these situations, a little planning is in order. If you anticipate having a large crowd, have your rental company provide stanchions to line the exit so your guests know where to stand. While you're at it, why not leave in true celebrity style and rent a red carpet too?! Second Line with a Brass Band and Mardi Gras Indians It is a New Orleans tradition to second line from the ceremony to the reception, but you can close out the reception with a second line too! Plan early to have this unique and memorable wedding day ending! STUDIO TRAN PHOTOGRAPHERS | MARDI GRAS INDIAN SHOW

Ride in Style The last component to your exit is your getaway vehicle. In New Orleans we have so many options to choose from! If you're having a very formal wedding, a limo or Rolls Royce or Bentley make an impressive statement. For a funky, fun choice, consider a classic convertible. If you want something truly different, you can plan for a pedicab to whisk you off into the night! Of course, you can also have your wedding party decorate your own car, but be sure to set parameters for how much decorating is allowed. In the end, you want to leave your wedding and head to your honeymoon with fun and fanfare. Remember to smile and wave as you run through the bubbles, hug your mom and dad just before you get in the car and kiss your new spouse as you drive off!

THINGS TO DO

After You Say "I DO"

1) Order extra copies of your Certificate of Marriage. Many government agencies, including the Social Security Administration, require an original copy of this document in order to change your name. 2) Request a new Social Security Card. Before you can change your name anywhere else, you need an updated Social Security Card. To start the process, visit the Social Security Administration's website at www.ssa.gov. The website provides detailed instructions for changing your name. 3) Update your Driver's License. Changing your name on your Driver's License must be done in person at your local Office of Motor Vehicles location. Be sure to check the official OMV website before you go to make sure you have all required documents, http://omv.dps.state.la.us/ 4) Change your name. With your employer, banks, mortgage companies, utilities, insurance companies, schools, magazine subscriptions and any other businesses you have information on file with. 5) Order new checks and credit or debit cards. If you receive checks written to your new name before you've officially changed your name, simply bring your marriage license with you to the bank so you can deposit the checks! 6) If you're traveling out of the country for your honeymoon. Make the reservations in your maiden name. Your passport must match the name on your airline tickets. 7) Create a new email address. If applicable, but be sure not to delete your old email. For a few months to a year, set your old email to forward your messages and set an auto-response notifying your contacts of your new address.

Ye Olde

Traditionally the rehearsal dinner is the day before the wedding and follows a rehearsal of the ceremony; however, this is mostly up to you and your guests. For example, many Catholic churches in New Orleans have Friday night weddings so rehearsals on Fridays are not an option. Or it may be more convenient for the majority of your wedding party to have the rehearsal the weekend before so they do not miss more work than necessary. You can also have a “rehearsal” dinner even if you are not having a traditional ceremony rehearsal. If you decide to have a traditional rehearsal dinner, schedule it early enough in the evening so that everyone can get plenty of rest in prep for the big celebration the next day. The invitation list for the rehearsal dinner should include the wedding party and anyone who has to be at the ceremony rehearsal. In the past it was truly a faux pas if you did not invite your out of town guests to the rehearsal dinner, but this is becoming less common and expected. With that being said, for a destination wedding, it’s important to invite everyone. And if it is a larger rehearsal (i.e. not just the wedding party), be sure to include significant others, and of course, the officiant as a courtesy. Tradition says the Groom’s parents host the rehearsal dinner. Before assuming this tradition is one to keep in your plans, have a heart-to-heart with your future in-laws to see if they are willing and able to host a rehearsal dinner and if so what the budget is. Set out to help pick a place that meets their guidelines and some of your desires too. It is also becoming increasingly common for the couple or their combined families to host the rehearsal dinner. A typical rehearsal dinner timeline includes a few key events in addition to the meal: The Meet and Greet – Start with cocktails and passed appetizers as guests mingle and chat each other up. This is your chance to welcome your wedding party and family and thank them for coming. Gifts - The rehearsal dinner is an opportunity to publicly shower your attendants and parents with praise, affection and gifts.

College Inn

Toasts - Traditionally, the hosts will begin the toasts towards the end of the meal. Parents and bridal party members typically follow, and the last to offer a toast should be the happy couple themselves. Friendly Reminders - Most of the key individuals are in attendance, so this is a great time to share timelines and reminders about transportation.

Rehearsal events do not have to be formal, fancy, be elaborately decorated or even have a set timeline. This party can be as formal or informal as you wish. Whatever the level of formality, you do need to invite your guests. You can do so by sending official invitations or through and e-vite or, if very informal, you can share the invitation verbally. Rehearsal dinners are usually not nearly as formal as the wedding itself, but by keeping communication open and being flexible and following some guidelines, both you and your guests are sure to have a great time!

THE LIVE PAINTER HEIRLOOM LIVE EVENT PAINTING How would you like to be able to capture a moment in time from one of your most important days of your life? Heirloom Live Event Painting does just that by coming to your wedding or event and create a keepsake that can be passed down from generation to generation. Heirloom Live Event Painting is a unique form of entertainment for your guests; the painting comes to life and depicts that special moment as your guests watch the artist in action. Whether it is your first dance or your ceremony, this is truly a one-of-a-kind masterpiece that can be kept for years to come. Heirloom Live Event Painting also offers GicleĂŠ prints in a number of different options of the original paintings for parents and other family members to have after the event is over so the memories can last forever! Q. WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START HEIRLOOM LIVE EVENT PAINTERS? A. My daughter wanted a live painter at her wedding in 2013 to paint her first dance at the reception but was not able to find anyone available. Since this was so important to her, I contacted an artist friend of mine to see if he would be able to do this for her. We immediately had tons of inquiries about the live painting and it grew organically after that.

JARED

Q. HOW MANY ARTISTS DO YOU REPRESENT? A. Currently we represent 4 artists: Jared, Jaques, Blair and Nikki Q. TELL US ABOUT THE ARTISTS, THEIR PAINTING STYLE. HOW DO THEY CAPTURE THE ESSENCE OF AN EVENT AND WHAT ELEMENTS DO THEY INCLUDE? A. All of our artists at Heirloom Live have an impressionistic style of painting; some are more realistic than others and each have their own technique. The artists will capture architecture, lighting, mood, and tone. We speak in advance with the bride and groom, and their requests are our inspiration and determine what we paint. Q. TELL US WHAT MAKES HEIRLOOM THE COMPANY TO HIRE FOR A WEDDING AND HOW ARE YOU DIFFERENT FROM OTHER LIVE EVENT PAINTERS? A. We know how expensive weddings can be so we kept that in mind and wanted to be affordable. Weddings are such a special time in someone's life and we hope to make it even more special. We are also very lenient when it comes to traveling and availability. We are different from other live event painters because we have multiple painters, therefore, we are able to offer brides and grooms all types of styles to fit all needs and visions. Q. HOW MUCH INPUT DO YOUR CLIENTS GIVE REGARDING THE FINISHED PAINTING? DO THEY TELL YOU WHAT ELEMENTS THEY'D LIKE TO SEE OR DO THEY TRUST THE ARTISTS INSTINCTS? A. For the most part, clients will trust the artist's instincts. The paintings are all impressionistic to a degree, but the bride and groom are able to add special features - background, people, decor - to the painting if they tell us ahead of time. We also offer touch ups so we can add to the painting later if requested. (Cont)

HEIRLOOM LIVE EVENT PAINTING - CONTINUED Q. WHAT IS THE BIGGEST COMPLIMENT YOU'VE EVER RECEIVED FROM A CLIENT? A. We love hearing how different and unique it is having a live painter at their wedding - their guests absolutely love it. It is one of the more memorable aspects of the wedding that people will talk about for years to come. Q. ARE THE PAINTINGS FINISHED AT THE RECEPTION OR ARE FINISHING TOUCHES ADDED AFTERWARDS? A. Typically, paintings are completed at the reception unless the bride and groom request touch ups afterwards. Q. PLEASE TELL US ANYTHING YOU WOULD LIKE OUR READERS TO KNOW ABOUT HEIRLOOM. A. Heirloom offers that something extra and different for a wedding. Not only will your guests be wowed as they watch the artist paint live, but you will have a family heirloom that you can hang in your home for the rest of your life.

THE LIVE PAINTER ALEX HARVIE Alex Harvie has always loved art and expressing himself and the world around him through his paintings. Alex received his Fine Art degree at LSU in 2005. He is currently painting live at events across the country. He is well known in the New Orleans art scene as a prominent visual artist. He is considered part painter/part performer as he amazes guests who enjoy watching him transform a blank canvas into a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. His passion is to capture life and time in the moment on canvas through his art of live painting. Q. HOW DID YOU GET STARTED IN PAINTING? A. I have been painting since Junior High then at LSU for a while. I did some pop-up shows in Baton Rouge which is where I started painting professionally in 2006. My first live paintings were charity Tennis Tournaments for the Aquinas League of Baton Rouge. I donated my art to them to be auctioned off. My friend’s sister was getting married, so I decided to offer to do a live painting at the wedding. People watched as I painted live at the wedding and it started catching on. Michael Wang, a real estate developer, was getting married at Latrobe’s and that is where I really started developing my process, using textures. I realized that doing a start-to-finish painting during the actual event was where I needed to be. I decided at this point in 2010, to move from Baton Rouge to New Orleans to begin this journey. I have also painted live music venues and bands, but the weddings just kept coming. In 2014, I did 84 weddings all over the country. Q. HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE? A. I call it “mush”…an eclectic blend of everything that I have been exposed to in my life… art history learned in college, Greek to Renaissance to Contemporary Art. I use a very thick texture called “Impasto.” I like to paint someone’s “essence” or personality instead of their facial representation, since they have a photographer there to capture that already. I am more about capturing the style of the person. I love interacting with the guests, [the painting is] like a glimpse of an experience that happens between myself and the guests. Q. WHAT SIZE PAINTINGS DO YOU CREATE? A. The minimum is 32x24” and the largest is 48x32 with all sizes in between. The larger size is done only at a 4-hour reception to allow enough time. I build the canvases from scratch by hand, so I can make odd sizes if the couple requests it. I always use oils and the painting goes home with me so it has time to dry and stays safe. The couple will get it from me later. Q. IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE WITH OUR READERS? A. The uniqueness of each piece makes you have a connection with the painting. It's made up of all your friends & family - that’s your masterpiece. It’s priceless...people can recognize themselves in the paintings due to the capturing of their personalities. This is not a piece of art you could ever get in a gallery. I am grateful to be able to do this every weekend.

THE LIVE PAINTER COLOR ME NOLA

Kristy Oustalet graduated from Loyola University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Following her studies, Kristy explored the art industry through gallery work, working with the New Orleans Film Festival, Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, and was the Art Director for a small company in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Kristy would return to NOLA after working in the arts in cities around the globe, anxious to share her experiences and creativity within the art scene in New Orleans. In 2010, she opened her art studio Color Me Nola. In 2013, she transitioned into Live Event Painting full time, capturing moments as they unfold at an event. Guests watch the evolution of the painting from a blank canvas into its awe-inspiring completion, adding a unique entertainment to an event. Her passionate love of art has transformed her live event paintings into a timeless memory of a special day in the lives of her clients.

Q. HOW DID YOU GET INTO ART IN GENERAL? A. Art has been something I've always been drawn to. I attended NOCCA for High School, attended Loyola for Visual Arts. When in college, I was drawn to the business side of things and ended up working in art galleries. After Katrina I moved to Chicago and did a lot of volunteering at the Modern Art Museum there. I also ran a community arts organization in Thailand after some extensive traveling. I wanted to get a job in the arts in Southeast Asia to get immersed into the culture. When ready to come home and lay down some roots, I decided to combine the two, art and business, and open Color Me Nola in 2010, which originally started off as an art studio where I taught art classes. Painting and drawing classes were offered for kids, teens and adults. Someone asked me to try live event painting...I decided to give it a try. It was a lot of fun. The original clients from the studio helped spread the word about my live event painting. Once you start painting at events, you tend to book more events since people are watching you, as you become part of the event. Q. DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE/TECHNIQUE. A. I use palate knife painting which has a lot of texture, incorporating a lot of colors. The look is more symmetrical, giving a straight-on viewpoint. The style is very clean, textured..a little on the abstract side. Q. WHAT SIZE PAINTINGS DO YOU PROVIDE? A. Usually either 24x30 or 30x40 for the bigger size, depending on what the client requests. Q. WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE A POTENTIAL COUPLE TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR WORK? A. The piece describes the whole night, something you can hang on the wall for a memory, capturing an overall viewpoint of one of your best days. Q. DO YOU FOCUS ON ONE SPECIFIC PART OF THE EVENT? A. I usually like to paint the first dance, because people love that so much. A few times, I have done the cake cutting or the second line. I try to make sure to draw in some key people so they can tell who the people are, capturing their special day. Having worked so many weddings I can tell what needs to be painted and incorporate the details of the wedding planning into the art, making it as custom as possible. Q. DO YOU EVER GET REQUESTS AFTER A WEDDING TO PAINT FROM A PHOTO? A. Yes, when they really want the ceremony painted, this helps, and I can also paint from a photo during the reception. If the couple wants their ceremony painted, but the ceremony is very short, painting the ceremony from a photo while at the reception is a great idea. It allows the couple to have a live event painter there providing entertainment for their guests while capturing the ceremony on canvas. Q. HOW MANY WEDDINGS DO YOU DO IN A YEAR? A. Approximately 30 per year currently. (Cont)

THE LIVE PAINTER KELLY BOYETT Kelly Boyett is a self-taught artist currently sharing her love of art as a Live Event Painter. She was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, and raised in a small town in Texas. As far back as she can remember, she was artistic and creative...it just came naturally for her. Since relocating to Nola in 2011, the city has become her muse, filling her with inspiration for her art. As Kelly has a passion for "all things worn by time" and anything vintage, these things are reflected in her work today. Kelly has painted many weddings and corporate events. Her live event painting performances at weddings allow her to recreate her surroundings with paint in just a few hours, a snapshot in time on canvas, to be cherished for a lifetime. PHOTO: MIKE LIRETTE OF RED LEAF WEDDINGS

Q. HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DOING LIVE EVENT PAINTING? A. I have been doing this now for 2 years. I moved from Shreveport where I went to college, while working as an assistant for Painting with a Twist at one of their franchises. I ended up having to teach a class in place of the teacher one day, and realized how much I enjoyed it. They put me on the schedule to teach, and realized I was made for this. I moved to New Orleans where there was a corporate headquarters of Painting with a Twist, and was hired as a Corporate Artist, hiring and training artists. I started doing wedding paintings 2 years ago. A friend of a friend asked me if I would do it, so I decided to give it a shot. I was happy with the turnout at my first wedding and booked a second wedding in Dallas. My reputation has built since then. Q. DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE. A. I lean more towards impressionism...being a self-taught artist I have trained myself to reproduce almost anything. I learned by mimicking others’ styles. My work at Painting with a Twist has helped me become a fast painter, which helps with having to paint quickly at a wedding...it also helped me loosen up and my style started to change. It has become more impressionistic and expresses freedom. I use acrylic to start with so the painting will dry faster, then finish with oil for the texture. Q. HOW MANY WEDDINGS HAVE YOU DONE IN THE LAST 2 YEARS? A. About 20, and I already have bookings going into 2016. Q. DO THE CLIENTS TAKE THE PAINTING HOME AT THE END OF THE NIGHT? A. They can take the painting home at the end of the night. For a small additional fee, I can take it home and add more detail to make it more special for the couple.

Mardi Gras Indian Show New Orleans Best Wedding Entertainment

Q. DOES ANYONE EVER CALL TO HAVE A PAINTING MADE FROM A PHOTO? A. Yes, it can be done, but I do not like to do portraits as much as the live event painting where I can capture the personalities of the people. This is what represents me as an artist. Q. ANYTHING YOU WOULD LIKE OUR READERS TO KNOW ABOUT YOU AS AN ARTIST? A. I think one thing that I am proud of is that where I came from there were no resources for artists. I grew up in a very small town, with a graduating class of about 45. Even with no resources, it’s something that I feel I have been blessed with. I am also happy that New Orleans has provided an outlet for me to share my work with people while nurturing me as an artist. I feel appreciated here. I fell in love with this city when I first visited at age 12, and knew something was always pulling me here, and decided to come here at age 24. Despite no resources growing up, the city gives me love and support as an artist.

A: The current trends in bridal are all about the backs. We are seeing all sorts of interesting back treatments, illusion, lace, fabric draping, and jewelry. We are also seeing the use of texture in the form of new fabrics, beading, feathers and embroidery. Q: What colors and styles are you loving and seeing brides getting excited about? A: For bridesmaids it's all about mixing and matching.: colors, fabrics, and textures. We are seeing a lot of sequins and different fabrics like lace and tulle for a more ethereal look. Q: What do you see on the horizon in bridal fashion? A: I think the movement that is focusing on individuality is going to continue. It's no longer about what is traditional or a uniform look. Being unique is very important and I think that is here to stay. When a woman is confident in what she's wearing, when it represents her personality and who she is, that's the game changer. It's all about being confident and owning your look. Q: Tell us about your favorite designers. What draws you to their style? A: Valerie and Stephanie with Val Stefani are absolute geniuses. They have an eye for unique designs. They aren't afraid to step out of the box and experiment with something new, yet they always keep it classy and elegant. They know what works on a woman's body and have designs that are flattering on all body types. They also grew up in the industry so they have an extensive background in the bridal industry. I think that gives them an edge.

Q: What are the top 3 things a bride needs to do to make her gown shopping a pleasant and productive experience? A: First, too many opinions can ruin an appointment. It's wonderful to include the important people in your life but nothing is worse than seeing a bride find her dream dress only to have the people she's brought with her interject with opinions that differ from hers. Second, do your research. Have ideas about what you like and bring pictures. Also know what works for your budget. Lastly, have an open mind, be willing to try on one or two gowns that you may not love at first sight. You might just be surprised. Q: What advice would you give to a South Louisiana bride about choosing her gown? A: Make sure your dress fits your venue. If you're having an outdoor wedding and it’s during the warmer months, you want to chose a lighter fabric. Fit is also very important. If you have a tendency to pull at strapless tops think about adding straps. You don't want to be fidgeting and pulling at your dress the entire day. A bustle is key when it comes to partying and dancing at the reception. You want to dance the night away without having anyone step on your train. A bustle is best way to show your dress off while allowing you to move. A second “reception” dress is also an option to add another element of style to your wedding.

This really guides my inspiration for designing "the dress." Q: What "rules" of bridal fashion can you safely say are not necessary to follow any longer? A: There's such a big push now for the bride to celebrate her individuality and what makes her unique. I've seen the “traditional” rules almost disappear. Color is no longer taboo. Blush, gold, grey, light blue are all becoming more popular and increasingly more common in bridal fashion. There's not one or two popular silhouettes anymore. There is so much to choose from! Q: Tell us about the CoCo Couture line you're designing now. What are your plans and vision? What inspired you to embark on this adventure? A: I'm going for a more affordable couture look. I'm loving fun details and unexpected elements. As a woman it's important to feel special and unique. I want each gown I design to be unique and one of a kind, like the woman who wears it. I look at industry styles and note what I think works for our Southern culture and climate, as well as meet with my team to discuss what brides are looking for. I take inspiration from everywhere. My travels, artwork and people I meet...there is so much inspiration all around.

Q: What information should a bride give you to help her find or design "the dress"?

Q: Tell us about your creative process in designing wedding gowns.

A: First and foremost, her venue and her vision for her wedding. Knowing the details of the big day help me to share in her vision of what overall look she's going for. If I’m designing a custom gown, planning a few bridal consultations is important so I can get to know the bride, her style, and her personality.

A: Instead of envisioning the final product I look at designs, fabrics and details and see what works together. I always leave the door open to make changes or adjustments before I finalize a design. My designs are a very fluid concept until I feel that they are just right.

LOOK DAZZLING ON YOUR

Wedding Day

PHOTO: STUDIO TRAN

TIPS FROM ANN MARIE WHITE, OWNER/LEAD MAKEUP ARTIST AND STYLIST OF DAZZLE DOLL PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP & HAIR ON LOCATION

"Over the years I have noticed that there are some beauty preparations that many brides do not think about or simple routines they wait too long to begin. While planning your wedding can be one of the busiest seasons of your life, it is important to remember to set aside some "me time" for your beauty routines. It is also very important to know what you can do to have the best outcome with your makeup artist and stylist on the day of your wedding." ~Ann Marie

Start a morning and evening skin routine. Use face wash and moisturizer designed for your skin type. Using a Clarisonic skin cleansing brush once a day with your face wash will create a wonderfully smooth skin surface that's perfect for makeup application. Get regular hair cuts from a professional stylist. Doing this will ensure that you will have an ideal shape to your style and your ends will stay beautifully curled. Eyebrows are the picture frames of the face. See a professional brow artist for regular eyebrow shaping. If you prefer waxing, have your brows waxed two days prior to the wedding. Schedule a trial run with your stylist and makeup artist. This will set your mind at ease, save time on your wedding day, and allow your look to be fully perfected.

Ask your makeup artist for the name of your lip color so that you can purchase your own to have at the wedding for touch ups. Ask your stylist if clip in extensions are a good option for you. Having these added to your style will add thickness and/or length if you are wearing your hair down. Extensions will also add fullness to an up-do. The night before your wedding, shampoo and blow-dry your hair. Do not flat iron or use any other heat tools besides the blow dryer. Doing so can cause your curls not to hold.

“Playing a Small Part in Your Big Day

Wash your face right before you sit down to have your makeup done on the day of your wedding. Remember to wear a robe or shirt that buttons so you won't bump into your hair and makeup while changing into your dress. (Avoid shirts with stiff collars as these tend to rub against up-dos causing pieces of hair to come loose.)

them run long: a unity candle, hymns that are sung instead of read, flowers to Mother Mary/mothers, signing of the license, a large processional, a full Mass, a long homily and so on. All of these elements can affect your ceremony length and unfortunately a ceremony that runs late can affect the time you have reserved with your limo company. There is the chance that running late could either cause the driver to require additional funds or that you may have to miss out on pictures at the church if they aren’t able to give you extra time beyond what is booked. Speak with your limo company to find out what their policies are and make sure you have enough time reserved.

and know exactly how long the process will take. If you want to have great photos ahead of time, plan with your stylist for everyone to be finished at least 2.5 hours before the ceremony time. 6 -GETTING INTO THE DRESS It's finally time to get the dress on and this is a very exciting moment! Unfortunately, it’s also a moment that can turn stressful very quickly when you realize there are a hundred buttons on your dress that need buttoning and you have ten minutes to get to church! It may sound silly, but we suggest that you practice putting the dress on before your wedding day. Make sure someone knows how to lace up the corset properly, that you have a special hook to button all the buttons or that you’ve practiced how to tie the special bow on the back of the dress. Practicing will also give you a realistic idea of how long it will take so you can plan accordingly. 7 - THE GIFT EXCHANGE Do you have gifts to exchange with your groom, parents or bridal party? If so, consider waiting until your photographer is present to have this special moment captured. 8 - THE FIRST LOOK If you are considering a "First Look," you may need to add additional photography time. Discuss in advance what you plan to do for your first look so we can be prepared. For example, some couples simply want this special moment of seeing each other (anticipation, excitement and expressions) documented and then want

136 | N.O.W. | theNOWBride.com

to jump right into taking all or as many of the formal posed pictures as possible. Other couples not only want this moment captured, but then they want a mini-session where we spend time taking creative images of the couple alone together. And then some couples want all this plus ALL their bridal party and family photos done at this time so they don't have to spend any time following the ceremony on posed pictures. Have a talk with your photographer about adding the right amount of time to your package to accomplish what you want to do.

Considering these tips and being prepared on your wedding day will make your experience much more pleasant and will help make your pictures that much better. To put it simply, prepare to enjoy your wedding!

9 - CREATE A PORTRAIT LIST We recommend that you talk to those who will be required for your group photos (bridal party members, family, grandparents, etc.) and let them know where to be, when to be there, and ask for their cooperation during this process. Usually everyone is ready to get to the reception and have a good time, but getting the formal pictures done in a timely manner is our number one priority (we want you to be able to get to the reception quickly too!). If one person decides to go grab a drink, we will have to wait for that one person to take the photo causing you to lose out on valuable reception time. In some cases, if someone “disappears” you may lose reception time and that person will be left out of the important photo. 10 - CEREMONY LENGTH AND YOUR LIMO COMPANY Usually a Catholic ceremony is about one hour. While an hour is standard, some ceremonies have many elements involved that might make theNOWBride.com | N.O.W |

nspiring I deas IKeepsakes WEDDING KEEPSAKES

Here are some ways to create unique keepsakes from your wedding day that will be one-of-a-kind.

SIGNATURE SHOES: Have your bridesmaids and family sign the bottom of your shoes at your bridal shower or rehearsal dinner. You will carry them all with you down the aisle, when you say your vows, and even while you're dancing. GOWN RE-FASHION: If you're not the type to store your gown, and want to have it incorporated as fashion accessories for you and your groom, have a necktie made from your gown. Fellow Suits makes custom pieces from any fabric, and can accommodate this request. Think of other ways you can work your gown's fabric into special attire! CAPTURING YOUR SEXY.

TIPS FROM PHOTOGRAPHER CELESTE MACKENROTH OF DREAM CATCHER PHOTOGRAPHY FOR YOUR BOUDOIR PHOTO SHOOT We are in love with boudoir photo shoots!!! These photo sessions are especially popular among brides-to-be who want to give the pictures to their fiancé as a pre-wedding gift. But it's not just brides who are doing boudoir photos; these photos also make a great anniversary or birthday gift for your significant other or can be part of your bachelorette party festivities. Adventurous couples sometimes schedule a shoot together! Deciding to capture your beauty in a tasteful, yet sexy boudoir photo shoot can sometimes be a little nervewracking. To help calm those pre-shoot jitters, I’ve put together my top tips to help you relax and make the most of your session. Select a professional boudoir photographer who has experience in capturing the female form. A good boudoir photographer will not only make you comfortable during your shoot, but will also know lighting and posing to flatter your figure and make you look your best. Privacy is important so be sure to select a photographer who edits their own images. Be sure to ask up front who will be seeing your photos! Flattering outfits are a must. Consult with your photographer ahead of time on what she feels will work best with your body type. Your photographer should be able to give you some suggestions on what might look best on you for your shoot. Also, be sure your wardrobe fits properly… if your outfits are too tight or too big, it makes it harder to look your best.

DREAM CATCHER PHOTOGRAPHY

146 | N.O.W. | theNOWBride.com

Speaking of looking your best….for beautiful skin, drink lots of water the week prior to your shoot and be sure to moisturize. Pay attention to your manicure and pedicure and touch up your hair color one week prior to the shoot. Be sure to use sunscreen if you’ll be outdoors before the shoot and watch out for tan lines! It helps to understand that no matter how great you look outside, looking sexy for photos comes from how you feel inside. All of us have little things that we feel could be improved physically, but it’s important not to focus on these things. Be confident in who you are and let the “sexy” in you take over! If you’re nervous about going alone, consider doing a bridesmaids or friends boudoir shoot…it can be the ultimate girls night out experience! The interaction between friends who are doing a boudoir shoot together is a fantastic experience all unto itself! The more, “they” say, the merrier! Couples Boudoir can also be quite elegant. Think about couples boudoir as though you’re capturing an image for the front cover of a romance paperback… now that's sexy! In twenty years, you will wish you had done it while you were young! Now, go schedule that boudoir photo session you’ve always wanted to do. You won’t regret it!

I nspiring deas I Photography by Louis perfectly captured this beautiful moment as the bride and her father walked through the doors of the church. To get a great image like this one, chat with your photographer and plan the shot. It will be important to make sure the lighting and several other factors are all in place. Ask your wedding planner to clear the area behind you and ask your ushers to redirect guests who might unknowingly walk into the photo.

Kasey Titone and Delvin Breaux July 18, 2015 | North Photography

While vacationing in Aspen with family, Delvin planned to surprise Kasey and propose to her. It was their last day in Aspen as everyone gathered for dinner at a mountain top restaurant. There was a guitarist/singer entertaining the crowd that night. As Kasey was walking to the table, he stopped her and asked her a question, and as they talked for a few moments, he told her to turn around. Kasey says, "Right behind me was Delvin, on one knee, in front of the whole restaurant." He wasted no time saying, "Kasey, I love you and want to spend the rest of my life with you‌will you marry me?" Through her tears, Kasey said "Yes. Their wedding date and location would depend on Delvin's schedule as they waited to see which NFL team he would sign with. Kasey says, "We were completely thrilled when he was going to play with the New Orleans Saints." July, only 5 months away, was the month that would fit with Delvin's schedule. Kasey walked down the aisle to a beautiful piano version of "From This Moment" by Shania Twain, a song that said everything she wanted Delvin to know. Kasey and her brother shared a very special moment, a "bride and brother" dance to a song chosen by him, "I Knew Her First" by Heartland. At the end of the evening, a traditional New Orleans Second Line was to follow, beginning in the ballroom and leading everyone outside to gather for the couple's big send off. Kasey says, "It was definitely a highlight of the night. As their guests and family were cheering, Kasey and Delvin rode off into the night in a carriage.

Sofia Lamas and Joseph Weston November 8, 2014 | Mark Eric

Sofia and Joseph met and became friends and colleagues after college, working together for over a year as event planners traveling around the United States. Their friendship soon flourished into love for one another. A memorable and romantic evening ensued as Joseph made plans to propose to Sofia. As the couple's birthdays were only 3 days apart, dinner plans were made to celebrate their birthdays together with Joseph's parents. On the evening Joseph chose to propose, Sofia arrived home to find a path of candles and petals leading her outside. Joey was waiting on one knee surrounded by 2,000 candles and lanterns. “It was so intimate and breathtaking!" Sofia shares. The night was young, and more surprises were yet to come as Joseph had planned a surprise engagement party also! The couple chose a fall wedding at an exquisite New Orleans southern mansion, going for the look and feel for early 1900's in New Orleans. Sofia says, "We wanted our guests to feel they were taken 'back in time' to a beautiful plantation home in the south." Sofia also incorporated many meaningful cultural and religious traditions in their ceremony, including many Cuban traditions that have been passed down through generations in her family. Sofia and Joseph shared those timeless traditions that day, symbolic of their unity in marriage together for their entire lives.

Kimmy Tran and Timothy Pham March 7, 2015 | Studio Tran

Timothy proposed to Kimmy after three months of planning. As Kimmy's friends were in town for Thanksgiving, she didn't think anything of their plans to go out to dinner. Kimmy says, "I thought we were just going out for dinner at Chophouse right next to the New Orleans Board of Trade." As she walked into the courtyard, Kimmy saw carpets of rose petals and flickering candles everywhere. There were people standing around and a photo crew by the fountain, making Kimmy think that a movie was being filmed. "Before I knew it, the cameras starting coming at me," shares Kimmy. "I finally noticed Tim standing by the fountain, and it hit me...he had invited all of our close friends and family to the Board of Trade to witness and celebrate the proposal...all were cheering and clapping...it was the most surreal and magical set up I've ever seen." As Kimmy walked up to Timothy, he got down on one knee to propose. Kimmy, of course, said "Yes." Wedding plans began and the couple chose to wed at St. Mary's Assumption Church, with a reception to follow at Crystal Palace. On Kimmy and Timothy's wedding day, Kimmy walked down the aisle as her sister played a sweet and beautiful melody, the piano version of “Flightless Bird, American Mouth, from the movie Twilight, one of Kimmy's favorite series. The couple wanted a very romantic wedding, full of flowers and candlelight. They chose blush and gold with hints of black for a little dramatic feel and left the rest up to their wedding planners. Kimmy, a fan of sweets, says, "The only thing I did request was an all out dessert bar!" As they stepped into the reception, they were nothing short of amazed. "Our mouths just dropped," says Kimmy. "It was the most gorgeous reception we had ever laid our eyes on! We were ecstatic!" Kimmy and Timothy's vision had come to life for their big day. They danced to Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud" and spent the evening celebrating with friends and family.

Stephanie Bertucci and Jon Martin

Amanda Bertucci and Dominick Morales

March 21, 2015 | Images by Robert T

Stephanie and Amanda shared many things in life together as sisters and on March 21st, 2015 they would share a wedding! Stephanie and Jon It was Valentine's Day, 2014, when Jon chose to propose to Stephanie. The two had previously agreed not to exchange gifts...they would go out on a date that night. Stephanie was running late to pick Jon up, but he insisted she come in for a minute. Stephanie, unaware of Jon's plan, insisted he hurry out to the car. Finally, agreeing to go inside - Jon would not take "no" for an answer - Stephanie found a beautiful arrangement of roses on the table. Stephanie was upset, as she had nothing for Jon, turned and left through the door thinking Jon was right behind her. As she turned back, he was on one knee holding a ring. Stephanie could not believe this was happening, she, of course, said "Yes". Stephanie had always dreamed of getting married in the St. Louis Cathedral. To her dismay, the waiting list was long and she and Jon did not want a long engagement. Somehow, Jon managed to book the church of Stephanie's dreams. To surprise her, he placed a note with a date on it next to the bed. When she awoke, she asked Jon about the note and he replied, "Baby, that's the day you become my wife in the Cathedral like you always dreamed."

Amanda and Dominick Amanda and Dominick met and dated in high school..and as she puts it, "I knew since I was 15 years old that I loved and would marry him." Years passed and the couple learned they were expecting a baby. Dominick proposed to Amanda at their "gender reveal" party where they were elated to learn they would have a boy! Amanda says, "Dominick began to talk about how much he loved me and how excited he was to be having a son with me." He then got down on one knee in front of their family and friends and asked Amanda to marry him. Stephanie and Amanda decided they would have a "double wedding" day. They both also added lace from their mother's wedding dress to their gowns, veils and bouquets. The sisters walked down the aisle together and stood side by side on the altar to exchange their vows. Both couples had their first dance together as newlyweds to "My Best Friend" by Tim McGraw, a song with special meaning for Stephanie and Jon, as well as for Amanda and Dominick. The sisters agree, the day was perfect and they loved sharing their big day with each other!

Demi deLeaumont and Jereme Bufkin March 14, 2015 | GK Photography

On the day Jereme decided to propose to Demi, he surprised her with a hot-air balloon ride. Demi says, "We landed from our balloon ride, and my mom and Jereme's mom were there to greet us. He then proposed...I was completely shocked." Jereme and Demi wanted a traditional New Orleans style wedding in the French Quarter, one that would definitely include a Second Line. Demi says, "Jereme picked the date, I just wanted a spring wedding." The couple chose the historic St. Louis Cathedral as their ceremony location, and the Omni Royal Orleans Hotel Grand Ballroom for their reception. Plans for a classic New Orleans styled wedding had begun. Demi wished to honor her late grandmothers on her wedding day. The long-held tradition for the bride-to-be to wear "Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue," would partially be fulfilled with an item from one of her grandmothers, a light blue garter. As it was truly "something old," Demi says when "my maid of honor attempted to put the garter on me, it broke in half and dust particles flew in the air." The room filled with laughter. Their idea to pin it back together failed, as more dust flew, again much laughter filled the room. Demi ended up putting a fragile piece of it inside her dress. Demi also carried her other grandmother's Rosary as she walked down the aisle. Demi's mother, her best friend, had played a huge role in planning the wedding. Demi chose her to be her matron-of-honor. Demi says, "I am so lucky to have had her there through the planning and celebrating." Demi and Jereme's first dance together was "You're My Best Friend" by Tim McGraw, a song they would sing to each other when they started dating. To fully achieve their wish to have a "New Orleans style wedding," they completed the night with a traditional Second Line parade. Demi and Jereme were then off to their honeymoon in Jamaica.

Jessica Low and Taylor Nobles May 23, 2015 | Stevie Ramos Photography

Jessica and Taylor met on Match.com. The two began an exciting journey with each other that would lead to friendship and love. Jessica says, "Taylor proposed to me in the middle of my grandmother's living room in front of my family. He completely took me off guard!" Her reply was, "Yes". Jessica and Taylor decided to marry in the spring, one reason was to not miss football games, one of many things the two have in common..being fans of the New Orleans Saints. The couple chose to have a classic French Quarter New Orleans wedding. Their venue would be Maison Dupuy Hotel, a historic and luxurious hotel only a few blocks from famed Bourbon Street. The wedding date chosen was Memorial Day, so their outof-town guests could make a long weekend trip to New Orleans, experiencing the city and sharing Jessica and Taylor's big day at the same time. As their big day would arrive, Jessica walked down the aisle to "Here Comes The Bride", played by a string quartet. Jessica says, "We kept our ceremony in the courtyard short and sweet." The couple did a "first look" and family photos prior to the reception, which allowed for a desired "carefree" reception. In keeping with their vision and theme, Jessica says, "Our Second Line parade through the French Quarter definitely made the night." Fleur de Lis decor, great food, drinks, and music would bring the couple's envisioned celebration to life. In line with the couple's love of football, the Groom's cake reflected this by featuring a Drew Brees theme. The couple who were both in search of a perfect match, were now one, off to a romantic Honeymoon in Saint Kitts and Nevis, a two island country in the West Indies.

Heather McLaughlin and Trevor Darby December 13, 2014 | Eau Claire Photographics

Heather and Trevor met in Cork, Ireland at a tag rugby game. Ironically, or the "Luck of the Irish" as Trevor claims, as they learned more about each other, they discovered they previously worked and studied at the same laboratory while earing their PHDs. Having many things in common, Heather and Trevor's love grew and destiny would bring them together as husband and wife. On a weekend trip to New Orleans during the Christmas holiday season, as they sat beneath an oak tree in Jackson Square, Trevor seized the opportunity of the romantic setting and proposed to Heather. She said "Yes!" as a street musician played "It's A Wonderful Life" in the background making their special occasion even more memorable. "My vision was to incorporate Trevor's Irish heritage with my American heritage, joining both our worlds with the Lord's Prayer done in Irish at Mass, shares Heather. Heather also wore emerald green earrings as she graced the aisle in a classic 70-year-old family wedding gown and added touches of emerald green to her shoes and the attire of the entire wedding party. As Heather and Trevor's fathers toasted the newly wed bride and groom, Heather's vision was fulfilled, as she says, "Two Families Became ONE".

Christa Russell and Alexander Hill April 25, 2015 | Fine Art Exposure with Dream Catcher Photography

Christa and Alex had many things in common, one being they were both fascinated with the history of Venice, Italy, and always wanted to go there. When Alex decided to propose to Christa, he wanted it to be someplace special, so Venice it would be. Alex says, "I aimed high for that." Plans were made to be there during a festival in Italy called "Redentore," making their occasion even more romantic and memorable. All went as planned and Christa had no idea of what was yet to come. As their gondolier paddled them along the Grand Canal, they passed a building that was once a trading post for nearly a thousand years, and all the treasures of the world, gold, silk, ivory and spices, came through that spot to the rest of Europe. After Alex explained this to Christa, he said to her, "None of those things mean anything to me compared to you, you are the greatest treasure in the world to me...Christa Marie Russell, will you marry me?" Christa said "Yes." As he slipped the ring on her finger and they kissed, the greatest fireworks display in the world lit up the sky above them as they blissfully floated on the water, in Venice, in their gondola. His desire "to aim high in the sky" was fulfilled for them both that night. After much planning and work, with gracious help from family and friends, their ceremony and reception were held at Alex's beautiful childhood home. Their goal was to have an amazing party. Christa surprised Alex by walking down the aisle to a theme song from one of their all time favorite movies, Jurassic Park. Alex was touched and says "It was all too good, and so very 'Christa' of her." They also included the wedding party in their vows, as the groomsmen read Christa's vows for her to agree to, and the bridesmaids read Alex's vows for him to agree to. It was fun and different, yet still sweet. All enjoyed it, especially the bride and groom. For their first dance as husband and wife, they danced to the Michael BublĂŠ version of "Feeling Good," which was one of their favorites even before they met. As Christa and Alex danced the night away, at evening's end they were sent off through a gauntlet of sparklers, lighting the way to their new life together.

Catherine Monica and Devin Masters March 20, 2015 | Lauren Carroll Photography

Catherine and Devin had something in common when they met, a very strong faith. One of their first encounters would be in a donut shop sharing God’s love, a meeting neither would chalk up to coincidence. As it would turn out, Catherine and Devin were literally to become a "match made in Heaven." Catherine says, "An instant bond was formed that day, that stayed with us both." In October of 2013, two had become friends, but love was in the air. Catherine recalls, "Devin told me, 'I know what I want, and it is you. I am sold. You just let me know when you are ready for me to pursue you." Both Catherine and Devin relied on their faith to lead them and it did, to one another. For Devin's birthday, Catherine, upon the suggestion of their pastor, planned a surprise party for him. When he arrived though, Devin's lack of surprise was apparent. Catherine thought to herself, "Geez, how did he know?" Catherine belted out to Devin, "I got you." But it was Devin who “got” Catherine. The whole party had been his idea, planned with their pastor, so he could propose in front of all their family and friends. “Catherine Monica, I love you. Will you marry me?" he asked. Through tears of joy, she said "Yes!” Wedding plans would begin and the happy couple would marry the first day of spring, in the woods behind the Mission Church, on Catherine's grandfather's birthday. "Our vision for our wedding day was for a beautiful, authentic, intimate and nostalgic event,” says Catherine. They achieved this by planning, designing, and including as décor, items close to their hearts. With the help of friends and family, their vision became real. On their wedding day, Catherine and Devin shared their first kiss on the altar in front of their loved ones. Catherine fondly recalls, "It would be one of the best moments of the day, and something we will never forget."

Michele Burke and Kevin Rome June 27, 2015 | North Photography

Michele knew Kevin, her brother’s high school friend, for many years before they officially became a couple. As fate would have it, a Saints football game in New Orleans united the two and they began dating and fell in love. As time passed and their love and relationship grew, Kevin decided it was time to take their relationship to a new level. He was going to ask Michele to marry him. Kevin was going to Tennessee on a work-related trip and Michele joined him. Michele says, "He booked us a Bed and Breakfast along the Tennessee River, and that's when he proposed to me. Michele said "Yes." Both Michele and Kevin, being from South Louisiana, incorporated their love of crawfish into their reception theme. Kevin's "crawfish pot" Groom's cake and chocolate favors for their guests, in the shape of crawfish, were both fun ways to incorporate the theme. In keeping with the traditional New Orleans Second Line parade, the guests were given handkerchiefs and umbrellas with a crawfish imprinted on them. Michele and Kevin achieved their vision for a "southern style, classic wedding" as they celebrated their new life together as husband and wife.

Jennifer Centola and Brett Mariast October 18, 2014 | Welch Photography

Jennifer and Brett were destined to meet and their love story would become a perfect "fit." Jennifer began a career as a manager at a fitness center in 2012. Brett, having just graduated the same year from LSU, began job searching with full intentions to join the Navy in late 2013. While looking for the perfect job, Brett decided that he would make time to focus on a healthy lifestyle and joined the fitness center Jennifer managed. As the stars began to align for the couple, they would become co-workers. Brett accepted a job offer from Jennifer to become a personal trainer at the gym. Through working together to inspire people to live healthy lifestyles, Jennifer and Brett developed a friendship far beyond co-workers and began dating. The feelings they shared for each other could not be ignored. In early 2014,Brett would ask Jennifer to be his wife. Attending morning Mass on Sundays, followed by breakfast at their favorite restaurant became a tradition for the couple. Jennifer was surprised to see both her own and Brett's families as they entered the restaurant one Sunday, unaware of what was to happen next. As she turned to look at Brett, he was down on one knee and asked for her hand in marriage. Tradition and family are very important to both Jennifer and Brett. In 2014, the two were wed at Holy Name of Mary Church where many of her family’s important events have taken place. Brett's choice to continue working with Jennifer and forego joining the Navy was a "life changing decision" for them both.

Jennifer Turner and Olumide Olafioye July 10, 2015 | Cierra Johnson Photography

In 2012, while attending a graduation party with mutual friends, Jennifer saw a handsome guy in a suit walking by. He said, 'Hello, Jennifer Turner'." Jennifer said 'Hello' back and giggled with friends as he walked away. “But,” Jennifer says, "with those three simple words, a spark was ignited." As the night ended, the two met again as they left. Olumide asked if he could call Jennifer sometime. Jennifer gave him her number, and from that night, Jennifer says, "a friendship grew into a love.” In 2014, Jennifer's parents decided to make a trip to Michigan and visit Jennifer and Olumide for the week of the 4th of July holiday and to celebrate their 32nd wedding anniversary, July 10th. On the last night of their visit, Olumide planned an anniversary dinner to celebrate Jennifer's parents’ anniversary, but there was another celebration in the works that same night. After dinner, the chef brought out dessert. "As the chef removed the cover, to my surprise, he revealed a plate with the words, 'Will You Marry Me" and a ring box,” says Jennifer. “Olumide got down on one knee and asked me to marry him in front of everyone, and I said 'Yes.’" The couple chose July 10th, 2015, an exact year from their engagement, and the same day Jennifer's parents got married 33 years before as their wedding date. The guests walked into the church filled with beautiful fresh white flowers. Jennifer chose to walk down the aisle to the song, "I Found Love." "I chose that song because the words truly spoke to how I felt when I met my husband," says Jennifer. As the newlyweds exited a Phantom Rolls Royce at the reception, all were treated to a fireworks display to begin the festivities.

Lindsey Harper and RandyBoudreaux April 10, 2015 | Photography by Louis

Lindsey and Randy met and began dating in high school. As time passed and Randy was ready to propose, he decided to recreate their first date. It would be a romantic one. The two had pizza, a tour of the New Orleans Museum of Art and then a walk in the Sculpture Garden. "He proposed to me in front of the "LOVE" sculpture," says Lindsey. Of course, Lindsey said "Yes." Lindsey and Randy were married at St. Francis Xavier Church and Lindsey walked down the aisle to the traditional, "Here Comes the Bride" march. On her bouquet, Lindsey attached pictures of her beloved, Randy, and borrowed pieces of her mother's wedding dress to tie her bouquet together. The Reception followed at The Balcony Ballroom. The newlyweds danced their first dance to "When A Man Loves A Woman" by Journey. The couple wanted a traditional New Orleans wedding, which was achieved throughout their night, including a second line parade, money dance, and photos taken in the French Quarter. Lindsey says, "It was a magical whirlwind! We loved every moment of our wedding day."

Danielle Daboval and Christopher DeGeorge January 31, 2015 | Oscar Rajo Photography

Danielle and Christopher met on a night out with their best friends, who happened to be siblings. Danielle says, "I didn't want to go out that night, but when I saw Christopher, I asked, 'Who's the hottie?" A chance night out would soon form a loving relationship. The couple took a romantic Valentine's Day trip to Las Vegas. Danielle was on their hotel balcony overlooking the Bellagio waterfalls taking pictures. "[Christopher] came out to join me, to my surprise, and dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him,” Danielle recalls fondly. Of course she said “Yes!” Danielle and Christopher's vision for their Wedding day was "classic and timeless," incorporating colors of black, white and blush. The two married at St. Joseph Church in New Orleans with a reception following at Magnolia Plantation. Danielle walked down the aisle wearing an exquisite Pronovias gown, adding a special pin from her mom. She also wore her grandmother's ring, as Danielle says, "a way to have her present." As Danielle and her dad are avid fans of "Dancing With The Stars," they were inspired to forego the slow traditional father/daughter dance, and they danced instead to "Happy," by Pharrell Williams. Danielle and Christopher's "Happy" occasion was to continue with a destination honeymoon to the romantic Caribbean Island of St. Lucia.

Eugenie Moreau and Hal Blackman May 24, 2015 | Creative Images Photography

Although Eugenie and Hal met in 2008, the two did not start dating until many years later. Hal asked Eugenie to dinner, and one date led to another and the two decided to continue seeing each other. As Hal's intentions were to "take this to another level," the tenacious Eugenie made Hal aware of her "Dating Policy"...she did not date anyone exclusively unless there was a "rock on her finger." The next move would be his. Hal's plan of action was unique and clever..he would put something in writing: "The Contract" had an expiration date of two months, which they both executed, and the happy couple was off and running. When Eugenie sent a picture of her new beau to her mother, her phone rang immediately after. It was her mom screaming through the phone, "You must break up with him immediately!" When asked why, her mom replied, "Because he looks like Daddy." Never noticing the resemblance until then, Eugenie thought..."I now have a boyfriend

named Hal who looks like my daddy named Al...oh my, what's a girl to do?" Eugenie's family would finally meet Hal during an eventful weekend in New Orleans at her cousin's wedding. Everyone wanted to see who this Hal, who looked like Al, was. Fortunately, Hal was well received by all. Love was in the air in so many ways that weekend. With the expiration date on "The Contract" and the Christmas holidays near, Hal decided to present a second "Contract" to Eugenie as an extension of the first one, and more importantly as a decoy of his real intentions to propose in front of her whole family on Christmas Eve. Eugenie initially rejected this new contract, but soon after changed her mind. Hal included Eugenie's son, Lohan, in his plans to propose telling him, "Well, I am going to do it tonight, and I want you to help me ask your mom."

Lohan happily agreed and that evening he belted out, "Everyone, everyone, family, I need you to sit down in the living room," and proceeded with a lovely speech, ending with "Mr. Hal has a question for my mom." Hal approached Eugenie and asked, "What are you doing for the rest of your life?" He then got down on one knee. It was a fairy tale moment! The couple had yet another "Contract" to sign, their Marriage License, signifying their love and commitment for each other, which they executed at their Roaring 20's, Hollywood Glam wedding at The Ritz Carlton in New Orleans a few months after their engagement. All the stops were pulled out and the fabulous event was executed with much excitement and no end of thoughtful details. With all "Contracts" fulfilled, Eugenie and Hal's fairy tale love story had only just begun. The couple were off to a romantic honeymoon in Greece to begin their lives together, "Happily Ever After."

Maci and Brian were introduced to each other through mutual friends. Destiny brought the two together, and though neither knew it yet, their love would grow, and would bring the two together as husband and wife. Brian had plans to propose to Maci on Christmas Eve. Maci told Brian she wanted a Yorkie for Christmas. Well, Maci got a dog, along with another gift. As Macy says, "He gave me a stuffed dog on Christmas Eve with the "ring" attached around its neck. Maci had the perfect date and season already picked out for she and Brian to marry. She says, "I wanted an even number, and '18' is my favorite number, and October was a perfect month, not too hot, not too cool." So, plans began for an October 18th 2014 Wedding. Their ceremony took place at Immaculate Conception Jesuit Church, with the reception following at the elegant and historical Federal Ballroom. Dark romance was the choice of Maci and Brian's theme. Dark red roses and dark purple flowers would be the colors of incorporated into Maci's bridesmaids' bouquets, and also in the flowers in their center pieces on the tables at the reception. In New Orleans fashion, Maci and Brian Second Lined to the reception. Black and gold fleur de lis handkerchiefs were handed out to their guests as they joined in the parade. Heather Nolan and Christopher Dabe December 5, 2014 | North Photography

Christopher chose New Year's Eve to propose to Heather. Christopher tried to get Heather to go out, but being unaware of his big surprise, Heather was already in her comfortable clothes and had a pot of gumbo on the stove ready to "ring" in the New Year with Christopher at home. Christopher's idea of "ringing in the New Year" was quite literal though. When Heather walked into the living room with a bowl of gumbo and a glass of champagne in her hands, ready to celebrate what she thought would be a "low-key" night, she was surprised to see Christopher had placed an engagement ring on the coffee table. The beginning of a New Year also became the beginning of Heather and Christopher's commitment to one another as husband and wife. Christopher's family came in from Chicago and many friends from Texas were in attendance. Heather walked down the aisle at Rosy’s Jazz Hall to Elvis’ "I Can't Help Falling In Love With You." Christopher’s cousin officiated their wedding and Heather says, "because he knew us so well, our ceremony was very personal." The two even wrote their own vows, adding an even more meaningful and personal touch.

Brittney Baudean and Von Herman April 18, 2015 | David Tompkins Photography

Brittney and Von met as teenagers through their church youth group. After losing touch for a few years, they found each other again through Facebook and they began dating. In holding to classic tradition, Brittney says, "Von asked my parents for permission to marry me, long before he ever proposed." Her mother was so excited, she immediately booked the Ritz Carlton for the wedding. Brittney had no idea that plans for their future together had begun. Von chose to propose to Brittney in City Park on a romantic gondola ride. "He tricked me," shares Brittney, "because it was my sister's anniversary and we were supposed to be on a double date celebrating." Just as the boat neared a bridge, he popped the question. As they came out from under the bridge, to Brittney's surprise, both of their families came into view. They had gathered ahead to greet them and celebrate the occasion with them. Brittany says, "My two new stepchildren were holding signs saying, 'BB Will You Marry My Daddy?'...it was the sweetest thing." Of course, Brittney said "Yes." The couple had a vision for their wedding day, and planning would ensue. Brittney says, "We wanted something timeless, classic, romantic, and with a 1950's feel." Brittney walked down the aisle to "I Can't Help Falling In Love With You" by Elvis Presley, one of her favorite singers. Brittney says, "Ever since I was a little girl and watched Blue Hawaii, I knew I wanted to walk down the aisle to that song." As Von's two children nervously walked down the aisle with her niece, Brittney recalls, "It was a sweet moment and one of my favorite memories of our new family. Von's children have become a piece of my heart." After the ceremony, Brittney and Von slipped away together and spent a few moments together alone as their guests enjoyed refreshments. Brittney says, "These few moments with my new husband were magical."

Brittney and Von chose "It's A Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong for their first dance together as husband and wife. Brittney says, "It was sentimental, because after all, this is New Orleans." As the two danced, Jared from Heirloom Live Event Painting captured the moment live on canvas, creating a timeless work of art and a memento from their wedding day they will never forget.

Kendra Donald and Alvin Porter February 28, 2015 | Studio Tran

Although Kendra and Alvin attended the same high school and knew of each other, they officially met on Facebook years later. Kendra says, "Social media definitely has its perks." As the two got together, the rest is history. Kendra says, "Alvin had me plan a Christmas party, while unknowingly [I was] planning our engagement party‌ everyone knew except me." Halfway through the party, Alvin had his nieces spread rose petals all over the floor. There was a mime dancing to John Legend's "You and I" and then "Marry Me" by R. Kelly. Our kids brought the ring and Alvin got on one knee and proposed. Kendra said, "Yes." There would be no particular wedding theme. Kendra says, "I just know I wanted it to be beautiful, with many flowers." The decor would be mostly white, since Kendra's dress would not be white. Kendra and Alvin brought a little New Orleans flavor to downtown Baton Rouge with a Mardi Gras Indian and Second Line band, leading them from the ceremony to the reception. Kendra says, "Our kids rode with us in a horse and carriage, while our wedding party and guests followed behind. That was the highlight of our day!" The guests were in awe as they saw the beautiful reception dÊcor including a suspended cake. The couple also had an artist capture the reception on canvas as they enjoyed their party. Everything about Kendra and Alvin's wedding was elegant and impeccable. Kendra says, "The entire day was perfect and this was a memorable event Alvin and I will cherish for a lifetime."
