Engagement Party WHEN: This party usually takes place not long after the couple announce their engagement – typically within 1-3 months. A best practice is to schedule this party after the official wedding date has been set. HOSTED BY: Typically an engagement party is hosted by either set of parents, but anyone close to the couple may host. WHO TO INVITE: Family, close friends of the couple and the bridal party. PURPOSE: This event allows the families to meet (if they haven’t already) and the bridal party to be officially introduced. It’s also a great opportunity to announce the wedding date!

Some brides plan a spa visit as part of the day – this is a great way to relax and be pampered with your besties in the week leading up to the wedding .

HOSTED BY: Traditionally hosted by the Groom’s parents, but may also be hosted by the Bride’s family or the couple themselves. WHO TO INVITE: Family, the bridal party and their significant others and out of town guests. PURPOSE: This event is a mini celebration leading up to the wedding day festivities. This is a great time for speeches to be made and memories to be shared. The couple might also use this event as an opportunity to present gifts to their parents and bridal party.

Post Reception Bar Crawl WHEN: Immediately following the wedding reception. HOSTED BY: The happy couple. WHO TO INVITE: Everyone. PURPOSE: This is an extension of the official wedding celebration. Many guests, especially those who are visiting from out of town, will enjoy the opportunity to see the local nightlife and continue the party! This may be an impromptu event (with guests footing their own bill for drinks and club admissions) or organized in advance by the couple with specific destinations in mind. If organized in advance, the couple may be able to arrange special group rates.

Bachelor and Bachelorette Parties WHEN: 2 weeks to a month prior to the wedding day. HOSTED BY: Usually coordinated by the Maid of Honor with the bridesmaids and the Best Man with the groomsmen. WHO TO INVITE: Members of the bridal party and close friends of the couple. PURPOSE: These parties are an opportunity for the members of the bridal party to bond and let loose! These events can be anything from a night out on the town to a full weekend excursion in another city.

Bridal and Couples Showers WHEN: Several months before the wedding. HOSTED BY: Showers may be hosted by any number of people including family, co-workers, friends or the bridal party. WHO TO INVITE: Family, friends of the couple, co-workers and the bridal party. PURPOSE: The whole purpose of these events is to “shower” the couple with gifts for their new home. These parties may have a gift theme (tailored to the couple’s personalities and needs) such as “Stock the Pantry” or “Stock the Bar”. Bridal showers are usually all-female. events and include refreshments and very often games for the guests to participate in. Couples showers are usually have more of a cocktail party vibe and are less likely to have games.

Welcome Party WHEN: One to two days prior to the wedding, typically when all out of town guests have arrived. May follow the rehearsal dinner or be held in lieu of a formal rehearsal dinner. HOSTED BY: Either set of parents or the couple themselves. WHO TO INVITE: The guest list may range from immediate family, bridal party and out of town guests to everyone invited to the wedding! PURPOSE: A welcome party is a great way to spend time with your guests prior to the wedding day and make them feel welcome. These parties are especially nice if you are planning a destination wedding or many of your guests are coming from out of town.

Post Wedding Brunch WHEN: The day after the wedding. HOSTED BY: Either set of parents. WHO TO INVITE: Family, the bridal party and their significant others and out of town guests. PURPOSE: Usually the wrap up for a fantastic wedding weekend, the Post-Wedding Brunch allows one more opportunity for guests to spend time together as a group and for the hosts to thank guests for attending.

When making the guest list for your small parties, be sure that anyone you’re planning to invite is also on the invitation list for the wedding day. It is a major etiquette faux pas to invite someone to one of your smaller parties but exclude them from your big day.

THE REHEARSAL DINNER RULES HAVE CHANGED AND YOU SHOULD TOO!

raditionally the rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents and the only people that were invited were the out of town guests and the bridal party. While there is nothing wrong with holding to this tradition, this sometimes equates to almost as many people as the wedding itself. These days more and more couples don’t live in the cities where they were born and raised and are instead opting for a destination style wedding. When every single guest is from out of town what do you do to essentially not pay for two very large events? First, don’t feel obligated to invite everyone. A small sit down dinner is just as nice and fun as a giant party and you will have more options to chose from if you keep it intimate. Another way is to make your rehearsal dinner a less formal event. Opt for a fun picnic style dinner at a park or a lake and encourage guests to come in casual clothes. They will likely be in suits and dresses for your big day so let them dress down for the night before. A New Orleans style crawfish boil is the perfect setting for this!

You can also have guests meet you at a bar instead and order up some bar food for everyone to enjoy. Guests can buy their own cocktails if they want something other than what you’ve paid for, and if you pick a bar with live music, you have built in entertainment at the cost of a ticket rather than the cost of booking the band. Or, you can do something completely out of the box and hold it somewhere fun like a Go-Kart track or mini golf. Keeping the party kid friendly may be very important to you and it’s great way to make everyone feel welcome. We are recommending more and more that parents and bridal parties make their toasts at the rehearsal dinner instead of at the wedding. Often, taking time out of the reception can slow the party down. Getting the emotional, sometimes funny, but often serious toasts out of the way the night before means less somber moments at the reception. This is also a great time to give each other your gifts and any gifts for parents or bridal party.

No matter what you decide to do with your rehearsal, remember, there are no rules anymore. It can be as formal or as laid back as you want it to be and keep it as unique as your love for each other.

POST-REHEARSAL WELCOMING PARTY

he key to throwing an awesome welcome party is to keep it simple, fun and inclusive for all! A welcome party is the perfect way to help your guests get to know each other and help them feel right at home. Importantly, a welcome party also gives you (the soon-to-be newlyweds) a chance to mingle with your guests so you aren’t seeing them for the first time at your wedding. This makes for a more relaxed and funfocused wedding – major perk!

An opportune occasion is after the Rehearsal Dinner – assuming that by this time the majority of your guests have had an opportunity to check-in and become familiar with their accommodations.

But, before we get into the good stuff, let me first explain the difference between a Welcome Party and a Rehearsal Dinner. A Welcome Party is a nontraditional party that gives the happy couple an opportunity to mingle with their guests before the “official” wedding events commence. One of these events is the Rehearsal Dinner – this event typically takes place immediately following the actual wedding ceremony rehearsal. The guests that are customarily invited to the Rehearsal Dinner include the entire wedding party (and their significant others), immediate family, and all out-of-town guests. On the other hand, the Welcome Party is much more flexible with regard to its guests - you can make the Welcome Party into anything you want it to be and include anyone you wish. You can limit the Welcome Party to just the bridal party and immediate family, you can include all of your out-of-town guests, or you can “go big” and make the Welcome Party open to all guests.

Third, craft your party around your theme for the weekend. No - we’re not talking décor-theme; we are talking activity-themed. For instance, if you’re having a low-key rustic, barn-themed wedding, you’d want your welcome party to reflect that. So, you chould choose a New Orleans venue that offers outdoor games like bocce ball or corn hole. Or, if your wedding is more traditional, then your welcome party could take place in the heart of New Orleans (the French Quarter) and embody a true New Orleans vibe.

Now, on to the good stuff.

ucky for you, you chose to have your wedding in New Orleans! So, why not do as the locals do and take to the streets to enjoy the very many local bars? We think there is no better way to show your guests the city of New Orleans than a good old fashion Bar Crawl – even if your guests are locals themselves.

Some would say this is the most famous bar on Bourbon Street. Most known for their dueling piano bar and their infamous “Hurricane Drink.”

There are three main ways to get around New Orleans for your Post-Reception Bar Crawl: 1) Walking, 2) Street Car, and 3) Party Bus. Here we’re highlighting the type most associated with New Orleans – walking. (But, be sure to follow us on Facebook @NOLAWedding to catch our blog posts on how to plan your Street Car Bar Crawl and Party Bus Bar Crawl.) As you might know, the two most popular New Orleans neighborhoods for a walking bar crawl are the French Quarter (specifically, Bourbon Street) and the Marigny (specifically, Frenchmen Street).

Home of the “Hand Grenade,” promoted as the “world’s most powerful mixed drink.” (Not recommended to have more than one.)

If the majority of your guests have never visited New Orleans, it is clearly a “must” that they experience Bourbon Street.

THESE ARE OUR BOURBON STREET RECOMMENDED BARS: On the other hand, if your guests are seasoned New Orleans visitors and are looking for a more authentic experience, we recommend Frenchmen Street, also known as the “Locals’ Bourbon Street.” As you will see, the bars on Frenchmen Street are less known for their “signature drinks,” and more known for their live music.

FRENCHMEN STREET HOTSPOTS BLUE NILE The Blue Nile is arguably the largest club on Frenchmen and offers two separate music venues, one upstairs and one downstairs. So, if you’re looking for a change of scenery, you can mosey on upstairs for a different vibe.

DBA NEW ORLEANS DBA is the go-to spot for the beer enthusiasts who also wish to hear some outstanding live music. DBA is known for having a fully stocked bar, which includes special imports, micros, chocolate beer and more!

Frenchmen’s newest addition and most known for their modern ambiance, 30-90, which got it’s name from the New Orleans coordinates, is not only a good spot to catch a free, live show, but they also serve food - which comes in handy when you’re in for a late night!

Eiffel Society is a unique special events venue that overlooks Saint Charles Avenue in the Lower Garden District of New Orleans. History reveals the amazing events that led to the birth of this now landmark venue that embodies a 'Piece of Paris' in New Orleans. The iconic steel structure and glass walls that are now the home of Eiffel Society were once a part of a restaurant that was perched atop a tier of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Built in 1939, known as the 'Tour de Eiffel Restaurant', trendsetters such as Hemingway, Coco Chanel, and Picasso once drank, dined, and discussed the arts of their day in this historic building. As time went on, the sheer weight of the restaurant atop the Eiffel Tower in Paris started to cause parts of the famed tower to sink. The restaurant was taken down piece by piece in 1981 and was shipped from Paris to New Orleans as an indirect result of the 1984 New Orleans World's Fair. Construction began in the '80s to reassemble the 11,062 pieces of wrought iron steel to build what was then named 'Restaurant de la Tour Eiffel'. 98 | N.O.W | theNOWBride.com

Unfortunately, the economic boom and architectural renaissance that was expected from the 1984 New Orleans World's Fair never came to fruition. Although the restaurant was critically acclaimed, it was unable to recover and closed only a few years later. Since then, it has been occupied by a number of owners and has been everything from the infamous ‘Red Room,’ the ‘Cricket Club,’ and even a culinary institute. In 2010, following the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, new owners took hold of the building and Eiffel Society was born. As a tribute to the city's recovery from tragedy, Eiffel Society partnered with The Life is Art Foundation, it's goal being to transform something so tragic into something beautiful. A collection of international artists volunteered to build functional art, transforming items out the wreckage of Katrina into masterpieces that function in the venue, bringing new life into its structure. Eiffel Society brings Paris to you as you experience a 'piece of the past' along with the celebration of your future.

When choosing your bridal party, your closest friend will usually be the first one who is asked to be a Maid or Matron of Honor. From here, most brides tend to then extend the bridal party list to those who they are closest to in their lives when they are getting engaged. Before asking, make a really good list that encompasses those who have been around a while as well, and family members who you feel you want to be in your bridal party. For those who may feel an obligation to ask a family member they are not close to, put some thought into it. This could be an opportunity to build lasting memories and create new bonds. Decide if the individuals you have in mind will be able to fulfill the responsibilities which will be requested of them. Not only will the entire bridal party have the individual expense of their attire, shoes, and hair & makeup for the women, but also a commitment to you and your very special day. Ask yourself if the friends you are about to choose have been there for you and if you feel they will be able to handle being tasked with the duties which will allow you to have an easy day. Also, steer clear of anyone who you feel would bring drama into the picture!

Consider the expenses on YOUR end when having a large bridal party. First, the flowers will be more costly the larger the bridal party is. Also, many brides do pay for hair & makeup for their bridal party (though this is not a requirement, but should be discussed with any potential bridesmaids). Other expenses will include things such as transportation for the bridal party - how many limos or buses will you need to rent? Lastly, you will be adding time onto your photos. It does take a while to get everyone into one photo, so a tip would be to make sure everyone knows ahead of time where to be at exactly what time, and request that they hold off from running to the bar or buffet line until after your photos are done. All it takes is ONE to hold up the process, which will ultimately cut into your reception time.

our dog is your first baby. You take them to daycare, to the park, to get their hair cut, and even parade with them like true Mardi Gras pooches! Since pets are part of their fur-ever family, many couples are increasingly choosing to include them in their wedding day. If you’re lucky enough to be able to have your animal as part of your ceremony or reception, there are a few factors to consider before springing for flower pup attire. It’s always best to first think of the comfort of the animal and their level of sociability. Will they be uneasy with a large number of strangers or with loud music? Are they well enough behaved to not lunge at guests or try to steal food?

Next, you should consider having a handler to assist with your pets on the wedding day. Angela Portera, owner of Puppy Love Daycare in Metairie, offers services for just such occasions. She is available to handle your pet prior to the wedding, including making sure they potty, have water, are dressed and there on time. She brings a bag of items including treats, travel water bowls, clean up bags & various other items that may come in useful during the day. She can either assist your pet down the aisle or act as the behind-the-scenes handler before and after they strut their stuff down the aisle. She can also take your pets back home, or to stay at Puppy Love, if you’d like them to participate but not party all night. If your pets are social party animals and stay at the reception, plan to have a quiet space separate from the party for your pet to go to eat, drink or lay down for small breaks during the night. Having a crate, their bed or favorite toy can help ease their nerves if they are feeling a bit overwhelmed. When excited, many pets will get thirsty so make sure to let them drink plenty of water so they don’t get dehydrated. And lots of water means lots of potty breaks! If you don’t have a professional handler for the reception, plan to have a family member or friend who the pet is familiar with who can help take them outside and also get them home at the end of the night. Finally, if you really want to go “doggone” wild, you may also consider incorporating your pet into your reception in other ways. Some couples forego a gift registry or favors and instead contribute to a local animal rescue group. Pet treats for guests to take home to their own pets get a cute New Orleans twist from Amis des Paux bakery, who offers themed treats like snowballs, red beans and Ponchatoula strawberries. ena and Anthony hit it off immediately when they met via a dating app. Seeing potential for a relationship that couldn’t be ignored, Rena and Anthony dated, rescued a few pets and fell completely in love. Anthony knew that when he proposed to Rena the moment wouldn’t be right without the perfect ring. Luckily, he knew that she wanted an oval cut champagne diamond with halo set in rose gold and was able to find just what she wanted. With the ring in hand while they were getting ready to go out for their first anniversary dinner, Anthony got down on one knee in the doorway of their bedroom with their dachshund jumping in excitement, and asked Rena to be his forever. “Obviously, I said yes,” Rena says. After organizing other brides special days for the past 20 years, Rena was more than ready to take on the challenge of planning her own wedding and she knew exactly what she wanted! “We wanted it to be low key and fun with a small group of people closest to us,” Rena says. “Being a coordinator myself, I wanted to keep it simple and fun.”

Both being Tibetan Buddhist, the couple had a traditional ceremony filled with symbolism, including lanterns lighting the way down the aisle and the lotus flower which made numerous appearances. It was especially meaningful for Rena because she was able to write the ceremony and it was the first time Anthony was able to take refuge – which is like dedicating yourselfself to Buddhism - even though he has been studying it for years. “As many of our guests are not Buddhist, our programs helped explain some of the word meanings, helped walk our guests through the meaning of the ceremony and included a closing prayer for everyone to recite together,” Rena says. “There are many misconceptions about Buddhism, as there are with many other religions, so it was nice for those close to us to really see what it's all about.”

Rena incorporated the Buddhist wheel into her Henna as well as the gobo that adorned the wall during the reception.

With the love in the air feeling tangible, Rena created a day that she, Anthony and their guests would never forget. “We still get compliments on how beautiful and touching our ceremony was.” Rena says.

HOW TO PLAN YOUR WALKING PARADE

eeply rooted in the history of New Orleans, Second Lines have been a part of celebrating life’s most precious moments since the 1800s. Second Lines stem from the AfricanAmerican tradition of parades for funerals, which feature brass bands leading a procession honoring the departed. They first play hymns and then change to upbeat music to celebrate the departed's life. Eventually the tradition crossed over to other events, including weddings, and today, a New Orleans wedding can’t be a New Orleans wedding without a Second Line. Oftentimes, brides can be seen with their intricately designed parasols and grooms with black umbrellas strutting down the city streets with a brass band playing and wedding guests following behind with their handkerchiefs waving in the air. Whether you are having your Second Line inside of your venue or parading down the crowded streets of the French Quarter, it’s nearly impossible to not have a good time as you share your love with a jazzy beat. While a Second Line can be a joy to be a part of, planning one involves a lot more than many imagine. To make sure you have a perfect Second Line for your wedding, here’s a quick guide to make sure you parade in style.

LEGALIZE YOUR SECOND LINE

While Second Lines often look like impromptu celebrations, a lot of planning and paper work goes into making sure that a Second Line can legally and logistically happen. Permits are required if you will be parading in the streets or in public areas. The amount of the permit fee will depend on what route you take and how many people will be participating. The fee also includes a police escort, a one-time fee to the Police and Justice Foundation, and if your party throws anything during the Second Line (like beads!), then there will also be an additional fee to City Sanitation for clean up.

MAP OUT YOUR ROUTE

There is a lot to keep in mind as you plan your route. Traditionally, Second Lines occur right after the ceremony, so you can use the Second Line as fun way to get your guests to the reception. If your ceremony and reception are in the same place, the Second Line is the perfect opportunity to allow the venue staff to “flip” the space from ceremony setup to reception style. However, you can also plan the Second Line for after the rehearsal dinner or at the end of your reception. Make sure to walk your route with a few people before settling on an “official” route to gauge if the distance is too far or uncomfortable. This will also help you avoid construction and other potential problems. You’ll also want to keep timing in mind – communicate with your wedding professionals to determine how much time you can or need to devote to this parade to make your wedding day run smoothly. Planning your route to travel by sentimental spots that are special to the couple is great idea as well. Be sure to tell your photographer and videographer about these in advance so you can get some great photos and videos in these spots!

Be sure to take your guests’ comfort into consideration when planning your Second Line. Be aware of extreme weather conditions (like summer heat!) and plan accordingly to provide fans or bottled water to guests before you head out. Providing flip flops for guests who are wearing heels is also a thoughtful gesture. Also consider guests who might have mobility issues and plan a carriage or pedi-cab to provide accommodations while allowing these guests to still participate in the parade!

Specifically a brass band. The brass band is the heart and soul of the Second Line. A combination of trumpet, trombone, saxophone, tuba, bass drum and snare drum players, the brass band and Grand Marshal keep the crowd enthused and entertained. Typically, brass bands can be found online or through word of mouth. New Orleans has many brass bands to choose from but make sure to do your research to find the best fit for you. It’s a good idea to ask how the band will be dressed while performing. Some bands dress up in formal uniforms and others are very casual, so it’s important to find the band that works best for the level of formality for your event.

Whether you keep inside your wedding theme or go all out, accessorizing a Second Line is one the best parts of planning one. The newlyweds usually lead the parade with decorated umbrellas or parasols while the rest of the wedding party waves hankies in the air. These can be simple or can be personalized just for the wedding! You can’t really go wrong when it comes to these “extras”.

You have walked into a bridal boutique for the first time and see an overwhelming number of dresses. Where do you start?

never trust the hanger

What your perfect dress looks like on you and what it looks like on the hanger are two entirely different things. You can't judge a dress without giving it a try. Keep in mind that the store sample may be entirely too big or too small for you. You may have to use a bit of imagination in these first stages, but you should be able to tell if the dress is worth further consideration. While it may be the clothes that make a man, it is the bride that makes a dress.

Silhouette It's such a beautiful word, but what does it mean? The silhouette of a dress is the overall shape it creates. Your own shape will often help you choose the best silhouette for your dress.

ballgown This silhouette inspires visions of elegant parties of old with sparkling crystal chandeliers and elegant couples dancing across brilliantly polished marble floors. Often paired with a corset-style bodice, the full skirt of a ball gown will flatter a pear shaped figure. This silhouette may not be the best choice, though, for full figured women or women who are very petite.

The most flattering of silhouettes is the A-line. True to its name, the A-line silhouette is shaped like an “A”. A-line dresses generally have only vertical seams that often run from neckline to hemline and the skirt flares from a natural or drop waist. This silhouette will cover a multitude of chocolate sundae sins.

empire An Empire silhouette creates a much straighter line and doesn't hug the body as much as an A-line silhouette does. Instead of emphasizing the waistline, an empire silhouette creates a lessdefined body shape. You will know an Empire silhouette by a seam that falls just below the bust line. This silhouette looks great on most brides, but those with a large bust may want to avoid this style.

This silhouette is, quite simply, loosely form-fitting gowns that tend to drape softly instead of hugging the body. Sheath silhouettes are often made of very light fabrics like chiffon, and can tend to emphasize imperfections. This silhouette will look best on tall, slim brides.

If you have knockout curves and want to show them off, this is the silhouette for you. A mermaid dress silhouette tightly hugs the body from the neckline to the knees and then flares out to create a "mermaid tail."

neckline The neckline of your dress is an important decision to make, but with numerous styles, how do you choose? The most important thing to remember is never to choose a particular style just because it is popular. You want to choose the neckline that is most flattering on you.

Be sure to allow enough time for several fittings and always wear the shoes and undergarments you'll be wearing on your wedding day for those fittings. You don't want to discover on your wedding day that your hem is too short or that your bustier shows through your gown. A great way to make sure your dress has been altered perfectly is to have your formal photographs done several weeks before your wedding. You will have the opportunity to wear your dress for several hours and you have the added bonus of seeing how your dress looks in the "real world." If there are any further alterations that need to be made, they can be done before your wedding. You will know when you've found the perfect dress because it is the one that makes you feel beautiful when you're wearing it. This confidence will add a sparkle to your eyes and make your smile brighter as you walk down the aisle. Now go get that "wow"!

Something to think about when choosing your neckline is the type of top you wear most often to go out in. This answer will give you a good starting point to work from. As a general rule, a scooped neckline looks good on everyone because it doesn't over-emphasize any one area. Variations of a scooped neckline are the Jewel neckline which is a high, rounded neckline that generally starts at the base of the neck, the Bateau neckline that starts about an inch below the shoulder (creating an off-the-shoulder look), and the Portrait neckline that is similar to the Bateau neckline, except that the neckline stands away from the body creating a collar-like effect. Another neckline that looks great on most brides is a square neckline. This neckline is a simple, straight line. You find this neckline most often on strapless dresses and dresses with spaghetti straps. A Sweetheart neckline creates a heart shape at the bust and shows a small amount of cleavage. This style also looks flattering on most brides. Halter necklines are wonderful for women with great shoulders and backs. It is important to note that women with a large bust may look top-heavy in a halter.

SWEET SIMPLICITY Love is Honey To The Soul

ne by one, Alexa followed the trail of envelopes with riddles written by Trey as he took her around the city for her birthday. From brunch, to shopping for a new outfit, to a relaxing massage, Alexa assumed it was all just for her birthday. Little did she know that Trey was planning on celebrating something even more special until he ended the scavenger hunt with a final envelope and a ring in hand as he got down on one knee to propose. Alexa couldn’t have asked for a better birthday gift as he slid the ring on her finger and she said yes. Alexa envisioned a simple but elegant wedding, bringing in an “old Hollywood” glamour vibe. “I wanted it to look elegant, but not over the top,” Alexa says. “I also wanted my wedding to remain extremely intimate throughout the entire process.” With this in mind, it only made sense to have their reception in the iconic Blue Room of The Roosevelt

Hotel and the ceremony at Immaculate Conception Jesuit Church, Alexa’s favorite church in the whole city. “I did not want to overpower the church with a lot of flowers, so I decided to keep the flowers simple and small. We decided to add lanterns on the floor by each pew, to add to that ‘intimate’ feeling,” Alexa says.

"I wanted certain aspects, for example my wedding dress, to stand out on its own. The reason I chose the Amsale “Demi” gown was for its simplicity, yet dramatic/elegant back detailing of the gown." - Alexa

By keeping things simple, Alexa was able to have certain elements of her wedding stand out such as the cake and her dress. Alexa chose a simple wedding gown with dramatic detailing on the back. “I knew the back of the gown would be what everyone would see during the ceremony, and I had hoped that everyone could admire its beautiful detail.” Alexa says. “The gown truly was the center of my theme.” To end the perfect night with the last touch of sweet simplicity, the couple sent their guests home with jars of honey that Trey’s father collects with a simple finishing touch - tags reading “Love is Sweet.”

Start a morning and evening skin routine. Use face wash and moisturizer designed for your skin type. Using a Clarisonic skin cleansing brush once a day with your face wash will create a wonderfully smooth skin surface that's perfect for makeup application. Get regular hair cuts from a professional stylist. Doing this will ensure that you will have an ideal shape to your style and your ends will stay beautifully curled. Eyebrows are the picture frames of the face. See a professional brow artist for regular eyebrow shaping. If you prefer waxing, have your brows waxed two days prior to the wedding. Schedule a trial run with your stylist and makeup artist. This will set your mind at ease, save time on your wedding day, and allow your look to be fully perfected. Ask your makeup artist for the name of your lip color so that you can purchase your own to have at the wedding for touch ups. Ask your stylist if clip in extensions are a good option for you. Having these added to your style will add thickness and/or length if you are wearing your hair down. Extensions will also add fullness to an up-do. The night before your wedding, shampoo and blow-dry your hair. Do not flat iron or use any other heat tools besides the blow dryer. Doing so can cause your curls not to hold. Wash your face right before you sit down to have your makeup done on the day of your wedding. Remember to wear a robe or shirt that buttons so you won't bump into your hair and makeup while changing into your dress. (Avoid shirts with stiff collars as these tend to rub against up-dos causing pieces of hair to come loose.)

Legal Details Every wedding needs a license. The requirements are different in every state and parish and are subject to change. Contact officials before your big day to make sure your wedding goes off without any hitches!
