LETTER FROM THE CEO NPower is at a crucial moment in time. The need for skilled and diverse IT talent in this country is only projected to climb over the next three years. Our program model has never been more relevant. With every class we graduate and place into full time jobs, we improve the shared economic prosperity of individuals, families and communities. By the close of this year, NPower will have served 3,000 students cumulatively. With over 80% graduating and 80% placed in jobs or returning to school, we have set our sights on magnifying our impact. Our new five-year strategic plan sets a course for us to place a minimum of 15,000 individuals in career-track jobs (and to be on a path to 50,000) and improve the 3-year wage-growth for alumni. We need your support to stay the course. From the corporations that hire our students and inform our curriculum; the foundations that fund our growth and the passionate volunteers who mentor our students, thank you for commitment. Tonight, we celebrate the tech industry’s commitment to solving this pressing issue and we recognize two technology change agents— Chuck Robbins, CEO of Cisco and Robert F. Smith, President of Fund II Foundation—who have aligned with us on this mission. Thank you for hosting our interns, hiring our graduates, volunteering, and supporting us financially. Thank you for standing with NPower.
Sincerely, Bertina Ceccarelli

JORDAN FREEMAN Prior to joining Class 32 of NPower New York Harlem — Jordan Freeman was a young adult from the Soundview section of the Bronx who was uncertain about his career and his future. He was keenly aware of his environment and watched many in his neighborhood choose the wrong path in life. Jordan wanted more for himself and his family. He started but didn’t finish college, and ultimately ended up working in childcare. As a child mentor in an after-school program with the Mosholu Montefiore Community Center, Jordan enjoyed working with children, but he found the industry difficult to make a living. With limited options for career growth, he decided he needed to explore other options. When he found the NPower program, Jordan had never considered a career in technology, despite being somewhat savvy with computers. As a former mentor, Jordan embraced the non-IT training components of the program and learned a great deal from his instructors and volunteer industry mentors. He quickly honed his networking skills and embraced every opportunity to attend site visits, additional training and other learning opportunities. Five months after starting Tech Fundamentals, he acquired his Comp TIA A+ certification and was one of the top students in his class. Jordan interned at TD Ameritrade as a Voice Network Production Support Analyst. Putting his networking skills to work, he excelled at building strong working relationships with his colleagues, who often imparted their knowledge.
#NPOWERGALA
STUDENT SPEAKER
As a result of his success in the program and the positive example he set for other students, Jordan was selected to be his class speaker for graduation. He embraced the opportunity and also won the Bank of America Trust the Team Award that was presented at graduation. Shortly after, Jordan was hired by Bank of America permanently, and remains there today, as an Enterprise Technology Architect Analyst. Jordan continues to grow and learn in his role. He has completed the ITIL foundation certification, assumed the role of Scrum Master facilitating scrum meetings in two Lean-Agile teams within the organization, and launched and maintained an onboarding process for new resources and contractors. He became a highly valued and trusted member of his team and later took on a supplemental role within the team as a Business Operations manager, responsible for defining and improving existing routines, resources and employee engagement. For the staff at NPower, with whom Jordan still keeps in touch, he is a model student who has a voracious appetite for learning and expanding his professional network. He also loves to give back to those who follow and has never missed volunteering as a panelist at every site visit NPower students have had at Bank of America. It has been a joy for us at NPower to watch Jordan succeed in his technology career. 21

Securing the Cloud Generation We Are The Cloud Generation. The Cloud Generation is everyone who lives and works in this unique era— as computing breaks the boundaries of desktops and data centers to embrace the mobile, social, global, crowd-sourced, always-on realities
of modern life. It’s a time when critical data, applications and infrastructure are shifting from “behind the firewall” to “running on the cloud.” Some of us are “all in.” Some are only 20% there. Yes, it’s liberating. And yes, it’s chaotic. Symantec is here to help.
