Denyse Chiles I moved from Washington, D.C. to New York City as a single mother to two small but bright children. As you could imagine, it was a big step for me since I had almost nothing with me, and I was living hundreds of miles from everything and everyone I knew. When I arrived, I was just about homeless. Thankfully I joined NPower, and this opportunity has truly turned what could have been the worst time of my life into my best. I arrived at NPower with an ambitious attitude to improve myself with a lifetime career in technology. With some of the obstacles that I have faced, conquering them after joining NPower has been very rewarding. I will continue to be humble, serve as an example, and hope to inspire others to stay hungry for success. I am very appreciative of the experiences and knowledge that I have gained to utilize in my future career. Prospectively, I can confidently look forward to a productive career in the cybersecurity field. I am also ecstatic to see where NPower will take my colleagues in the future.

Martina Vargas When I first joined NPower I was shy. I didn’t think my thoughts mattered. I didn’t feel I had the necessary potential. I had no confidence and honestly, I felt that after starting a family, I could no longer do anything for myself. During my time at NPower, I had a lot on my plate. My mother, a dialysis patient, was constantly in and out of the emergency room. It was my duty to care for her while simultaneously being a mother to a one year old and a wife to my husband. I could not let my responsibilities at home get in the way of my success as an NPower student. I still managed to complete my homework assignments even if it meant I would have sleepless nights. My motivation every day was for my future. I see myself as a new woman with a vision. I look forward to every day and know that I will reach my goals. I know that I am one step closer to my dreams because I am moving forward and never stopping. In the past, I almost backed out of everything. I was skittish and worried about what I looked like to others. Today, I am no longer that person. I am ready for the next challenge.

Kevin Abreu, 22, Brooklyn Internship Site: St. John’s Bread and Life
Before I joined NPower, I was at a point in my life where I was very confused on what to do next. I had no prior knowledge of technology, but I was very curious about the field and what it had to offer. When I joined NPower, the teaching process was fast paced, and I thought I could not keep up, but the staff was very accommodating and patient, helping me through the 22 weeks. In the future, I want to keep exploring different branches of IT and continue learning as a professional in the field. NPower felt like a second family, and I guarantee that anybody that joins NPower will feel right at home.
Nzinga Bascombe, 25, Brooklyn Internship Site: Bridge Street AME Church
Before my time in NPower, I was studying to become a medical assistant but still did not know where I wanted my career to go. I felt discouraged after listening to stories of others in the same field. When I found out about NPower, it resonated with the love I had for technology. I had excelled in a Microsoft Office class and wanted to pursue the subject more. NPower gave me the encouragement I always needed, and I now feel I am on the correct path now that I am A+ Certified. In the future, I hope to grow by combining my Microsoft Office knowledge of Power Point, Microsoft, and Excel with even more technology skills in a small office setting.
Anthony Bryant, 19, Brooklyn Internship Site: United Way
Before NPower, I was a recent graduate from the Marine Corps Communications School based in California and did not know how to kickstart my IT career. The opportunity to attend NPower became one of the best decisions I ever made. The training prepared me with tech and business skills. Now I plan to take my career journey into the field of network administration.

Darnley Charles, 25, Brooklyn Internship Site: Accenture
The door to NPower opened after a conversation about my worries over the computerization of the locksmith industry. It was at this time I was encouraged to enroll in the Tech Fundamentals program to become equipped with the skills needed to pursue a career in cybersecurity. Joining NPower was one of the smarter decisions I made in life. From sending thank-you emails to guest speakers, soaking up corporate culture from site visits to meetings, and learning with a group of colleagues—these are the experiences I will always treasure. I am excited to graduate from my first NPower course and hope to attend NPower’s Cybersecurity program.
Niyanta Chhetri, 21, Queens Internship Site: ASPCA
Before joining NPower, I was struggling to find my career path. However, my instincts told me that IT might be the place for me. I learned about NPower and was very excited when I was called for the interview because it sounded like the perfect next venture. NPower has given me so much more than just opening my eyes to career paths in IT. My time here has allowed me to gain the self confidence I lacked, a sense of purpose, and have classmates that inspire me everyday. NPower is more than a training program, we are a family that supports one another, and I am very thankful to be part of it. I am looking forward to studying cybersecurity next with NPower.
Denyse Chiles, 25, Brooklyn Internship Site: NY Hall of Science
For as long as I can remember, I have had an interest in technology, enjoying the challenge of learning all it has to offer, including taking a computer apart to dallying with a software program’s command line. Before my time at NPower, I worked as a data entry specialist. Now I have enhanced technological skills and have been exposed to different professional opportunities. The guest lecturer with a risk management role from Bank of America made the biggest impression and has inspired me to pursue a career in cybersecurity.

Before enrolling in NPower’s Tech Fundamentals program, I was curious about a potential IT career. I have always liked to tinker, and joining NPower opened my eyes to the real possibility in making a career out of it! I genuinely enjoy learning about technology and NPower gave me a newfound technololgy passion. In the future, I hope to start my own IT consulting business where I can enjoy what I do in a great environment.
Victor Crispin, 25, Queens Internship Site: Citi
I am grateful to NPower for the opportunity to build a better future for myself. After I stopped attending school, I thought I was going to become another statistic, and started working in a traditional 9 to 5 job setting to earn a living. I decided to apply to NPower after a friend recommended the program to me, and although enrollment meant becoming a part-time employee—it was the best decision I made. Thanks to NPower, I obtained my A+ Certification, improved my IT skills, and acquired new programming skills as well. The course has made me feel so well prepared for an internship at Citi and my career ahead. The journey has just begun for me and I now have the motivation to reach my ultimate goal, which is to become a cybersecurity analyst. Thank you, NPower for everything!
Christopher Desir, 23, Brooklyn Internship Site: The Synergos Institute
Before NPower, I worked in retail, which wasn’t my dream career. After I heard about a friend’s great experience with NPower, I decided to apply. During my training, the instructors taught me soft skills including communication, how to work in a professional environment, and how to better organize large workloads. The staff also gave me valuable insights into the IT field. The onsite visits were amazing because we got to see the work environment within the tech industry and talk to people in the company. I was especially proud when I earned my A+ Certification and appreciate all the help I received from my instructors. I hope to expand my professional network, continue gaining certifications, and pursue a career in cybersecurity.

Michael Dong, 23, Manhattan Internship Site: CWB Architects
I formed an interest in technology when I started tinkering with computers and considering the potential of technology in the modern world. It is evolving at such a fast rate, and I wanted to be a part of it, but I did not know where to start. I found NPower and saw this as an opportunity to get my foot into the door and begin my journey in technology. NPower soon helped me realize that it is not just the technical knowledge that is important; it is also about passion and the people you meet along the way. Thank you, NPower, for giving me the opportunity to meet so many great people and opening the doors to all the different paths I can take. With the experience I gained, I will be starting a career in the IT industry as a system administrator.
Kamol Edwards, 21, Brooklyn Internship Site: TBD
From a young age, I have always had a passion for technology. Before NPower, I thought college was the only option for getting into the field, and I was pleased to find that NPower offered an alternative. I learned the basics that I needed to get my foot in the door, as well as developing soft skills required for making it in any professional environment. Shortly I see myself pursuing cloud computing, maybe as a data analyst. I know that this career path can be difficult, but I am well prepared for the challenges ahead thanks to my time at NPower.
Steven Elias, 25, Brooklyn
Internship Site: The New York City Campaign Finance Board
Choosing to work with NPower was one of the smartest decisions I made. The reason I chose to apply to NPower was because of what they had to offer to its students and the success of my older brother who graduated from the program years ago. I saw how much my brother enjoyed it and before I knew it, I found myself asking questions about the same program and eventually applied. After NPower, I would like to develop the range and specialization of my skills to work for a corporation that realizes my value and hunger to learn. Eventually, I want to run my own consulting firm. Without the guidance of NPower, my dreams and aspirations could have been different but I know now, everything I have done has led me to this point. Something I like to say: “It is not how you start but how you finish.

Yvans Francois, 23, Brooklyn Internship Site: Eze Castle
Before enrolling into NPower, I installed TVs and speakers and set up wiring infrastructure within the tri-state for residential and commercial buildings. I did not see myself making a career in installation so I came to NPower, where I would learn the fundamentals of IT and start a paid internship. I had previously struggled with finding a job because I had no experience. My time at NPower was an intense 15-weeks, but the new friends I gained who shared my passion for technology and the supportive staff made sure I succeeded. After graduation, I want to be part of NPower’s cybersecurity program and continue my dream of becoming a penetration tester of computer systems or a risk management specialist.
O’Marley George, 23, Brooklyn Internship Site: United Way of NYC
Before NPower, I had goals and dreams, but I did not yet know how to achieve them. I was in school and working a full-time job when a friend told me about NPower, and it was not until years later that I finally felt ready to enroll. It was one of the best decisions I ever made. On the first day of class, I could tell it was the first day of a better tomorrow. I was able to build my technical skills, professional development, and I had amazing classmates and instructors. I am honored to have attended NPower. In the future, I plan to complete my degree and work in place where I am challenged and self-sufficient.
Robert Griffin, 25, Brooklyn Internship Site: NY Charities
Before NPower, I was working in a mailroom. My NPower training was challenging and rewarding. Being part of a program gave me a new aspect of what I wanted to do. My instructors gave me the tools to learn everything about coding that I would need to pursue a career as an IT technician. When I make a mistake assembling a computer or coding, my instructors helped me find solutions. Upon leaving NPower, I plan to seek a career in graphic design or as a technician.

Rudolfo “Rudy” Hernandez, 22, Brooklyn Internship Site: Citi
Prior to NPower, I tried to pursue a degree in computer science. I was disappointed in the lack of application, so I sought to get a more hands on experience working with technology. NPower has provided that exact experience and more. In addition to receiving my CompTIA A+ Certification, which confirms my foundational knowledge of technology, I have also developed the communication skills needed to work as part of a corporate team. After NPower, I will continue to use the skills and knowledge I have gained, further developing my professional skills while working in the tech field. I am especially motivated to pursue career opportunities in cybersecurity.
Titeanna Jeter, 22, Queens Internship Site: Public School 282
Before NPower’s Tech Fundamentals program, I drifted between retail and food service jobs, confused about where I wanted to go in life. My sister attended NPower Tech Fundamentals and the cybersecurity program and watching her thrive inspired me to give NPower a chance. My time spent in NPower was often difficult for me; there were challenges and obstacles I did not expect to face, but I never wanted to I give up. Since I have pursued my goals, I am a certified IT technician, planning to continue this journey and get as many certifications as I can, while I work somewhere happy with lots of laughs. JUST CALL ME SUPER TECH GIRL!
Dwayne Joseph, 25, Brooklyn Internship Site: Citi
Before joining NPower’s Tech Fundamental program, I was a security officer working 60+ hours a week. After my son was born, I realized I was not spending enough time with my family and felt I had little career opportunity. At NPower, I visited some of the industry’s top employers, attend professional development workshops, and undertook an internship at Citi. My A+ Certification will allow me to obtain the cybersecurity Analyst and Linux+ Certifications. After NPower, I will continue to pursue my degree in Computer Science and Information Security while working in the cybersecurity field.

I have always aspired to work in the IT industry. However, I did not know much about the different sectors and where I best fit. I came to NPower to explore different roles and develop my professional skills. At NPower, I learned so much about the function of many roles and got the chance to talk with different professionals. NPower provided me the platform to broaden my horizon in computer hardware, networks, and security as well as the opportunity to apply such knowledge to the work environment. After graduation, I hope to pursue a career in cybersecurity and continue to improve my technical skills by developing my Linux, computer network, and programming skills.
Kenneth Liu, 24, Brooklyn Internship Site: Bank of America
Before joining NPower, I felt aimless when it came to career goals; I knew I wanted to work with technology, but I did not know where to focus my efforts. I had even tried to teach myself graphic design, but nothing seemed to suit me. I found out about NPower’s Tech Fundamental course and felt like it was the right direction. Through the program, I obtained a variety of technical and professional skills, as well as having the opportunity to attend events and lectures. Along the way, I have met like-minded individuals with a passion for technology. More importantly, NPower has helped me decide on a career. After the program concludes I will continue my studies while pursuing a career in cybersecurity.
Tajuani McCubbin, 21, Brooklyn Internship Site: TBD
Before enrolling in NPower, I had an ordinary job, and my future seemed limited. Using my tech skills was just a hobby. Since starting the program, I have learned about professionalism, networking, and a plethora of other knowledge that has changed my life. With the skills and knowledge I have obtained, the path of becoming a cybersecurity analyst seems clear. God first, dedication second, focus third, and then success becomes inevitable.

Joshua Moore, 25, Brooklyn Internship Site: Citi
My passion for technology and desire to make a change in my life led me to NPower. Before being accepted, I worked at the United States Postal Service for four years and felt unfulfilled, knowing I could accomplish so much more; especially in a field that I loved. With NPower’s help, I was able to learn the fundamentals to become A+ Certified. I also gained additional technical skills within Linux and some Windows scripting. Additionally, the soft skills that NPower taught increased my professionalism and created the opportunity for me to be successful long term. Through my studies, my interest in cybersecurity has grown, and I plan to expand my knowledge and skills. My next goal is to be accepted into NPower’s Cyber program so that I can take the steps towards earning my Linux+ and CSA+ Certifications.
Jonathan Panzardi, 25, Staten Island Internship Site: ASI
NPower was a turning point in my life and helped me to be aware of everybody’s potential. NPower taught me that with a little bit of discipline and motivation, you can learn anything. I have learned many things about myself along the way. My learning styles, my strengths, weaknesses, and how to expand my comfort zone, along with learning to act professionally. NPower gave me more life options and the ambition to achieve my dreams. Completing NPower’s Tech Fundamentals is the stepping-stone to starting my business and investing in my future financial freedom. I am thankful for NPower’s guest lectures and site visits that played a huge role in my development. I am most grateful to NPower employees who took a chance on me to give me this amazing opportunity, while still being able to support my home and myself.
Chris Reid, 24, Brooklyn Internship Site: Center for Family Life

Imani Robinson, 23, Brooklyn Internship Site: Citi
Before NPower, I was extremely indecisive about what life path I wanted to follow. I was working at CVS pharmacy thinking that there was so much more in life to explore. While researching careers in technology, NPower caught my eye, and three months later I became CompTIA A+ certified. I had no hands-on experience before NPower, and now I am more proficient in troubleshooting hardware and software problems as well as identifying the various types of malware. NPower has helped me become more humble as well as outgoing. I made a few life-long connections, and I am hoping to pursue a future career in cybersecurity.
Jefryn Rosario, 22, Manhattan Internship Site: CWB Architects
Before NPower, I wanted to begin a technology career and learn some programming languages in my spare time but had no idea where to acquire those skills. NPower taught me about the various fields of technology and the professional skills needed to succeed in cybersecurity. It was a difficult but rewarding road to my new skills and I even adapted to wearing a suit and tie.
Wison Ruan, 23, Brooklyn Internship Site: Eze Castle
Before NPower, I had very little direction in my life. I had a love for technology, and I wanted to develop my career around it, but I did not know where to begin, and I was doubtful of myself. For a long time, I felt stagnant, but I knew I wanted to be better. In these past 15 weeks, I have met amazing people, and feel as though I made more progress in my life. Thanks to NPower, I have built the confidence I needed to know where I am going. I look forward to developing my expertise in networking and beginning my career with the support of a knowledgeable team in New York City.

Before the NPower program, I was at a loss because I had no idea what should do to start my career. I did not know how to find my spark. I found it difficult to enter the workforce without experience. Once I joined the Tech Fundamentals program, I had an opportunity to test myself start a new path. I have learned about troubleshooting computers, maintaining professional behavior, moving past my fear of public speaking, and got to know different people coming from a variety of backgrounds. I especially enjoyed gaining exposure to the many career choices within the technology field. The most interesting thing about NPower was the exposure to other fields within technology. After graduating, I will pursue a cybersecurity certificate and want to see myself in a good career.
Jasleen Samra, 20, Queens Internship Site: Deloitte
I realized that experience and practical knowledge are more valuable than an IT degree and joined NPower to develop my skills. As a student, I looked forward to starting my internship and applying my newly acquired technical skills and knowledge learned after 15 weeks of instruction. After NPower, I hope to enter a dynamic workforce where I can expand my technology career prospects.

I was always fascinated with the idea of integrating business and technology, knowing I wanted a career that focuses on both. Unfortunately, I had no idea where to start. NPower provided me the platform to have exposure in different directions of IT, I particularly found project management very interesting and hope to take this knowledge into my career. Before NPower, I was unable to utilize my skills and expertise professionally. Now that I am graduating from the program, I have much more confidence in my soft and technical skills. The business communication workshops, site visits to some of the largest corporations in the world, and bringing in industry experts to share their experiences were particularly helpful. In conclusion, NPower built my confidence, helped me to obtain my A+ Certification, preparing me to step into the corporate world.
Daniel Thomas, 25, Brooklyn Internship Site: NY Foundling
Before NPower I was unemployed and trying to find a purpose in life. School was becoming stressful and even more confusing, so instead of continuing down that path, I chose to take a break and learn a trade in the tech field. Setting goals is something that I consider to be very important. I believe in always pushing myself further in life, both physically and mentally. I chose NPower to widen my horizons and shape my future. Now I hope to find a full-time job in a start-up while pursuing my degree in computer information systems. I also plan to return to NPower as a student in the cybersecurity course.
Lino Vargas, 23, Staten Island
Internship Site: Council of Peoples Organization
Before I enrolled in the Tech Fundamentals program offered at NPower, I was not sure which career path was right for me. Once I started class, I knew the opportunity provided was second to none. NPower helped me get a good start on learning the essentials of technology but more importantly, they taught me various skills to further educate myself. With all this, I am confident I will excel at a professional workplace. Once I graduate, I look forward to staying in touch with the staff, hopefully attending the Cybersecurity course, and (with a bit of luck) landing a good job combining my interest in technology and engineering.

Before NPower, I worked unsatisfying, dead-end jobs and started college but was not able to finish my degree. Feeling unsure about my future and having an interest in technology, I began researching NYC coding classes and felt NPower could help me reach my goals. Thanks to NPower I am now A+ Certified and looking to start a career in quality assurance. I have truly enjoyed my experience.
James Vasquez, 21, Brooklyn Internship Site: TBD
Before NPower, I was a self-taught technician searching for professional improvement and a new learning environment. Through training, I became equipped with my A+ Certification and the hope to grow, take on new challenges, and continue to develop my skills. I do not know where my career will lead, but I have begun and will continue to seek CAPM, PMP, and CSP certifications. NPower gave me the resolve to become a IT professional who strives to achieve their best.
Kevin Williams, 20, Queens Internship Site: Accenture
Before my enrollment at NPower, I was making slow progress towards the career I knew I could have and the person I could become. I began to give up until I found NPower. The staff was very helpful in teaching me the technical, professional, and even life skills to help me in my future career. I am still unsure on what career in tech I would like to pursue but, thanks to NPower, my choice has been narrowed down to networking or security. I believe that in the future I will be able to accomplish my goals thanks to the help and support NPower has given me.

Before coming to NPower, I participated in an intensive career training program, the Young Adult Internship Program. What led me to that program was a desire to find my passion: technology. I learned many things, from resume building, workplace ethics, interviewing skills to teamwork collaboration. After completing my internship, I took the opportunity to gain further exposure to the technology industry by participating in the Tech Fundamentals program. Every week, we visited companies to learn about the different types of cultures. Although the program was rigorous, I pulled through with the collaboration of my classmates and support from staff members. After NPower, I will continue my education and career in the technology industry where I hope to utilize my skills and knowledge in the field to reach my full potential.
Michael Zhen, 25, Brooklyn Internship Site: TBD

Shadman Alam, 25, New York
Internship Site: Heketi Community Charter School
Before entering the Tech Fundamentals course at NPower, I worked as a Macy’s Sales Associate. My dad introduced me to NPower which he found out about through his workplace. I was interested in learning about the tech field, so I applied and was accepted into the program. My experience at NPower was great, and I was able to drastically progress my acquisition of technological knowledge needed to fix broken computers in my household, which would not have been possible before the program. After graduation, I am looking forward to increasing my knowledge and eventually getting a career in cybersecurity.
Kimberly Almonte, 23, Bronx Internship Site: United Way of NYC
Before entering NPower’s Tech Fundamentals program, I was studying history and working a part-time desk job at a library. In this position, I found myself often helping patrons and coworkers resolve tech problems they would encounter, which brought me to the realization that I enjoyed working with technology. Online research brought me to the Tech Fundamentals program and I thought that it would be a great way to enter the tech field. During my time at NPower, my fascination with technology grew thanks to the curriculum and teaching methods. After graduation, I hope to combine my previous studies of history with my current knowledge of technology to delve into digital storage technology and its growing role in historical archiving.
Alexandra Avelino, 24, New York Internship Site: Citi
Before NPower, I was managing work as a banquet server and two kids. I always had a passion for technology, so when I came across an email about NPower, it grabbed my interest. I decided to join so I could explore more of the technology field. Being a part of NPower has been a great experience, providing me with the technical and professional skills I will use in a new career. After graduating, I look forward to joining the cybersecurity program and jump starting a career I know I will enjoy for years to come.

Theodore Beasley, 25, New York
Internship Site: Mayor’s Office of Contract Services
Before the Tech Fundamentals program, I worked two jobs to support myself, but I was searching for a better opportunity. Making ends meet was possible, but there was no real career as a delivery biker. I was fortunate enough to be referred to NPower by an alumnus. Technology has always been a passion of mine, and the opportunity to develop business techniques along with actual hands-on experience was something too great to pass up. During my Tech Fundamentals journey, I have fostered new strengths and become acquainted to an amazing cast of peers, educators, and professionals. I plan to develop my craft in technology by working towards a security career.
Judah Bland, 19, Bronx Internship Site: SCAN NY
Before entering the Tech Fundamentals course, I was really confused about what I wanted to do with my life. I was attempting to learn a variety of different things with no attachment to any of them. My sister had a colleague who suggested I apply to NPower’s Tech Fundamentals program. I always had an interest in tech so she figured it would be a good fit. At first, I thought it would be another dead end, but NPower sparked my love for knowledge. I became invested in learning everything I could and became attached to all of my classmates and the staff. After graduation, I look forward to furthering my skills in networking and moving into cloud technology.
Steffie Boodram, 23, Queens Internship Site: SCAN NY
Before becoming part of NPower’s Tech Fundamentals program, I had traveled down several paths. Being easily intrigued and hungry for growth, I began my career with sales. I started with direct marketing and later wanted to develop my skills, so I obtained my insurance license and became a broker and for a while an emergency dispatcher. As time passed, I wanted skills that were not easily acquired. NPower provided me a platform to grow and triggered a desire for self-value. The tech training has made me realize I have climbed a mountain with a map and now I am looking forward to pursuing business analysis or cybersecurity.

Darryl Byron, 24, Queens Internship Site: TBA
Before beginning the NPower program, I was a fulltime manager at Geek Squad while selling sneakers at Journeys on the weekends. I had been thinking about taking the CompTIA+ Certification test for about a year or so but did not have the funds to do so. I later stumbled upon NPower and knew it was the right place for me. The amazing teaching skills by Kashif and Adrian simplified the learning for us. Once graduating from this program, I am still looking to obtain more computer certifications and hopefully, one day, have my own software company. It is important to “let your ambition carry you.”
Kelvin Canela, 24, Bronx Internship Site: The Synergos Institute
Before joining the Tech Fundamentals program, I was interviewing for many technical positions without any success. I wanted to find a different path to reach my goal. A friend told me about NPower, and I immediately applied. The ample amount of support that the staff has shown is a major benefit that I have gained during my journey as a student. After graduating, I plan to increase my knowledge in data analytics and eventually to become a security consultant.
Victoria Carden, 25, Plainfield, NJ Internship Site: Harlem Children’s Zone
Having been financially unstable my whole life, I wanted to make sure I did all I had to do to make a better life for myself. Technology was always a field I had been interested in, and one day I took to Google and came across NPower’s Tech Fundamentals program. NPower’s values stood out to me the most and drove me to apply. I knew that to make it successfully through my journey at NPower, I would have to use my faith, confidence, and perseverance. I could not have gotten through these twenty-two weeks without the help of my favorite staff member Shazel, my motivating instructor Kashif, and my mother who sacrificed her time, sleep, and income for me to attend NPower. I am forever grateful. With this experience from NPower, I would like to obtain a job that combines my passion for journalism and technology.

Muhamadou Ceesay, 24, Bronx Internship Site: ASPCA
I was working as a recruiter for an IT staffing firm. I liked it a bit, but noticed I was more interested in the technology itself, rather than hunting for candidates to do the job. I decided to pursue my passion for technology and leave the recruiting industry. I believe this change was the best decision I ever made as a young adult. The hard work and passion of each staff member stands out. They all want you to succeed and arm you with the tools needed to do so. Everyone is so patient and caring; it is like having a support group. After graduating the program, I plan on pursing higher certifications to increase my knowledge in networking technology.
Fahad Choudhury, 24, Bronx Internship Site: KPMG
I was introduced to NPower by a close friend from Harlem Class 38. I was working as a cash office responsible at H&M. There, I felt my educational background and previous work experience were not being utilized, which made me feel like just another foot soldier rather than an important member of the team. My friend spoke highly and passionately about NPower and stated how they taught him how to develop into a corporate individual. The program provided both the professional and technology training to succeed. I was always passionate about technology, finding myself tinkering with mobile devices and computers at home without much core knowledge. Upon joining NPower’s Tech Fundamental program, I quickly came to grasp and understand all the jargon so it would be easier for me to communicate in the language of technology. The program has worked wonders for me, by extending my network, earning my CompTIA A+ certification, and jump-starting my technology career in cybersecurity. The basic knowledge of networks and security provided a stepping stone to my career. Securing the online scape is very important as we have recently seen with the data-breaches within prestigious companies.

Romaine Clarke, 25, New York
Internship Site: Heketi Community Charter School
After graduating high school, I did not know what I wanted to do. I found NPower’s Tech Fundamentals program through my guidance counselor, but I turned it down and passed it on to a friend. I started working as a retail associate, and after a year I saw what the program did for my friend. I decided to join and luckily was accepted. NPower does more than provide you tech skills, it prepares you for the interviews and the work world. Before this program, if I wanted to change a ram or upgrade any other hardware components, I had go on YouTube. Now I can rely on myself. After graduation, I look forward to pursuing a future in technology.
Tevin James Evans, 25, Brooklyn Internship Site: World Cares Center
Before embarking on my NPower journey, I had been searching for a career path that allowed me to combine my passions. I applied to Tech Fundamentals to take a step forward, believing knowledge is power. What makes NPower unique is its support system, which gave me the resources I needed to succeed. As my time at NPower draws to a close, I hope to use the talents and knowledge I have acquired to pursue a career in customer relations management.
Yevhenii Fedorovskyi, 23, Queens Internship Site: Mayor’s Office of Contract Services
I came to the United States just two years ago and right away began looking for job opportunities in IT. I searched the internet and found NPower’s Tech Fundamentals program. It was exactly what I was looking for. During my time at NPower, I enjoyed studying because of the professional environment, really good instructors, and curriculum. After graduation, I look forward to becoming a software developer and one day maybe even a data scientist.

Rusean Gayle, 24, Bronx Internship Site: NY Charities
Before becoming part of NPower, I had little knowledge of IT. I chose to apply to the Tech Fundamentals program because I wanted to advance my IT skills to be able to fix my computer. Also, I wanted to be one of those cool guys showing people how to fix their computers. During my journey as a student in the Tech Fundamentals program, I enjoyed the hands-on experience, site visits, and guest lectures. Furthermore, NPower was an excellent way to network with people. After graduation, I plan to apply my hands-on experience to work within a cable company or possibly teach technology to students with special needs.
Argenis Geraldino, 20, Bronx
Internship Site: Girls Prep Bronx Middle School
Before NPower, I was stuck. At the time I was trying to meet with people in regards to where my future could go. I did not have any idea, or to be honest, many options. Since youth, I have thought of being involved with computers, but the routes people in the field had taken were not open to me. Finding the Tech Fundamentals program brought me to the amazingly helpful staff and an ever-evolving curriculum that has widened my knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of technology. I have found myself looking forward to a career in the tech field.
William S. Grant, 22, New York Internship Site: ASI System Integration
Growing up, I believed that technology had a huge impact on the growth of society. I had always felt the urge to learn more about the technology I use in my everyday life and apply that in the work field. Before NPower, I only knew how to open specific apps and connect to the internet. NPower has had a huge impact in not only teaching me Tech Fundamentals such as hardware, software troubleshooting, and basic security, but taught me successful networking skills. The kindness of the NPower staff truly struck me as they helped me develop new skills and refine the ones I had. After NPower, I intend to use these skills within a technical field and grow even further.

Tariq Holland, 22, Bronx Internship Site: Union Settlement
Prior to the Tech Fundamentals program at NPower, I was stumbling between dead-end jobs. I was trying to make money to help support my family. However, I knew it was not the work I wanted to do forever. After realizing how much I loved working with technology, I figured my next step should be to pursue a career within it. After some research, I found NPower, and I applied and was accepted. My journey in the Tech Fundamentals program has been very exciting. What stood out to me the most was the incredible amount of detailed instruction that we received in such a short time. Because of this instruction, I can confidently say that I plan to continue to improve my skills as an IT technician and eventually own my own tech business.
Tony Huang, 23, Queens Internship Site: EZE Castle Integration
I have always been interested in building computers, but I did not know how to get started within a career in the IT field. I decided to work in retail until I heard about a friend who established a career in IT thanks to NPower’s Tech Fundamentals program. I applied after hearing about the details, and luckily I was accepted. I am grateful for the technical knowledge and professional development provided to me through NPower. I am aiming to obtain my Network+ Certification next to become a network engineer in the future.
Rahmel Hunter, 24, New York
Internship Site: The Studio Museum of Harlem
Before the Tech Fundamentals program, I was a residential aid helping the underprivileged. I worked long hours without an idea as to how I was going to reach my goals for the future. I heard about NPower and decided to apply since I have always had an interest in technology. During my time at NPower, I was impressed by how much the instructors prepared me for my professional career, from the hard skills to soft skills. NPower made sure I had everything down. Once I graduate, I plan to forge a career in cybersecurity and network administration.

I grew up alongside ever changing technology, which became second nature to me. For the past few years I had been studying a variety of fields, but I was not sure of what I wanted to do until I enrolled to NPower’s Tech Fundamentals program. I realized that my interests and passion was in the field of technology. Through this program, I was able to learn and enhance the ability to utilize technological devices on a higher level. After graduation, I look forward to continue learning in the fields of networking and cybersecurity and one day becoming a knowledgeable cybersecurity engineer.
Thomas Lau, 23, Queens

Prior to NPower’s Tech Fundamentals program, I worked part-time at Target as a sales floor team member with no career path in mind. Around this time a good friend of mine, who also happened to be an alumnus of NPower, introduced me to the program. I felt that this program would be a perfect place to start my career in technology. During my journey as an NPower student, I learned a vast amount of technical skills and soft skills as well as meeting great individuals. The program provided me with an amazing experience overall. After graduating from the Tech Fundamentals, I look forward to obtaining more tech-related certifications with the end goal of becoming a software developer in the field of artificial intelligence.
Brian Lopez, 25, Queens Internship Site: SCAN NY
Prior to my involvement with NPower, I had just finished another internship with little idea of how I was going to find a job in an industry I enjoyed. A passing interest in computers gave me an idea of what I wanted to try next. A representative from NPower introduced me to their Tech Fundamentals program, and the path of my destiny became clear. From the moment I joined, I knew this was the right choice for me. Every moment has brought me one step closer to a life of fulfillment, where the work I do not only matters, but I enjoy it as well. Given time, my pursuit of becoming a cybersecurity analyst will soon become a reality and I have the NPower program to thank for the opportunity.

Renso Marte, 18, Queens
Internship Site: Girls Prep Bronx Middle School
Before NPower, I was a recent high school graduate with no idea what I was going to do with my life. One day, I came across a flyer for a tech program. Technology always interested me and I contacted the program’s CEO for further information. I ended up becoming very close to her, and she recommended I apply for another tech program where she previously instructed. To my luck, it was NPower. During my time at NPower, the love I had for technology grew. I learned so many things during my time at Tech Fundamentals, from Windows commands to drive mapping, and computer assembly through to ethernet cabling, to name a few. After graduation, I look forward to learning more about technology and becoming a computer system analyst.
Solveig Nolasco, 25, Bronx Internship Site: Citi
Before NPower’s Tech Fundamentals, I was an early Childhood Education Teacher at a Head Start. Even though my previous career was exciting and gratifying, I was not growing in the field. Therefore I needed a change and decided to apply to join Tech Fundamentals, which has been a great experience, and it has allowed me to grow and see that the opportunities are unlimited in the technology field. During my journey at NPower, I was able to prove to myself that I can achieve other goals outside of teaching and expand in a different career path. I aspire to become a cybersecurity analyst or a data analyst in the near future.
Aneuris Nuñez, 23, Queens Internship Site: EZE Castle Integration
Before the Tech Fundamentals program, I was a full-time cook and cheese monger at a restaurant with only one career plan. My interest in IT and desire to have a career within the field brought me to NPower. After being in the program for a few weeks, I was surprised by the resources available. I appreciated how the staff made sure we were always prepared and pushed us towards our success. After graduation, I look forward to enhancing my skills and further expanding my knowledge in this wonderful field.

Nelson Ortega-Bailey, 25, Bronx Internship Site: Riverstone Senior Life Services
If you asked me what I was doing six months ago, I would tell you that I was a certified nursing assistant. The workload was high and to be honest, it was not my passion. I knew that I wanted a job that would allow me to help people and that would incorporate technology. Being part of NPower’s Tech Fundamentals program helped me attain my CompTIA A+ Certification and the necessary skills to combine these two callings. During my time at NPower, I decided after graduation I would embark on a career path in networking.
David Paulino, 24, Bronx Internship Site: The Synergos Institute
I was lost before the Tech Fundamentals program, and I felt I had no direction in regard to my career plan. I was always interested in information technology, but never knew how to take the first step. It was not until a friend recommended Tech Fundamentals that I knew. Without hesitation, I applied and was accepted. Joining the program is one of the best decisions I have ever made. The time I have spent at NPower has been enjoyable because it reminded me of how much I missed learning and being in a classroom setting. I was genuinely surprised by the amount of dedication, support, and patience I received and witnessed from NPower. I was also surprised by how many professions there are within IT. Data analytics ignited an interest in me. It is a story that can be told by numbers. After graduating from NPower, I plan to further my skills in cybersecurity and data analytics. In the future, I would like to volunteer in developing countries in assisting them with my skills. By outsourcing my skills, I can demonstrate that information technology can be a vehicle in community development.

I was at an awkward position in my life. I was working at dead end jobs for minimal pay and struggling to find a career that fueled my passion. It took some time, but when I learned about the NPower Tech Fundamentals program, I felt like it was my calling. I have been fascinated with computers since an early age, and knew joining this program was the right choice. During my time at NPower, I built great relationships and successfully acquired my A+ certification. After graduation, I plan to apply for the cybersecurity course and look forward to eventually becoming a cybersecurity analyst.

Before getting into the Tech Fundamentals program at NPower, I had no particular direction. I had recently moved to New York and did not know where to start. Luckily, one of the counselors I met informed me about NPower. During my time at NPower, I not only learned about various technical skills, but also got the opportunity to transform myself to work in a professional environment. I will always be thankful to NPower for all the support I received. After graduation, I am looking forward to getting into the field of digital design to merge the tech skills I attained from NPower with my creativity.
Joseph Rodriguez, 23, Bronx Internship Site: Maureen Data Systems
Before NPower Tech Fundamentals, I was working fulltime as a retail photographer and I did not know what was next. I always had a soft spot for technology and figuring out how things work. When a friend suggested NPower’s Tech Fundamentals, I decided to apply, and was accepted. I was amazed by how much I was able to absorb in such little time. The staff was helpful, supporting and always had our best interests in mind. Now with NPower behind me, and the wide open field of IT before me, I feel that network administration and project management stand out to me the most. All of these experiences shaped me into who I am today, and I eagerly anticipate what the future of the IT world holds for me.

Before NPower’s Tech Fundamentals program, I was working at Hunter College as a calculus tutor. I met someone through a friend who told me about this program. He told me how amazing NPower was and how it helped him get an internship at Citi which is where he currently works. After realizing that I was undecided on what I wanted to do career wise, I decided to apply. I have always had an interest in information technology, and had never been offered this kind of opportunity. While at NPower, I met a lot of good hearted and intelligent people. After graduation, I look forward to settling into data analytics.

Prior to joining the Tech Fundamentals program, I was an office intern at Bronx Community College through the Young Adult Internship Program. After my internship was over, I decided to join NPower because I wanted to obtain my CompTIA A+ Certification and learn more about information technology with a hands-on internship in the field. My journey in the program has been fantastic. I am now CompTIA A+ Certified and was lucky enough to have interned at Citi which I will forever be grateful for. After graduation, I would like to explore and learn more about the cybersecurity field and potentially become a cybersecurity professional.
Johnny C. Tepoz, 24, Flushing Internship Site: Helmsley Charitable Trust
Prior to NPower’s Tech Fundamentals, I was just a guy interested in technology. I thought NPower would help me develop that interest, so I applied hoping to expand my knowledge while learning the necessary skills to survive in a professional environment. I have learned a lot during my time here, and I am still aghast at how hard everyone works to ensure everyone leaves the program with something they can carry for the rest of their lives. I look forward to maintaining the connections I have made at NPower and hope to put what I learned to use by pursuing a career in the technology field.
Brandon Valle, 22, New York Internship Site: SCAN NY
I pretty much did what anyone else would do right after high school. I worked a few jobs here and there, capitalized on a few talents and trades, and ultimately entered the horrible world of retail management. After hearing about the curriculum through a job fair at Bronx Community College. I became enthralled in the benefits that NPower offers to students. I chose to apply because I sought out a challenge that was incredibly different from the mundane retail job setting. After being in the program for twenty-two weeks, I have learned so much that I cannot even begin to reiterate what values I will reverberate throughout my professional career. I cannot thank NPower enough for giving me the opportunity to abate the plebian lifestyle that everyone is conditioned to. I plan on taking the knowledge instilled in me and ultimately become a Grey Hat. I hope to use the knowledge accrued from pen testing to pursue a career that incorporates business, law, and IT. 40

Previous to NPower’s Tech Fundamentals program, I worked as an assistant manager at a bistro. I woke up one morning and decided I wanted to make a change in my life. I had an interest in technology, and went online to search programs and my options, finding NPower. At NPower, not only did I learn more about technology, but I feel the program brought me out of my shell. I have improved my soft skills and learned new ways to communicate. After graduation, I would like to attain a project management role while furthering my education in cybersecurity and coding.
Gabriel Juan Vazquez, 22, Bronx Internship Site: Harlem Children’s Zone
Before the Tech Fundamentals program, I was a cashier at Yankee Stadium working extra-long shifts. I had no plans for my future career. One day I was introduced to NPower, and could not pass up such a great opportunity knowing I would be able to build a career path for myself. Throughout the program, you cannot help but realize how much effort the staff puts into ensuring everyone truly improves in multiple different aspects. After graduation, I will consider enrolling in the cybersecurity program, as I have growing interest in security.
Elvis Zelaya, 20, Bronx Internship Site: Citi
