I am a Tech Fundamentals Alumni and currently a dedicated and ambitious Cybersecurity student who has been involved with NPower for 3 years. I attained my Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity with a concentration in Network Defense with Magna Cum Laude honors, and as well acquired three industry-recognized certificates (CompTIA ITF, A+, & Security+) through NPower.
NPower has givenme an incredible opportunity to obtain the essential certifications. I’ve noticed that having a degree doesn’t guarantee you anything regarding career projections–it’s your experiences and leveraged aptitudes that take you to the next level. I am grateful to have
discovered this program and professional development team as they have given me an opportunity now to work as a part of the NPower team in a contract role. This experience has added an extra boost of confidence as I start interviewing for Cybersecurity analyst roles.
“ You are never too busy; the truth is you are afraid. Take the leap to make your dreams come true by taking big or small steps and manifesting them every morning and night.” #persistence #fortitude #patience
Prior to NPower, I was a transaction coordinator for a relatively small real estate office; my job responsibilities ranged from duties such as establishing security practices and to managing the office’s more technical side. As a transaction coordinator, client confidentiality was a priority and while managing a pipeline of 35+ files weekly, I had to adopt new skills by creating fluidity between pen & paper and tech. Thankfully, these skills were sought out by a title company representative who encouraged me to further my abilities by enrolling into NPower’s IT Fundamentals course. My time at NPower has given me just that; I was able to obtain multiple certifications that solidify these abilities
and so, after graduating I plan to continue obtaining even more knowledge by enrolling into NPower’s Cyber Security course while obtaining a bachelors in Software Engineering. NPower has created a clearer path in what I have always been meant to do.

Before NPower I was working as a private driver for a driving company, and I realized that I did not want to continue moving from job to job and that I would rather have a stable career. I felt very proud to have been accepted to NPower and had the opportunity to advance my technical skills because I have been interested in tech since I was a little girl. During my time in NPower I have gained my ITF+ certification, learned a lot about databases and Wi-Fi technologies, met many wonderful people, and gained more confidence around my interview skills.
I specifically enjoyed the guest speakers that would present to our professional development class because they presented new perspectives and experiences. I’m grateful that a program like NPower exists and brings a tuition free opportunity to learn tech to people who normally might not have those chances. After the program I hope to find a stable career in tech in an IT Support Help Desk role and in the future, I would like to work in a more advanced technical field role such as cybersecurity.
Los Angeles, CA
I have recently been trained and certified in tech fundamentals, public speaking, professional writing, and data organization meaning I have both administrative and educational experience. I am passionate about the different fields involving communication and managerial settings based on my studies while studying for my BA in English and Professional Communications. I am well knowledgeable in both daily communication, audience presentations, and professional writing, and I can pair these skills with technical elements through my attainment in CompTIA+ certifications as well as Google Certifications. role such as cybersecurity.
Palmdale, CA
Before my journey in NPower, I was majoring in mechanical engineering at Antelope Valley College. I was introduced to NPower by my brother-in-law. I would recommend NPower to my friends and family members because they have helped my social anxiety and as well preparing me to get a job in the real world. I appreciate everything NPower has done to help my confidence. ed technical field role such as cybersecurity.
Before NPower I was a bartender at a champagne bar in my hometown. I found out about NPower through social media, when I came across a video of a former student who shared her experience. Her interest in starting a career in the Tech Industry was supported by NPower. I related to her story, so I decided to look into the program myself. My time at NPower gave me a sense of direction that I didn’t have before; confidence within myself and most importantly, gained a great support system. After I graduate, I plan to build my portfolio by completing internships/ apprenticeships and eventually become a Software Developer.

Before starting NPower I was working as a cook for the last 3 years working paycheck to paycheck. I wanted to go back to school but it was difficult with 2 kids at home and the financial situation I was in. I found NPower through the power of the internet. I decided to jump into it with everything I had because after all, I had nothing to lose but everything to gain. Throughout the program, I experienced times of difficulty and being pushed out of my comfort zone but through it all, I trusted the process and anticipated the satisfaction of pushing myself to reach my goal. I’m thankful to be walking away with my new skills, certifications, and all the wonderful people I met along the way, headed on a new path toward my first tech job.

Before NPower I had been employed as a truck driver which was a means to an end. I had never been on a career path that I enjoyed. It was always out of necessity and what was available at the time. I decided this time because I had the time and the drive; I would finish my career in something that I had interest in. So, I began a search in the IT field, and it led me to NPower. I began with them in the fall of 2022 and have become even more excited about this journey. The people here are caring, kind, and so knowledgeable that I am already sure I’ve made a great decision. I look forward to a long and lasting relationship with everyone here.
Thank you all, you are the best!

Prior to NPower I was working two regular jobs: one in the healthcare industry and one as a Behavior Technician for the Solano County School District. What brought me NPower was the opportunity to be educated in the I.T. field and gain a career that has unlimited growth potential. My journey thus far at NPower has taught me about the importance of having a network, improving what's on my resume and how to market myself on social media such as having a LinkedIn profile. I was able to accomplish a CompTIA ITF+ certification, Google Project Management certification, and ComptTIA A+ credentials. After graduating, I plan to continue with my education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science from SNHU along with a UC Davis Cybersecurity Certification Course.
Costa Mesa, CA
Before NPower, I was unemployed helping out my father in his work while I was looking for an entry job, internship, and apprenticeship in software development or handling data. I found out about NPower after searching every day for numerous openings on apprenticeships and entry jobs and reading about certifications they help you out with. After finding the NPower opening for the Spring cohort I applied and was soon accepted into the program.
My time at NPower is more than amazing; from the amount of support, you can get from your classmates on discord, the instructor helping you out with any questions you have making sure you understand the material thoroughly, and the staff is there for you to make sure you accomplish your goal and the networking opportunities you have while in the program. With my new skills, I plan to work in software development and further my knowledge in that field of tech work or go into a data analysis/ data engineering position.
San Diego, CA
Before NPower, I was looking for avenues that will enhance my education in the Tech field. I decided to take action this year to pursue this goal. I never thought I’d get my Tech fundamental certificate in less than a year. I am so grateful to NPower in helping me achieve that. Having come from the standpoint of a receptionist at a high demand tech company, I began to discover different career paths being behind the scenes of a software company. I found it intriguing, and I wanted to get involved in the creating aspect. From that point, I knew I wanted to learn tech and was glad to have found NPower’s tech program courses. NPower’s trainings are extremely professional, nonjudgmental, and one can break down the language of the different mechanisms behind tech fundamentals. I now feel more adept ready to take on a tech job. I feel more confident and ready to pursue this career.

Before NPower I was in between jobs unsure of what I wanted to do as far as my career goes. I kept hearing from family and family friends, “I didn’t know what I wanted to do till my late 20’s, early 30’s”. Waiting that long wasn't something I wanted to do and while searching for interesting careers, my sister introduced me to a program she was currently enrolled in called NPower. She spoke very highly about the program and informed me that aside from everyday learning, they provide opportunities to acquire certifications. They also introduce you to guest speakers who are in respected organizations and can help connect you with people that are in the same career field you may be interested in. All this is free of charge. I plan on applying for jobs that best suit my qualifications and interests after NPower, in hopes of finding a career.
San Jose, CA
Before I joined NPower I was working in Security as an Officer. I landed a post working at Workday Headquarters which is a huge global tech company, and I got a snapshot into what it’s like to work for a tech company. It looked awesome in my opinion so I decided to strategize how I would get my foot in the door of the tech industry. Luckily, I found out about NPower.
NPower has been such a great experience for me. I have made connections with a mentor who has hooked me up with an internship for the 2023 summer and have also made connections with classmates that could benefit me in the future.
NPower literally holds your hand through the process of earning basic certificates for an entry level IT (Information Technology) job. It’s been great for me and so beneficial to jump start my IT career. After NPower I’m going to land a job as an IT Help Desk Analyst or IT Support Specialist. After gaining and building up entry level experience in the IT industry, I want to move on to become a Cloud Engineer one day and maybe even manage my own cloud company.
Santa Rosa, CA
Prior to NPower I was pursuing a career in the health field. Once I began my education at the graduate level, I unfortunately lost the interest I initially had. I continued to explore other areas in the industry but with the pandemic I eventually was burnt-out as an essential worker and finally understood that a change was needed. What brought me to NPower was their dedication in guiding and creating opportunities in the tech industry for communities that often don’t have the necessary resources to purse such careers. My time at NPower gave me confidence in pursuing an industry I had no experience with. A healthy environment, dedicated instructors and approachable social services managers have made the journey of transitioning into this new field easy. With the new skills gained from completing certifications in IT Fundamentals, CompTIA A+ and the Google IT Support, I can confidently say that I have the necessary knowledge to initiate my career in IT. I thank NPower’s San Jose team for providing me the proper resources as I embark on a new and exciting path.
What brought me to NPower was its unconditional support from my instructors, professional development, and classmates in my cohort. I have big goals and career aspirations in IT/Cybersecurity and NPower had the program support that no other school gave me with certification vouchers, soft skills, interview -training, and Networking connections that I value the most from this program. It brought CEO’s and Program leaders into sessions providing advice and even real-world resume insights.
Before NPower, I had difficulties staying consistent with CompTIA/IT certification studies and I knew that joining this program would keep me on track! But did not realize their direct support of cohorts for job placements & internships post-program!
I joined the US Army right after high school at 18 years old. By joining the Army, I gained multiple years of diverse, valuable experience. Offering supervisory and leadership skills, my time as a soldier going overseas to different countries provided me the opportunity to work in stressful situations with unexpected outcomes. I am grateful that I came across NPower as they helped me get started in my potential career.
Before NPower, I was working for the military. I was assisting an IT Specialist at my job for a year, when I developed an interest in technology and decided I wanted to pursue a career in the Tech field. While seeking resources and schooling to start my career my supervisor introduced me to NPower. My time at NPower gave me a deeper knowledge of different routes that are available within the tech field along with greater knowledge on technology and career advancements. After graduation, I plan to gain an entry-level position in IT Helpdesk to ultimately land a job in Cybersecurity.
Buena Park, CA
Before starting at NPower, I always had a passion for technology but didn’t know where to start or how. I was jobless and didn’t have the money to support myself to go to school or pay for a program. I found out about NPower through a former coworker who had mentioned they support veterans with professional development and career discovery. I decided to look into the program and realized that this program was perfect for me. This program has been excellent. I had the opportunity to network, learn about internships, mentorships, and go through the certification training.
NPower is perfect for veterans and young adults who cannot afford traditional or vocational schooling, the bonus to the program is that it is free. I look forward to utilizing the certifications that I have earned to launch my career in tech! I am excited to apply the skills that I have developed through the process to put my foot forward to continue learning and developing.

Before joining NPower I was working at Northrop Grumman as an Aircraft Structural Technician. What brought me to NPower was looking to change my career path. My time at NPower gave me a look at how many different fields there are in tech. With it being an instructor-led program, it gave me the ability to repair my own computer at home with troubleshooting and understanding of what goes on in a CPU System. Also, an understanding of mobile technology and the capabilities it has right in my pocket; giving me a little more confidence to speak in public and interviews.
After NPower I want to pursue either a cyber security or software developer position. My ability to pick up new skills by practicing resilience and patience, has resulted in acquiring the CompTIA certification, and this accomplishment reassures me that I can do even more as I start my career.
Laguna Niguel, CA
Before starting NPower, I was back and forth between jobs as I was having trouble finding meaning and purpose in my work. I wanted to break into Information technology, but I had no idea what the best way was without experience. I was introduced to NPower through Work for Warriors via email. It sounded too good to be true. So, I called NPower right away to speak about the program. So, I decided to take a leap leaving my job as a sales manager at a car dealership to make a career move, I believed would benefit me in the long run. NPower was able to give me a kick start with certification training that gave me the skills to obtain my first corporate IT role at Taco Bell Headquarters. This organization has been such a blessing in guiding me to launch my career in IT!
CA
Before starting NPower, I was a Marine for five years as a Weapons Technician serving at three different units with two tours to Afghanistan. Afterwards I became a military contractor for a special operations unit. After working for them for 6 years, the unit relocated to the East Coast ending my contract with them. Nearing the end of my contract, my best friend told me about NPower because he knew I have wanted to get into the IT world for the longest time, but I had no more funding for schooling.
Lucky for me NPower is free and was exactly what I was looking for, to begin my IT career. When I started NPower, I had no knowledge or experience in IT. They gave me the training and certifications I needed to start a basic IT job and to further advance in this career field. Currently I am in an advanced NPower class to work towards my A+ certifications.
CA
Before joining NPower, I was a classical saxophonist and had led projects in product development of music accessory innovation and creating nonprofit organizations to help job seekers improve their interviewing skills. After receiving my Master’s in Music Performance, I joined the Army Band Reserves and increased my experience in quality assurance, project management, and leadership. I am a Team Leader of six soldiers and received an Army Achievement Medal for spearheading maintenance of $4,000,000 worth of assets and creating a six-month recruitment program within two weeks during COVID.
NPower came into my life during COVID quarantine and I developed a fondness for software. It was an enlightening process as participating in music performance can be directly applied to programming as well. My instructors were able to showcase a number of career paths I can take alongside building a strong fundamental knowledge of IT. After receiving my certifications in ITF+ and A+, I plan to pursue a career in either IT Project Management, DevOPs, Product Manager, Software Engineer, or Security.
Upland, CA
I joined the U.S. Marine Corps right after high school at the age of 17. I have always been inspired to be in the military ever since I was child. I joined as an infantry man and later transition into a more technical field on sensor operator. After my 8 years in the service, I attended Mt. San Antonio community college without really knowing what I wanted to study. In community college I switched my major multiple times from science to engineering, but eventually found my passion for art. At University of California State Los Angeles, I chose art or more specifically 3D animation because it combined my technical and artistic side fluently. I graduated in 2020 which unfortunately was a few weeks before the pandemic started and made it difficult to find work.
I was fortunate enough to find remote work for the State of California as an Employment Program Representative but was no passionate about my work. I came across NPower during this time and was eager to learn a new skill and build upon my previous technical experience. Luckily enough my remote work contract was ending right when the NPower course was starting. Since starting NPower my passion in tech has been reignited and I have learned so much from the program and its instructors. I know NPower has built the foundation for my IT career and am excited to see what the future in this new career brings.
Orange, California
Before NPower I was working for Vans as a sales lead assisting customers and building rapport relationships with my colleagues. I was originally introduced to NPower by a childhood friend who approached me after him being released from the military last year. He asked me if I’ve been still working for Vans ever since he’s been deployed and I said, “yes”. We started shifting the conversation into how we’ve enjoyed technology as little kids growing up playing with our consoles, building and tearing apart computer parts, and using video games to enjoy our childhood to bond with each other. Having that conversation made me realize my passion and how that passion can be created into a career. After graduation, I plan to attend the NPower Cyber Security program to become an information security analyst. I want to achieve my goals of transitioning into the field and thanks to NPower, I can achieve that dream. I couldn’t be more than happy to have joined such a great program.
Bellflower, CA
Being a young mother, my family has always been my priority. Choosing a career had always been difficult, but I was always optimistic about choosing something that was beneficial for the long run, like dental assistance. Right before the pandemic, I had my second child and began to lose motivation in the field I was pursuing, because of this I became a full time mom to really figure out what career I can find my spark in. Social media being a popular way to find a new job helped me learn how to put myself forward and introduce me to the world of tech.
NPower being one of the companies that I came across stood out to me because of the supporting factors the company branded when changing into a new career, like the tech. Since being accepted into the program, I’ve accomplished being certified in Google IT Support, IT Fundamentals (ITF+) certification, and continuing to complete more certifications that they are offering. With NPower support and learning these skills, I am looking forward to perfecting my knowledge within tech and obtaining a successful career. Thank you, NPower, throughout this whole process.
Murrieta, CA
Prior to coming to NPower, I served nearly 6 years in the United States Navy as a Personnel Specialist. After active duty, I spend some time studying various subjects, and working a few different jobs, trying to find myself and my place in the world. I noticed I needed to update my skill set in order to obtain a job and a career worth having.
After moving around from a few different places, and trying many different things, I decided to search for programs to help Veterans, and I came across NPower. I was given information about the program, and I realized it was what I was looking for. I was searching for skills I could carry into the future and something I could be passionate about. I will always be grateful to NPower for this experience!
San Juan Bautista, CA
Throughout my time as an Army Parachute Rigger (92R) I was tasked with projects in a Subject Matter Expertise Exchange between the Brazilian Army, Chilean Army, and the U.S. Army, the tasks that I worked on set my journey onto the path of IT as I was talking with those of another service from another country that gave me a great insight into the multicultural diversity that I would encounter. After my service ended, I became a Correctional Officer and was placed in direct charge of up to 50 people that I tasked out to provide a service for up to 5000 individuals per day 7 days a week. This reinforced the multiethnic collaboration that I had gained from my service. I joined NPower to continue my love of IT, I also found that their diversity followed what I was achieving in life. Through the certifications of Project Management and the CompTIA A+ I can make full use of my experiences from my past. NPower has given me an ever-expanding network of diversity which can offer many fruitful solutions to our world's problems.
Santa Ana, CA
Before NPower, I tried to get into software development as a self-taught web developer. I was switching to tech from a background in the medical field because I believed that tech was where my true interest lied in. However, things didn’t go as planned and I was unable to make a successful switch. I didn’t really know what I wanted to do when I realized that several months of studying and practice hadn’t amounted to much.
I found NPower through my girlfriend. She was also making a switch to tech at the same time that I did but found significantly more success through NPower. Through her encouragement I applied to NPower and secured my Comptia IFT certification. Now more prospects are open to me than when I tried to strike out on my own. I’m really grateful to NPower for the opportunity it provided my girlfriend and I to switch careers after college.
Pomona, CA
After nine years in the military and twenty years of working in a government research laboratory, I felt the need to transition into another field. The new skill sets I learned to develop come from my long-term interest in the IT field. I am not sure about which route to take; nonetheless, my curiosity keeps me pushing forward, learning and growing as an entry-level I.T. professional. While browsing jobs at Linkedin, I ran into NPower and investigated what they do. The NPower program is more than just IT training. They have provided me with all the mentorship and necessary coaching to succeed. This is just the beginning of my IT career and NPower is giving me a solid foundation. Thank you, NPower.
Pomona, CA
Before NPower, I essentially was traversing an unknown journey, bouncing between customer service jobs in places like restaurants and movie theaters. What brought me to NPower was the opportunity to find better jobs. My dad invited me to NPower recently while I was working at Wal-Mart. I would occasionally find myself a bit curious as to how some computers worked in general. On top of that, the hotkeys for locking my screen and such have either been selftaught or something someone told me about. My time at NPower gave me info about computers that bring value to my goals. With these new skills and knowledge, I plan to apply for jobs like Computer Support Services and continue to grow from there.
Rosemead, CA
Before NPower I was working a minimum wage job, still living with my parents, just trying to get by in California. I was introduced to NPower by a job counselor because I wanted to put my Computer Engineering degree to use but didn’t know how. My time at NPower gave me the guidance I needed to pursue jobs I would have never even discovered had I not gone through the program. After graduation, I plan to work an entry level role in tech and continue to expand my knowledge in the field of IT.
San Francisco, CA
Before shortly starting NPower, I just moved to California from Tennessee. I had the privilege to learn about coding and IT during my high school years. Upon arriving I had no idea about this program. My loving Aunt, who is a Veteran Affairs Commissioner, introduced me to NPower, and days after moving she urged me to join. This program has been a lot to take in and a huge privilege, I’m still learning how to adapt to a new city and a new way of life. Honestly, I’m still trying to catch the flow of studying and working. Thankfully, the mentors have been so reasonable with my schedule, and I am truly thankful. In the future, I hope to use the experience, certifications, and great advice in the tech field. Possibly, working at a company where I can use my tech skills as well as my language skills.
Menifee, CA
Prior to NPower, I served eight years, enlisted active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Small Arms Repair Technician. I received an honorable discharge in 2018. I worked a contracting job as a Precision Weapons Technician while I pursued a college education. I graduated from the University of Phoenix in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Business with a focus in Financial Planning. I lost my employment when the contract position expired in 2022 and relocated to the East Coast.
The NPower program caught my attention, but I initially dismissed it as being unreal. After going through the interview process, I realized that the only thing NPower wanted in return was my time and dedication towards the materials to earn the certificates. The learning experience has been fantastic, and the instructors are great. The professional development portion was a huge benefit, especially when it came to resume writing and LinkedIn profile setup. One month before graduating, I was able to secure a job thanks to all the lessons I've learned throughout the program. I am grateful for everyone at NPower as they were all essential to my future in technology.
Richmond, CA
My introduction to NPower was at a Veterans’ Job fair. NPower is providing me with an entrance into the world of the future. With the hiring opportunities in the field of information technology exploding, NPower is providing me with the education to take advantage of the future in specialties that have yet to even be created. NPower is much more than IT education and has aided in me resume writing, elevator pitches, and interviewing skills which are integral parts of the course of study. It’s a complete support system that lasts after graduation. I appreciate the job stability afforded by the IT field and look forward to taking my place in the long line of successful NPower IT employees.

Before NPower, I worked as an Electrician Apprentice. It was my “Five-Year Plan”. I was near my second year into the apprenticeship when I got injured on the job and got laid off. During my yearlong recovery, I pursued a new career and took a few IT training courses to upskill myself. I have also enrolled in college to pursue an undergraduate degree in Software Development. However, I still felt the need to do more as I was unable to land an entry-level position in IT. I started to research Veteran programs that would assist me with gaining the skills that I need to enter this field and discovered NPower. During my time with NPower, I have been able to gain valuable knowledge that will get me a long way. I learned the fundamentals of IT and now feel a bit more confident in myself. After learning the basics of Tech
Fundamentals with NPower, I want to continue working with NPower by enrolling in the Advance Cloud courses.
CA
I served in the United States Navy on active duty from July 2001 – July 2021. I’m currently working with a defense contractor as a Product Implementation Specialist, utilizing the skills I learned in the military to provide database administrator/system administrator services. Additionally, I’m also married and a father of four. My main goal working with NPower is to improve my IT skills to pivot to a career in cybersecurity. I hope to use the skills I am learning in IT Technical Fundamentals to increase my hard skills, but to also give me a strong foundation to pursue more certificates and more advanced training in IT.
Sacramento, CA
Prior to NPower, I was a cell tower technician, I was introduced to the program through my friend who finished the course and with their certificates gained a career in tech. After seeing them succeed I wanted to see what NPower could offer me and through my time at NPower I received the education and certificates to help me advance to a better future.
San Jose, CA
Prior to NPower I was working as an Admin Crew Lead for San Jose Conservation Corps (SJCC), a non-profit organization that works closely with Second Harvest. Before that, I had worked various jobs that were physically demanding and realized that I could not sustain this level of work with a minimum wage pay grade. I was unsure of what I wanted to do but I would have to start somewhere.
However, no matter how hard I worked, all these jobs never really gave an opportunity to get your foot in the door unless you have worked for countless years. I have also attended community college, trying to figure out what to do but I haven't been back ever since the Covid Pandemic hit. I found out about NPower from my previous job at SJCC and I honestly feel like this program gives me a shot at success. After graduation, I plan to begin my new career in a tech company and complete my college degree.

I moved to the United States about a year and a half ago during the pandemic. I had to face many challenges. The first one was learning to write, read and speak English. As an Immigrant child my parents introduced me to what they knew best, nursing. I got my Certified Nursing Assistant license and began working in a skilled nursing facility home. For as long as I can remember, I have always been highly passionate and amazed by the Tech world. But I was scared to dive in, not knowing where or how to start.
I was introduced to NPower by a family friend, he told me everything about the program, how it works. He helped me with my application and fortunately I was accepted into the program. My time at NPower gave me the opportunity to learn about every aspect of IT. I learned about the practice of protecting systems, networks and programming from digital attacks. By the end of graduation, I intend to continue my education by obtaining more certifications in cybersecurity.
San Jose, CA
Before NPower I was lost on what I wanted to do for my future career. Luckily, I was introduced to NPower from my previous job after it was shut down. My time at NPower gave me flexibility and the opportunity to get my CompTIA ITF+, Google Project Management and CompTIA A+ certificate. After graduation, I plan to figure out which position best fits me. Once I find out which position, I hope to land a profitable paying job in the IT field.
Before starting NPower, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I was in a rough spot until my great friend recommended me to his job. I was working at a nonprofit called San Jose Conservation Corps but barely getting by. At the same time, I was also enrolled in a Medical Assistant program for about 3 months. It was crazy fun, but it didn’t work out because I have transportation issues and their locations were nowhere near me. Thankfully, the same friend who recommended me that job showed me NPower and reignited a spark I once had as a child when I would try to hack my Wii and jailbreak/root my devices. Fun times. Once I joined the program, I felt like I was right where I should be. For the first time, I was actually excited to learn more. Not only that but it’s also completely free for me. Coming from a financially struggling life, this is absolutely amazing. I am an insanely lucky person to have this opportunity. I constantly hear how great this program is and I’m all for it. I do look forward to my future wherever this path takes me whether it be programming, coding, or hopefully cybersecurity.
Prior to NPower, I was a university student who was struggling to keep up good grades and knew so little as to who I wanted to become. Although feeling lost, I was thankfully introduced to NPower by my relative, who was also a trainee, and I could not thank her enough. I never realized how much I enjoyed technology or anything IT-related until after the first two weeks as a trainee. I found myself thrilled with the information and knowledge provided to me all while eager to learn from the next lecture. As time went on, I realized how the previous cohorts became IT Professionals to excel in this industry. Not only are the instructors some of the best that I have come across, but all departments of the NPower team ensure my success within the program. Inside of the program, I was able to accomplish completing my certificates, gain a foundation of professionalism, and overall have a structured and clear goal to dive into the Worlds of Software Developer or Cybersecurity. Because of this golden opportunity, I will be able to start a new chapter in my life where I can take confident steps toward an ambitious dream. Go NPower!!
Lincoln, CA
Prior to NPower, I was working in social services serving at-risk-youth in my community. Although I liked my job, having grown in the system and proceeding to work for the system made me realize that there was more to life than having it revolve around trauma. I decided to finally pursue my interest in the tech world. After finding a couple of programs, I applied to NPower as their values best aligned with mine. NPower has given me the skillset support and confidence to go after my IT Fundamentals and A+ certifications so that I can continue growing and eventually reach a cybersecurity position. With NPower’s support, I have no doubt that I will reach my goals and in due time help others break into the tech world as well.
San Francisco, CA
Before NPower, I was bartending trying to figure out how to transition to a more meaningful career. From the start of class I knew I was in the right place and had all the tools and more to succeed in the IT field. As I progressed through the material it was clear the instructors had all experience levels in mind, and I had no doubt they had my back. As I approach testing and more, it's clear that without this course I wouldn’t be as prepared to step into a role immediately and be successful in my new career.
Los Angeles, CA
Before joining NPower, I attended California State University Northridge for my bachelor's degree in science. While attending college, I at the time had uncertainty and doubts about where to head with my career choice. I had a fascination for technology and cybersecurity from learning under my brother-in-law, who graduated college with a computer science degree. NPower was introduced to me by a family member who operates with the NPower team. I plan to complete ITF+, A+, and Network+ to enroll in the Security+ certification. The NPower team is a heartwarming support system. They assist one another as if they are family. Thank you, NPower, for helping me reach my goal of entering the cybersecurity approach.
Temecula, CA
Prior to NPower, I served 9 years in the U.S. Navy as a Boatswain Mate. I also spent time recruiting for the U.S Navy for 3 of those years. After active duty, I spent time working at the hospital as a nursing assistant, at a customer service call center, and in a few security positions. Whilst working in these different fields I realized that almost every career field has one requirement to stay functioning, technology. What brought me to NPower was my desire to get into a different field than what I was exposed to as a child. I can learn and create a future for myself. I received an email from a VA representative regarding technology programs, and I immediately reached out to NPower.
My time at NPower has given me the foundation of knowledge necessary to pursue a career in the IT community as well as in project management thus far. I was truly astonished to learn using limited knowledge of technology from the beginning. With my new skills, I plan on seeking employment and after establishing myself enrolling into higher learning opportunities. I am grateful to NPower for this opportunity and the constant investment in my success.
Diamond Bar, CA
Before NPower, I was a transitioning Veteran, retired from the Marine Corps after 24 years of honorable service. I was introduced to NPower through the Wounded Warrior Project, and after months of training, I am now able to understand the basic functions of IT. Although I was confronted with personal issues and circumstances, I was able to succeed through this amazing journey. With my new accomplishment, I plan to utilize these skills and moving forward, joining a different type of team, the IT team.

Prior to NPower I was unemployed and looking to transition careers from the Veterinary field to the Tech field. I was introduced to NPower by my husband who informed me of this amazing opportunity. I was hesitant at first since I had no previous experience in the field. However, what better way to get started than with a free program that prepares you with the tools needed to transition. At NPower I was able to prepare for the certification exams, develop professional skills, construct an appealing resume, and improve my interviewing skills. With my new skills, I am confident I will succeed as an IT professional and obtain full-time employment.
My time at NPower has given me just that; I was able to obtain multiple certifications that solidify these abilities and so, after graduating I plan to continue obtaining even more knowledge by enrolling into NPower’s Cyber Security course while obtaining a bachelor’s in software engineering. NPower has created a clearer path in what I have always been meant to do.
I joined the U.S. Army right after high school. At 24, I had some doubts about entering college at the time, so I decided to serve my country in 2019 as A Signal Specialist. While attending school, I came across NPower through Craigslist. At first, I had my doubts about it; because the program is totally free? I never had an interest in computers or technology, but I saw it as a learning experience and as something that I can build upon. Ever since I started the program, I have never regretted it. The staff were great as they helped me learn a lot in a short amount of time. I realized that this program would bring out what I put in because I have a strong work ethic. I am thankful that I came across NPower as they helped me get started in my career
Sacramento, CA
Before joining the NPower program, I was unsure where my career was heading. I was interested in the IT sector, but I did not have the necessary skills to confidently apply to job postings. I had worked for the U.S. Census Bureau previously and I had run a small promotional products business for ten years prior to that. I had an earlier career in financial services where I held a variety of positions. I knew I needed fresh education and training if I wanted to get in the IT field. I learned about the NPower IT Fundamentals program through a weekly VA newsletter. I was not only drawn to the training and certificates, but assistance with employment services and possible job placement as well. After successful graduation and obtaining the offered IT certificates, I hope to leverage my experience and education by securing a position where I can learn and grow in this field.
Los Angeles, CA
Prior to enrolling in NPower, I was pursuing a career as a syndicated talk show host. While working a gig, I met a woman that explained to me the importance of financial freedom, and the benefits of working in the IT industry. I later received a text message from my mentor, Schnell, about NPower. After sleeping on the idea of what my life would be like if I made a pivot in my career, I then decided to move forward and submit my application. I instantly felt as though I had made the right decision. My first interview with my assigned Social Support Manager, Mikala Hughes, gave me the confidence to proceed with the program 100%. I am forever grateful for NPower. The certification training, mentorship, and networking opportunities have all allowed me to expand my wings. I am very pleased with my results thus far. I am now looking forward to launching my tech career with aspirations to add my own spice to the mix and implement my skills in public speaking to motivate others to take a “leap of faith” in a pivot that may change their life for the greater good.
Simi Valley, CA
Before NPower, I served for six years on active duty in the US Army as a Multimedia Illustrator. After active duty, I started working as a Real Estate Agent, but it wasn’t for me. I decided to look at ways to get into the tech industry, but I didn’t know where to start. I found out about NPower through a VA email and applied. Now that the course is almost over, I can say, NPower is the best option for Vets and young adults that are looking to dive into the tech field.
By the time the course was over, I completed CompTIA Security+, CompTIA ITF+, Google IT support, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Azure. The program also inspired me to apply for an IT Master's program to further my knowledge and leadership ability in the IT Sector. As a Veteran and IT Professional, it is my mission and inspiration to serve others. Finally, I got a Job at Oracle! Starting December 5th, 2022.

Prior to NPower, I received my Bachelor’s in Psychology. I was working part-time as a Behavioral Therapist for children and adults with autism and/or disabilities. While I enjoyed helping others, I did not see myself in the Mental Health field for a long time. I came across NPower through a video on social media. After further research, I decided to apply as I have always been interested in technology, and it could be a great opportunity for me to focus on my professional development. My time at NPower provided me with the skills and knowledge about Information Technology that can help me succeed within the field. I am thankful for NPower and I look forward to beginning my career in IT.

Before NPower, I was bouncing from warehouse to warehouse, struggling to make ends meet. I was surviving check to check, not even living. I wanted to find a field I was comfortable in, and paid well enough to actually live & not just survive. Thankfully, Tik Tok introduced me to NPower. I decided to apply, thinking the worst that could happen was that I wouldn't get a callback. Between the class instruction, the guest speakers, and the personal development team, and certificate training.
I'm very blessed that the path NPower has set me on is bound to change the course of my life for the better. I’m very grateful that the whole course and certificates are funded by NPower, because I sure wouldn’t have the finances for what this class offers. I can’t wait to launch my tech career and with my new set of skills hope to one day work for PlayStation.

I proudly served in the US Navy as a Hospital Corpsman that specialized in Blood Banking for 8 years. I enjoyed the Navy but wanted a career change. I decided to go to school full time to pursue Engineering. I am currently enrolled at LA Harbor College and finally applying to transfer to a CSU and start Fall 2023. I think breaking into the tech industry that would be great! As the future becomes more and more digital, this would also apply to my future Engineering career. So, I needed to become more tech savvy to be more competitive in the job market as an Engineer. I became acquainted with the non-profit NPower because I wanted to improve my Tech Skills. I am quickly learning an enormous amount of tech fundamental skills and knowledge. I am confident in the skills that NPower was able to fast track and streamline my breakthrough into the Tech field.

My name is Maricza Salgado. I have experience in administration and nonprofit administration. Prior to NPower, I have worked as an Administrative Assistant in non-profits and higher education such as universities. I graduated in 2020, during the start of the pandemic. There were so many challenges occurring as I was also experiencing my first job after college. I pursued various opportunities, but I didn’t see the growth within myself.
Slowly, I became abundantly aware of the technology industry. Having an innovation mindset; I also appreciate the diversity of jobs. NPower has shown me much support. This opportunity has challenged me to learn more advanced business and technology fundamentals. Overall, NPower has provided me with more professional connections and gave me the confidence to network with alumni.

Prior to NPower, I was trying to climb the corporate ladder of customer service. I worked in several customer services positions in retail, food industry and call centers. One day I was scrolling through social media platform TikTok and came across an NPower Ad explaining the program. After further investigation of NPower, I discovered that the training program was exactly what I was looking for and more. I came into the NPower program without any technical skills and left with the knowledge and experience to begin my IT career. Thanks to NPower and the on-the-job experience I gained from my internship, I am confident in my ability as an IT professional. I thank NPower for jumpstarting my career.

Before NPower, I was transitioning out of the Army. I had earned achievement and expeditionary medals and commendation medals from the Navy, but nothing had prepared me for such a long and arduous transition. It was like a marathon in the mud and every step was like the surface was sucking my wet boots and needing both hands to pull one leg out at a time.
Eventually I finished a bachelor's degree and after many failed interviews over the course of two years I was feeling very defeated. The VA informed me about NPower, a Non-profit group that really seemed to care about their trainees. NPower has assisted me with technical knowledge, friends in the tech field, and learning that it is okay to ask for help. This program has laid the foundation I need to explore this field and I look forward to seeing what endeavors it leads me to.
Los Angeles, CA
Prior to NPower I was struggling to find a career due to the pandemic heavily impacting and shifting jobs. After coming across NPower through social media, I decided to apply to the NPower program in order to develop my skills and make a transition into the tech world. Being new to the tech world has had its difficult moments but I am extremely thankful for the NPower team because they were there to support me every step of the way by providing the necessary resources to succeed. Throughout both the IT Fundamental classes and the professional development classes I have gained the necessary tools, knowledge, and confidence to succeed in the tech industry. I am extremely excited to start this new career path as an IT support specialist or data analyst with the certifications that I have obtained so far throughout the program. Again, Thank You NPower for the continuous support you have provided.
Mariposa, CA
Before NPower, I was managing a Restaurant in a small tourist town looking to return to the Tech industry. I am an Air Force Vet. With Solid Technical and leadership skills. After I separated from active duty I worked in various aspects of the communications and electronics field until my life was dramatically altered. I was assaulted and severely injured and became disabled for several years. The road back was long and full of challenges. I found myself working in the food industry in an entry-level position then worked my way up to store manager where I have stayed for over 14 years. With the help of NPower, my dreams of returning to the Tech industry have become a reality by obtaining CompTIA Fundamentals and A+ as a foundation to move toward my goal of working in the Cyber Security field and as a Penetration tester.
Mariposa, CA
Serving in the US Army helped cultivate my leadership skills and I learned to be a team player. Before joining NPower, I was an IT Technician for the Department of Veteran Affairs. I had the honor of volunteering for Tier 1, a veteran suicide prevention hotline, where I helped veterans in need of mental assistance.
One of the things I enjoyed the most about NPower’s Professional Development class is gaining the skills necessary in anticipation to speaking with an employer that I’ve found to be extremely beneficial. As someone coming from an underserved community himself, I believe that tech can help bridge the gap between non-tech users to basic knowledge on how to use programs and equipment. In a year, I see myself working in Cybersecurity which would help me reach my goal of running my own team as a supervisor for an IT company within the next 3 years.
Los Angeles, CA
Prior to beginning my journey into IT with NPower, I had been given a few opportunities in the world of finance. While I am eternally grateful for these opportunities because they provided me with a great professional skillset. And lifelong relationships, I had hit a wall. The growth opportunities professionally and financially had begun to become stagnant. Then, the pandemic hit, and I financially struggled like most of the world. I was unfulfilled, struggling, and unhappy. However, during undergrad I was introduced to IT. I worked in a Technical Call Center, and I remember enjoying certain facets of this role.
I spoke to a friend who is a System Administrator for NASA. He began to tell me about his journey into IT, and accredited NPower. He spoke so highly of his experience that I felt compelled to research this organization and join. My experience with NPower has been nothing short of amazing. They provide you with the technical and professional skillset needed to confidently kickstart your tech career! Now that I have obtained my CompTIA ITF+ I am looking forward to starting my forever career in Tech.
Richmond, CA
I had just left college after my first year back in 2019 since both my parents had been diagnosed with serious health issues. I decided to work at a retail store part time for a planned amount of time, to save a little money and go back to school in a year or two. Flash forward to the middle of 2022 and I was working full time 50+ hours a week stressing over every last VP that came to the store and I finally realized that I went down a deep rabbit hole and I wanted out.
From there I decided to change my attitude and discover a career I wanted. And thanks to my girlfriend who had just graduated NPowers spring session, I decided this would be the best opportunity to get actual experience in the tech field.
Now I'm halfway through the program on the way to getting my ITF+ certificate and hopefully getting my first entry-level position in the field I wanted to be in from the first day 3 years ago. Soon I will be glad of the achievements I accomplished so far throughout my career and always wanted and will always be grateful to the incredible people at NPower who gave me the tools necessary to achieve my goals for my future.
Bell Gardens, CA
Before NPower I was a security consultant specializing in Burglar Alarms and High Security Pick Resistance Drill Resistance Locks, a Safe and Vault Technician and a Computer Software Consultant for Armor System Software. What brought me to NPower I was told about NPower while at a Veterans stand-down. My time at NPower I have been able to acquire five Computer IT Certificates of Completion. Google Technical Support Fundamentals, Google Bits and Bytes of Computer Networking, Google Operating Systems and You: Becoming a Power User, Google System Administration and IT Infrastructure Services, Google IT Security: Defense against the digital dark arts, and two Certification Google IT Support and CompTIA ITF+. With my new Certifications I hope to land a position in IT building and maintaining computer Local area networks.
Fontana, CA
Prior to NPower I had separated from my enlistment with the Air Force. I decided to take some time to myself and do some solo traveling. During my traveling, the Covid Pandemic occurred and threw everything in the loop. I was having trouble finding work in a field that I was interested in, and the only way I could leverage my experience in the service was to return to the same job in a civilian role.
I was introduced to NPower through a VA newsletter I subscribed to and figured that would help me get back on track due to the certifications it offers and the skills it could help develop through its training. My time at NPower gave me skills that are transferable to multiple industries. After graduation, I hope to continue the pursuit of knowledge and gain experience in the field of IT.
Pittsburg, CA
Before NPower, I was a self-employed Mobile Public Notary Public and Mobile Notary Signing Agent. However, they were not financially consistent. My wife, an NPower Alumni, introduced me to NPower. I wasam hesitant about NPower. I assumed NPower would be like going to college to go through all the mundane prerequisites to get a degree/ certificate, only to be uncertain about where it would take me. I am also worried that I will not be able to complete what I have started in NPower Tech Fundamental Program.
My short time at NPower was incredible. I gained a few certifications that gave me a positive outlook on my career in IT. Profession Development provides in-depth knowledge of maintaining work-life balance, applying soft skills, and acquiring multiple tools to transition into an IT career. I am confident that I will get an IT job where I can utilize all the knowledge, I have learned from NPower Tech Fundamental Program.
US ARMY
Served 6 Years
I served 2 years in the Georgia National Guard and 4 years in the U.S Active Duty Army with a combat deployment to Afghanistan. I loved the military and hated it at the same time. I thought it would be easy for me after leaving the military to find an opportunity to succeed and it seemed there were similar opportunities after the military as there were before I joined.
I heard about NPower from one of the people at the vet clinic I attend, and I figured it would be a great opportunity. I did everything I could do to be accepted. I have always had an affinity for technology and the technical side of things and because of this, NPower’s tuition free program was a very exciting opportunity for me. I achieved my ITF+ and hope to continue with NPowerto gain my A+, security +, and all the other certifications that the programs have to offer. I hope that I will soon be making a very stable income. I cannot wait to get started in the tech field!
Served 8 years
Land Combat Electronic Missile System Repair Technician
Before NPower I couldn’t facilitate an ideal lifestyle. All I did was accumulate education and adventures with no guide nor direction. It was convoluted, my goals weren’t S.M.A.R.T. goal-focused, defining my career goals and scope creep were a major issue. What brought me to NPower was the allure that came with the free educational package, job placement, and good sponsors.
My time with NPower gave me an invigorating boost to morale and my critical thinking skills manifested exponentially. It was all due to finding logical answers that help me indirectly cope with my past. Thanks to NPower, after graduation, I feel I am able to utilize my full potential in finding suitable employment and pay it forward to the next generation of young tech professionals.

Prior to NPower I was in my senior year of college and thought that I wanted to go into healthcare. While I still love the therapy field and mental health, I know that I won’t be able to thrive and reach my full potential. I was introduced to NPower by an amazing woman on social media and my time at NPower has been super valuable.
I’ve learned so many new things and new lessons that I’ll take with me after graduating and use them in my personal and professional life. NPower training has given me the soft and hard technical skills to go out there and pursue a career in tech that I’ll love. After I graduate from NPower I plan to get my first job and keep going up from there.

In today’s economy, over 50% of all jobs require some degree of technology and digital skill. We prepare untapped, diverse talent to fill the number of technology-oriented jobs that will increase in the U.S. to 13 million by 2025, according to a recent Microsoft Data Science report that estimates that digital job capacity. Our graduates of over 4,000 veterans and young adults are hired at over 2000 companies and nonprofits as interns and full-time employees.
NPower is on a mission to create pathways to economic prosperity by launching digital careers for young adults and military veterans from underserved communities. Part of this goal is our ‘40 by 22’ initiative, which aims to advance more young women of color in tech careers. This initiative is supported by the Citi Foundation’s Pathways to Progress initiative.
