NPower has been a major turning point in my career, thanks to the amazing instructors and the hands-on training. I discovered NPower while searching for jobs on Indeed, but I was living in Southern California and was skeptical about applying, since it was based far away. After speaking to my advisors, I knew I needed to get a jumpstart and turn my dream of a career in cybersecurity into a reality. It was intense, learning every aspect of IT, as well as the history. I learned about the aspects of security and how to protect and prevent malware in a company’s system. I intend to continue my education by obtaining my CompTIA certification in cybersecurity and taking my last stride into penetration testing.

Before joining NPower, I was a recent college graduate struggling to launch my career in technology. I have an associate’s degree in computer science and information systems. I was looking forward to beginning my career, but I soon realized that my degree was not enough. I became frustrated, feeling that my career was being deterred. Then through Indeed, I found NPower and applied. Joining NPower was one the best decisions I have ever made. It gave me the opportunity to grow as a professional. I acquired soft and technical skills I was missing. The instructors and counselors inspired me to continue to grow. I am truly grateful to everyone at NPower. Now I can confidently say I am ready to launch my IT career!

I have always had a strong passion for technology. Since high school, I was the computer geek for my family and friends. I would troubleshoot electronic devices as a hobby, but thought computer science was for geniuses. After working for a while in sales, I decided to challenge myself and joined NPower to get high-demand IT skills. I gained knowledge and experience and met great people. NPower has connections with various companies. I learned to network and grow my network with various tech professionals.

Before NPower, I was figuring out my next step as far as a career goes. In school, I had already considered changing my major twice and was looking to become inspired again, so I decided to take a chance with NPower, and I’m so glad I did. I not only obtained two technical certifications, but also received invaluable advice, information, and knowledge from guest speakers, instructors and colleagues. I will consider and appreciate this support throughout my career. After NPower, I plan to continue my education and obtain certifications in CompTIA’s A+, Network + and Security+.

Before NPower I was working as a data technician and desktop support person, and I gained some experience in the IT field. Growing up, I’ve always been into computers, ever since my brother showed me a cool robot game when I was seven years old. I remember having dial-up internet, and searching the web, mostly on YouTube, and watching funny videos. When NPower accepted me, it was lifechanging. Fortunately, with my job experience, I knew what my instructors were talking about. I had basic knowledge, but NPower taught me much more; my instructors were awesome! I am now confident in making a career change and starting my life in the IT field. Go, NPower!

After graduating high school, I went straight to college as an athlete. I didn’t know what career path to follow. I wondered, “Would I feel fulfilled with my degree knowing this is what I want to do?” The answer was no. I was just blindly going to college for a degree. I applied to jobs in different industries to learn more about myself. I realized after my fourth job that in many industries there is a lack of diversity. It was disheartening, but it motivated me to pave the way for others like me. I needed to learn essential skills to break into Fortune 500 companies. I recited inspiring affirmations every morning that I deserve to be here; I am going to fight to stay here and I will build a community here. Thanks to NPower and other nonprofit organizations that saw my potential, it’s my turn!

I found NPower while looking for online IT coursework to stay competitive. My background is in computer hardware engineering. Wanting to pivot, I decided to explore the other side of the tech sphere. What I enjoy most is the impact my actions have. When you service a client, a major company or just one person who needs help, you are solving problems. Clients go from being extremely frustrated to the complete opposite by the end of one phone call! Learning all the information to do this is difficult on your own. NPower allowed me to gain this knowledge in a comfortable and diverse environment. After acquiring strong fundamentals and certifications, I plan to continue my work in IT. Network engineering appeals to me since it brings in my engineering background.

Before NPower, I struggled with the impact of COVID-19-19 on our society. I was laid off from my job, and due to financial issues, I wasn’t able to attend university. I applied to hundreds of jobs online with no luck. Then I saw the NPower listing for an IT Fundamentals internship on Indeed. I honestly didn’t expect to be accepted, but I’m happy I was. I have learned fundamental IT skills and gained a regular structure and routine. I have a strong support system. I also learned vital soft skills that allow me to effectively communicate with others, network, and be an IT professional. Thank you, NPower!

Prior to joining NPower, I had absolutely no IT background or knowledge. I served in the U.S. Army for 12 years, which gave me the privilege of joining NPower as a veteran. Over what appeared to be a long, yet really short, hardworking 16 weeks, I obtained two certifications, the CompTIA ITF+ and the Google IT Support, and I am currently preparing for the CompTIA A+. I formed friendships with the best instructors and got to know my peers. NPower helped me network with volunteers and recruiters from tech companies. I also gained knowledge about popular topics or news in the IT industry and developed solid skills to work as an IT professional. This program gave me the confidence to make a career change and start another life… Go, NPower!!!

Before NPower, I had recently graduated high school and was looking into how to break into the tech industry. I discovered the NPower Tech Fundamentals Program while scrolling on Indeed and decided to apply—one of the best choices I have ever made. NPower has helped me obtain multiple certifications and also assisted me in job searching. After NPower, I hope to have a stable career in IT and eventually break into cybersecurity!

Prior to NPower, I wasn’t passionate about technology and had never thought of going into the field. In high school, I attended an amazing YMCA STEM weekend camp that taught how a company’s website functions. I dropped out of college in my first year and applied to Tesla, and I’m fortunately still there. I was introduced to NPower by a friend and decided to join because I thought it would be a great opportunity to gain the skills and certifications needed to enter the IT field. NPower built my confidence and motivation to pursue an IT career. With my new skills and ITF+ and Google IT Support Specialist certifications, I plan to move into the IT department at Tesla. I will also attend a software engineering program to further my education in coding and databases so I can become a software engineer.

I decided to join the U.S. Army as an infantryman after I did not succeed in college. I was not selfdisciplined. Upon completion of my contract, I returned to college, and the first semester had great grades because I had more discipline. Then the pandemic hit. I ended up seeking new career paths. With an interest in computer technology, I sought to learn more of the career paths of IT. I came across NPower, which promised live-feed instruction and applied. Before starting the program, I was already reading books to certify myself in CompTIA A+. The amount of information was daunting. In just a month, I passed the first exam, ITF+. I look forward to making ITF+ and A+ two of the many certificates I will obtain, but must thank NPower for giving me amazing resources and instructors to swiftly complete these certificates.

Prior to NPower, I was working at a retail company. After getting furloughed due to COVID-19, I was waiting for the moment they would open back up. However, that was not the case. The location where I was working shut down indefinitely, and I was let go. What brought me to NPower was a family member. My time at NPower showed me that I have valuable, transferrable skills and I was also exposing myself to new technology in my previous retail position. I was able to receive the CompTIA ITF+ certification, with the help of my instructors and teammates. I’ve built up my leadership skills, team working skills, resume writing, as well as hard and soft skills. I thank NPower for helping me through this journey in life that will carry me far in the future.

Prior to NPower, I served 12 years in the Army National Guard as an analyst, with several years of service in Iraq and Afghanistan. I also served in New York after the 9-11 attacks as a security guard and driver. I worked in several administrative positions where I noticed computer skills and IT literacy were crucial in order to stay relevant in the job market. I came into the NPower program with limited technical skills and left with the knowledge and experience to begin my IT career. Thanks to NPower and the onthe-job experience I gained from my internship, I am confident in my ability as an IT professional. I thank NPower for jumpstarting my career!

Prior to NPower, I was attending college when my father tragically passed away, leaving me feeling lost as I adjusted to navigating life on my own. I was working in the service industry, when I stumbled upon NPower on Indeed. I immediately felt a massive weight lifted off my shoulders! Through the informative instruction, professional development, working environment, and people I could rely on, I felt as if I had been given a second chance to carve my own path in the world of technology. With some hard work and selfbelief, I have learned many new skills. I thank NPower for providing me the education to obtain both CompTIA ITF+ and A+ certificates as well as any support I needed!

I was interested in an IT career but didn’t know where to start. After joining NPower, I have been given so many valuable resources and opportunities that I have already used to jumpstart my career. The instructors were supportive and helped me create a strong foundation in IT that goes beyond studying for the CompTIA certifications. The professional development team is great at helping us connect with industry professionals and assisting us with the resume and interview process. After obtaining my IT Fundamentals (ITF+ certification), I know that this is the right career for me. I could not have done it without NPower. I look forward to gaining experience in the IT field and furthering my knowledge to apply my skills in more advanced positions. I will apply for the cybersecurity program at NPower. Before NPower, I was a recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree in theater. However, due to the pandemic, there are fewer opportunities in the entertainment field. I decided that I couldn’t just wait for the world to open back up and needed to diversify my skillset. What drew me to NPower was the idea of demystifying the IT field that I previously found intimidating, as well as the possibility of acquiring a betterrounded skillset. Thanks to NPower and the help of its instructors, I obtained an extensive knowledge of the fundamentals of IT, obtained an ITF+ certification, and learned the hard and soft skills that go into my professional presentation. With my new skills, I plan to confidently enter the tech field and launch my career after my internship.

Before starting NPower, I was a stay-at-home mom due to my husband’s Army service and constant moving. After the Army, I had a hard time finding a career flexible enough to allow me to be able to take care of my son and continue my education. Fast forward some years and two more kids, my husband told me about a cool company called NPower. I was glad that military spouses were included because I have felt left out of opportunities. With little job experience, this sounded like the perfect opportunity! NPower gave me awesome instructors and the opportunity to learn and network in the IT field. I am excited to see what the future holds for this stay-at-home mother of three!

I was looking for a job online when I found NPower. I joined because I believed that becoming certified in IT, for free, seemed too good an opportunity to pass up. Before joining NPower, I was a biology major in college, so the NPower program was completely different from what I was already doing. I joined NPower to develop more skills and gain enough experience to try working in IT. It was well worth the experience. I now have a better idea as to what I can do for a profession.

Before starting NPower, I was working in an unfulfilling job with long hours, poor health and safety standards, and temporary work assignments. I have had a longstanding interest in technology and wanted to go to school after high school for computer science. I was searching online job boards when I came across NPower. I decided to join to make a career transition and knew this was just the program for me. With the networking, internship, mentorship, and certification training, this program has been a blessing. And everything was free! With my new skills and an IT Fundamentals (ITF+) certification, I look forward to launching a fulfilling career in technology and obtaining a fulltime position after my internship.

Growing up, I had an interest in technology and computing, which is why I declared my college major in computer science. I wanted to build a career in a field I love. I joined NPower at the end of the pandemic and the beginning of the new year with a head start, new skills, and knowledge. I wanted to learn how to work with systems and about all the nitty gritty aspects of technology. I would love to continue my education and pursue cybersecurity. This program gave me an opportunity to learn valuable skills. After many hours of studying and rereading questions, I am proud to say, I obtained my CompTIA ITF+ certification! Thank you, NPower— I could not have done it without the environment you created.

I was having difficulties finding a work environment that suited my interests. It was a constant struggle to find motivation and positivity in my work. I needed a change, and I needed it now. NPower helped me transition into a field that finally matches my passion for tech and people. The instructors set the bar high for quality instruction; their patience was extremely helpful during the more difficult parts of the course. On top of all that, the technical and interviewing skills I learned have made me confident enough to compete with the best in the business. I hope to continue my education in IT and work towards a career in internet security.

Before NPower, I was a college graduate struggling to find meaningful employment. The pandemic reduced the number of internships and job opportunities. This led me to start upskilling myself and seeking new possibilities, which brought me to NPower. I had been interested in computers and software, but I never received a formal education until I started Tech Fundamentals. We were taught from the ground up about computers, software, networks, and more, which helped to fill gaps in my knowledge. In addition to learning hard skills, NPower trainees also have guest speakers— an amazing opportunity to learn from people in the field. I hope to become an information security analyst. NPower has been an invaluable resource, and I am grateful to have had this opportunity.

Before NPower, I was busy raising my child and working as a restaurant manager. Even though I wanted to finish my education and look for a new job, I feared I’d never be able to go back to where I left off. Then my brother introduced me to NPower and suggested that I apply. It took courage as I was not sure whether I was ready to challenge myself to build my career again. NPower gave me not only knowledge in IT, but also a trust in myself that I can do it! All the support and motivation I received will never be forgotten. After graduation, I plan to apply for an internship to get hands-on experience.

Before NPower I was taking classes at a community college, planning to transfer to a four-year university with a great mechanical engineering program. I really wanted to start building technical experience, so one day I went to Indeed to search for internships. I was fortunate enough to come across NPower. I joined not realizing just how amazing the program would be! NPower helped me realize I can go far in the IT field. Before starting NPower, I lost my job due to the pandemic. I worked at UPS while I was getting my bachelor’s degree in management information systems. I had no idea how to navigate through the pandemic. Luckily, I found NPower, which gave me the structure needed to excel at what I was already good at. In the past three years I obtained six professional certifications, including the CompTIA ITF+ and CompTIA A+, with the hope of obtaining my CompTIA Security+. I would like to thank NPower not only for the skills and knowledge I obtained, but also for the networking opportunities and organizational resources.

Ever since I was young, I enjoyed tinkering with computer systems and building them for friends, which made me want to pursue a career in the information technology field. While in college, I became interested in network topologies and diagrams. In addition, I had the opportunity to work with networks and servers during my internship, which further sparked my interest. This pushed me to learn about the technology field through earning certificates such as CompTIA A+, along with growing as a person through NPower. I am grateful for the experience and have learned so much about the field in 16 weeks.

Once I completed my term in the military, I was unsure what to do for a career, but I knew I wanted my bachelor’s degree. I worked days in warehouse operations and attended night school and obtained my B.S. in business management. Career-wise I was doing okay, but I was still not satisfied. A friend from the military told me about NPower, 100% free! At first, I had my doubts, but I applied to see if it was legit. Sure enough, it is! I have always had an interest in technology, researching, and troubleshooting to figure out how things work. This was my opportunity to explore and achieve a fulfilling career, where it does not feel as if I am going to work, but rather, going to do what I love. I am truly thankful for NPower. “Career starters” is what I consider them to be, as they help young adults, veterans, and career changers achieve new beginnings!

I went through challenges, but I was determined to strive for my goals. I hope to start a software company before the age of 30, and with the skills I gained at NPower, I am able to work toward that goal. What brought me to NPower was my interest in the tech field and wanting to further my education. While I was at NPower, I accomplished many of my personal goals, such as gaining more knowledge and experience by working with others on technological projects. The program also helped me meet new people, and those new connections have proven to be very helpful. Lastly, I was able to obtain the certifications needed to enter this field. After graduation, I plan to continue my education by taking a cybersecurity class.

Before having an interest in IT, I worked with children who had learning and behavioral disabilities, using my psychology degree. Although I liked my job, I did not see myself growing in this field. I decided to pursue a career in IT and took prep classes for the necessary certifications. While taking the classes, I came across NPower on a web posting and immediately applied. I had recently become unemployed due to the pandemic and had begun job searching on Indeed and applying to different places. Not long after, I received a call from NPower saying they could help me transition into the tech field. I was excited! Not only did I like tech, but it also seemed to pay relatively well, at least much better than being an automotive detailer. Approximately 10 weeks after the start of class, I obtained two certifications—CompTIA ITF+ and Google IT Support. While I was still working on my A+ certification, I started applying for jobs, and received a job offer as a server room tech at Cisco. I will finish the A+ down the line, but right now, I hope to gain experience from my job, as it is the start of my journey into IT!

From teaching third graders block coding, completing data science boot camp, and learning networking administration while in the Marine Corps, I have been engrossed in technology. While searching for continued learning experiences and certifications to round out my experience, I joined NPower. In the online environment I’ve helped foster a learning and growth mindset with my peers. The connections I have made with other students, staff, and guest speakers have been invaluable. I would recommend anyone hesitant to join NPower to reach out to NPower now!

I was born in Nepal and came to U.S. in 2018. I always had a strong passion for technology but wasn’t sure how to turn my passion into a career. NPower has played a pivotal role in my life and has contributed to my technical and career development. The virtual professional development days have allowed me to see firsthand where skill, hard work, and dedication can lead. I loved my internship opportunity. NPower provided the necessary tools, knowledge, and experience to succeed in the IT field and life. Thanks to NPower, I now know that the key to my success has much to do with character, preparation, aptitude, and confidence. I look forward to obtaining additional certifications and pursuing a career in cloud computing as tech careers will be in high demand after this pandemic. I would like to thank NPower for this wonderful opportunity to better myself!

After transitioning from the military, I started working at the VA and then the Social Security Administration. I noticed that IT was important and could become a lifelong career for me. I enrolled in an associate’s degree in computer networking program. I enjoyed learning about computers, and I learned more about storing data, cabling, and cybersecurity. What I enjoyed most was learning to troubleshoot and fix problems. I graduated and completed an IT internship with the VA. I was referred to NPower by the Wounded Warrior Project. The Tech Fundamentals program helped prepare me for the entrylevel IT roles I was looking for. As this pandemic is coming to an end, I can see the doors opening. I have learned ways to navigate this field, get a job, and make my life more successful after the military.

Before starting NPower, I was going to college working on my associate’s degree and transfer credits. I had taken a semester off and was looking for internship opportunities on Indeed, which is how I found NPower. I decided to join because it seemed a good fit. I always want to get new skills, and NPower is helping me polish my skills and also build new ones. With the help of NPower, I got my ITF+ certificate, which will open new doors when I look for a job in my field. After I am done with my certificates, I want to go further in my studies and obtain a bachelor’s degree in computer science.

From an early age, I was enthusiastic I joined the U.S. Army two weeks about computers and technology. after graduating from high school. Before I joined the NPower program, I was working for Amazon as a night sorter, packing and unloading delivery trucks. I joined NPower to learn more about computers and how they operate so that I could build my own one day and possibly land a job. NPower helped me learn about WiFi connections. In the future, I hope to work for a gaming company like PlayStation or Microsoft to spread my ideas for the future of the industry.

Prior to NPower, I was running my own business, EHS PLANNING, INC., where I streamlined and offered multifaceted services in environmental health and safety for business-to-business. I’ve been in leadership roles for over 20 years and have managed up to 150 employees at a time. I worked alongside executive leadership teams, such as at the U.S. Marine Corps, NASA, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories, Tesla Motors Inc., Aero Space, and the Federal Government. I am looking to bring these skills to the IT field. I am embarking on my new path with NPower, taking online Tech Fundamentals classes and pursuing my CompTIA, A+. I hope to enroll in the cybersecurity course.

Before NPower, I was struggling to independently study A+ certification material. Once I joined NPower and the lectures began, I immediately felt the benefits of having a support system to motivate and inspire me to become a sharper tool that employers would see shining among others. Thanks to the help of the NPower team, I was able to become ITF+ certified. Further into the program, I began looking into joining the military due to a heart-to-heart conversation I had with a friend. Eventually, my now-wife and I spoke to a recruiter with the Air Force and decided to join. NPower lent me a helping hand during a time when I was questioning the person I should become. For that alone, I am extremely grateful!

Before I found NPower, I worked at a restaurant as a dishwasher. I had an interest in tech but felt intimidated to actually do anything, since I didn’t feel like I was smart or qualified enough. I found out about NPower through a friend who knew I wanted to go back to school for IT. I decided to join for two reasons: I wanted something to do, and I wanted to see if I could actually learn this kind of stuff. I have not only obtained my CompTIA ITF+ certification, but also the Google IT Support certification. After NPower, I hope to continue to learn, go back to school, and hopefully land a job in a small company or freelance as a developer.
