Prior to NPower, I had a career in legal services and was employed with the US courts. Due to frequent relocations, raising young children, and being a caretaker for a parent with a terminal illness, I was out of the workforce for 12 years. To be relevant in today’s workforce, I needed professional experience and training. I’ve always been interested in technology, especially in the education, healthcare, and government sectors. I heard about NPower via the Veterans Affairs newsletter. I am proud to have earned the Google IT Support certification and will obtain my ITF+ one. I’m grateful for the guidance, support, and encouragement from my instructors and staff. I hope to gain hands-on experience through an internship and then obtain full-time employment. Thank you, NPower, for providing me this unique opportunity to reenter the workforce!

When I was 10, my dream was to work with computers. My first computer was a TRS-80. I joined the Marines after high school and went into avionics. I then joined the Army as a nurse and had a tremendous impact on soldiers took care of in the burn unit. pursued my passion for technology by getting a master’s degree in health informatics, but it did not “fill my tank” of working in IT. Then I got an email from a veterans group about NPower. Of all the programs that I tried, NPower is the ONLY one that truly delivers. I earned my CompTIA, IT Fundamentals, and Google IT Support certifications and am pursuing my CompTIA A+ one. Eventually, I will get my CompTIA Network+ certification and become either a Cisco Certified network architect or go into cybersecurity.
I joined the US Army National Guard at 26 to serve my country and help my parents get their US citizenship. I obtained skills such as discipline, leadership, and a great understanding of logistics. After leaving the military I worked in a logistics company. But I wanted a change. I got an email from Work for Warriors offering NPower. I entered without any technical skills, and I can happily say I am leaving with an ITF certification and confidence that I can begin my career in an entry-level position in IT!

Before starting NPower, I worked a full-time job at the San Jose Conservation Corps. I was helping my mom financially as my dad left and guiding my four younger brothers. An awesome employee at the Corps introduced me to NPower. I decided to join and give it my best while balancing life as best I could. I just knew this was the program for me. With the networking, social support, mentorship, and certification training, this program has been a blessing, and everything was free! All I had to do was trust the process. With my new skills and my IT Fundamentals (ITF+) certification, look forward to launching my tech career and obtaining a full-time position!
Before joining NPower, I spent four years in the Air Force doing a job I didn’t enjoy. After that, I returned home and attended full-time college. Even though I had selftaught experience with computer technology, I lacked formal training or experience. I’ve learned more about technology while also being a part of a group of people from diverse backgrounds and similar aspirations. The material broadened my exposure to different tech jobs and helped me figure out the best field of work. I will work toward my BS in management information systems and pursue a career in data analytics and business intelligence. Without help from instructors and staff at NPower, I’d be going through school with no plan!
I retired from the US Army after 25 years and am unemployed. I grew up in the Bay Area and graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point. I’m looking to pivot from 15 years of military human resources experience into IT. Upon retirement, I began working on IT certifications, earning two CompTIA ones: IT Fundamentals and A+. Desiring to pursue a career in cybersecurity, I earned two advanced certifications: Network+ and Security+. My goal is to find an entry-level job in cybersecurity with a focus on network and infrastructure security and earn the CompTIA CYSA+ certification.

Before joining NPower, I served in the US Navy as a radar operator. After opting out of my contract, I worked various jobs and careers, from acting to executive protection. I learned about NPower through my former Navy recruiter’s social media page. He completed the program and highly recommended it. Being part of this program has deepened my tech knowledge and skills. I’ve bonded with fellow students; we helped each other out. So far, I have earned my ITF+, and Google IT Support and Project Management certificates. As I conclude the class by obtaining my A+ certificates, I plan to start from the ground in the tech industry and work my way up to a position of leadership.
Before I started NPower, I graduated high school with some knowledge of cybersecurity through classes. I was interested in working in IT but had no certifications. Finding a job was challenging; many opportunities require certifications or a degree in technology. Then I discovered NPower on LinkedIn. I came across a profile of an NPower student and saw that he secured a job in IT after completing this program. I felt the program would help me further my education and land my dream job. NPower was rewarding; I now have a Google IT Support certification and soon the IT Fundamentals one as well. This program has been a great stepping stone for me to enter the IT field and land my dream job as a cybersecurity analyst.
Before NPower, I devoted years to education, hoping to become a teacher. I was teaching abroad in Japan and returned right before the pandemic immobilized the world. As I reached out to friends, I realized many of them were in tech and working from home. I saw how balanced their lives were; I wanted that for myself. I searched online and found that NPower could provide me with training, certifications, and internship opportunities—all for free! It was very tough at the beginning—since I didn’t know much about computers or technology and had to balance going to class and working fulltime. However, after I passed the IT Fundamentals (ITF+) certification, I gained more confidence. Thanks to NPower, I can kickstart my tech career and obtain more certifications that will open doors to more job opportunities.

Before NPower, I enlisted in the Army and completed courses such as field sanitation. I was also awarded four achievement medals. The Army instilled in me a strong work ethic and taught me the importance of following practices, policies, procedures, and priorities. During my time with NPower, I demonstrated how determined am to succeed. NPower empowered me by offering resources, guidance, and knowledge. Prior to this program, my technology literacy was basic, mostly self-taught, using Google as my educational platform. NPower gave me tools and confidence I needed to pass the CompTIA ITF+ and Google IT Support and Project Management courses. With my new skills, I plan to find employment in the tech field and progress into a role in cybersecurity.
Before joining NPower, I had graduated with a degree in business administration. I tried to find jobs or opportunities where I could contribute to a business’s success but was lost while considering my options for a career path. I was doing a lot of thinking and dreaming without actually working towards a goal.
Then I was introduced to NPower through TikTok. After completing the program, I now have a clear vision of where I want to be and what I need to do to get there.
The program gave me a path to develop a career in the tech industry and the direction and focus that I lacked; I am confident in my ability to pursue a successful career in tech.
Prior to joining NPower, I served six years in the Navy. I received a message about NPower via email through the VA. I decided to join to fulfill my passion for technology. This program was intensive and thorough. The instructors were knowledgeable and displayed a talent for working in the IT field. I attained ITF+, Google IT Support, and A+101 certificates. My goal is to get a position in cybersecurity.
Prior to joining NPower, I spent 13 years as a logistical specialist in the Army. After active duty, I went to college for an associate's degree in cybersecurity. I knew that computer skills and literacy were essential to staying competitive in the employment market. While in class, I received an email from NPower, stating that they provide foundations of computer skills as well as computer hardware knowledge. I entered the program with some technical abilities and left with the knowledge and experience I need to start my IT career. Thank you, NPower, for kicking off my career!
Before this class I had no knowledge about tech. NPower taught me what I need to know in order to secure a job. I’m grateful for the opportunity and the awesome instructors who helped me along the way!

Prior to NPower, I completed a bachelor’s degree in business administration. After I graduated, I worked for the Puerto Rico government for two years, until I decided to join the US Army. My Army career took me to several countries and gave me long-lasting friendships. I retired after 23 years of service. I moved to the Bay Area and started to pursuing an associate’s degree in cybersecurity. I’m currently attending the NPower program; my goal is to find a job in the technology sector.

I completed a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in child development and philosophy. I realized that I did not have a clear vision of where I wanted to go with my career after college. As I explored options, I discovered NPower and learned more about the IT industry. After learning about NPower’s hands-on approach in terms of coursework, opportunities for professional development, and certification opportunities, I decided to enroll. This program allowed me to gain hands-on experience and has prepared me to pursue an entry-level role in IT.
My time at NPower gave me so much experience and knowledge. I learned skills to help me progress in a positive manner. There are two sections to NPower, an IT side teaching all the technical fundamentals and the professional development side showing me how to get prepared to enter the field. This opportunity allowed me gain certifications through completing the Google Coursera course and earning the IT certificate. There were great experiences with guest speakers from different backgrounds. Hearing their experiences and how they want to always improve themselves will always stay with me as I strive to enter the IT field.
Prior to entering NPower, I had a general interest in the IT field. However, I was working in a completely different field that allowed little time and finances to further my education. I thought it would be impossible to transition to IT as an entirely new career path. Then, I stumbled across NPower in a VA news source at my doctor’s office. My mother had recently been diagnosed with cancer and begged me to make sure I was seen by a doctor as a precaution. I begrudgingly went, but am glad I did. Although she passed during the time of this cohort, I wouldn’t be in NPower if it was not for her concern over my health. NPower has unlocked the next step to my future career in IT. The instructors are well versed in their field, and I really enjoy their teaching techniques. They are a huge part of my current educational success. As my studies progress and I make strides in achieving my IT Fundamentals certification, I understand there are many different directions I can take. My passion for IT and my confidence to transition forward have been unlocked!
Prior to NPower, I had little technical or professional experience. I loved working with computers and video games but wasn’t sure how I could transfer those skills into a career. NPower helped me explore my options for professional fields and expand my soft skills. The teaching approaches made comprehending the program material manageable; I knew I could always communicate with the NPower team in any areas I was struggling with. I am thankful for the support from all the staff, especially the social support manager who helped me navigate difficult situations. After NPower I will continue to develop my technical skills and pursue a professional IT career where I can grow in the years to come.
I am currently a full-time student completing my bachelor’s degree in business marketing. I noticed jobs I am interested in require some degree of technologyoriented skills, so I researched tech programs. I discovered NPower and watched some videos from alumni and was inspired by their stories to apply. My instructors have been amazing from day one; they consistently encourage the trainees. I completed my Google Coursera certification and will soon obtain my CompTIA ITF+ one. I have had to master balancing my life. The professional development course provided the opportunity to learn strategies to implement in our daily lives to support success. I am excited about the next step in my journey as I begin my IT career.
Before NPower, I was a Marine veteran who operated a business in the private security industry. I endured successes and failures, including losing jobs and contracts during the pandemic. What brought me to NPower was my need to start a new career to build financial stability. I was interested in cybersecurity because I completed few programming classes online. However, I didn’t know where to start. I was introduced to NPower through Work for Warriors. Through NPower, I was able to get my CompTIA ITF+, Google IT, and Program Management certifications. The support level and services from instructors and the professional development team was beyond amazing. I built networks with peers of diverse backgrounds and experiences, met professionals and mentors in the cybersecurity field, and created a professional online resume. After graduation, will continue my education and training, ideally with NPower. With my new skills and certifications, I plan to obtain a job in the field and continue to build my experience.

Since joining NPower, I have earned Google’s IT Support certificate, as well as CompTIA’s IT Fundamentals+ and A+ certifications.
Prior to joining NPower, I was stuck working jobs where I would not be able to grow without a college degree. I wasn’t passionate about the work and was not inclined to pursue higher education. At that time, I moved from job to job with no sense of direction. I joined NPower after hearing about the program on social media; it was one of my best decisions ever! Before NPower, I was attending college and pursuing a degree in design. However, as I was completing the coursework, I realized that this wasn't the field I wanted to pursue. I always loved working with computers and wanted to troubleshoot problems. This interest led me to the NPower Tech Fundamentals Program. I heard about this in my counseling course during my first years at college. I hopie to develop a good skillset that will help me gain employment in a well-known tech company so that I can have a successful career and a financially stable future.
I joined the US Navy as a missile technician. Once I was out of the military, I attended college for a computer science degree while working at FedEx ground as a package handler and operations manager. I was in an automotive accident and felt like everything started falling apart. I struggled to keep a job and ended up leaving college without a degree. After losing my job and nearly ending up homeless, a VA social worker gave me a link to NPower. I realized this was my opportunity to fulfill my desire to get into the computer science field. Attending this program allowed me the opportunity to learn many technical skills, such as technical troubleshooting, identifying computer hardware and software, and mastering various electronic devices. I am pursuing a career in cybersecurity. NPower gave me a second chance to significantly turn my life around and continue to pursue a tech career.
I recently migrated to the US from Afghanistan and wanted to resume my pursuit of an IT career. I had taken some IT classes in Afghanistan before getting a job as a flight attendant. While working in this field, I was unable to continue my studies and consistently practice my skills. Through the International Refugee Committee, I discovered NPower and decided to resume my pursuit of a tech career. My experience has been rewarding and fulfilling. The program provides a good foundation in IT skills under the guidance of professional and supportive instructors. I also benefited from the professional development seminars. I completed my CompTIA ITF+ and Google IT Support certificates and will have my CompTIA A+ and Google Project management ones soon. I plan to pursue Network+ and CCNA routing and switching. My goal is to obtain an entry-level network technician job to get my foot in the door of an IT career.

NPower gave me the confidence to be a professional in the field of technology. Not only did they provide me with the knowledge and resources to develop a new career, but they also gave me the professional development to actually communicate and rely on my peers for help. I am able to understand what makes my computer run, what makes it break down, and how to fix it when it does. I learned that my peers want to help me and also rely on me for help, all thanks to the professional development classes that provided a space to expand ourselves professionally as a team. I have a four-year degree and I have never had anyone so involved and excited to help me be career- ready! I greatly appreciate their hard work, dedication, and compassion for students.
Before NPower, I was struggling to find an affordable education to get my certifications for IT. I completed my bachelor’s degree in a field that I no longer wanted to pursue. After making that investment, it was not affordable to go back to school to pursue my interest in IT. I wasn’t sure what to do until two bosses at my old job introduced me to NPower. I was able to get the education for my ITF+ and Google IT Support — for free! I am working on my A+ and Google Project Management certifications. With my certifications, I can pursue a new career path and have more clarity about where I aspire to be in life. My instructors are very supportive and knowledgeable in their instruction and also in supporting trainees’ success.
I was born in Afghanistan, where I completed my high school and college education. During my high school studies, I took some computer courses, including MS Office, as well as courses in English as a Second Language. I became a computer lecturer as my first job. Though was nervous at first, my supervisor encouraged me to embrace the opportunity. I found this work rewarding and began my college studies in IT. I was close to completing my bachelor’s degree when the Afghanistan government fell, and I relocated to the US. It was difficult to start a new life in a foreign country. However, I have been fortunate to meet kind, supportive people. I also resumed my college studies and am working in social services as a computer lab technician. NPower has been very positive as deepened my tech knowledge and skills, connected with a network of people who helped me grow, and explored roles and pathways that a career in IT offers. I learned it is important to never lose hope and to always believe in myself!

Before I heard of NPower, I always dreamed about the tech industry. My dreams came true when I was informed about NPower. I acquired many skills due to amazing instructors. I emerged as a qualified candidate for IT support roles and many more. During my professional development days, I received intensive training on interview skills, work ethics, and relationshipbuilding in the workplace. I gained experience working in teams, as well as solo. I am confident in pursuing a career in my dream field. I look forward to obtaining more certifications. I would like to thank everyone for their hard work helping me achieve my goals!
Prior to NPower, I was losing hope and started to think that I may have made a mistake by changing my career path from mortgage to cybersecurity due to many job requirements asking for two years of experience. I completed my bachelor's degree in cybersecurity with a concentration in network defense but lack hands-on experience. I heard about NPower through the Wounded Warrior Project and learned about the miraculous opportunities and resources. NPower has played a pivotal role in my life and has contributed to my technical and career development. I learned so much from our instructors and was able to connect the dots. I am also thankful for the professional development team for their assistance helping build my confidence and showing how to promote myself.
Before NPower, I graduated from San Jose State University with a BS in software engineering. I had no work experience and was not ready with my current knowledge or confidence to apply for a tech job. I was introduced to NPower by a contact from a similar organization I’m part of called Braven, a nonprofit that helps college students transition from college to jobs. In my time at NPower, I gained more than expected. I got my IT certificates and gained in-depth knowledge of CompTIA A+. I found a community and resources I never had. I also gained confidence in my abilities. With my new skills, I plan to apply to positions not only in software but also in IT, and someday even UX design.

Before starting with NPower, was working with Tampa Fire Rescue while serving in the Army Reserve. I loved my job but never had time for my real dreams and aspirations — to build financial freedom and travel. During my military service, I met many people and grew my professional skillset by being placed in the signal unit and starting to work with technology. Inspired by my new love for technology, I researched career opportunities in tech. Via TikTok, I discovered a video of an NPower student talking about this program. I was excited to learn that the program allowed the flexibility in schedule I needed and would prepare me for getting certified in Google IT support, COMPTIA A+, and ICU 60 IT Fundamentals. I started this program with minimal skills and knowledge and am finishing with a strong foundation in technology. The support from the instructors and professional development team helped keep me stay the course and prepared me for an entry-level IT position.
When I enrolled in the ITF course, I had no idea what to expect. I remember telling my mom that I wanted to switch careers and that there was this great opportunity for me to do that. My mother told me that it would be hard given my work schedule. I told her that I would somehow make it work — and I did! It was not easy, but I made it work. There was time where I wanted to give up, but the team reminded me that everyone is in their own path, which gave me some relief because I felt that I was falling behind. I am looking forward to what life has in store for me!
NPower gave me a great opportunity to build current, marketable job skills. My background is in corporate finance and accounting. I have a B.S. in accounting and an MBA in finance. In between those degrees, I was on active duty in the Navy for five years, earning the Southwest Asia Service Medal for Gulf War deployment. I lived in Japan for six years, starting with the Navy and ending as an English teacher. After earning an MBA, I worked for large corporations for ten years, principally as a staff accountant, senior financial analyst, and business analyst. But that ended more than 10 years ago. For the last ten years, I have been self-employed as a children’s tutor, while tending to family obligations. I seek full-time employment. I am optimistic that my current IT training, from outstanding instructors at NPower, will effectively leverage my prior experience for a successful employment search.

I was born and raised in Egypt, a country with a poverty rate of 85% and limited access to healthcare, education, and basic human rights. The climate became increasingly violent. Fortunately, my family and I were able to escape when I was 18. I consider myself blessed to have the chance to come to the United States to live in a safer environment and pursue my education. I enrolled earned a B.S. in biology and business; it was hard as a first-generation graduate to transition from college to the workforce. took a job as a substitute teacher and a salesman for Cutco Knives, where I went door to door. became interested in a career in IT and began taking courses on Coursera. NPower opened up a door for me to learn about different tools in tech. I obtained my Google IT and Product Management certifications. I am preparing to take the CompTIA ITF+ exam. Through the weekly professional development sessions, I learned to develop my resume and practiced interview skills. I hope to get an entry-level job as an IT technician or as a front web developer. I’d like to volunteer in the NPower program.
Prior to NPower, I was just cruising in my current job since I was not really interested in the next available promotion. It was a supervisor role with no pay increase. I had already advanced in one of the highest roles as a vendor for Waymo and decidedit was time to pursue a new goal. This prompted me to look into new skills that I could develop, and IT seemed like a great option. I found out about NPower while researching programs like YearUp. NPower taught me technical skills, helped me develop professional skills through LinkedIn and resume writing workshops, and prepared me for IT certifications. After graduation, I plan to use the knowledge and skills I have gained to begin a career in IT.
Prior to NPower, I was a college senior working on my bachelor’s degree in kinesiology. However, I found myself discovering a new passion for computers and technology during the pandemic. I was hesitant to switch careers as I was about to graduate, but I decided to follow my passion. With countless hours of hard work and dedication, NPower provided vital resources that shaped me into the IT professional I am today. Other than my CompTIA ITF and Google IT Support certifications, I will obtain additional certifications and pursue a career in Cloud. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity that NPower has given me.

Before NPower, I had a fancy degree but was in a field that was competitive with little to no pay. As my family grew, I wanted a career that would pay more than the cost of childcare. began to teach myself coding languages and soon realized I needed more structure and mentors. I talked to veterans who had participated in tech training and had wellestablished careers. I received a VA email with a description of NPower! It was exactly what I needed. I love the support and training. The teaching and support staff are incredible. I earned my CompTIA IT Fundamentals and Coursera Google IT Support certificates. I am preparing to take the CompTIA A+ exams and am excited to begin a new career with the foundation that NPower has provided!
Before NPower, I was fascinated by computers. It wasn’t until I moved over into Macintosh computers that things started to get interesting. During my 11 years at Apple, Inc. I discovered just what computers are. It stirred up something inside me even more when I ran into problems and couldn’t figure out how to troubleshoot. We had an IT team that took care of that. That’s when I realized maybe that’s what I wanted to do. The company offered tuition reimbursement, but I just couldn’t find the time to fit school into my work schedule. I opted to learn what I could from YouTube videos. More than 20 years passed, and I decided to make it happen —get my certificates and be an official IT professional. NPower has been a step forward!
After attending junior college and realizing my athletic career had come to an end, I had to decide what career path to take. I’ve always been interested in technology, and the opportunity NPower provides allowed me to pursue a passion besides sports. I envision my future career leading toward becoming a software developer. am a firm believer that one should love their job. NPower provided me that opportunity by helping me earn my Google IT Support certificate. The sky is the limit!
I joined the Navy straight out of high school. College didn’t appeal to me then; I wanted to travel. Upon my return, I used the GI Bill to attend college. However, shortly after my graduation, the pandemic hit. The job environment changed, and I knew I had to change with it. Luckily, I received an email from the VA about a free program, NPower; it completely changed my life as it offered a way to get into the IT industry with little to no experience. The staff is wonderful, and the study material is easy to understand. I have no regrets and wish I had known about this program sooner!
Prior to NPower, I got my bachelor’s degree. My career interest in college was social work. I began my career with the Department of Social Service, but the hourly pay rate was not up to my expectations. No one taught me that negotiating is an important aspect of working. I found NPower through TikTok and immediately applied. This 16-week program changed my life because I never thought I could learn technology. I have achieved my Google IT Fundamental certificate, networked with recruiters and peers, made a LinkedIn profile, and learned to negotiate. I would love to work in project management because of the new challenges.

Before NPower, I was studying for two certifications. I wanted to break into IT because I found technology very interesting after I built a gaming PC. However, I felt I was hitting a wall after taking the Security+ twice and the A+ once. I spent $800 on vouchers and study material but still failed the tests. I was discouraged; then my wife found NPower on social media. I was skeptical until I met the NPower associates. They were professional and answered all my questions. I took the ITF course and now I have my Google IT Support and CompTIA Fundamentals certifications! I’m working on Microsoft 365 and Azure certifications. After I graduate, I plan to take another NPower course and get certified in cloud computing and security.
Before NPower, I was working as a cook, living paycheck to paycheck. I wanted to return to school, but it was difficult with two kids. I found NPower through the internet and decided to jump in with everything I had — I had nothing to lose! Throughout the program, I experienced difficult times and was pushed out of my comfort zone. I trusted the process and anticipated the satisfaction of pushing myself to reach my goal. I’m thankful to be walking away with new skills, certifications, and wonderful new friends, headed on a path towards my first tech job.
Before NPower, I was curious about tech, but as a beginner, I didn’t know where to start and lacked the financial resources to enter the industry. I saw a recommendation for NPower online and thought it was an opportunity to explore IT. I built fundamental knowledge of tech support backed up by certifications from CompTIA ITF+, Microsoft, and Google. NPower gave me a community of colleagues, mentors, and friends to support me as I travel down this road. After graduation, I plan to dive deeper into tech by starting a master’s program in data science.

Prior to starting NPower, I was closing my wilderness survival training businesses because of the pandemic. I was concerned about my future. At 58, making a career change is daunting. As I searched for veteran training resources, I came across NPower. The opportunity and NPower core values met my standards. Being free for veterans was also attractive. I have had a great time in this program. I learned about the fundamentals of IT and key concepts needed for my career change. In addition to the technical certifications, I enjoyed the professional development. I have a new level of confidence and fully expect that NPower will be a significant reason for my success!
I joined the Navy after high school to pursue my career in cryptology and follow my family’s legacy in technology. Due to unfortunate circumstances, I terminated my contract to leave the military and pursue a career in the food industry. got three Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medals and two Sailor of the Year awards and completed my contract and was ready to return to the civilian sector and pursue my passion for tech. Through emails from the Veteran’s Association, I found NPower; at first, I thought it seemed too good to be true. The instructors have been so helpful, and career development days shaped me to become a savvy professional. I have been blessed with this opportunity and highly recommend anyone interested in tech to take advantage of all NPower offers. I landed a job at Space X as a tech support for Starlink!
I served in the Army for 13 years working in automated logistics. deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. I’ve had the opportunity to work in different areas, from being a parts manager at a motor-pool and material control at a warehouse, to procurement in support operations and other duties as a marksmanship instructor. After being medically discharged during the pandemic, I decided to become a stay-at-home dad while supporting my wife through college. I had applied to a veteran internship when I received an email from the VA about NPower. I’m glad this program exists for veterans going through a career change. The instructors are outstanding in providing the knowledge and professional development assistance to help me achieve the career I want.

DANIEL CORONADO U.S. ARMY
LINO DIAZ U.S. ARMY
Prior to NPower, I served 10 years in the Army National Guard as a field artillery officer. Simultaneously, I worked in customer service and management positions to gain experience in project management. Completing my master's degree in business administration with a focus on project management, I discovered NPower through the Work for Warrior veteran program. I realized NPower met my needs to broaden my portfolio and develop computer skills and literacy to stay relevant. I started NPower without any knowledge or experience in IT and am leaving the 18-week program credentialed and prepared to be an IT professional. I will be starting my project manager position at Walmart. I give all credit to NPower for setting the conditions up for my success!
Before NPower, I was struggling to find a job. I graduated with a B.S. in information systems and almost got a job with Disney in March 2020. The position was cancelled as were the other positions I applied for — because of COVID. I applied to Veterans Affairs Voc-Rehab; everything they promised fell through. I decided to be proactive and look for an organization to help me. I found NPower. They delivered everything they said they would: free education and certification to help get my foot in the door; interview coaching; connecting with companies; and job opportunities. It also provided me with a community to look forward to seeing every day. I gained relevant certificates at no cost. After graduation, will be better prepared to enter the workforce!
Prior to NPower, I served nine years in the Army. My training as a logistics specialist landed me a career in the transportation industry. After 11 years in a career that I didn’t enjoy, it was time for something new. I found NPower on a military flyer. I’ve loved computers since childhood, so I was excited and eager to learn. NPower allowed me to achieve major certifications by overcoming my doubts that I could ever succeed in the tech industry. Thanks to the amazing staff and peers, I was able to meet my goals. After graduation, I plan to leave the transportation industry for a career in tech. My ideal job will allow me to grow while enjoying what I do, as well as provide for my family.
NIGEL JOHNSON
DONG YOONG STEVE KWAK U.S.
MARINE CORPSSHANTEL M. LORITA U.S. ARMY
Prior to NPower, I served eight years in the Marines as a small arms repair technician. I received an honorable discharge and then worked a contracting job as a precision weapons technician while I pursued a college education. I graduated with a B.S. in business focusing on financial planning. I lost my job when the contract position expired. NPower caught my attention, but I dismissed it as unreal. After going through the interviewing, I realized all NPower wanted in return was my time and dedication. The learning experience has been fantastic, and the instructors are great. The professional development was a huge benefit, especially when it came to resume writing and LinkedIn profile setup. One month before graduating, I secured a job at Tourmaline Enterprises Inc. as technical support specialist!
Before NPower, I was part of the great resignation due to the pandemic. Thanks to NPower, I turned a negative situation into a new opportunity. With the generous opportunities for veterans, I was able to start and choose a career I really wanted!
I earned industry certificates, such as CompTIA ITF+, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Azure, and job market insights through professional development class.
I’m excited and feel confident about starting my new career as an IT support professional with the tools under my belt.
I enlisted in the Army at 19 and specialized in construction engineering. Growing up on a small island, I wanted to see what the world had to offer and gain some life experience. After the military, I worked as a caregiver and went to school and became a licensed vocational nurse. I worked many years at this and felt it was time for a career change. I came across NPower through an email. Although I have no prior experience in IT, I figured this would be a field I'd like to learn more about. It’s the best decision I've made! The staff are very supportive. The instructors are great and provide you with the tools needed to succeed. I've learned so much, not only from the NPower staff but also from my classmates. I’m grateful to be a part of such an amazing program!

ROBERT TELEY MARKS
After finishing my undergraduate studies, I had no idea what the future held. I didn’t find employment in my field and ended up working in the food industry as a temporary means to support myself. At the start of the pandemic, I was working two jobs to help my family. This was mentally and physically exhausting. I found TikTok videos about a free program to enter the tech field. I decided to take a chance, mostly because the program was free, and I wanted to break into tech. With no prior technical experience, I was able to succeed and earn industryrecognized certificates. With my new skills, I plan to continue my education in cloud computing and secure a career in IT.
Before Starting NPower, I was in high school without any real qualifications for a good job. I had a college degree to look forward to, but no real alternative. I also had no credentials or professional experience. I saw a flyer in my school's halls for a program to help me get a career in tech, so I applied. NPower helped me by providing free IT training and professional development. I learned the importance of networking and professionalism and was even able to get a few certificates to show employers down the line. I now have an alternative if college doesn’t work out and a valuable experience which will forever change my life. After graduation, I hope to get a good job as I work for my degree and afterwards use my skills to get a job where I can support my family.
Prior to NPower, I was unemployed and had been turned down from veterinary schools, leaving me uncertain as to next steps. I was introduced to NPower by my husband. I was hesitant since I had no experience in tech, but I was in search of transitioning careers. What better than a free program that prepares you with the tools needed to do so? At NPower, I was able to prepare for the certification exams, develop professional skills, construct an appealing resume, practice interviewing, and even get handson experience as a call agent during the program. With my new skills, I plan to kick off my career as an IT professional and continue my career development.
CELESTE NUNES
FRANTZ ORISTE U.S. MARINE CORPS
ERIC PLATERO U.S. AIR FORCE
Before starting NPower, I was attending university and working part-time, confused about what career to pursue or the steps to take after graduating college.
During my third year of university, I heard about opportunities that technology has to offer. This interested me enough to change my major from sociology into something like software engineering. However, this required me to start school all over when I was already so close to graduating with my sociology degree. That is when my mentor introduced me to NPower. The opportunity to learn all the IT skills and be given further instruction on my professional development fit so perfectly during this time in my life! Thanks to NPower I have the ability to combine the skills from the current degree I am pursuing and the new tech skills and certifications from NPower.
After active duty, I began working as a contractor for the Marine Corps. As the years passed, it became more difficult because the position is not offered in the area close to my family’s preferred location. A friend referred me to NPower, and the program aligned perfectly with my goals. However, my skepticism grew when I read the program was free — which turned out to be true! NPower exceeded all expectations. After obtaining five certificates (ITF+, Google IT Fundamentals, MS-900, Azure Certificate and Python Basic), accompanied by a robust integrated professional development session, I am excited about the future.
What brought me to NPower was a strong desire to shift careers.
Prior to NPower, I had worked in the fast-food industry and had recently transitioned from the Air Force to civilian life. I knew a career change would be good. While searching for programs, I stumbled across a VA newsletter.
Once at NPower, I was able to expand my professional and technical skills and had assistance in resume writing, practice interviewing, and having a mentor. I am more than confident that I can hone my skills to become a more competitive applicant in today’s workforce. I hope to take my networking skills into my scholarly endeavors so I may engage with people of equal or greater ambitions. I also thank NPower for allowing me to broaden my horizons and meet spectacular individuals.
FRANCISCO ROSALES
Prior to NPower, I had been working at a small family job with little sense of where I wanted to take my career. I took an online course through Harvard EdX. I searched online for courses, and that's when I found NPower.
Since I've started NPower, I have learned so much information, not just on technology but professional information. also learned about myself. NPower has made a safe space to network, explore the tech industry, and meet people who would like to see you succeed regardless of your point in life, which has been a blessing. On top of the benefits, such as getting certifications, it has been free — which is very rare. Now I feel confident in my future, with my new skills and certifications. I After NPower, I’d love to start an internship and continue my education
Before NPower, I was working at a dead-end job and wanted something better. I wanted to go to school but didn’t want to be in debt since I was already struggling to make ends meet.
A family member introduced me to NPower, and I decided that I needed a career change. It was the best decision I’ve ever made! The program provided me with the necessary tools, knowledge, and mentorship to succeed in the IT world and in life. This program has been a game changer; without this great opportunity I would still be in a dead-end job. I look forward to getting more certifications and improving my skills. I thank NPower for this amazing opportunity to better myself!
Before NPower, I was climbing the corporate ladder, working for Fortune 100 companies, but wasn’t happy. I have always been passionate about technology, but thought it was too late. I left college and six years passed. I thought I was going to be in corporate America forever. When scrolling through TikTok, I found a free tech program called NPower. It was for veterans and young adults trying to break into tech without having to go back to college. It was perfect. I was hesitant because nothing in America is free, but I was wrong. I’m glad I was because this program has really changed my life. I’ve never been as motivated and driven as I am today! NPower not only empowered me to chase after my dreams, they gave me the tools and training to achieve them. Three certifications later and I got a job as a help desk technician.

Prior to NPower, I served six years of active duty in the Navy as an avionics technician. After active duty, I started my career in the Postal Service as a mail handler. I was later promoted to supervisor and then manager. was interested in tech and wanted to get more information about the field.
During my research, I came across NPower and decided to explore the program. After further investigation, I discovered that the training program was exactly what I was looking for and more. I came into the program wanting to change my career. I received my CompTia+ ITF and MS 900 certifications.
Thanks to NPower, I was hired at Zoox as an advance software testing tech.
Prior to NPower, I was struggling to find a career due to the pandemic. After coming across NPower on social media, I applied in order to develop my skills and make a transition into tech. Being new to tech has had its difficult moments, but I am extremely thankful for the team who supported me every step of the way! Throughout both the IT Fundamentals and professional development classes, I gained the necessary tools, knowledge, and confidence to succeed. I’m extremely excited to start this new career path as an IT support specialist or data analyst!
Prior to NPower, I had been given a few opportunities in finance. I am grateful for these opportunities because they provided me with a professional skillset and lifelong relationships, but I had hit a wall. The growth opportunities were stagnant. Then, the pandemic hit, and I financially struggled. I was unfulfilled and unhappy. However, during undergrad I was introduced to IT. I worked in a technical call center and enjoyed certain facets of this. A friend who is a system administrator for NASA told me about his journey in IT and credited NPower. He spoke so highly of his experience that I felt compelled to join. My experience has been amazing! They provide you with the technical and professional skillset needed to kickstart your tech career. Now that I have obtained my CompTIA ITF+, I look forward to starting my forever career in tech.
Before NPower, I served eight years of active duty in the Navy as an expert assault boat coxswain and electronic technician. After my discharge, I worked several jobs and developed an interest in IT and attended several colleges and trade schools. heard about NPower from a presenter at a veteran job fair. Thanks to NPower, I have received five IT certifications and am working on getting two more before completing the program. I look forward to the NPower internship to put the theory to work!
Before NPower, I worked in customer service and sales for 12 years, I’ve always had an interest in technology, but I wasn’t sure where to start. The pandemic created space to get the much-needed training to transition careers into the everevolving and growing IT field. NPower was the opportunity to explore and narrow my interest in IT. In the intense training course, I gained IT knowledge and virtual training essential to developing a fundamental foundation in IT. Obtaining my CompTIA ITF+ certification has given me confidence to transition seamlessly into the media industry. After graduation, I plan to continue adding certifications and with my new skills pursue a career in visual effects.
Before NPower, I had transitioned from attending college to moving back home and attending community college due to financial pressures. I wanted time to see what I planned to do after college. While searching the internet for programs and internships to help build my resume and skill set, I found NPower. I decided to join to learn skills and gain knowledge in IT — a concept which is completely new to me. I was introduced to helpful staff who encouraged us to learn. I earned the CompTIA fundamentals (ITF+) certification and look forward to using the technical and professional development skills I learned. I’m joining a college program called College Corps which has open IT help desk positions for college students.

Before NPower, I was working at Starbucks and trying to figure out what to pursue career-wise. I wasn’t sure if a four-year college was the right choice. I graduated with an associate's degree and received honors, but I didn’t like the college system. I was torn between going to college and finding a job to support myself. I was scrolling through social media and saw two people explaining NPower. It seemed too good to be true. I applied, thinking maybe this is the program that I’ve been looking for — and it was! This program has supported me, given me mentoring, and prepared me for certificates that I never imagined having. I’m ready to start my career!

LAUNCHING TECH CAREERS. TRANSFORMING LIVES.
NPower’s model is a solution to building a diverse tech pipeline. Our graduates launch tech jobs with an average starting salary of $41,000–$60,000 and are positioned to advance their career path, enabling them to earn more than their peers in lower-wage jobs. Higher earning potential is the key to breaking generational cycles of poverty, positioning our students and their families to achieve long-term economic success.
WE ARE THE FUTURE OF WORK
Through partner and tech industry collaboration, our free training model is a workforce development solution for the future. In today’s economy, over 50% of all jobs require some degree of technology and digital skill. We prepare untapped, diverse talent to fill the number of technology-oriented jobs that will increase in the U.S. to 13 million by 2025, according to a recent Microsoft Data Science report that estimates that digital job capacity. Our graduates of over 4,000 veterans and young adults are hired at over 2000 companies and nonprofits as interns and full-time employees.
NPower is on a mission to create pathways to economic prosperity by launching digital careers for young adults and military veterans from underserved communities. Part of this goal is our ‘40 by 22’ initiative, which aims to advance more young women of color in tech careers. This initiative is supported by the Citi Foundation’s Pathways to Progress initiative.
