NPower has given me the resources and knowledge to pursue a thriving career. Before I began this program, I wanted to find a career in IT. My life had many unexpected roadblocks, and NPower led me to a new path. Searching for a way to further my career and go back to school, I found Tech Fundamentals. It was exactly where my life had been leading; it soon became my top priority. The courses were interactive and provided a team environment, despite the COVID inconveniences. During COVID, I lost my job and was struggling financially. By choosing to rely on my support system I have been given the space to make NPower my focal point. After graduation, I plan to take these skills to further my future in IT, employed at Amazon.
Before I joined NPower, I was working as a shift supervisor for CVS; before that I was in the U.S. Air Force. I decided to leave my job at CVS. It was time to move on. I did not want to be trapped in retail all my life. My sister recommended NPower to me after I told her that I had an interest in IT. I learned so much from Tech Fundamentals. I plan to continue my growth in IT, whether it be on-the-job training or going back to school to get my bachelor’s degree in IT.
Before NPower, I was in college going to get my degree but wanted to take a break and focus on training that would lead to a career. What brought me to NPower? I wanted to become financially stable, not a broke college student who works in retail. My time at NPower helped me learn new skills and also get some experience with a variety of things. After graduation, I plan to get a better-paying job that I enjoy and also continue with my education.

Before NPower, I was a salesman for BMW cars, making a decent living. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, I was left unemployed and helpless. I decided to take action and turn a negative situation into a positive one. The following quote came to mind: “You don’t know who you are until you’ve faced real adversity.” With no experience or background in IT, I searched for a job in tech. This is when I found NPower. This program has helped me gain the keys to a successful career— professional development, learning through real-world situations, and sharpening my interview skills. I plan to complete my ITF and Security+ certifications. I would like to thank NPower for this wonderful opportunity to better myself and my community!
TYMON BLOW 23 ANNAPOLIS, MD
Before NPower, I served in the U.S. Air Force as a security forces specialist. I came to NPower because I wanted to further my career and obtain tech skill sets in this fast-changing technological world. Tech Fundamentals introduced the basics of IT and gave me a good understanding of what will be covered in the A+ and additional support courses. After graduation, I will do an internship with a company and implement what I have learned and apply it during on-the-job training. Eventually, I want to combine my knowledge and experience and work full-time for a job that pays well and makes me happy.

Before I became a student at NPower, I was a full-time worker with a side hustle, programming firesticks, as the only provider in my house. What brought me to NPower was my passion to learn IT. I found out about the program by applying for jobs and IT programs. NPower stood out. What I liked most about the program is that it showed my strengths and weaknesses not just in IT, but in life. What I learned about myself is that I have resilience as I dealt with roadblocks outside of school. I had to think about my son and the prize at the end, which was a better future. After Tech Fundamentals, I plan to further my education and get into cybersecurity.

Before Tech Fundamentals, I was a high school student aspiring to be in technology. One day I was getting ready for school and my grandma told that the NPower program would be there. I was really interested in the professional development aspect. I loved the environment in Tech Fundamentals; there was competition and rivalry. It was positive and challenged me to be better. It was a great experience to meet people who wanted to see me succeed. Along with learning tech fundamentals, I learned how to be better in the business world, to be professional, and to further develop myself to get hired. After graduating, I would like to further my education by obtaining a degree in cybersecurity.

Before NPower, I was a student at Morgan State University majoring in information systems. I had an idea of a career path, but I was very unclear. I found out about NPower while looking for different internships and opportunities that would help me get experience. Joining NPower helped me learn skills and further my knowledge about technology. Learning about databases helped me to discover that I want to go down the path of data analytics. I discovered that there are other people just like me. NPower has helped me to build relationships and improve my communication skills.

Before NPower I was working at M&T Bank, feeling as though the walls were closing in. Although it wasn’t a bad position, I knew I was capable of more. That’s when NPower entered the picture. This program has been nothing short of a complete blessing, from the genuine staff who go above and beyond to make sure the students are cared for in any capacity. I knew if I sacrificed the time necessary to focus on the program, the results would speak for themselves. I’m just happy I stayed the course!

Before NPower, I had just gotten out of the military and was adjusting to being a new mother. What bought me to NPower was an ad on Indeed.com. I chose Tech Fundamentals because it was required to join the cybersecurity program. My time at NPower has given me new-found knowledge, hands-on training, and great networking opportunities. The thing I like most is learning new skills and the chance to test those skills. I faced and overcame challenges in balancing school, the program, being a mother, and working part-time. After graduation, I plan to go into the cybersecurity program while getting an internship or a helpdesk job to sharpen my skills. I will also continue going to school for my bachelor's degree in IT with a cybersecurity concentration.

Prior to starting Tech Fundamentals, I was a trying to figure out where to begin my IT career. As a veteran with an IT background, I had the knowledge but felt I did not have the skills. I needed to improve myself and grow, and that is what NPower did for me. My instructors helped me develop the skills needed as technologist and reinforced my previous knowledge from the U.S. Army. I grew more confident was able to achieve my first certificate. After I complete the program, I plan to continue to keep improving myself and become more knowledgeable in this field and going for the next certificate.
NPower has played a pivotal role in my life and has contributed to my technical, professional, and career development. I have always had a passion for technology. My stepfather introduced me to a program that he received an email about and saw that this could be a beneficial opportunity— the NPower Tech Fundamentals Program. I always loved IT, so I decided to apply and to my surprise, I was accepted. Although it was a major adjustment, especially with the ongoing pandemic. NPower provided the necessary tools, knowledge, and experience for me to succeed in the IT field and life. Thanks to NPower and guidance from parents and staff, I now know that the key to my success has a lot to do with character, preparation, aptitude, confidence, and commitment. I plan to continue with the NPower program and complete my IT fundamentals+, A+, and Security+ certifications.

I have worked at Starbucks for the last four years, debating a career path. A friend told me about a free IT program. Once I did my research, I knew this was the program I needed. I have grown so much. Learning different terminology and different installations was incredible. I give kudos to my instructors for their excellent teaching—they were behind me every step of the way. What I plan to do after NPower is tell people who look up to me my story and encourage others to take advantage of the program. I will share my knowledge throughout my life and educate everyone I know through each job. Knowledge is power; it’s key to being successful!

Since moving back to Baltimore, I gained experience as a data analyst. Before joining NPower, I acquired a position as a data fellow for Baltimore City Hall. My job involved pulling data from databases, tidying data, and creating dashboard visualizations to help city agencies present positive solutions. I decided to join NPower because I was starting a new career in the tech field as a junior analyst. I learned networking concepts, security practices, and core hardware components. I plan to get into the field as a help-desk technician or as a data-entry clerk. NPower has given me a chance to grow as a person!

Technology has always played a huge and impactful role in my life. Throughout my upbringing, I had discovered my love and passion for anything that is related to technology. Recently, I obtained a cybersecurity degree. I saw the NPower opportunity as a major stepping stone in my career. I have learned so many things that I never imagined I would learn in such a short time. Not only did I gain new knowledge within a new spectrum of IT, I also realized I could broaden my horizon even further when I start seeking employment and other career advancement programs. NPower made me into a stronger individual by mentoring me and strengthening my ability to take a better approach to not just my career, but life itself!

Before Tech Fundamentals, had no career path. I was just working for a paycheck. One day realized I wanted more out of my job. I started my search for programs in Baltimore and NPower was one that came up. I signed up, and here I am today. During the program many obstacles came my way, and the NPower staff worked with me to overcome these and make sure I had everything I needed. They encouraged me to want more and do more in life, to set goals and accomplish them. After graduation, I plan to continue my studies and get more certifications. Knowledge is power—and that’s what NPower gave me, the power to want more for myself!
Before NPower, I was taking college classes for A+ certification and working at a deli. My grandmother was looking for coding classes online and found NPower. She sent me the link and told me to apply. Once I got in, I was surprised how different the teaching was. NPower helped me rise over that hurdle that was holding me back and get my ITF certification to further my career in IT. I plan to get a job in IT and eventually go to work in t he government.
Before NPower, I was a recent high school graduate during the ongoing pandemic with no plans. When I learned that my older sister had gone to Tech Fundamentals, I thought it would be a perfect opportunity. During high school I spent three years learning IT, left incomplete because of COVID. I just had to join NPower and enhance my skills. The knowledge I have gained was more than I have learned in my three years of computer science classes; the opportunity to earn my certifications was a plus. After graduation, I plan to get an internship and then obtain other certifications so I can work in cybersecurity.

Prior to being a student at NPower, I was working in the automotive industry as an assistant service manager, where worked a long hours, was unhappy, and felt unappreciated. In March, my job decided that my services was no longer needed. This was the first time in my life I had no plan, and soon after I lost my aspiration. One day, I received a call from NPower, and the rest is history. NPower changed my life significantly and gave me a renewed sense of hope. I began to build my confidence and push myself beyond my limits. Without NPower, I would have never known my true potential. Thank you, NPower!

Before NPower, I was taking college classes, jumping around from major to major until I eventually left. Friends referred me to NPower. I didn’t have the desire to go the traditional school route. Working long hours I currently worked in the medical field without substantial compensation wasn’t a lifetime goal. However, I didn’t know where or how to begin acquiring certifications. Throughout this process I have learned real-world technical and professional skills that give me an edge in the job market. Not only have I found my area of focus in IT, I have also gained a network of friends and lifelong mentors who continuously foster my growth. There were times where I thought I couldn’t cope; my instructors and classmates were consistently there to motivate me. I plan to become a freelance UI/UX designer, and with the help of a classmate, I have actually began working on my first project.

Before NPower, I was a Class A commercial driver working from 10 to 16 hours a day long distance. I pursued that route only for the money to improve my situation. However, I knew I had more to offer. I always had a passion for technology. I have friends who are currently in the field, and one is an NPower alumnus. I knew it would be perfect for my current situation and I would come out of it better as a professional. I’ve gained a new family, surrounded by colleagues who have done nothing but put me in a situation to win. I am truly blessed to be part of NPower!
Before NPower, I was studying cybersecurity in college. I applied to several internships and jobs without any luck. I was worried that I was not qualified for these positions, but I continued my search and came across NPower. I applied with no expectation of getting in or even getting a call back. My time at NPower helped me not only strengthen my tech and professional skills, but also to strengthen me as an individual. Something that stuck with me from what I heard at NPower was, “Trust the process.” After graduation, I plan to continue with NPower and to finish university.

Before I began Tech Fundamentals, I was working a dead-end retail job and bouncing from internship to internship with no correlation to my interest in IT. I eventually came across NPower and found out that it gives numerous certifications free of charge. figured while pursuing my undergraduate degree in computer science, I should take the opportunity to gain some experience. During the program, I had the opportunity to work with the best group of people I have ever met. I had support with open arms from my instructors, mentors, and peers. This honestly did not feel like a training program—it felt more like my family helping to plan my future endeavors. After graduation, I will use all of this training and finally begin my career doing what I truly love.

Before NPower, I was working as a waiter. This job reminded me that I needed to get my career started. My friend went through NPower, and I was eager to check it out. Classes geared to help me obtain my IT certifications, along with an internship, sounded like a refreshing start. Everyone helped me succeed. Teachers used online forums to keep us connected. There were professional development days for real-world preparation and networking, and even loans of laptops and hot spots. NPower helped me handle time management and procrastination, and also provided advice through social support managers, teachers, and recruiting and admissions managers. After graduating, I look forward to further exploring IT and pursuing the Network+ and Security+ certifications.

Before NPower, I only had six months of work experience with a grocery delivery service and the occasional work for a friend of the family. I was attending community college, and after my first year of college, it started to feel stagnant. A friend recommended that I look for IT internships on a job search site, and that is how I found NPower. I chose the Tech Fundamental Program because I wanted to be well-versed in the fundamentals to create a solid foundation, one I could later build an IT career upon. I'm proud to say this exactly what I was able to accomplish, in addition to a plethora of professional skills and industry connections. It would not be possible without the supportive staff. I believe the most valuable thing I gained was confidence in my abilities and in myself. After graduation, I will complete my associate’s degree and secure a job as an IT professional.

Before NPower, I was a lab technician for two years and a medical screener for one year. I learned customer-service skills and worked on processing plasma bottles. I went to Indeed.com to find a career path dealing with technology because always had a passion for it. I came across the NPower Tech Fundamentals Program and decided to apply. The hardest thing was trying to better myself while keeping everything maintained as I recently moved out on my own. I always strive to keep pushing because what you do now can make a better tomorrow; that was my motivation as times got hard. I learned things that I had no clue about that I use every day, which amazed me. After completing the program, I will pursue a career in IT for computer programmers and return to school.

Before starting NPower, I was working as hard as I possibly could for little money and no opportunity. I was working as a dish technician struggling to keep a roof over my head as I found myself constantly evicted. NPower was brought to my attention by my significant other, though I must admit at first I was skeptical about the program. I took the best risk of my life as I progressed through the orientation phase. I love the growth not just as an IT professional, but as a business professional. This comes from me just trusting the process. NPower gave me the confidence in myself, along with a newly-formed hunger and the belief that hard work will pay off with great dividends.
Before NPower, I was working full-time as a cashier. I found NPower by chance while scrolling through Indeed.com. I took a chance and applied, in hopes of learning more about Information Technology. Through NPower, I learned that professional development is just as important as hard skill development. After graduation, I hope to get a job where I can further develop my hard and soft skills.
Before NPower, I was in the midst of figuring out how to get a foothold into the world of IT after taking a year-long break from school while working full-time at Mom’s Organic Market. I learned about NPower through my little sister. My initial thoughts were that the program sounded 110 percent too good to be true. After talking to the recruiter regarding the ins and outs of the program, I was ready to take my first step into the world of IT. Since joining NPower and qualifying for my first IT certificate, I am now setting my sights on acquiring my A+. After graduating from NPower, I plan to start studying the IALEIA program for data analysis, while returning to school part-time to complete my computer science degree.
WINDSOR MILL, MD
Before NPower, I was taking classes in computer science and working full-time. I was scrolling through my LinkedIn one day and came across notifications that a recruiter from NPower viewed my profile and messaged me about Tech Fundamentals. Throughout my journey in this program, I had to develop myself as a scholar and as a professional. There were times where things wouldn’t be in place, and I’d have to resort to plan B or sometimes I would have to sacrifice my time to do some extra studying so I could pass exams. Being virtual was challenging as well. After NPower, I plan to go back to school and finish my degree, while also applying for internships and jobs in IT. Now that I have expanded my IT skillset through NPower, I can start launching my career while continuing to learn and grow as a professional.
Before joining NPower, I was looking for video editing jobs with no luck. That was when NPower was recommended by my uncle. He encouraged me to apply because of my past experiences in IT in high school. When I got a phone call and learned I was accepted, I was both anxious and excited. I was happy to join the program because technology has evolved a lot since I last learned about IT. I’m grateful for the help that I received. NPower has taught me how to create and segment a network; I also learned about hardware. After graduation I plan to obtain a full-time job as an IT technician or a cybersecurity engineer with video editing being a side job. Thank you, NPower, for changing my life!
NPower has given me the resources and support to strengthen my knowledge and build a career in the IT field. I heard about NPower from my mother, who saw it on the news. I am forever grateful; this program has been a blessing. From obtaining my ITF+, to working towards my A+ certification, NPower has helped me find my passion for IT. After graduation, I plan to obtain more certifications and return to college for my degree in computer science. NPower has taught me that I can do absolutely anything, as long as I believe in myself. Thank you NPower, for believing in me!

After graduation, I would like to get a position with the government and take the cybersecurity course through NPower.

Before starting the NPower program, I was working at a grocery store to stay on my feet while trying to figure out to do. I was interested in technology and wanted to gain more knowledge than what I learned in school.
A family member who was in the NPower program reached out to me and encouraged me to get apply. It was tough being in the program because I had to learn virtually and then go to work right after class. However, it taught me about myself and the changes that I would have to make to study and put the knowledge into practice. After graduating from the program, I plan to obtain a job that allows me to use the knowledge that I gained from the program, and also to have time |to further my knowledge in another class or program.
Before NPower, I was a line cook at Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Brews with the goal of one day running my own restaurant. One day I received a call from a family member stating that she saw a commercial for NPower. I always loved technology and the changes it makes in our daily lives. During these 16 weeks, I was able to enhance my knowledge of ITF+. I had to challenge myself and realized that I can achieve anything I put work and effort into. I thank the instructors and the entire team at NPower! After graduation, I would like to be in tech support and share this great opportunity with others.

Before NPower, I was a nihilistic high school student in need of a push in the right direction. Entering senior year, I found new perspective and motivation but still lacked direction. The opportunity to join NPower was brought to my attention by my guidance counselor. After thinking about it extensively, I decided to apply. The nonstop interaction, workload, and format allowed me to gain a new perspective and understanding of what it means to be a professional and an adult. After graduation, I plan to start my career in IT and further my technological education and skills in cybersecurity.
Before Tech Fundamentals, I was in college, but I had no clarity about a potential career. A co-worker told me about a tech program that helped him start a career and recommended that I join. I decided to apply because I wanted to try a different path. This program is one of the most intense experiences I have ever experienced in my life. NPower has great instructors and an amazing support system. Whenever I have a problem understanding something in class, I can count on my instructors and classmates doing as much as they can to help me understand and make progress. After I receive my A+ certification, I plan to start working toward receiving my Security+ one. I could not have made it this far without all this support!

I spent six years after high school aimlessly moving from job to job. I was scared I wasn’t smart enough for the tech field until I applied to NPower and got encouragement from the recruiters and social support staff. From day one, the instructors and team were always ready to help. They understood that sometimes life happens and things get rocky. When they say that they want to see you be great, they mean it! Being an NPower trainee has given me access to many tech professionals and resources that I would have never found on my own. The program even gave me the confidence to reach out to people that I had never met on LinkedIn to connect and set up meetings. Now I am an aspiring software developer ready to move into apprenticeships and junior developer roles, thanks to NPower!

Before I joined the NPower family, I was working multiple jobs and felt hopeless about my future. I have always been a fan of technology; my interest in technology made me hungry to learn more about the field and consider going back to school to earn a degree or certification. However, due to lack of resources, I just didn’t know how I could afford a proper education. That’s when NPower came into my life. My older brother is a graduate of NPower New Jersey, and he told me about the program and all the good that it had done for him. Joining NPower was a dream come true. Now I have the chance to feed my academic hunger, and at the same pursue a career. I plan to use my skills to better my future and the future of those around me. After graduation, I will continue my education while working and pursuing a career in software development.
