Falling from the stars and into the wires, I initially thought I wanted to be an astronomer who would look through a telescope all day and draw planets under the tantalizing stars in an observatory. I eventually came to the reality that there’s more to astronomy than looking through a telescope. So, I came back to earth to pursue IT. My journey led me to NPower, which led me to obtaining my ITF+ certification and Google support certificate. I am now working as an IT technician intern and pursuing my A+ certification. I will be graduating with my associate’s degree in computer support tech and will be on my way to a great career!

I had experience as a student technician while in school. I joined NPower to learn more about computer hardware, software, networking, security, and troubleshooting as well as to gain certifications. Also, the organization agreed to assist me in getting a help desk technician internship and possibly a job. Currently, I have the CompTIA IT Fundamentals+ and Google IT Support certificates. I am aiming for the CompTIA A+ one, all thanks to NPower!

Before taking my first step toward IT with NPower, I was trying to figure out my career path while working as a disassembly technician. I attended coding boot camps on weekends to make sure that this was the right step for me. Figuring out the bugs in code and building programs was love at first sight, but I wanted to make sure. I started doing projects and deepening my tech understanding. I learned that the help desk was a great first step, but it was hard to find a job with little relevant experience. Then I found NPower! It was amazing to gain knowledge in hardware, networking, and how to carry myself in a professional setting. NPower helped me get further than I ever thought possible!

Before starting NPower, I was a full-time student in computer science, working at an Amazon warehouse to gain some relevant experience. Joining NPower has helped me solidify my knowledge of IT and transform my career. I learned about troubleshooting and problem-solving. Since I am passionate about coding, I want to take it one step further and join the software developer internship program to learn more about professional programming in the business field.

Before I began my journey at NPower, I was really struggling with the motivation to do anything. College wasn’t going well, and COVID forced classes into an online environment. When I lost my job, I had no direction. Then a friend told me about NPower. After scanning the website, I just knew this was where I belonged. With all the things that I learned, from tech fundamentals to how to conduct myself professionally, I value all of it to the nth degree!

I was led to NPower by my interest in IT from the age of 6 years old. I always was fascinated by being able to control what was going on the screen. After going to community college for 3 semesters, I knew that college in general wasn’t for me. This caused me to be quite uncertain when came to my future. With discovering and going through NPower’s program, I now feel confident about my future and can say I’m grateful for the opportunity and the additional doors it has opened for me!

Once I got more involved with NPower, it totally gave me the motivation and drive I knew I possessed. With the mentorship and networking NPower provides, this is a game changer!

Soon after graduating high school, I saw an opportunity at NPower and gave it a shot. After I graduate, I want to acquire more advanced skills in the IT field and earn certifications.
