Before NPower, I was pursuing a certificate in software engineering. I’ve always had an interest in tech, especially video games, but I struggled to stick with a bachelor’s degree program due to mental health issues. While I achieved my certificate, I needed more experience and training to land a job. Then my mother introduced me to NPower, and it was the perfect program because it was a bridge between getting my certificate and landing a job in my field in a short time for free. NPower gave me valuable IT and professional skills to make me well-rounded. I now have more opportunities to get my foot in the door in the tech industry. After graduation, I plan to pursue a career in either software engineering or system administration.
Tired, overworked, and lost is what I was before NPower. I had been working 8–12 hours at a plant when I began training with NPower. I struggled to manage class and work because I would go home in the morning and immediately get my brothers ready for school. I would fight to go to sleep, just to barely have the energy for class at 2 pm. I eventually had a conversation and explained I couldn’t do both; my instructor told me, “I think you should stay with us because you have a brilliant mind and are passionate learner, so if you can stick with us, maybe we can provide you with everything you need.” That same day I was laid off and decided to focus completely on honing my skills in the tech world. Through NPower landed an internship with Rocket Companies by applying both what I learned in Tech Fundamentals and professional development. Had it not been for my teacher believing in me, I probably would still be scrambling to work!
Before NPower, I recently had to leave university due to financial problems. I want to make music, but with music being almost completely on computers, I needed to widen my technological skillset. NPower helped me immensely and even assisted me in finding work. I currently have no offers as far as IT, but I’m sure that’ll change by the end of the program!
Before NPower, I was working a factory job that wasn’t suited to me. I joined NPower to learn more about technology. I enjoyed NPower because they go above and beyond themselves to help their students, and I liked to help other students. I learned about the cloud and how it works as well as computers in general. After NPower I plan to use my technical skill to get a job.
Before NPower, I was studying computer science concentrating on game design and development and was part of the Apple Developer Academy program. When my mentor recommended NPower, I thought this would be an amazing opportunity. I applied and was able to make great connections with my classmates, instructors, staff, and alumni. I never thought I’d be getting certifications in CompTIA A+, CompTIA ITF+, Google IT Support Certificate, and Google Project Management! I’m grateful to NPower’s staff for their continuous support. I have grown and learned and will take the skills to future ventures. After the program, I have an internship with Apple Developer Academy and will strive to graduate from college.
Before NPower, I was working and searching for jobs to advance me and my family. I pride myself in taking care of my girls, and the jobs I was working didn’t provide opportunities for growth and advancement. This led me to think about the things I enjoy, and one of those is technology. I was led to NPower by my cousin who graduated last year. I quit my job and became a stay-at-home dad to gain further knowledge in IT, earning my Google IT Support and CompTIA ITF+ certifications. I’ve learned so much about myself and what I can accomplish due NPower. I’m excited to see what career path it leads me and my family to!
Before joining NPower, I dropped out of college after four years with no degree. While in a non-profit program, I attended job readiness workshops where they introduced us to NPower. From that moment, I knew I wanted to change my current situation and start a career in IT. During my time in the program, I gained new knowledge, skills, and professionalism. I now have completed two certificates while pursuing two more, made many connections on LinkedIn, connected with a mentor, and feel more confident. I am so thankful to the program and the staff. My plan after completing the program is to either apply to an internship or join the workforce in an entry-level position.
Before starting NPower, I was working as a warehouse associate at Amazon. At the time, I was far from satisfied because it felt like I was doing unvaried work. I was introduced to NPower by a mentor. NPower showed me that many of the IT skills you learn can be implemented in many types of IT jobs. I also learned how valuable it is to practice your professional skills. After graduation, I plan to acquire a job in IT support with my ITF+ certification and continue to improve my skills in various IT fields, including software development and cloud computing. That way can expand my skill set and open myself up to more opportunities!
Before NPower, I was in college, but taking the school year off due to unforeseen circumstances and trying to figure out my next move in life. What brought me to NPower was the desire to learn more about technology. The program taught me ways to interact with technology as well as the different opportunities that arise from having experience and knowledge. After graduating, I plan to finish my undergraduate degree as well learn more about different forms of technology to further my academic and professional career.
Before NPower, I was working at an Amazon warehouse with little chance to advance. It was draining; after a year of working there, not learning anything or doing anything meaningful, I started job hunting. I was always interested in computers, but I never thought I’d be able to do anything without a college degree. I found NPower on Indeed.com and applied because it seemed like the best way forward. NPower gave me not just technical knowledge, but also interviewing and job-hunting skills. I gained knowledge about how computers work and how to fix various issues. I earned certifications in IT and met cool, like-minded people. After graduation, I plan to start my career in IT by finding a help desk technician job and seeing what interests me and going from there!
Before NPower, I was not sure what I wanted to do. I loved working with technology and people, but I felt stuck, I felt like I should be in school, but I didn’t know what to study, or where I would get the money. This program helped by providing so much technical knowledge and certifications needed for the jobs they helped me find — all for free!
I’ve been given so many great career opportunities; I have a job offer to be a technical product support analyst with Comcast. This program has gotten me to a place I never would have been able to reach on my own!
I joined NPower because of my passion for technology. I felt that NPower could help me grow my knowledge and understanding. NPower is a lifesaver because I didn’t know how I was going to start my tech life; they helped me find my way. I’ve had prior experience with programming and a little web design, but nothing major. NPower helped with my critical thinking and ability to remember things without writing them down. I highly recommend the program to anyone looking for a start into tech. After graduation I plan to find an entry-level job to get experience with tech roles to build my career to a higher level.

Before NPower I was in complete shambles — a confused college student trying to learn how to be an adult and survive the pandemic. What brought me to NPower was my mom referring me, but I like to say that it was God. asked for a way out that suited me better than college, and the opportunity literally came knocking at the door! NPower gave me an insane amount of self-assurance, since it was at my own pace. I have full control over my life and decisions. Having my plan after high school crumble left me hopeless. I truly didn’t know what was to come. I hope to find my place in the field based on the tools I received — whether it be as an actual techie or a fuzzy. I will share my experience and inspire others to try the program!
Before NPower, I was in school but was curious about learning technology. I was tech savvy to a certain degree but didn’t fully get into technology until now. What propelled me to NPower was a friend emailing me about it; he stated it was free and would be a great opportunity to expand my technical knowledge. NPower gave me a new set of skills I can use for the rest of my life, as well as an organization I can utilize to enhance my knowledge, skills, and build connections.
Before NPower, I was going through the basics of education. I was moving forward with the courses, but wasn’t learning any foundations for a career. What brought me to NPower was seeking a better opportunity. At NPower, I’ve had resources across the board to impact me as an individual and expand my career in tech — foundations of databases, hardware, software, security methods, peer-to-peer networking, team exercises, and great staff who commit to making me better. My experience with this program has exceeded all expectations. I felt I was not alone; had committed instructors and placement staff who spent time with me to improve my tech career while making me a better person. That was something I was seeking from college and could not find.

What brought me to NPower was the opportunity to pursue my interest in technology. After graduating from college, I joined Teach for America (TFA) in its fight against educational inequity. Over two years, I had the privilege of working with incredible students, parents, and community leaders who were all committed to making a positive difference. My time at NPower not only gave me the fundamental knowledge for building a new career path in technology, it also introduced me to even more extraordinary difference makers. After graduation, I will be completing a summer internship with Rocket Central, embarking on my long-term goal of becoming a software developer.
Before NPower, I was a kid trying to find a career. I tried many things, from trade school to working, but I didn’t feel satisfied. I was working at Snipes when got the best opportunity of a lifetime. My mother sent me a flyer about this tech program called NPower. I had never heard of them, but it sounded interesting. What piqued my interest was that it was a free program that teaches people about tech and helps them find jobs in the IT space. I had a friend who was also an IT professional, CompTIA A+ certified. NPower gave me skills and tools. The staff made me feel I was a priority and wanted me to succeed. After graduation, I plan to work as an intern at Rocket Central, possibly leading to a full-time job. I will continue my education and get more certifications.
Before NPower, I was working IT help desk support at Blue Cross Blue Shield, and I still am. What brought me to NPower was my desire to further my expertise in the IT world. My time at NPower gave me more knowledge and more opportunities to excel in my IT career. After graduation I plan to keep on excelling and get into the cybersecurity program.
Before NPower, I was working at a bar, not making great money. I had gone to college, but because of Covid I put it on hold. NPower enabled me to continue my education, in a better environment, and gain skills and knowledge I needed to pursue a role in IT without the financial burden of a four-year university or comparable certification program. The professional development resources were helpful in finding job opportunities that I otherwise would have missed. The classroom environment was relaxed; I never felt stressed, but it was serious enough so I didn’t slack off. I plan to work in IT to cement the knowledge I learned in class, before coming back to receive even more certifications in the alumni programs.
I learned about NPower from an old friend. The way she raved about the program sparked my interest. Before starting NPower, I had jobs, but never a career. Throughout the program, I have learned there is a difference. I have accomplished personal and professional goals with the help of the amazing support system NPower provides. NPower has been nothing short of awesome. It’s free, but it takes hard work and effort. I will continue to recommend this program to anyone interested in tech!
Before NPower, I was working part-time at Target and doing a youth program, Leaders in Training; it was there that I learned of NPower from my success coach. She gave me the info because I said I was interested in an IT role. NPower showed me that I really enjoy learning about computers and gave me a clear idea of how to network and make connections. The best thing I’ve gotten from NPower was all the new people in my corner, supporting me every step of the way! After NPower, I hope to have an apprenticeship with Google or APTIV.
What brought me to NPower was the drive to become a young IT professional. thought there would be a lot more coding involved; but it goes deep into tech fundamentals, perfect for someone with little knowledge. The field of technology can be intimidating because of its lack of diversity. So, it was great to know that NPower was completely diverse. After being in retail for so long only to go back to school, I noticed that NPower has opportunities to push for pursuing not only a job but a degree in technology. NPower gave me more than just knowledge on technology; it also helped with professional development. After graduation, I plan to have an internship and a job secured, ready to turn 21 as a professional!
Before NPower, I was unemployed, unsure about what to do for my next job. What brought me to NPower was the fact that I wanted to further my tech experience and meet new people. My time at NPower gave me a greater sense of appreciation and understanding of how important tech security is. After graduation, I plan to land an entry-level tech job and possibly further my education with NPower down the road.
JENEISHA NASH 24 NILE RAGATZBefore I started NPower, I wasn’t sure what to do as a career. I wanted to go to college, but I couldn’t afford it and didn’t know what to study. I started working part-time jobs that I did not enjoy. I’m really into video games, so I decided to try building my own PC. It was the best decision of my life! I realized how much I enjoyed working with computers. After my friend told me about NPower, I knew it was the right choice. I’ve earned my Google IT Support certificate and gained knowledge and skills related to IT that will help me find a job. I am truly grateful for everything that I have been able to achieve through this program — at no cost!
Before NPower, I was fresh out of school with a bachelor’s degree in economics. Technology has always been interesting, because of the amount I used it. What brought me to NPower was my dad; couldn’t resist the opportunity. I came into the program to make connections with peers and guests that NPower provides, but also for the knowledge of IT. Technology is advancing every day, so having the basics of IT as a skillset is ideal. NPower allowed me to achieve the objectives I set. I made connections with peers and IT professionals, as well as gained an understanding of the fundamentals of IT. After NPower, I will use my connections and knowledge for various business ventures, mainly my own, hoping to work with other IT companies to have this opportunity for more inner-city children across the nation.
Before starting NPower, I was a chat agent for a company contracted to handle live and text chats for the automotive sales industry. I found the work unsatisfying and was feeling insecure and worried about my future. Then I heard about NPower. At first, I thought it was too good to be true, but my friend assured me that it was legitimate, so I took a chance. With the professional development, certifications, networking, and the ATI position that I landed, I got a lot out of my time at NPower!
Before I got in the NPower program, I was doing customer support calls for Nintendo. I found myself having to answer a lot of technical questions, and even sometimes performing tasks remotely that would usually involve training. Soon after I parted ways with the company, I decided to join NPower to better my credentials for a similar career in that field. NPower is accessible, remote, and nowhere near stressful. I got a lot of information in a digestible amount of time. I’m already seeking other jobs closer to my passion — gaming.
Before NPower, I was a college dropout looking forward to returning to college. heard about NPower through social media and thought it was the perfect opportunity to develop my technical skills and break into the industry while obtaining my degree. My time at NPower gave me an invaluable number of resources and education, increasing my confidence about entering the workforce. After NPower, I will continue my education and pursue a career in software development or data science.

LAUNCHING TECH CAREERS. TRANSFORMING LIVES.
NPower’s model is a solution to building a diverse tech pipeline. Our graduates launch tech jobs with an average starting salary of $41,000–$60,000 and are positioned to advance their career path, enabling them to earn more than their peers in lower-wage jobs. Higher earning potential is the key to breaking generational cycles of poverty, positioning our students and their families to achieve long-term economic success.
WE ARE THE FUTURE OF WORK
Through partner and tech industry collaboration, our free training model is a workforce development solution for the future. In today’s economy, over 50% of all jobs require some degree of technology and digital skill. We prepare untapped, diverse talent to fill the number of technology-oriented jobs that will increase in the U.S. to 13 million by 2025, according to a recent Microsoft Data Science report that estimates that digital job capacity. Our graduates of over 4,000 veterans and young adults are hired at over 2000 companies and nonprofits as interns and full-time employees.
NPower is on a mission to create pathways to economic prosperity by launching digital careers for young adults and military veterans from underserved communities.
Part of this goal is our ‘40 by 22’ initiative, which aims to advance more young women of color in tech careers. This initiative is supported by the Citi Foundation’s Pathways to Progress initiative.
