Before NPower, I studied computer systems in college and learned networking, virtualization, and security concepts. I needed to hone my skills in this competitive marketplace. I had technical knowledge but didn’t have adequate work experience. As I searched for entry-level IT positions, I heard about NPower. NPower supports folks to transition from having no IT background to working in positions they never imagined! I felt confident that this journey would aid in my career objectives. I strengthened and fostered existing and new technical skills, solidified my passion, and found a new purpose. The closed and quieter me became accessible and open to help others. I developed speaking skills through the mentorship of top industry executives. The best part was it was FREE!

Before NPower, I was an intern at BNY Mellon. I also worked as a data entry specialist. Unfortunately, my days working in data entry were cut short by Covid-19, leaving me unemployed. During a job fair, I came across NPower and was intrigued. When I heard that it was free, I was skeptical, because as the saying goes: nothing in life is free. After careful consideration, I joined NPower; it’s the best decision I ever made! NPower taught me that there's no such thing as asking too many questions. I had the opportunities of a lifetime, such as networking, getting IT certificates, and having hands-on learning experiences.
Thank you, NPower!
Before starting NPower, I had an eclectic work and school history. Bouncing from construction to sales while pursuing a history degree in college, I struggled to find a clear path. NPower truly helped me see my potential and gave me a sense of purpose. I had always enjoyed technology; NPower made getting my certifications like the CompTIA A+ and finding work finally obtainable, and it was all free. I cannot overstate the significance of NPower and would recommend it to anyone new to tech!

Before NPower, I received an associate’s degree in IT and was looking for my next step. I heard of NPower and how it prepared my friend to take the A+ exam. I knew this was the right program. The number of new people I met with the same passions as mine is amazing. I’ve made great friends, and we will keep in touch as we grow in our careers. You have to put in the work, but I highly recommend anyone thinking about getting into IT apply for this program.
Before NPower, I was in my sixth year of working retail, pondering where I wanted my life and career to go. Having attended college on and off, I struggled to find a promising career that I enjoyed and was passionate about. found NPower on social media, and it instantly piqued my interest. I recalled my affinity for technology growing up, when family members asked me to troubleshoot their devices, and wondered why I hadn’t thought of pursuing IT as a career sooner. I took a leap of faith and don’t regret a single moment. I plan to complete my internship, hone my skills, and expand my knowledge so I can hit the ground running. I will be prosper in my new career, thanks to NPower!
Before NPower, I was unsure about what to do with my life. In high school they never teach you about careers. Suddenly you turn 18, and you have to decide what you are going to study in college. I had two options: wait for a year to get into a nursing program or choose something to change my life in just months. I chose something that I didn’t know much about, but computers are the next generation. I jumped on the opportunity, which led me to meet and network with some of the kindest, most loving classmates!
Before NPower, I was working 53 hours a week at a car rental company for three years. I had no direction and was living day by day. Going to school was a financial struggle; I was running out of options. A friend at the top of the class and a recent Rutgers grad mentioned his amazing experience at NPower. All it took was trusting a four-month process, free, and he got a job offer at One World Trade Center. I was accepted into the program, and I knew this was where I belong. With the amazing staff, instructors, and friendships, I can wholeheartedly say NPower has been a huge blessing; without this program, I can’t really say where I’d be today!
Before NPower, I graduated from college, with a B.S. in IT. I was struggling to find employment and felt stuck, with no way of placing my foot on the door in the job market. A friend suggested I apply to NPower. NPower helped me get the CompTIA A+, Google IT Fundamentals, and Project Management certifications. I joined the mentorship program; my mentor provided support and guidance. After graduation, I got an internship at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. I will remember everyone and everything I've learned from the program. I look forward to a better tomorrow!
I joined the Marine Corps after high school. had my doubts about entering college and decided to serve my country as a demolition and breaching expert. After the military, I had a hard time figuring out a career. While attending school, I came across NPower though a fellow Marine and NPower alumnus. I had my doubts because I had little experience in tech. I had an interest in computers and technology, but I saw it as a hobby, not a career. Since starting the program, my mindset and knowledge changed. The staff are the best! They helped me learn about computers in a short time. I’m really thankful that I found NPower!

I joined the Army National Guard after graduating from college, seeking something challenging both physically and mentally. While serving, I came across a veteran career opportunity and found NPower. Since my job in the military is working with signal equipment, I wanted to pursue IT as a full-time career. This is where NPower can play an important role by offering an IT training opportunity and helping with your resume, as well as helping students with the job hunt. I’m grateful that I joined this awesome program!
I joined the Army after high school. I was accepted by the Military Academy. While there, I had brain surgery and was medically disqualified after a 16-month medical board. I decided to take a gap year to get myself together and figure out what to do, and during that time I was recommended to apply to NPower. I applied knowing that I had nothing to lose, and it seemed like a great opportunity. I have expanded my knowledge in the field that I love and learned things that will give me an advantage in the workforce. I’m thankful for this opportunity, because I learned things in six months that would have taken years to learn.
I joined the Army National Guard because needed a change. scored high enough to get a job working with satellites. I loved my job; it gave me an even greater love of technology. After deployment, I found NPower at a job fair for veterans. I had my doubts when the spokesperson told me they would help me get my certifications for free. I was raised to believe that nothing in life is free. To my surprise, it was true! NPower is the real deal. Not only do they help you academically, they help you emotionally by motivating you and pushing you even when you don't have the faith to push yourself. The program continues to help after you graduate— from resume building to finding employers. If you are a vet or a young person fresh out of high school or even in college, take a chance with NPower. It is a short-term sacrifice for a lifelong reward!

Before NPower, I was working full-time in retail and had recently earned MVP of the entire Northeast territory. It was a crowning achievement that I’m still proud of, as it showcases my dedication to customer service.
Despite my accomplishments, I remained disgruntled at the fact that while finally had a single full-time job, I didn’t make enough to sustain myself. What brought me to NPower was a desire to restart. NPower gave me invaluable knowledge, equipped me with tools necessary to succeed, and worked with me every step of the way. And when I say every step I mean EVERY step, from resumes, updating my LinkedIn, interview training and workshops. The NPower staff truly have a burning desire for you to succeed. I am A+-certified, having completed and attained all the certifications they had to offer. I am renewed, refreshed, and empowered!
Before joining NPower, I had a vision of making my community a better place through technology. My plan was to work as an electronic engineer and join a respectable company who does their community a lot of good by developing useful products.
I went to college and got an associate’s degree in applied science in electronic engineering. I wanted to take my education further, and I heard of NPower from a friend. About two years' worth of technical experience is concentrated into a program that prepares you for a job in four months, so it can be a bit hectic.
Even though information can be overwhelming, NPower provided the materials and help I needed.
From CompTIA A+ certification training to informative workshops courtesy of the professional development team, they helped me take my education to the next level. All they ask of you is to pay it forward and try your hardest.
Before NPower, I was working as a gymnastics instructor struggling to make ends meet and find my path. I wanted to return to school but was financially unable to do so. Learning about NPower from my nephew, an alumnus, helped me make a career move for the better. This program has been beyond all expectations. With the networking, the internship, the mentorship, and the A+ certification training, this program has been a blessing, and everything was free! I’m grateful to my nephew and to everyone in the NPower family.

Before starting NPower, I was working as a lab assistant with a degree in management information systems. I found myself at the end of my undergraduate career losing passion and being on the receiving end of countless rejection emails from companies. However, as I applied for jobs, I came across NPower. NPower helped me regain my passion. It wound up being a decisive career move for the better. After reading more and talking to my brother, an NPower alumnus,I knew this was the right program. From the networking, professional development, A+ certification training, and the memories, this program is a dream come true. The only thing I had to do was put in the effort and take a leap forward and trust the NPower team!

Before NPower I did not know what to do with my career. I came out of college with a government degree. I figured out that I did not want to work in the government after I graduated, and NPower was a great choice to help make my career switch. Now I’m on track to have a successful career in IT!

I joined NPower out of high school. I didn’t have plans for the future and was worried about spending thousands of dollars for college. I wanted to expand my interests in another way. My cousin suggested NPower because of how effective, helpful, and diverse the program is, all completely free. Being new to IT, I had my setbacks in achieving my certifications. Nonetheless, the staff and fellow trainees were so supportive. I eventually started to get the hang of things. I’m happy I took a chance to dive into the IT world through NPower. Anyone who follows suit will not be disappointed.

Before NPower, I didn't have a sense of direction; my unemployment benefits were ending, and I was unsure about my future. I was taking a break from school due to financial hardship. What brought me to NPower was my brother who knew my situation. He explained the benefits of NPower; at first, I ignored him. I then realized it wouldn't hurt to try, so I took his advice and applied. I have gained many skills that can be used both in life and the workplace: alertness; organizational skills; direction; and the ability to face different challenges head on. I will seek employment using the certifications and technical skills and knowledge obtained through the program.
Before NPower, I worked a variety of jobs, trying to make ends meet. I wanted to head into the field of IT and tried various methods, but the ventures were costly. Learning about NPower gave me hope that I could land a career within the IT field. After I attended the information session, I was certain it would change my life and lead to opportunities. NPower gave me access to resources, from networking and mentorship to certification training; in particular A+, but most importantly mock interview training. This program was a pleasant surprise, and all the training was free. My one obligation was to trust the staff; I am grateful for their support.
The future after graduation has never looked so clear, thanks to NPower!

Besides the professional certifications that helped boost my resume and job readiness, I have gained confidence. The staff are supportive along the journey. They helped open up opportunities for me — the exact ones was searching for! Now I have more than enough resources to break into the field of technology.

Before NPower, I was an intern at my local city hall, but they ended my internship due to the pandemic. While searching for new opportunities, I came across NPower via Indeed. The program covers different topics, such as networking, internships, mentorship, and training to earn an A+ certification. I made friends and learned new aspects of IT. NPower boosted my confidence and self-esteem. After graduation, I plan to do more research for opportunities.
Before NPower, I was a college graduate with a B.S. in computer science. I did not have a clear mindset as to how to use my degree. I joined the Army, which gave me a different outlook on the ways technologies can be incorporated to improve people's lives. While the Army gave me a job, I needed to find a way to translate my skills to civilian life. I NPower to find a mentor, someone to help navigate my journey in the IT field. But, let me tell you, I got much more!
I worked with incredible peers who were so ambitious my goals extended far beyond just looking for a doorway. Every day I network with people who share their stories. I had additional lessons and projects that ultimately gave me certifications — with still some to come. The future has never been so clear. I don't think anybody who leaves NPower truly leaves, because they become so invested that they become family.
After serving in the military, I continued my college education in cybersecurity. Upon completing my undergraduate degree, I moved on with graduate school.
I am devoted to promoting the practices and handling the intricacies of adopting new technology in cybersecurity. As I sought opportunities, I was led to NPower by “Hire Heroes USA.” While I had doubts, I reached out to inquire if it was genuinely free. NPower empowered me to feel confident. Through personal responsibility comes possibility, and that’s when my time at NPower began to change. At NPower, I experienced nothing less than home, and I thank the team for the extraordinary support. Just because found NPower doesn’t imply, I should pause seeking, asking, and knocking. A growth mindset, continuous effort, and a positive attitude will determine the altitude.
Before NPower, I was working as a security guard at a local airport. The money was okay, but the hours and the management weren’t. After a year of working there it was obvious that things weren’t going to change, so I felt I needed to be the one to make that change. I had heard about NPower from a friend whose brother had done the program. He spoke of its legitimacy and honestl, which ultimately led me to apply. I received my acceptance, but there was one problem — my work conflicted with the class hours. NPower was understanding, and while they couldn’t adjust the class schedule, they did give me time to decide what choice was best. Joining the program seemed like the best choice for a better future. I left my previous job and wholeheartedly believe this was the right idea!
JOB IN THE MILITARY Electronics Technician-Navigation (Submarines)
I joined the Navy right after university. I had no doubts about serving my country from as a navigation division electronics technician. After the military, my next challenge was to start a civilian career in tech. I came across NPower though a brochure forwarded to me by a veteran’s association. I had no doubts that this is the program for me; and to prove this, I did not take a job offer that would have paid well but would not satiate my thirst to learn more and thrive. I’ve always had a keen interest in technology, and I knew that NPower would open the door; they accepted me into their program! I’m eternally grateful to NPower for giving veterans like an opportunity to sharpen their skills and prepare for satisfying careers in the highly dynamic tech industry!
Before NPower I was a recent college graduate. I had a degree and was struggling to find a job due to Covid-19. After I graduated, a professor, who I stayed in touch with, brought me to NPower. We looked into NPower together, and he felt it would be a good opportunity. NPower gave me discipline and taught me never to give up; I wouldn't have time for this program because of the need to work, pay bills and take care of my parents. However, the social support team and the professional development team at NPower helped motivate me. They were very understanding of my situation and supported me to do my best—and I did! I plan to succeed with my current employer. I would like to obtain more advanced certifications and work to be promoted within the company.

I felt if I continued with school, I was going to end up in major debt and commit to a career I would not enjoy. During my last semester in college, I discovered NPower; the program opened my eyes! It taught me that there is always a way to achieve your dreams and goals; sometimes people just need help, and that is what NPower is there for. This program assisted me in so many ways! It helped me get IT certifications, build my resume, meet new people, and given me numerous staff to contact if I ever need ANYTHING. By the end of program, I felt like a different person full of technological knowledge!

Before NPower, graduated from college with a focus on broadcasting and visual media. I began NPower simply looking to expand my skillset. WE ARE THE FUTURE OF WORK
Through partner and tech industry collaboration, our free training model is a workforce development solution for the future. In today’s economy, over 50% of all jobs require some degree of technology and digital skill. We prepare untapped, diverse talent to fill the number of technology-oriented jobs that will increase in the U.S. to 13 million by 2025, according to a recent Microsoft Data Science report that estimates that digital job capacity. Our graduates of over 4,000 veterans and young adults are hired at over 2000 companies and nonprofits as interns and full-time employees.
LAUNCHING TECH CAREERS. TRANSFORMING LIVES.
NPower’s model is a solution to building a diverse tech pipeline. Our graduates launch tech jobs with an average starting salary of $41,000–$60,000 and are positioned to advance their career path, enabling them to earn more than their peers in lower-wage jobs. Higher earning potential is the key to breaking generational cycles of poverty, positioning our students and their families to achieve long-term economic success.
NPower is on a mission to create pathways to economic prosperity by launching digital careers for young adults and military veterans from underserved communities.
Part of this goal is our ‘40 by 22’ initiative, which aims to advance more young women of color in tech careers. This initiative is supported by the Citi Foundation’s Pathways to Progress initiative.
