NPower is a national nonprofit that offers an alternative fast-track to tech careers for military veterans, military spouses and young adults from underserved communities in New York, Texas, California, Maryland, New Jersey, Missouri, and Michigan. Our six-month program fuels a diverse pipeline of digital professionals hired into entry-level and mid-level jobs by Fortune 500 companies throughout the U.S.

Before discovering NPower, I was working in retail for minimum wage. My passion for the IT field became more and more apparent. I decided to join NPower to make a change in my life and pursue my interests, instead of remaining in an unfulfilling job. NPower provided essential skills needed in a professional environment as well as technical skills needed in an IT job. I am proud to say that I have completed my 16-week course and ended up with three new certifications, including CompTIA A+. I would like to take my first steps towards a successful career in cybersecurity.
Joining NPower changed my life. I was unemployed for a year due to the pandemic and a lack of skills. I had a good educational background and some experience but was struggling in the job search. That changed once I joined NPower. The IT field seemed inaccessible before I found NPower, with expensive boot camps or returning to school to study computer science. But through NPower, I learned tech skills and gained amazing certifications such as the CompTIA A+, Google IT Support, and Project Management ones. I also secured an opportunity with Citi. I developed the skills to pursue what I’m truly passionate about. I look forward to continuing my relationship with NPower and furthering not only my own success but also aiding others in their journey within IT!
I was lost and stuck in my prior internship before finding NPower. NPower gave me the opportunity to brush up on all of the fundamentals of being an IT professional. What I liked best about this adventure was staying the course and having the determination to finish what I started, even if it meant staying up late and overcoming challenges. NPower gave me the necessary base to earn my CompTIA A+ certification and launch a successful IT career. I look forward to obtaining additional certificates and establishing myself in the field.

Before NPower, I was working in a completely different field. I have long been interested in technology but found it difficult to transition into this industry. I learned about NPower through a friend and NPower graduate. I was lucky enough to take part in the Tech Fundamentals program. I am grateful for this opportunity which exposed me to different fields within technology, helped me develop professionally, and provided me with a strong support system. Upon graduating from Tech Fundamentals, I look forward to studying for more advanced certifications in cybersecurity and furthering my education.
After completing my studies in information systems, I felt lost as I did not have the proper guidance to navigate a career path. After learning about the NPower IT Fundamentals Program, I wanted to enroll immediately. The program included everything I had wished for: virtual training, a paid internship or a projectbased learning experience, social services and personal development support, and industry-recognized certifications. NPower boosted my confidence and skills. I received the Google IT and Project Management certificates and completed the first phase of the CompTIA A+ certification. I also improved my networking and interviewing skills, and now I feel ready to start my professional career. I would like to receive more advanced certifications and work as a technical specialist on a team that values collaboration, constructive feedback, and diversity.
After completing my studies in IT, I learned about NPower through my alma mater’s career services team. Applying for the program aligned with my goal to obtain more credentials along with expanding my professional network. NPower was offering instructional guidance on how to prepare for the CompTIA A+ certification and secure job placement within the tech field. I had a positive experience and now my next goal is to complete the secondary part of the CompTIA A+ exam. After my initial placement in an entry-level tech role, I look forward to achieving more certifications and being part of a larger company.

Before NPower, I was struggling to find a job as a software developer due to a lack of experience. Then I heard from a friend who received an internship from a non-profit organization called NPower. I joined in hopes of getting the proper professional training and work experience that I lacked. NPower taught me essential IT skills and showed me how to build my professional network with well-respected companies. My next step in my professional journey is to complete my internship and take advantage of alumni courses to continue learning.
Before the NPower Tech Fundamentals Program, I worked as a bank teller at TD Bank. I have always wanted a career in IT but didn’t know where to start. I learned about the opportunities at NPower through a job fair, so I applied to pursue my interest in technology. NPower taught me so much: business etiquette, stress and time management, and goal setting. I strengthened skills that I already possessed, like financial literacy and effective communication. NPower gave me the opportunity to expand my network and connect with individuals from large organizations. I plan to gain other CompTIA certifications to prove my expertise in the technology industry. In the long term, I would like to apply my knowledge and pay it forward to help others that share an interest in tech.
Before NPower, I was working as a clerk at a law firm, where I did not see myself having a career. I always had an interest in technology but never pursued it until my friend, an alumnus of the program, introduced me to NPower. With the help of the NPower staff, I was learned the fundamentals as well as soft skills needed to excel in the IT industry. After graduating from NPower, I look forward to obtaining more advanced certifications and networking with other tech enthusiasts. Ideally, I hope to work for a large company and with a collaborative team invested in my professional growth.
After pursuing my studies in linguistics, I was dissatisfied with my prospective career paths. I soon realized that it was not the right field for me. As I was searching for a new career path, I came across an advertisement for NPower, and much to my surprise, my application was accepted. IT always piqued my interest due to the fact that I had no experience in the field whatsoever, so I wanted to try it out. NPower aided me in beginning my journey into the IT field and for that, I am very grateful. I enjoyed engaging and interacting with both the NPower staff and my fellow trainees due to their overall amicable, supportive, and helpful natures. I am looking forward to further developing my IT skills and breaking into cybersecurity.
After studying criminal justice, I was unable to gain employment. I decided that needed to change my career path, and this was done by doing thorough research and networking with people within the tech industry. I came across NPower through speaking with NPower alumni and am very glad I took the initiative. I had a wonderful time at NPower, mainly because the staff was very helpful and supportive. NPower gave me the opportunity to earn my CompTIA A+ certification and to have a successful IT career. I look forward to achieving more certifications and experience. My dream job would be to work for a company like Microsoft.

Before enrolling in NPower, I was struggling to decide what career path to take. I was unsure about returning to college or entering the workforce. Thankfully, through a family friend, found NPower; it was everything could have asked for and more. NPower prepared me both professionally and mentally for what a career in IT requires. I’m grateful to have been a part of NPower and for the staff and my peers. hope to be part of a company that I can call my work family.
Before I was recommended to NPower by a friend, was trying to get my foot in the door for an IT career. I have been interested in IT since I was 10 years old and have been the IT guy for troubleshooting for friends, families, and neighbors. Once I heard my friend had gone through the program, acquired multiple certifications, and started his IT career, I was interested. NPower gave me the opportunities I was looking for, as well as helped me gain necessary hard and soft skills to succeed. I was acquired my CompTIA A+, Google IT Support, and Google Project Management certificates, for free, along instructional support. I landed an amazing internship at Citigroup. My experience at NPower is invaluable; I will do my best to follow the tradition of “paying it forward.”
Before enrolling in NPower, I was attending school and working part-time, trying to help my family financially. I joined NPower to gain more IT knowledge and develop my professional skills. Before NPower, I was working in healthcare as a client care coordinator. I wanted to break into the tech industry but was unsure about how to pivot from my previous career. I needed some help, which is why I applied to NPower. I’ve become proficient in troubleshooting, productivity software, networking, and hardware configuration. One of my long-term goals would be to become a certified project manager. I received the beginner level project management professional certificate and am happy that I get to work on this long-term goal!
When I discovered NPower, I was doing work that I found enjoyable but wasn’t my passion. I yearned to join NPower in an effort to dip my foot into the world of IT. I had an inkling of what to expect but was unsure about the complete picture. Through this program, I was able to attain my CompTIA A+ certification and start my IT career. This experience awakened a new confidence! I tackled other certifications with the friends I’ve made. I look forward to what the future holds.

Prior to NPower, I was juggling work and completing my studies as a full-time student in order to help my family. Although challenging, I persevered and continued to look for opportunities that would contribute to my professional growth. I joined NPower to enhance my IT skills and learn more about the tech industry. The program helped me become more confident and create a network of successful individuals. I learned about different IT and technology careers. I appreciated the professional development sessions that prepared me for interviews. As a next step, it would be great to achieve more certifications and expand my network. One day, I wish to work in a company that can assist young adults in starting their careers.
Due to my past studies in computer engineering, I knew my future would involve the IT field. I enjoyed assisting people who would struggle to keep up with the never-ending world of computers and software updates. I also completed some ITrelated work study that offered a collaborative environment to find solutions to challenging issues.
NPower proved to be a great next step because the staff and students were supportive and knowledgeable when it came to workforce insight and technical certifications. The program prepared us for the real IT world where we went past principles and applied what we learned in real-life situations at Fortune 500 companies. With my increased field knowledge, experience, and enhanced soft skills, I have the confidence to work in companies that advance the field of technology.
Before NPower, was working in the hospitality industry. I wanted to break into tech but wasn’t sure how. I stumbled on a news article about how an organization called NPower helped individuals break into IT. On a whim, I decided to apply and little did I know that this would be one of the best decisions I ever made! Not only did NPower teach me the hard skills I needed, but also the soft skills. It was not easy, but the support from the staff played a big part in my success. With an A+ certification under my belt, I look forward to achieving more and establishing my career in IT.

Before NPower, I was working as a freelance designer and losing my passion for design. I decided to look into different career paths like IT and cybersecurity. I came across NPower and knew it was exactly what I was searching for. NPower helped me gain knowledge and understanding of the IT field with no prior experience. I am thankful for the instructors and staff for guiding me in this journey and exposing me to different careers and network connections in technology. NPower helped me earn my CompTIA + and Google certificates. I look forward to expanding my knowledge and obtaining many certifications. My dream job is to work for Google or Facebook in cybersecurity. I would like to work with an outstanding and diverse team that I can call my family.
Prior to NPower, was working parttime at Walgreens as a pharmacy technician while pursuing studies in computer information systems. I enjoyed the job at first, but after a while could not ignore the fact that I was not gaining the IT experience I needed. While job hunting on Indeed, I found NPower. I read that they help with job placement and certificate training, so I immediately signed up. NPower guided me in the right direction. Besides gaining fundamental IT knowledge, NPower helped me to become a better interviewee, improve my resume, and better represent myself on professional social media. My goal is to learn all I can about desktop support, get my Network+ certification, learn Linux, learn hacking, work in network security, and learn cloud computing. am eager to achieve these goals and hope to work for a major company such as Sony, Microsoft, Rockstar Games, 343, and Square Enix. I am grateful to everyone at NPower for making the seemingly impossible very much possible for me and many others in my position.
Before NPower, I was working in a warehouse making decent money. I never really thought about pursuing a career in IT and was just following the crowd. After conversations with my cousins about NPower, I decided to enroll and embark on a new career. The technical skills I developed led me to better understand technology and troubleshoot my own technical issues. I also learned how to be more responsible and see life from another perspective. I feel as if I have put my dreams into action! If all goes according to plan, I hope to gain more experience and knowledge from the BCS position at Bloomberg. Further down the line, I would like to land a permanent role with an inspiring company like Bloomberg.

Before NPower, I was unemployed and feeling at my lowest. Fortunately, after my second attempt to get into NPower classes, I was accepted! I have always been fascinated when it comes to tech, but never got the chance to take a deep dive into it. After hearing about it from my aunt, I was rejuvenated; this new opportunity gave me a feeling that I was on my way to a big breakthrough. Being a part of this program gave me a better understanding of technology and made me more aware of the various career paths. With a newfound foundation in tech, and numerous certifications (CompTIA A+) under my belt, I am ready to launch a successful career!
Before joining Tech Fundamentals, I didn’t know what steps to take to start my career in IT. I have always wanted a career in IT but needed a platform. My friend told me about the opportunities available at NPower, and I quickly applied! It has been a pleasant experience that has contributed to my professional growth. NPower helped improve my soft skills and develop new technical skills, as well as make sound financial decisions. Before starting my journey at NPower, I was looking for a full-time job but couldn’t find an opportunity in a field of interest. Due to COVID-19 our world adopted a mostly virtual lifestyle; it amazed me how much we relied on technology to keep us connected! Because of this I decided to explore the field of technology by joining a bootcamp, which is how I was referred to NPower. I knew NPower would be the perfect program to jumpstart my career because of the certifications they provide along with job placement assistance. I have learned so much about computer hardware, software, and professionalism. I am incredibly grateful for the NPower staff and my peers who were always encouraging and supportive. I hope to get into software development and work for a global company with a diverse, close-knit team.

Despite having no experience, the world of tech has always been interesting. With the number of tech opportunities out there and the chance to grow and expand in this field, I knew had to make a career change. After hearing about NPower through a friend, an alumnus of the program, I knew this was my chance to start something new. NPower didn’t just teach me skills in IT, it also taught me about the professional world and allowed me to connect with amazing people. This program has set me on the right path to start a career in technology while motivating me to keep striving and obtain more advanced certifications. From my peers to my instructors, to all the NPower staff, I am grateful for the opportunities this program has provided me. I hope to work at an international company with opportunities overseas or that allow me to travel.
Before NPower, I was unemployed, constantly thinking about my future and studying to be a software engineer. I joined NPower to understand the fundamentals of IT before undertaking my career path. This journey, though I had challenges, was amazing! I was taught how to conduct myself during an interview. Considering factors like the way I dress, speak, and my body language, these nuances opened my eyes and helped me improve my interviewing skills. I was also shown the proper format for creating and editing my resumes and professional emails. Furthermore, I developed an understanding of how the web and computers work. Going forward, it is my hope to further my studies and one day become an engineer at Spotify or Apple.

Upon learning about NPower, I joined the Tech Fundamentals program, where I prepared to take the CompTIA A+ exam. I was one of just a few women and at times felt out of place, but I persevered. With support and help from instructors and classmates, I passed the CompTIA A+ exam. I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity to be part of this amazing program; I appreciate the staff believing in me when I couldn’t believe in myself! Now I am able to begin my IT career!

Before joining NPower, I worked a part-time job with full-time hours, struggling to complete my degree. I didn’t see a path into the tech industry without a college degree, but NPower showed me otherwise. I learned about my ability to retain information in a short time. With a great support system, I began to actually envision a career in IT, which seemed impossible several months ago. I cannot wait to see what the future has in store and gain more certifications and a job at a company that feels like family. No matter the future, NPower will always have my back!

While searching for employment, I grew frustrated with not finding jobs in accounting. At NPower, I gained hope and trust that my training would lead to an entrylevel IT job. I never thought of doing anything with technology as I always thought that women are not equipped or supported to work in this ever-changing field. However, I went from not having any prior knowledge of technology to knowing many different things about hardware and troubleshooting. My dream is to get a full-time tech job and continue to explore this expansive field.
Before I became a student of NPower, I worked in retail; then the pandemic hit and put me out of work. I took that as an opportunity to get serious and look for a solid career path. I knew going back to retail was not a sustainable option. So I took some computer science courses online. A friend informed me about NPower, I gave it a shot and the rest is history! NPower is an experience I’d recommend to anyone looking to further or build their tech career. The community and support from both faculty and students is unmatched. Everyone clearly wants to see others succeed. With the addition of a few certifications and now an internship, I have everything I need to pursue my new career.

Before discovering NPower, I was working as a part-time shift manager for Rite-Aid. I worked this job in order to afford my certification exams, with the hope of landing a position in IT. When heard about the NPower program from a friend, I knew it was the perfect opportunity for me. NPower gave me the foundation and support to pursue my certifications with greater fervor. Before joining NPower, I was working part-time as a cashier and looking for opportunities to start my career in IT. Finding an entry-level tech job was no easy task. During my search, I came across NPower and was drawn to their goals and the opportunities they provide to others new to IT. From the very first day, I knew I made a big career decision that would positively impact my professional life. NPower has given me an opportunity to continue learning about IT and develop professionally. My experience was amazing! My expectations were exceeded. The instructors and engagement leaders truly helped me develop and prepare for the future. look forward to working in a large enterprise where I can continue to flourish and one day work in the IT security field.
Before finding NPower, I was lost and unsure about what direction I should take in my career. Covid19 struck the world and greatly hindered my job search. I would go weeks or even months without hearing back from companies. When I did hear back, it was rarely good news. This was a low point in my life that hurt my overall confidence. Then a college friend told me about the Tech Fundamentals program. I saw this not only as a way out of my situation, but also as a chance to get back into an industry that I felt so connected to. Thanks to NPower, I have gained the IT knowledge and professional skills I need to excel. Today, I stand tall with new confidence having earned several IT certifications and a great professional career ahead of me.
Before enrolling in NPower, I was video-game streaming and didn’t know what I wanted for my future. I applied to NPower because technology fascinated me and I wanted to incorporate tech not just into my hobbies but my professional career as well. Upon learning about NPower through a friend, I realized this was my opportunity to improve my current situation! NPower helped me develop my technical knowledge as well as professional conduct, in addition to providing me with professional connections within the IT field. I was exposed to different careers and paths to success, leaving me feeling more prepared for my first dive into a tech career. I will continue my studies, work towards earning higher certifications, and expand my professional network. I also look forward to being a part of a company that feels like my home away from home.
Before NPower, worked as a substitute teacher and realized that the academic world was not something that I was truly passionate about. IT, on the other hand, has always been my passion; the only problem was that I didn’t know where to begin. It was not until a friend told me about their wonderful experience at NPower that I gained further clarity on my next step. NPower not only helped develop my technical knowledge, it also helped me develop professionally. NPower exposed me to different career paths and guided me toward my own career goals.
Moving forward, I will continue to work toward obtaining advanced certifications such as Network+ and Security+, while continuing to grow my professional network. In the near future, I hope to work at Citibank as a cybersecurity analyst on a diverse team.
Before enrolling in Tech fundamentals, I worked in retail and was struggling to decide where my career would go next. Having graduated a few months prior, I wasn’t t sure whether to pursue a career in psychology or follow my underlying passion for technology. After being accepted by NPower, they helped me realize the numerous career opportunities available in IT, while giving me real training I would eventually put to use in the workforce. I was able to obtain my CompTIA A+ certification as well as several other Google Career certificates. I’m grateful to have connected with the amazing staff at NPower, who were very knowledgeable and eager to help us learn and grow our skills in professionalism as well as in IT. Before joining NPower, I was a recent college graduate unsure of his future direction. Although I studied IT topics in college and had a degree, I remained unconfident in my skills. I found NPower while browsing internet forums. I thought it seemed like a great opportunity, so applied. It was! The program helped me to gain a better understanding of topics I learned in school and also built on that with new material, giving me stronger foundational knowledge. The staff was extremely helpful, motivating me as I studied for the CompTIA A+ certification exams.
I feel far more confident and hopeful than ever before!
Before NPower, I was working at a dead-end fast-food job, wondering what was the next step to take. I have always been interested in technology and was referred to NPower and their Tech Fundamentals program. NPower took me under their wing and taught me the in-and-outs of knowing how to operate specific software and hardware, as well as how to troubleshoot and find solutions to issues. They set me up with essential career skills during their weekly professional development sessions. I will strive to study and obtain more advanced certifications such as cybersecurity. I ecstatically await the future as I journey through this tech world!
Before joining Tech Fundamentals, I had a knack for analyzing data, programming, and mathematics. NPower’s professional development curriculum is what attracted me the most, even though I have a great interest in technology. NPower emphasizes that success isn’t all about technical skills as there is a networking step that makes up the other half of the journey. I learned how to improve key skills in professionalism, market awareness, and interviewing. My participation in the program also contributed to achieving CompTIA and Google certifications, such as the A+, Google IT Support, and Project Management. I plan to continue my education by pursuing certifications in higher-level IT, such as Network+, as well as achieving my goal of becoming a data analyst.

Before NPower, I struggled to find employment due to the pandemic. I started looking into IT as a possible career. I heard about NPower through my friend’s successful completion of the program and decided to apply because it directly aligned with what I wanted to do in IT. NPower helped me develop networking skills and prepare for job applications and interviews. I also learned about the different career routes, leaving me with a better idea of what I can pursue after the program. Not only did I gain career knowledge and certifications, I also gained lifelong friends from studying and growing with my peers. I plan to continue my studies in networking and gain more certifications in cloud technologies. One day, hope to work at a company that pushes me to grow my skill set and supports my goals.
Before NPower, I was helping out in my family’s restaurant. My decision to join NPower was sparked by various factors. I learned about it from an alumnus. Throughout my time in the program, I picked up valuable insights within the professional world, such as interviewing and networking, and developed a strong foundation in technical IT skills. I look forward to refining my skills to help deliver solutions to employers and customers.

Before NPower, I was working towards a career in electrical engineering but decided to follow my passion for technology. What drew me to the IT field was my love for computers and the deep satisfaction I got from helping others with IT problems. It is truly a privilege to have that drive to help others and the skills to back it up. At NPower, I learned to properly conduct myself at an interview, write an impressive resume, and develop more confidence in myself and my abilities. I have learned that at a job, your boss does not expect you to know everything on the first day, but does expect you to be willing to learn. I strengthened my understanding of computers and how to solve their most common and complicated issues. I learned more about the operating system I currently use in three months than in the past 10 years!
My NPower experience was full of fun and bumpy rides, and I met and connected with amazing people who I hope to meet again.
Before NPower, worked in jobs that were not in IT but had everyday ties to utilizing technology. was always good at learning about new devices and troubleshooting devices. Therefore, I was encouraged to join NPower by my brother. NPower made me realize how much I know and how much I will continue to learn in life. I learned to understand software and hardware from an end user and technical support role. In turn, my ability to provide an exceptional customer service experience improved. I made many friends who I hope one day could be my business partners. There were a lot of bright members, as well as the staff always ready and available to help any student in need. NPower helped propel my career! plans to use my tech knowledge to pursue careers in the auto, music, and photography industries.

I had recently graduated, and COVID made the job search more difficult than it already was. I was able to secure a job as a front-desk receptionist but always wanted to get my foot into the IT field and find the right place to start. Luckily, I came across NPower while searching for a job and knew it was what I needed to start my IT career. I learned many new things and met many great colleagues and NPower staff. The program furthered my knowledge of technology and motivated me to learn more. I look forward to obtaining IT work experience and earning more certificates.

Through partner and tech industry collaboration, our free training model is a workforce development solution for the future. In today’s economy, over 50% of all jobs require some degree of technology and digital skill. We prepare untapped, diverse talent to fill the number of technology-oriented jobs that will increase in the U.S. to 13 million by 2025, according to a recent Microsoft Data Science report that estimates that digital job capacity. Our graduates of over 4,000 veterans and young adults are hired at over 2000 companies and nonprofits as interns and full-time employees.
NPower is on a mission to create pathways to economic prosperity by launching digital careers for young adults and military veterans from underserved communities.
Part of this goal is our ‘40 by 22’ initiative, which aims to advance more young women of color in tech careers. This initiative is supported by the Citi Foundation’s Pathways to Progress initiative.

NPower’s model is a solution to building a diverse tech pipeline. Our graduates launch tech jobs with an average starting salary of $41,000–$60,000 and are positioned to advance their career path, enabling them to earn more than their peers in lower-wage jobs. Higher earning potential is the key to breaking generational cycles of poverty, positioning our students and their families to achieve long-term economic success.
