INTERNSHIP TBA JOB IN THE MILITARY Interpreter, Combat Engineer DUTY STATION / DEPLOYMENTS Camp Victory/Cropper, Iraq, Camp Taji, GreenZone, Iraq, Iraqi Operation Freedom, Operation New Dawn, Fort Hood DECORATIONS Humanitarian Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Medal
TAIF A. CORTANY Baghdad, Iraq U.S. Army & Army National Guard Served 6 Years
During my time with the Army, I had more than one job, but my primary responsibility was interpreting between local citizens, Iraqi officials and the U.S. Army in Arabic and Turkish. My current role with the Army National Guard is operating and maintaining route clearance equipment such as rocket launchers and MPCV Mine protected clearance vehicles. Such operations are conducted under pressure and in extreme environments. I applied my leadership skills in the civilian sector when I worked in a leadership position for more than four employers and successfully produced the best results that a supervisor could achieve with limited resources. My passion for technology started years ago when I started helping friends and family with their computer problems. I try to keep myself up to date with the newest technology, it is a changing business that is always advancing, and that is what I like about it. I learned about and enrolled with NPower to earn my CompTIA A+ and improve my technical skills to find a job as IT tech and cybersecurity analyst. My future goals are to become an IT and cybersecurity analyst in an industry where I can be challenged and tested to produce the best result for my team in a competitive work environment.
INTERNSHIP TBA JOB IN THE MILITARY Motor Transport Operator and Computer Network Administrator DUTY STATION / DEPLOYMENTS Iraq; Korea; Germany; Fort Hood, Texas; Fort Riley, Kansas; Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; Fort Polk, Louisiana; Grand Prairie, Texas DECORATIONS Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (4), Army Achievement Medal (5), Army Good Conduct Medal (6), Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War On Terrorism Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal (2), Overseas Service Ribbon (3), Noncommissioned Officer Service Ribbon (3), Army Service Ribbon, Mobilized Reservist Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, Driver & Mechanics Badge I am still serving in the Army, expecting to retire in December 2019 after 21 years in the military. During my time in the military, I have held various positions such as squad leader, platoon sergeant, operations NCOIC, training NCO, schools NCO, defense travel administrator, command financial NCO, truck master, first sergeant, computer network administrator, protective security detail NCOIC and equal opportunity leader. I have a bachelor of science degree in business, and I am currently pursuing my master’s of arts degree in executive leadership. I learned about NPower from another service member that was in my unit. At the time they were talking to me about NPower I was listening to what they had to say, but I really wasn’t interested in the program. It wasn’t until I decided that I was actually going to submit my packet to retire that I looked into NPower after doing a little research. The key for me was the fact that I could get IT training from leaders in the industry that would provide me with marketable skills that could be used in the shortest timeframe possible.
WILLIAM D. BACON SR. Corpus Christi, TX U.S. Army Served 21 Years
The skills I learned in this course are going to be used to obtain a part-time job while I am still on active duty so that I can continue to learn and hone my skills so they will be relevant and I will actually have a year of work experience in the IT field.

THOMAS BLAIR
Arlington, TX U.S. Army Served 3 Years 4 Months
I served three years and four months in the U.S. Army as a combat engineer. I was responsible for the cleaning up roadside bombs, as well as help cleaning up trash and building walls for the people in Iraq. After separating from the military, I went into security, to help keep people safe and to enforce the rules and regulations of each site I was assigned to. I went back to school and got my associate of applied science degree in network systems administration from ITT Technical Institute. When ITT Tech closed down, I went to University of North Texas and got a bachelor of applied arts and science degree. After getting two degrees, my friend told me to go to NPower to get A+ certified to further my career. I signed up after thinking hard about my options, and it was the best thing for me to do. After I get A+ certified, I plan on returning for the coding class.
INTERNSHIP Qnetis JOB IN THE MILITARY Transportation Management Coordinator DUTY STATION / DEPLOYMENTS Fort Bragg, NC, Schofield Barracks, HI/Iraq (07) & Afghanistan (09) DECORATIONS Army Achievement Medal, NATO Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Two campaign stars, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (3rd Award) Before NPower, I was thinking about going back to school and furthering my education in bioinformatics. However, I wasn’t sure how I was going to pay for the classes. What brought me to NPower was an NPR segment about the program from an alum who was making a good salary. After hearing his story, I felt the program was a good fit so I applied and was accepted. My time at NPower gave me a better way to do things. Additionally, I also was given two mentors: one with IT knowledge and the other with networking skills. Both will be beneficial as I head into the corporate world. After graduation, I plan to get into networking and programming/coding. I have found myself wanting to learn more about the IT field and hope to one day develop software.

Through Tech Fundamentals, I got the basics, and my next goal is to get into cybersecurity where I see my future. I am taking steps to enhance my IT career, and NPower has been the key for me. APPRENTICESHIP Qorvo JOB IN THE MILITARY (Airframer) Aviation Structural Mechanic My Navy career began in 2009. I had no idea what I planned on doing right after high school, but I knew I needed a placeholder in my life until I had a clear idea of what my path would be. While in the military, I started a family and thought it would be best to transition back into the civilian world. The process was not as easy as expected. I took odd jobs to make ends meet and blew my GI Bill on predatory institutions. While visiting a workforce center, I learned about NPower. I was hesitant to attend at first because all the details seemed too good to be true and I was not ready to waste my time chasing another dream. However, after attending orientation and listening to the testimonials of former students like myself, I honestly felt like I could envision myself in their success stories and that it would match the path that I was going down at that time. NPower is the only organization I’ve encountered that provides free training for a lucrative career field, free business attire to ensure the students have a way to look the part regardless of their financial background and professional development geared towards attaining careers in the IT industry. I am in awe of the support and dedication I’ve received from the staff of NPower, and I look forward to paying back all the generosity I have encountered since I have attended. It can’t be said enough times but still, Thank You, NPower.

I have received training for business analyst positions too. I plan to keep on taking IT classes and gather as much knowledge and certifications I can and keep on learning the newest IT skills (Cloud, Block Chain Technology, AI, SaaS, Cyber Security, etc.) I am confident my educational background in engineering will help me learn in-demand skills. Thank you, NPower for the opportunity.

I served six years active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps working in logistics and supply chain management. I have worked in the field of logistics for the last 12 years. Wanting to do something new I began researching alternative career fields, I saw a future in IT as a logical extension of my interests and skills in technology. During my research, I came across the NPower website and decided to look into it. After speaking to the great people that work at NPower, I decided to apply for the training program. I came into the program with some technical skills and little knowledge of how much I had left to learn. NPower helped me to gain the insight and real-world experience that I need to successfully change career fields. I look forward to continuing to work with them and to starting my new journey into the world of IT.
INTERNSHIP Citi JOB IN THE MILITARY Human Resources Specialist DUTY STATION Grand Prairie, TX I joined the U.S. Army right after high school. At that time, the army was a better choice for me because I was still very unsure on what I wanted to do in life. Plus I enjoyed the idea of being in the reserve component in the military and still being able to come back home and go to school. During one of our drill weekends a recruiter from NPower and spoke to us about this program and I was sold within his very first sentence. I never really had an interest in computers because I always thought it was way above me, but after learning about NPower, I figured, why not? So, I took this as a learning experience, entering a new phase in my life and immediately knew that I was going to make this my career and will continue to advance in the IT industry. I am incredibly grateful for NPower and its staff!

After active duty, I followed a love of food that I picked up from my grandmother, and attended Scottsdale Culinary Institute and graduated with honors. An illness caught up with me after many enjoyable years cooking, and I was no longer able to stand for extended periods of time. In searching for a new profession, I learned about NPower, and it has put me back in touch with people that I share a background with along with my enthusiasm for electronics. After getting out of the service, I worked seasonal jobs doing manual labor for 14 or 15 hour days and wasn’t bringing home nearly enough money to build a future. Since joining NPower, I feel like my life has completely turned around and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. The staff and instructors are incredibly supportive, and they make sure you are taken care of however they possibly can. I honestly can’t believe how amazing NPower is, and that I had never heard about them sooner. The military taught me leadership skills and hard work, but since leaving the military, NPower has made the single most significant difference in my life and has given me a chance to prove my worth.
INTERNSHIP TBA JOB IN THE MILITARY Operations Specialist/Instructor DECORATIONS Sea Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal, Master Training Specialist My greatest accomplishment is being a successful husband of 27 years and father of eight fantastic children. Having started a family at the young age of 21 many sacrifices had to be made to ensure the best possibilities for my loved ones. My dream of going to college had to be put on the back burner to take care of my family. After a brief career in construction, I joined the Navy and served 7.5 years. After leaving the U.S. Navy, I started Suave Janitorial Service. I worked that business for two years then sold the company to start Everything Stucco and Plastering LLC (ESP). I successfully operated ESP for the next ten years until Hurricane Katrina forced me to relocate my family to the DFW area. In preparation for a career change, I obtained a bachelor’s degree in related management and furthered my education with a master’s in business administration. NPower has allowed me to begin my dream career in the IT field. CompTIA A+ is the first of many certifications to come. NPower truly transforms lives and strengthens communities.

After my service, I struggled to keep stable employment for years while becoming a certified personal trainer and a certified heavy equipment operator. A friend from operator school told me about NPower. I applied right away and was accepted. Coming to the Dallas program has genuinely been one of the best decisions I ever made because it has changed me as a person for the better. I served 4 and a half years in the U.S. Army Reserve stationed at Ft. Sam Houston and Ft. Hood. I went to college and got my associate’s degree in business and went back for my bachelor’s, but I have not completed it due to lack of finances. I stumbled upon NPower at a job fair in 2016 and got the paperwork about the program, filled the application out, but never actually turned it in and got serious about it until now, believing that without computer experience the training would be difficult. I am glad I decided to join the program and push myself to learn new skills to move away from the insurance field and retail management. NPower has shown me that people genuinely do care about veterans and will go above and beyond to help everyone succeed as long as there is effort put forth.
INTERNSHIP TBA JOB IN THE MILITARY Nuclear Electronics Technician DUTY STATION Norfolk Naval Station DECORATIONS National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal (2), Navy Unit Commendation, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal After serving ten years in the U.S. Navy nuclear field, I transitioned to the commercial nuclear power industryIt was a smooth transition since the Navy’s nuclear power training program is one of the most exceptional programs in the world. Eventually, my career led me to work for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) as a health physics Inspector. That position was a “dream position” that most in the nuclear field would desire. Unfortunately, during my time with the NRC, I severely hurt my back, and could no longer perform inspections, due to the intense physical demands of the job. Leaving the NRC meant forgoing great benefits and an excellent salary that I needed to support my family of nine. As I was lamenting losing what I had worked so hard for, somehow I stumbled upon the NPower website. It was no coincidence that I found a program that was starting soon after my NRC career ended, in a field which had always intrigued me. From that day, I knew that my family would be provided for, and I would soon be starting a new chapter in my life in a technical field. The instruction I have received at NPower is top notch, and my technical knowledge has improved such that I look forward to a successful IT career.

I served five years active duty in the U.S. Navy Submarine Force as a SONAR technician. After being discharged, I completed my BA in criminology at the University of Texas at Dallas. I had difficulty finding a job or career field that I was passionate about. I discovered NPower through a story on the radio of a fellow veteran whose predicament was similar to mine. I called immediately to get more information and knew that I wanted to pursue a career in the exciting, in-demand field of IT. NPower has given me the opportunity to learn the information required for this career field, and the practical experience of U.S. it in an internship. After graduation, I plan to apply for the opportunity of continuing my education in the Cyber Security class offered by NPower.

After two deployments to the Western Pacific region, I returned home and started attending Richland College and UNT Dallas to obtain my bachelor’s in sociology and criminal justice. What brought me to NPower was the need to find an alternative career path to becoming a U.S. Marshal or a police officer. My time at NPower gave me the opportunity to make a career change and provided me with the resources to obtain my goals. After graduation, I plan to continue in the IT field to build experience and expand my skills.

I served two years and six months of active duty in the U.S. Army as a unit supply specialist until I was medically discharged. After active duty, I attended truck driving school and decided it wasn’t what I wanted to do. One day I woke up and realized it is time for me to start a real career, something that I would enjoy doing. I have always had a passion for technology and through research came across NPower and was informed that the program was exactly what I was looking for to start my career in the IT field. I started the program with absolutely no tech knowledge at all, and after just one month I have gained so much experience. Another good thing about NPower is that the staff is excellent about helping you with anything you need whether it’s academically, socially, clothing or just merely requiring someone to talk to. Thank you so much, NPower for helping me start my career. I am now confident in my ability as an IT professional.
INTERNSHIP Citi JOB IN THE MILITARY Airborne Infantryman DECORATIONS Purple Heart Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq and Afghanistan Campaign Medals with Multiple Campaign Stars I joined the U.S. Army following my high school graduation at 17. I wasn’t ready to be a full-time college student, so I decided to serve my country from 2000 until I retired in 2016 as an Airborne infantry senior non-commissioned officer. Following retirement, I worked in commercial trucking and realized it was a dead end. An employee of NPower told me about their program during a conversation, and I immediately wanted to apply. Though I’ve never had an interest in computers or technology, I saw it as a learning experience and as something that I can build a successful and meaningful career upon. The faculty and staff of NPower have been incredibly helpful to every student regardless of knowledge or experience. Thanks to NPower and the on-the-job experience I gained from my internship, I am confident in my abilities as an IT professional. I thank NPower for helping me get started in a new career.

Brownwood, TX Texas Army National Guard Served 5 Years Currently Serving
My career in the military started when I enlisted into the Texas Army National Guard. After a year, I became a cadet, then commissioned as a quartermaster officer in 2015 for Tarleton State University. I deployed in support of Operation Inherent Resolve in 2017. I currently serve as a company executive officer with the responsibility of 102 soldiers and over $25 million worth of equipment. As a member of the National Guard, it is imperative that I maintain a civilian career to support myself and family. I started running Facebook ads for companies and have been finding new ways to add skills to my portfolio. My time at NPower has been nothing short of amazing. I started with the Coding class and the skills I’ve learned will help me pursue a future in web development or be able to find malicious code as a cybersecurity specialist. Tech Fundamentals was next on my list to accomplish, and after succeeding here, I plan to join a company I can continue to grow with and keep educating myself in IT to never stop moving forward.
INTERNSHIP TBA JOB IN THE MILITARY Cargo Specialist, Legal and Retention DECORATIONS Afghanistan Campaign Medal, NATO Medal, Combat Action Badge, Army Commendation Medal (2), Army Achievement Medal (2), Army Good Conduct Medal (2), Driver and Mechanic Badge I joined the U.S. Army in 2009, serving until 2016 as a cargo specialist with the additional duties of legal and retention. After serving, I went into the administrative field backed by my degree in business management for a short stint while living in Maryland. When I decided to relocate to back to my home state of Arkansas, I spoke with my vocational rehabilitation representative about entering the IT field, and NPower was brought up. I applied and was accepted. At NPower, I learned the necessary operating and troubleshooting skills that will prepare me to break into the IT field. After graduation, I plan to use the knowledge attained and move forward in the field.

I am the spouse of a U.S. Army military food inspector. Before NPower, I earned my bachelor’s in finance and began working in the financial services industry. I have professional experience working in retail banking, mortgage, small business, taxes, and accounting. While pursuing my master’s in IT and software engineering my husband found NPower on a social media page. I thought this program was too good to be true, but it was exactly what I was looking for and more. I left my job in Maryland to attend the program without any technical experience I have learned so much in a short period and looking forward to the future. I’m grateful to NPower for the assistance, skills, and training to help prepare me for a career as an IT professional.
DIRECT HIRE VOS JOB IN THE MILITARY Telecommunication Center Specialist I joined the Army after a few months in college to get direction in my life, determining the military was the right choice. After serving, I started working for the Red Cross in Germany, assisting with disaster relief throughout the country. After returning to the U.S., I attended DeVry Institute of Technology where I studied electronic technology. After graduation, I started working for Hilton Hotels as a reservationist while being on the phones I would often ask the IT department what they were working on. Hilton started changing their computer for the new Pentium and ask me to help with the deployment of over 300 computers which launched my IT career. NPower was a blessing as I was looking for work, but after talking to one of the representatives, I was intrigued and wanted to know more about the program. Now I’m studying for my CompTIA A+ certification.

I served 10 and half years of active duty in the U.S. Navy as a gunner’s mate. After active duty, I continued my bachelor’s degree in information technology, realizing that once my degree alone would not be enough to get my foot in the door of the IT world. I started researching certifications for the career field and quickly realized that they are very technical, I had no idea where to start, and they are costly. So, I searched more and came across several companies offering classes for a very hefty price, but then I came across NPower. This organization was exactly what I was looking for. I came in with some knowledge and minimal hands-on experience, and after my internship and time in class, I now have the technical knowledge I need to get a jumpstart on the career that I have always wanted. Thank you, NPower!

Parkersburg, WV Currently Living in Fort Worth, TX U.S. Navy Served 14 Years
I served six years of active duty in the U.S. Navy as a hospital corpsman. I am currently attached to Seventh Fleet in the Reserves on the medical logistics team. After leaving active duty, I went to college and acquired a BS in chemistry from the University of North Texas, and I became a high school science teacher where I taught physics, microbiology and health science for four years. During this time, I became unsatisfied in my current field as there wasn’t much room for growth. While driving to work one morning, I heard an ad on the radio about NPower, the person talked about how he had a master’s degree and couldn’t find work and also wanted to change careers. It piqued my interest, as I had always been interested in computers and thought this was something to look into. After investigating NPower online, I decided it was an excellent opportunity that would challenge me, and learn about a field that was always changing. My ultimate goal is to get into network or cybersecurity eventually, and I know NPower’s program and staff will help me achieve my goals.
INTERNSHIP TBA JOB IN THE MILITARY Boatswain’s Mate I have a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s in business administration and I have worked for financial organizations. I hope to be a commissioned officer in the Military soon so I can apply the skills I have acquired both in the military and as a civilian. I heard about NPower from a shipmate at the time I was studying for CCNA. I decided to come to the program because of the hands-on training. So far, this program has helped me transition from accounting into the IT world smoothly. I hope to be a business analyst/IT auditor in the future so I can combine my financial/managerial skills with my IT knowledge. I am open to what the IT world has to offer and excited about this journey, and I see myself at the top someday.

During my military service, I mainly worked in high echelon commands/ agencies interacting with top-ranking military and civilian personnel and Department of Defense contractors in secure highly sensitive environments. All this was due to my integrity, proven character, willingness to be a team player and a spirit of excellence. During my career, I worked in all phases of software project management, development and support. Since retirement, I have primarily been a self-employed business owner specializing in desktop software engineering. I worked for several different companies using various languages with my last job being the primary developer for a pharmacy software application created in the mid–1980s and written in Basic. I spent seventeen years in that job, and since Basic is not a “modern” language, the tech world passed me by. The company got bought out, and the programming staff was laid off. I found myself in a world where my language skills did meet market demand. I found out about NPower through a friend and recognized the opportunity the program provides for me to add to my skills and help relaunch my career. The classes and personal development skills offered by NPower are outstanding.

Ever since my discharge from the service, I have been at the intersection of financial technology and customer service. I started at a savings and loan, soon moving to bank core data processing where I excelled. I was in the right place at the right time. Successes include; selling multimillion-dollar computer services agreements with processed banks, training users on core systems, product upgrades products and serving as account manager that renewed agreements into new long-term processing relationships. Seeing many of my clients spend nearly a week manually gathering data for their monthly board report and even longer for their quarterly regulatory call reports, I invented a database reporting solution where they were able to import month-end data and export formatted reports in just a few minutes instead of days. I am also a Certified Treasury Professional with deep treasury management skillsets. I am so grateful for NPower. While at NPower, I obtained The CompTIA A+ certification in the Tech Fundamentals program and earned the CompTIA Security+, Network+, and Linux+ certifications in their Cyber Security program. I look forward to seeing how I can take these new skills I have learned and create an even brighter future for myself and my family.

Mobile, AL U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Army Served 20 Years
I joined the U.S. Marine Corps after high school at the age of 18. The military service was always my second choice if I could not make college happen. I proudly served four years, and after that, I attended college for a semester. I fell on hard times and became homeless for a year. Working odd jobs and trying to continue my education, I had an opportunity to enter into the U.S. Army and a chance to start over, and I took that chance and never looked back. I’ve served in Operation Eyes over Mogadishu (Somalia, Africa), Operation Uphold Democracy (Haiti), Operation Iraq Freedom I, Operation Iraq Freedom III, Operation Iraq Freedom V and Operation Enduring Freedom IV (Afghanistan). I made significant sacrifices for my family, and all of my children are currently serving in the military or going to college. Once I retired from the military, I attended the University of Phoenix working towards my bachelor’s of science in information technology. While I was working on my degree, I held a work-study position for the Texas Veteran Commission (TVC) and volunteered as a coach for the military’s little league soccer team and football teams. I did that for a year, and later I started working with NPower to obtain my CompTIA A+ certification. After a few failed attempts at the certification test, I refocused my attention on my degree. After moving to Dallas and working for Heart House of Dallas, I received my degree. Thanks to NPower, I got the hands-on job experience that gave me the confidence in my abilities.

Deployed for Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm DECORATIONS National Defense Service Medal I served six years in the Louisiana National Guard as a petroleum supply specialist for the 527th engineering battalion. After returning from Desert Storm I attended college at Louisiana Tech, earning a bachelor’s in finance. I have 15 years of experience as a businesssystems analyst supporting financial systems and data warehouses. In December 2017 my position was eliminated during a company reorganization. I found out about the NPower Coding course through the Texas Workforce Program. With most applications moving to the cloud, this course gave me the technical skills needed to jump start my career. In the course of my career, I would try to read through lines of code, but thanks to our great instructor—Tommy Brown it makes sense now, and I’m writing code.

Dallas, TX U.S. Navy Served 8 Years
I joined the U.S. Navy as a result of witnessing 9/11 happening right before my eyes. Everyone talked about taking the fight to the enemy, but I signed up and joined the good fight. Even though I joined the Navy, I ended up with the Marines in an infantry battalion. I have learned that Marines borrowed U.S. “docs” from the Navy, and we embedded into becoming one of them. I served with the grunts for more than half of my naval career. The times were good and bad. I’ve had the honor to help with some of the best corpsman and marines. Till Valhalla brothers. I found NPower through Cisco, and it’s been one roller coaster ride with the program. I appreciate what they do and continue their noble cause for the veteran community. For God, Country and Corps.
APPRENTICESHIP Texas Instruments JOB IN THE MILITARY Yeoman (Office Manager) DUTY STATION Houston, Texas I served for four years in the U.S. Navy Reserves as a yeoman during the Gulf War Era. While serving, I also taught special education at the middle school level. During my military service, I received training in word processing and became interested in computers. After taking some technology classes at Industry Community College, I became certified to teach technology at the secondary level for thirteen years. In addition to a bachelor’s degree in communications, I completed a master’s degree in educational technology with a 4.0-grade point average. Since retiring from teaching in 2016, I have earned a CompTIA A+ certificate going through NPower’s Tech Fundamental Program, completed an internship at KPMG and worked as a help desk technician. I look forward to taking my career to the next level as a cybersecurity analyst.

Fort Worth, TX U.S. Army & Air Force Reserves Served 9.5 Years
I am a 9 and a half year veteran that served in both the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force Reserves stationed at McConnell AFB, KS. Before NPower, I have always been curious about technology and how it could positively impact society over time and securing those technologies. After graduating from Walden University with an advanced degree in software engineering, I continued to learn different programming languages and application platforms. During my time at NPower, I have pursued my ultimate career goal to become a certificated cybersecurity analyst even with life’s obstacles. With the combination of my academic knowledge, study material to prep for CompTIA Cyber Security (CySA+) & Linux+, networking events, and alumni programs provided me with a healthy professional foundation needed to obtain a meaningful career in technology. After NPower, I plan to begin my career as a cybersecurity analyst with focus heading towards Certificate Ethical Hacking (CEH). I am ultimately thankful that I replied to the NPower email that was sent out to other veteran and spouses and received that opportunity to meet and exceed my career potential.
DIRECT HIRE Texas Instruments JOB IN THE MILITARY Combat Medic, 91B DUTY STATION / DEPLOYMENTS Kentucky, Texas, South Korea, Washington, Oregon, and California DECORATIONS United States Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, United States Good Conduct Medal, Army and Overseas Service Ribbons I am a Brazilian-born American citizen and proud second generation U.S. Army veteran. I served as a combat medic providing emergency medical support to military operations in the U.S. and South Korea. I came here as a young adult, and a few months after my arrival was still assimilating to the transition. I went to a recruiting station and opened a door that said: “Be All You Can Be.” It was an opportunity for those willing to take the challenge. In some way or another, every accomplishment that followed in my life had something to do with that decision. After leaving the military, I went on to college and pursued a professional career in the automotive industry. In 2008, motivated by the recession and the consequent restructuring of Chrysler’s operations, I became an entrepreneur. In the last ten years, I have managed and operated a thriving retail and import company in Oregon and most recently a private security training company in Brazil. It was following my latest venture, during yet another period of transition and reassessment in my life that I found NPower, which opened the door to a challenge and opportunity.

Apart from that, I earned respect from others. I received my bachelor’s degree in IT management last year and looked for some IT certificates and internships. I accepted a chance as a federal contractor within information technology, before leaving the military, which I thoroughly enjoyed until the 2008 global financial crisis. I pursued different aspects of technology until 2015 when I chose to deviate toward business in aerospace. My intended pursuit of business project management morphed into something unexpected, and I became lost. NPower has provided, not only, the guiding light back to the technology career field, but also the opportunity to find my North Star. As I learn and grow within information technology and business, I’ll be pursuing the opportunity to design solution plans that best meet the business objectives of the organization that I consult.
