“Be positive, believe in yourself, dream big, be grateful, and seek opportunity in every challenge that life brings you.” I have five years’ work experience as an accounting/office manager and I volunteer as a tax advisor at San Mateo College (VITA program). I have always been passionate about technology, so I enrolled in NPower’s Tech Fundamentals Class 5. I obtained an internship at Mozilla in Mountain View as an IT support specialist for almost three months, where I helped clients with software and hardware laptop issues and developed improvements to their ticketing system. Upon completing my internship, I enrolled in one of NPower’s advanced training programs offered to graduates, where I earned the Splunk Power User certification. I have since been working at Deloitte for almost two years as an associate technology analyst, providing technology support for 2,500 Deloitte employees and working with a great team. Education has always been very important to me and I have started learning more about cybersecurity because it is embedded into everything we do. I recently completed a firewall security class from Palo Alto Networks and a cybersecurity hands-on program from Facebook University that focuses on 10 OWASP web application vulnerabilities and creating honeypots. I look forward to using this knowledge at my current position to keep our customer’s data more secure.

I have never been one to take the easy road. I enlisted in the United States Air Force when I was 18 and served for over 10 years. After an honorable discharge, I went back to school and graduated with an information systems management degree. I have had experience working with big companies and small startups. Whatever the position was, I always enjoyed helping others whenever possible. Joining NPower has been a life changing experience. NPower has given me the chance to prove that I can succeed in this technical field and reminded me of why I chose to study information systems in the first place. My family has been incredibly supportive during this program. I married my high school sweetheart and we now have two children together. Every instance in my life has led me directly to NPower.

CONTINUING EDUCATION Academy of Art University I am glad I made the decision to join NPower. As a veteran who proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for six years active duty, I now serve in the California National Guard. I was lucky to travel the world and even live in England for two years. My educational background is very diverse ranging from a degree in business management to currently pursuing a master’s degree in web design and new media. I also enjoy coaching basketball for teens and children. I have always been interested in the tech industry and NPower was an amazing opportunity to get my foot in the door.

Before NPower, I was working as an IT field technician in various entrylevel positions. Throughout my experience I have installed, uninstalled, and performed troubleshooting on desktops and servers for a number of companies. I’ve worked with leads/managers for Facebook, nVidia, ServiceNow, and Western Digital. I had graduated with a degree in accounting and information technology management. I was pursuing a CompTIA A+ certification when I discovered NPower. Although I was studying for the A+ certification, NPower’s Networking & Security Administration program seemed like a great opportunity that I could not pass up.

I hope to one day make my mark in the world of technology.

Everyone has been very welcoming and helpful. As a veteran, I feel fortunate to have discovered NPower and look forward to applying what I have learned to my next employment opportunity.
INTERNSHIP TBA Technology has been an intrinsic part of my life since my youth—my first memories are stumbling through MS-DOS to play Risky Woods and the distinct 56k dial-tone. The job wasn’t challenging enough and I lost motivation. After days of extensive researching for a program to help me pursue my dreams of working in the tech industry, I discovered NPower through social media. NPower presented the perfect path to success, with both professional development and technical knowledge. The program helped me gain confidence and gave me hope to follow my dreams. I now have a clearer picture of my career goals and plan to use my GI bill and pursue a tech-related online master’s degree. My future plan is to pursue cybersecurity training through NPower.

Before NPower, I was working in a manufacturing company as a shipping clerk, looking for new opportunities anywhere I could. After a push from friends and family, I decided to look into an IT position. I had always been interested in technology and had been the designated IT go-to for friends and family. Starting a career in this field just made sense. While browsing Indeed, I found a listing from NPower and decided to apply. I learned so much during my time at NPower. The staff was very invested in my success and did everything they could to help me find my new path. With newfound confidence in both my technical and soft skills, I look forward to all the possibilities that NPower has helped provide.

COMPTIA IT FUNDAMENTALS+ CERTIFIED INTERNSHIP  Deloitte I did not have a clear career path after high school. After a semester in college, I enlisted into the U.S. Army as a construction equipment repairer. I left the service honorably after three years and went back to college, still unsure of what I wanted to pursue. Still searching for direction, I re-enlisted in the service and became a signal support systems specialist. In this role, I worked on tactical and technical equipment and developed a passion for technology. I learned about NPower through Work for Warriors. NPower has provided me with tools to pursue a technical career. Through NPower, I stepped outside my comfort zone and plan to continue climbing the ladder to success in the technology industry.

Before NPower, I was pursuing a degree in industrial technology, but I knew it was not my true passion. I discovered NPower through Indeed and knew this would be the perfect opportunity to expand my knowledge. The NPower staff has been very supportive. I am thankful for NPower as they have provided me the opportunity to learn and grow as a person. After graduating, I plan on finishing college as well as pursue a career in computer networking.

COMPTIA IT FUNDAMENTALS+ CERTIFIED INTERNSHIP Robert Half Technology During my four years of active duty in the U.S. Navy, I had the opportunity to travel around the world while working the world’s most dangerous job. After my service ended, I became a lead service center technician at Qualcomm. I decided to attend college to further my technical career. Challenges came up in my life which lead me into the transportation industry. I recognized that I was missing the opportunities and skills needed to transition to a tech career. I found NPower while attending Cisco’s Veterans Transition Day. I expanded my knowledge and my curiosity increased. My time at NPower has given me the opportunity to explore and grow my knowledge in all aspects of computers including networks. After graduation, I want to continue learning and explore networks through obtaining my CCNET certification.

Continuing my family’s military tradition, I joined the U.S. Air Force at the age of 19 while studying engineering. I was blessed to receive many opportunities while serving our country. My involvement with the NORAD mission and the U.S. Space Shuttle Program was a surreal experience. I transitioned into the civilian workforce working on legacy IT systems for the intelligence community. Due to the rapid growth and trends in technology, my skillsets became obsolete and needed a refresh. A veteran support program referred me to NPower. With proven results, NPower helps veterans to compete in today’s IT job market. The extent of their support to veterans is huge and unheard of. I’m proud of NPower’s cause and I hope that others will join in partnership to support of my fellow veterans. That highly coveted position in cybersecurity is now in plain sight and is real. NPower, thank you and I salute you!

Looking for a job on Indeed, I discovered NPower and applied. This program has been wonderful for me. NPower gave me real-world technology experience which I had always been interested in. I was also able to meet professionals from various tech companies and gain work experience to continue growing in this industry. After graduation, I will continue pursuing cybersecurity and attending college. I am really thankful to NPower for helping me launch my tech career.

I discovered NPower through a graduate who shared his journey, growth and personal development during his training. His knowledge of the technology culture inspired me to reach out to NPower. Before NPower, I was a college student at San Jose State University studying business management information systems. I was seeking guidance to develop my interpersonal and technical skills to be successful in Silicon Valley. NPower has successfully provided me with the resources to gain confidence in professional development. They arranged Tech Talks with established companies that presented insight on the tech culture. These resources allowed me to acquire the CompTIA A+ and CCENT certifications. After graduation, my goal is to obtain the CCNA and begin a career in networking. NPower has immensely contributed to the technical education environment and I am proud to be an alumnus.
COMPTIA IT FUNDAMENTALS+ CERTIFIED HIRED EMR CPR NPower has offered me more than what I expected. Professional development and technical classes have empowered me to explore and master the fundamentals of IT as well as different areas throughout the industry. Before NPower, I received my international business degree but I was unsure about my career path. I saw limited career opportunities with my degree as I had more theoretical training than technical. I knew that I wanted to pursue a career that was more realistic and practical like IT. After graduation, I plan to work in an entry-level position to enhance my IT trade skills. Networking with programming games and mobile apps will be key focuses. I appreciate NPower’s training and providing inspiration for individuals on their career path. With the NPower training, I plan to pursue an international technical career. There should be more support more for non-profit organizations like NPower.

After graduating high school, my obvious next step was attending college and obtaining a degree. This is what I was conditioned to believe, which caused me confusion for the next couple of years. Attending a community college, with no educational plan or goal, reflected in my poor grades. With no clear indication of what I wanted to do, dropping out of college was inevitable. Feeling lost and with no clear direction, I discovered NPower. I had little to lose and so much to gain. Within these few short months at NPower, I’ve gained more insight, confidence, and purpose for a brighter future than I ever did during my time wandering aimlessly in community college. Upon completing IT Fundamentals, I realized my main interest is in cybersecurity. I’m excited to take the tools and experiences I’ve learned from NPower to succeed in my future endeavors.
COMPTIA IT FUNDAMENTALS+ CERTIFIED HIRED Sutter Health Prior to my journey through NPower, I was a college student lacking motivation. Having to carry on after the death of a loved one, working an over-demanding job not in my field of study, and helping provide for my family, I needed change. My mom recommended NPower to me. NPower was the right opportunity I needed at the time. This program furthered my curiosity for an industry I only thought about, but never figured I’d make it into. NPower helped harness that interest and showed me the destination this path would take me to. I now aspire to be a cybersecurity analyst in Healthcare. The level of proficiency NPower provides to each individual student is invaluable. I achieved the beginning stage and am now ready to walk into the tech industry alongside my classmates with our heads held high, ready for challenges to come.

Before joining NPower, I decided to leave college and continue my training to become an IT specialist. I took several online classes and worked in AV and data center environments. I had decent professional experience but was not confident enough to obtain higher positions with my limited knowledge. After NPower, I learned more about technology, gained valuable professional development skills and discovered different ways to efficiently communicate. I also learned that knowing computer science was not just enough to compete in this field, but it was important to adapt along with technology. NPower provides certifications for modern technologies and teaches how to apply them to solve real problems. I have developed more confidence using the tools NPower has provided to become more marketable within the tech community. With this knowledge, my goal is to become a cybersecurity expert and train interns to excel in this field.

I could not believe that this program was able to teach me IT Fundamentals in such a short amount of time and provide opportunities to get certifications at no cost! It all seemed too good to be true but I decided to apply. NPower has given me a whole new outlook in life and set me on a path towards a career that I will enjoy. My time at NPower has helped me develop professionally. The awesome staff at NPower worked with me and provided me with all the tools and knowledge needed to be successful in this career. I joined the U.S. Navy right after high school. I was exposed to different types of mainframe computers, which I thought were interesting but also limited. After my service, I went back to school and learned more about IBM-PCs and Apple Macintosh computers. I embarked on a journey to become a computer technical support but found limited job opportunities. I realized I needed additional certifications. Home First recommended NPower as a way of getting my additional skills and certifications. Once I joined NPower, I saw the benefit of the in-person classes. Upon graduation, I plan to pursue a cybersecurity career as an analyst and in the future attain a CISSP certification.
