AV Magazine named Jeffrey AV/IT Professional of the Year in 2017, and in 2015 he was named Bloomberg’s global manager of the year by his peers and company leadership. Before becoming the Global Head of IT Operations, Jeffrey lead his team through a total transformation of Bloomberg’s audio visual systems and infrastructure as the head of AV and Media Technology, earning his team the 2016 AV/IT Team of the Year at the International AV Awards held in London, the industry’s highest honor. Building on that success, the Bloomberg AV team went on to win the Corporate Project of the Year in 2018 for their ground breaking application of cutting edge AV technology in Bloomberg’s new London headquarters.

Before I joined NPower, I was working at Target and really wanted to get into the IT field. My cousin approached me about NPower and told me that I needed to join. I always had a love for computers and technology and wanted to get an IT job since elementary school. During my time at NPower, I met some great people. I also made some lifelong friends and learned that by communicating, any problem can be solved. I also learned that no matter what your goal is, if you work towards it, you can achieve it.

COMPTIA IT FUNDAMENTALS+ CERTIFIED Prior to NPower, I was at a professional crossroad. With my background in Business Communications, I wanted to pair my communication skills with the rapidly growing IT field. I began designing and consulting on web design projects. I knew that I wanted to further explore opportunities within IT. I was speaking to a friend who informed me that she would be enrolling in IT classes soon. She mentioned NPower and that if accepted, I would receive free IT instruction and assistance in gaining certifications. The timing could not have been more perfect. I believe that NPower came into my life at the perfect time. I am now working diligently toward my CCNA certification, while I continue to build upon my skills through real-world application.

Before joining NPower, I was a customer service representative at Nordstrom Rack. I also had previous experience as an administrative assistant. I accidentally stumbled upon NPower while visiting another program that shared the same building. I did my research and realized that NPower better suited my interests than the other program. I already had a bit of experience in technology and an understanding of how essential technology is to our ever-evolving world. I have not only gained knowledge but also friends as well. Everyone is supportive and always has a solution to any problem whether personal or class-related. Being pushed out of my comfort zone was a challenge. I have gained interpersonal skills, improved my communication skills, and realized teamwork is beneficial. After graduation, I would like to explore various tech areas and start my career in systems administration.

Before NPower, I worked as a seasonal retail employee for Macy’s. I had to leave when my work hours prevented me from taking public transportation. I found out about the Tech Fundamentals program through Indeed.com. I saw NPower as an opportunity for me to expand my knowledge of tech, get my foot in the door, and do something I was always interested in. When I started at NPower, I was surprised by the amount of support that I received daily and the patience of the staff when it came to helping me. I’m confident that the staff will continue to help me after the program. After graduation, I look forward to becoming a network engineer and going to college. With the skills I’ve learned at NPower, I know that I’ll be successful long after I graduate from the program.

COMPTIA IT FUNDAMENTALS+ CERTIFIED Prior to joining NPower, I had just graduated from Glen Burnie High School and was unsure of what to do. I decided to attend Brightwood College to study becoming an IT helpdesk technician. Unfortunately, after 5 months, Brightwood College shut down and I was back to square one. I started to search online for other tech programs and found NPower. It’s a good feeling to be able to finish what I started. I plan to go back to school to get my bachelor’s degree in the technology field.

COMPTIA IT FUNDAMENTALS+ CERTIFIED COMPTIA A+ CERTIFIED   ITIL CERTIFIED HIRED  BITHGROUP Technologies Before NPower, I was working at a retirement home in Ellicott City as a prep cook/dishwasher. I was not challenged and was very bored. I was going to college for general studies, but I wasn’t really invested. I needed a change and something to challenge me. I went to Indeed and started looking for paid training jobs. As luck would have it, I found NPower. I applied and they called me the next day I was in. They said it would be challenging and they were right. I’ve never studied so much in my life, but I have rarely felt this prepared. Thanks to this program, I can go to any IT job with a good foundation and not have to worry.

Prior to entering the Tech Fundamentals program at NPower, I worked at a local liquor store. I have always had a great interest in the evolution of technology. Unfortunately, finding employment had been a challenge. My mother spoke to me about the opportunity at NPower and how I should better myself academically, personally, and professionally. In my journey within this program, I was able to work towards several certifications and improve my time management skills. After graduating from NPower, I plan to take advantage of everything I’ve learned here and pursue a meteorology IT career for NOAA or NASA and become financially independent.

Before finding NPower, I struggled to find my purpose in life. I wasn’t sure of exactly what I wanted to become. I didn’t come from a wealthy family, but I knew one day I wanted to be able to provide wealth for my family. I applied to the program because I did not have the funds to go back to college. I know that technology is the future of the world and it is happening fast. What I do in this life is no longer for me, but for my nieces, sisters, and my future children. I loved how the program also shaped me as a young man and not just as a student. I learned how to conduct myself in the workplace. I struggled due to outside factors and the harsh realities of everyday life in Baltimore. On the days I missed school, I educated myself to stay on track with the curriculum. In the future, I want find ways to help people who were in my position.

Prior to joining NPower, I was unemployed without a solid career plan. One day, my friend who had been in the program told me about it and I saw it as a great opportunity. What I really liked about NPower is that the people here cared and wanted me to succeed. I learned valuable interviewing skills that I continually use today. After graduation, I plan to further my education and achieve more certifications to become a network analyst.

I was in an HVAC job before I joined NPower. I spoke to my friend about pursuing a computer science degree. He recommended that I look into NPower and take advantage of this opportunity. I’ve obtained my CompTIA A+ and IT Fundamentals certification. Once I graduate, I plan to become an IT analyst.

Prior to NPower, I was looking for a job in the IT field. While looking online for desktop support jobs on Indeed, I came across the NPower program and thought this could help me get my foot in the door. Within a few days, I received a call to come in for an interview. The whole process was fast and easy. I liked how the staff was very friendly and they truly cared about my success. My instructors always pushed me to do my best and to always strive for more. I learned that hard work really does pay off and anyone can do the impossible. After graduation, I hope to obtain more certifications and to become a systems administrator.

I chose to apply for the program because I needed certifications to advance my IT career. I found out about NPower from a friend that works for Baltimore Parks and Recreation in the IT department. During my time with NPower, I learned a lot about myself including that I am both an auditory and visual learner. I look forward to accomplishing great things in the future thanks to NPower. After graduation, I would like to work with custom-built PCs.

Before joining NPower, I was a supervisor at an airport parking company. I worked 50-60 hours per week and felt stagnant in a position where there was no opportunity for growth. I was introduced to the program by my boyfriend, who is a NPower graduate. I decided to apply because I wanted to have a job that would allow me to support my parents in the future. There were many personal challenges I faced during the program, including finding time to study, finding time to get enough sleep, and dealing with a lack of a work/life balance. Through these challenges, I’ve discovered new things about myself and what I want out of life. Seeing the growth in myself and my peers has been the most enjoyable part of this experience. After graduation, I plan to pursue the Network+, Security+, and other security certifications. I aim to become a systems administrator for the government by the end of next year.

I was working various jobs before I joined NPower and was tired of feeling like I wasn’t getting anywhere in life. I wanted to pursue a career in technology but didn’t know how to go about it. A coworker told me about NPower and I decided to look into it. I liked what the program had to offer and applied a few days after. NPower not only taught me technology but also professionalism. I plan to use my tech skills to become a successful business owner and improve my community.
