California is the world’s fifth-largest economy and Treasurer Ma is the state’s primary banker. Presently, her office processes more than $3 trillion in banking transactions. She provides transparency and oversight for the government’s investment portfolio and accounts, as well as for the state’s surplus funds. Treasurer Ma oversees an investment portfolio that currently averages over $200 billion—a significant portion of which is beneficially owned by more than 2,200 local governments in California. She serves as agent of sale for all State bonds and is trustee of billions of dollars of state indebtedness.

ITSS Spring ‘22
Before joining NPower, I actively pursued opportunities in customer service and management roles to gain valuable experience in project management. In 2022, I successfully completed my Master's degree in business administration with a specialization in project management, which opened new doors for me. It was through the Work for Warrior Military Veteran transition program that I discovered NPower and realized it was the perfect platform to expand my skill set and enhance my potential for greater management opportunities. Although I had no prior knowledge or experience in IT, I took on the challenge and enrolled in the rigorous 18-week program at NPower. Through their comprehensive technical training and professional development, I gained the necessary credentials and expertise to thrive as an IT professional. Now, I am excited to embark on a new chapter as a Project Manager at FEMA and at CNA Financial Corporation as a Risk Control Analyst. I owe my success to the exceptional support and guidance provided by NPower.

Before NPower, I served as the IT Support Specialist at Honey Birdette Inc. As a technician, my responsibilities were to maintain computer systems, installs, configurations, hardware & software, and solve any technical issues for 30 plus retail locations worldwide. After successfully landing two entry level IT positions, I was in need of additional skill sets and certifications to validate my knowledge and value. A fellow veteran informed me NPower was a great organization offering IT courses, multiple certifications, and a great panel of mentors and colleagues. I took my fellow veterans' advice, which I am quite pleased with the management structure and curriculum offered to veterans. Throughout the program, I have gained valuable IT knowledge and obtained many certifications to add to my resume. Thanks to the professional development component, I have also acquired a better understanding of how I must present myself in a professional setting. With the skills I obtained from the program, I aspire to implement them in a full-time IT position.
