Celebrating Children’s Mental Health WeekAkshata Murty’s Visit

Central Park Primary School

On Tuesday 7th February, Central Park Primary School were delighted to mark Children’s Mental Health week, by showcasing what they do every day with the Prime Minister’s wife, Akshata Murty. The school was recommended by ELFT NHS to No. 10, as a school that has an embedded, whole-school mental health offer.

Mrs Murty met with staff, colleagues from NHS, parents and of course the wonderful children. She was impressed by the systems the school had in place, e.g. their fantastic pastoral workers, and consistent links with other agencies such as the NHS, CAMHS, Head Start, and local charities like Being The Cure that supports children’s mental health through character education.

Ms Murty concluded that the parents were ‘evangelical’ about the school and it would be great to bottle what the school has, to share with others.

She wrote to the school afterwards, stating: “The work you are doing to enhance children’s mental health left me moved and inspired... Your engagement with the parental community, as an extension of the school, was also incredible to see. You are indeed raising ‘the whole child’.”
