Background

Why Issuu?

I was born in Braga in 1982 and I've lived in the city until 2014 except for a 6 months period in 1986 when me and my family moved to Angola while my father was setting up mainframes for the local Ministry of Finance.

I was introduced to Issuu back in 2012 when I joined the Futebol Portugal project, an amateur magazine focused on the Portuguese league that used the platform for publishing and distribution. Years went by, I stopped collaborating in 2014 and then, last January, I got a phone call from an employment agency saying they thought my profile was a perfect fit for this vacancy they had. To my surprise - and satisfaction - it was Issuu once again.

I've studied in my home city until I graduated in Communication Studies (with a major in Journalism) in 2005. A few years later, between 2008 and 2011, I went back to the same University for a Master's degree in Community Policies and Territorial Cooperation – eventually, it became a Specialization, as I never wrote the final thesis. In this degree I have also had the chance to study abroad, as it was co-organized by Universidade do Minho (PT) and Universidad de Vigo (ES), with classes taking place in both institutions. My hobbies revolve around books, music, photography, gaming, TV series and travelling. As for interests, these include football (the soccer type), aviation and exact sciences.

As the recruitment process evolved, I and more in tune with the image of philosophy, the multiculturality, the everything was falling into place experience and expectations.

started to feel more the company - the collaborative spirit, with my previous

I started to feel that Issuu would be the ideal place to put my experience into practice and play an impactful role in the life of one of the most well know players in its market. My goal is to learn as much as possible about the product and absorb as much knowledge as I can from the different teams to start turning today’s Customer Success into tomorrow’s Issuu’s Success.

Favorite music and why? It’s usually hard to find an explanation for a passion and music is no exception. The first album that I bought, about 30 years ago, was one of those hit compilations that music labels would release just in time for Christmas. I guess Spotify sort of killed the mood for those melting pots of pop, easy listening and commercial rock. And perhaps it was for the best. The transition into the “noughties”, the 00 decade, got me in touch with a dimension I hadn’t even grasped until them. Through a friend, I started diving into the wonders of heavier riffs, syncopated kick drums and all sorts of growling. And while the simple idea of these elements may keep most audiences at bay, these songs perfectly filled the void for hard, complex melodic structures I had started to notice in pop. Ever since, it has been a journey of delving into one sub-genre after the other, trying to find what works and what doesn’t to keep my musical needs in order. High-pitch growls? No, thanks! Operatic arrangements? I’ll take some. Dark, melodic hymns? Please keep them coming! Nowadays, I can confidently say I’m a proud member of the Melodic Death Metal team (spooky name, brilliant music) with a strong inclination towards the Gothenburg scene and all things made in Finland. Scandinavia is music to my ears.

In a nutshell Thought you’d escape the good old corporate presentation? Well, there was a blank spot down here that was just begging for it. Bear with me – this won’t take long: My name is Eduardo, I’m 40 years old and I come from Braga, the third largest city of Portugal. I graduated in Communication Studies in 2005 but since then I have always worked in customer-oriented roles, both presential and remote. I started as a Store Assistant at Staples, in 2006, and became an Apple Advisor three years later. In 2014, I moved to Sweden to work as an IT Consultant at Tetra Pak and moved back to Portugal one year later to join The Linde Group as a senior clerk for Spain, providing back- and front-office support to the sales department and external customers. In 2017, I was appointed Process Trainer for the center and promoted to Training and Development Specialist the following year. When I left the company, in the summer of 2020, I had trained nearly 200 employees, providing initial and continuous guidance for the Portuguese, Spanish, Dutch and French teams. Looking for a fresh (re)start in my career, I was recruited by Fujitsu in April 2021 to join their shared IT service desk as a Spanish-English agent, working for multiple customers supported by the company. And now, as you already know, I’m here to help shape Issuu’s success through Customer Success. Let’s get started.
