The many attractions and short wait times of Europa Park in Rust, Germany make it number one on my list. Story and photos by Patrick Carnahan, Senior at Naples High School

Summer is here, and it goes without saying that everybody is looking for something to do while the weather is warm. Europe is worldrenowned for its vacation destinations, from the beaches of Spain to the mountains of Switzerland. While trips in Paris or Amsterdam can be lots of fun, perhaps you or someone you know is looking for a more

exciting getaway. Thankfully, some of the best amusement parks in the world are right here in Europe, and I’m here to tell you a little bit about the five European theme parks that can most effectively cure your case of cabin-fever.

#5 Gardaland - Castelnuovo del Garda, Italy

Lake Garda near Verona, Gardaland is one of Europe’s most popular amusement parks. It offers many things to do, including several roller coasters, two unique dark rides, three great water rides, and even a separate admission aquarium. Gardaland’s signature attraction is Raptor, a first-of-its-kind wing coaster that gives riders the sensation of flying on a bird’s wings.

MWR’s Summer Reading Program in Full Swing By MC2 Caitlin Feddersen, Navy Public Affairs Support Element-East Detachment Europe

Parents and children participated in the MWR hosted Bowl for Kids, a bowling event for kids participating in the Naval Support Activity (NSA) Naples Summer Reading Program, July 11. The current 244 reading program participants are broken up into two groups; the junior globetrotters for age’s 3 to 7 and the senior globetrotters for ages 8 to 13. The program features prizes for those who reach reading goals throughout the summer. “This is an incentive-driven program,” said Ciro Giordano, Support Site library supervisor. “I’m very happy to see that it keeps growing and that the community response has

been so overwhelming.” Weekly events vary but include activities at the library such as story time, movie screenings at the Support Site theater and bowling days. Events in addition to the reading program help get kids out and about, physically active and mingling with children their age during the long summer break. “Summer reading programs are valuable not only in building a lifelong love of reading, but as a means for families and children to spend time together, an especially important aspect for military families,” said Giordano. The theme for this year’s reading program is “Have Book, Will Travel.” Sponsored by the Department of Defense with content developed by iREAD, it reaches thousands

Base Notes

Reminder: Claiming Lost and Found Items

Earlier this week, I held a town hall meeting at Support Site to discuss current issues with the I always community. appreciate the feedback I am able to receive from these meetings, which are an opportunity for me to hear directly from you. Of course, the city of Gricignano’s new recycling program remains an ongoing issue as we determine the right number and type of bins and learn the new sorting procedures. We're not quite there yet, and I have asked the city for additional trash receptacles to be placed back in the collection areas, as it seems most are consistently overfull. We are also looking at expanding the trash areas so more receptacles can be placed in each location. I appreciate the concerted effort that the entire Support Site community is putting forward to make sure we get this right. There is still a learning curve, and there will always be improvements we can make, but I am confident in the long-term success of this program. In addition to the trash and recycling expansion, we have several other upgrades planned for on-base housing. We were able to purchase new awnings with funding from last fiscal year. These awnings will begin being installed soon at each housing unit, but it will take several months to complete. Many of the older playground areas will soon be given a facelift as well, and there should be additional painting and maintenance throughout the Support Site in the coming months. We are currently in a direct-assignment situation and under a budget crunch. That doesn't mean, however, that we're not constantly looking for areas we can improve, or ways we can leverage the little money we do have to get the biggest bang for the buck for residents. We have several MWR updates in the works as well, including for Reel Times Movie Theater at the Support Site. This fall, you should be able to purchase tickets online and print them out at a self-service kiosk in the lobby. We are also looking at installing self-serve vending machines in the lobby, all aimed at faster lines into the theater. The library at Capo is currently being transformed into an internet cafe, with about 5,000 books and plenty of comfortable seating in a relaxed atmosphere. We are even taking a look at turning a portion of the Capo gym into an unmanned, 24-hour fitness center, accessible with a swipe card for cardio and other solo-use equipment. The MWR is an area where we do have a little financial flexibility. If you have a great idea about a program or improvement, share it. I said it Tuesday at the meeting, but I love living at the Support Site. This is an awesome community with great activities and ways to get involved, either through organizations or spending time at the pool, the bowling alley, or catching a movie. I hope everyone will take some time this weekend to enjoy the wonderful options we have to offer.

The Command Investigation Division would like to remind everyone that they have multiple items in their lost and found that have not been claimed. New Recycling Receptacles Delivered to Support Site Residences New color-coded recycling receptacles have been placed at all trash collection points at Support Site. Please make an effort to minimize the size of plastics and cardboards by breaking them down before putting them in the bins. Orange containers have also been placed around the Support Site for recycling clothing as more than half of the clothes donated to the NOSC are not sellable. These clothes will be diverted from landfills and sent to a charity. More information on the recycling process was distributed to each residence via a trifold flyer, along with biodegradable bags and cooking oil collection containers, from the Housing office. Questions or concerns regarding the new recycling program can be addressed to Lt. Peter Smagur at DSN 629-4670 or 081-811-4670.

A nature park near Perugia will celebrate the arrivals of a pair of rare white donkeys this weekend with games and donkey-themed activities. The albino donkey is native of the island of Sardina and is a protected species. The first of the rare Sardinian donkeys, a 20-yearold mare, arrived in the Umbrian park that celebrates its 50-year anniversary this year, in the 1980s when only a very few of the breed remained. Other Sardinian donkeys donated to the park arrived and have begun to breed through a conservation project conducted in collaboration with the University of Perugia’s Faculty of Medicine and Veterinary and the Equestrian Institute of Ozieri, in Sardinia.

Officials said the floor will be visible to the public for two-month period this summer after the huge success of last year’s opening. During summer openings, visitors are permitted to walk along a well-defined route, taking them around the church to admire the hexagon shapes under the cupola, and the mosaics close to the altar underneath the stunning Domenico Beccafumi frescos that decorate the cathedral.

In the last two years, exports grew by 20-30 percent, said Gianluca Mirabassi, president of the local textile union. He stressed that his sector depends on Italy’s young workforce. Young people are important target in their production in order to pass down the craftsmanship since most of the work remains manual, he said.

Furious Baco flies by the bay of Italy at PortAventura.

With a nearby resort hotel and beautiful views of the surrounding area, Gardaland offers the best all-around theme park experience in Italy. To sum it up: An awesome family park with great rides. For more information, visit www.gardaland. it/resort-en/.

#4 Phantasialand – Brühl, Germany About 30 minutes south of Cologne by car If the theme of a park is priority, then Phantasialand is one of the best parks you can visit in Europe! Phantasialand has six very well-themed areas, each with its own dragon mascot and delicious cuisine. The park is home to Black Mamba, an intense inverted roller coaster that slithers beneath the park, Colorado Adventure, a great mine-train roller coaster which was opened by Michael Jackson, and Winjas, a unique two-track spinning coaster (one of the few that won’t really get you feeling too dizzy). If you visit Phantasialand, be sure to stay in one of the two amazing onsite resort hotels. To sum it up: Outstanding theme, a great inverted coaster, and surprisingly good theme park food. For more information, visit www.phantasialand. de/en/.

#3 PortAventura Park - Salou, Spain About one hour south of Barcelona by car A former Universal Studios property, PortAventura has quickly established itself as one of Europe’s premier vacation destinations. The park is beautifully themed and has an impressive lineup of attractions for all ages. Standouts include Hurakan Condor, a 330ft tall drop tower, Dragon Khan, a steel roller coaster with eight inversions, and Shambhala, which debuted last year as the tallest roller coaster in Europe at 249ft. With 4 resort hotels and several nearby golf courses and beaches in Salou, PortAventura offers you a truly comprehensive Mediterranean getaway experience. To sum it up: A great park to visit if you have an extra day in Barcelona; perhaps it’s even worth its own trip! For more information visit www. portaventura.co.uk/.

#2 Disneyland Paris - Marne-la-Vallée, France Around one hour east of Paris Just East of La Ville-Lumière, you’ll find the allAmerican experience of Disneyland, but with a French twist. The two parks that make up the resort, Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios, are home to many Disney classics such as It’s A Small World, Tower of Terror, and Big Thunder Mountain. However, unique rides like Space Mountain: Mission 2 (the only launched Space Mountain at any Disney park), Indiana Jones et le Temple du Péril, and Crush’s Coaster can also be found. As is the case with every Disney park, you’re guaranteed to find spectacular theming with an unmatched attention-to-detail. To sum it up: Another Disney wonder! For more information visit www.disneylandparis.co.uk.

#1 Europa Park - Rust, Germany About two hours southeast of Stuttgart Located between Strasbourg, France, and Freiburg, Germany, Europa Park truly surprised me in every way. It was actually built to showcase the best rides of German amusement manufacturer Mack while celebrating the cultural diversity of Europe. As a result, you’re able to experience topnotch theme, a huge variety of food, tons of shows, five on-site resort hotels with early entry to the park and, best of all, excellent rides for all ages with unbelievably short wait times. It’s difficult to describe the wonders that Europa Park offers in a single paragraph, so I really hope you’re willing to take a trip to Germany to experience the park for yourself! To sum it up: The best theme park in Europe! I’m surprised that admission costs less than Disney! For more information www.europapark.de. Whether you enjoy a relaxing stroll through paradise or an adrenaline-pumping roller coaster ride, I hope this provides you with a future vacation destination. Make sure to check out the websites listed next to each park to learn more. Have a great summer!

Sea Breeze 2013 Participants Conduct Amphibious Landing for Disaster Relief Demonstration By MC2 Jason Howard, U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa, U.S. 6th Fleet Public Affairs

Multinational partners participating in Exercise Sea Breeze 2013 conducted an amphibious landing operation demonstration in Odessa, Ukraine in support of simulated disaster relief activities, July 11. As the Ukrainian PTS-2 amphibious assault vehicles deployed into the water toward Ukrainian navy vessel Konstantin Olshanski (U 402), invited local and national Ukrainian media observed the demonstration in order to understand better what this exercise is about, and were given an opportunity to speak to some of the exercise participants. "This is my second time to participate in Exercise Sea Breeze," said Operations Specialist 1st Class Jonathan Mitchell. "I have already seen vast improvements over last year's exercise - especially in communication." Making continued improvements in operating together is one reason for exercises such as Sea Breeze 13. The local media saw how the multinational troops would handle one method of delivering disaster relief supplies were one to occur in real time. "In this simulation, our troops are assisting a

simulated neutral nation in disaster relief efforts after an earthquake," said Ukrainian Rear Adm. Denis Berezovsky, exercise director. "This is just one of many simulations to come during Sea Breeze 2013." Working together to streamline this and other scenarios is key to protecting nations in the Black Sea region, according to U.S. Navy Capt. James Aiken, exercise deputy director. "The partnerships we have developed over the course of this exercise will pay dividends for a long time," said Aiken. "The exercise this year is more complex than previous years in that, in addition to the other training exercises, the coalition will conduct simulated humanitarian assistance and disaster relief." This year's participants include Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Canada, Georgia, Germany, Italy, Romania, Turkey, Ukraine and U.S., along with France, Germany, Libya, Lithuania, Qatar, and UAE, as observers. Sea Breeze 13, an annual multinational exercise in the Black Sea, is a combined air, land and maritime exercise designed to improve maritime safety, security and stability in the Black Sea by enhancing the capabilities of Partnership for Peace and Black Sea regional maritime security forces.

C6F Visits uSS Bainbridge during Stop in Naples By MC2 Caitlin Feddersen, Navy Public Affairs Support Element-East Detachment Europe

Vice Adm. Frank C. Pandolfe, commander of U.S. 6th Fleet, visited the guided-missile destroyer USS Bainbridge (DDG 96), July 11, while the ship made a port call to Naples, Italy. The destroyer departed its homeport of Norfolk, Va. June 14 and will remain in the Naval Forces Europe-Africa theater for the dura-

tion of its deployment, supporting maritime security and theater security cooperation objectives. During his visit, Pandolfe spoke with Bainbridge leadership and met with Sailors as he toured the ship. "Bainbridge has a very important mission," said Pandolfe. "I commend our Sailors for the preparation that has taken place to serve in this theater and look forward to seeing great things from them." According to the ship's leader-

ship, the crew is ready for the mission ahead over the next several months. "Team Bainbridge embraces the deployment we have in front of us and looks forward to our current maritime security operation tasking to include strengthening relations with our allied partners," said Cmdr. David J. Pearson, commanding officer of Bainbridge. "We view every day at sea as an opportunity to sharpen our warfighter skills in order to be fully ready for any crisis or challenging assignment requiring Bainbridge's response." While touring the ship, Pandolfe stopped in central control station to congratulate Bainbridge's Sailor of the Year, Electrician's Mate 1st Class (SW/AW) Michael Smith, on his recent selection as a limited duty officer. "I very much enjoyed getting the opportunity to meet Vice Adm. Pandolfe," said Smith. "I was honored to be a representative of Bainbridge engineering, and was very proud to be able to talk about my recent selection for the [Limited Duty Officer] program." Bainbridge, homeported in Norfolk, Va., is deployed to the U.S. 6th Fleet area of responsibility in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts.

Liberty Center Offers Entertainment Opportunities for Single Sailors By MC2 Josh Bennett, Navy Public Affairs Support ElementEast Detachment Europe

The Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Liberty Center at Capodichino provides year-round entertainment for single Sailors in the Naples community. “Our goal is to create positive, healthy, recreational choices for the unaccompanied Sailors at NSA Naples,” said Staci Dietrich, Liberty Center entertainment manager. The center hosts video game and board game nights, pool and ping pong tournaments, and offers free Wi-Fi. While the center is not authorized to take Sailors on overnight trips, they do offer day trips to give them a chance to go out and learn more about Naples. “We offer around four day trips a month,” said Dietrich. “We have local Neapolitans on staff that go along on the trips as guides to help the Sailors get the best experience possible.”

Learning the ins and outs of the Naples community isn’t the only benefit these trips offer. “I went on a few of the day trips when I first arrived here,” said Master-at-Arms Seaman Apprentice Jesse Smith, assigned to Naval Support Activity Naples

Security. “It’s not just a fun way to see some of the city, but also a good way to meet new people.” The Liberty Center is open daily and offers a variety of entertainment options for Sailors during operating hours. The center has two pool tables, a ping pong table,

a movie room, a video game room, arcade games and computers available for use for the unaccompanied Sailors in the community. “We are always looking for new ideas to improve our ability to provide for the Sailors here,” said Dietrich. “We encourage any and all ideas

from anybody in this community. The more input and participation we receive from the community, the more we can provide for the community.” Stop in or give the Liberty Center a call if you have ideas you would like to share or if you would like more information.

MWR’S SUMMER Continued from Page 1

“The benefit I’ve seen for all the children at my daycare is that their parents are active with them during the course of the program. They now read to their kids at home and it helps brings everyone together.” Upon registering, participants received a kit of supplies that included a book bag, book log, bookmarks, sheet of stickers and a pencil. Children in the different age groups must read a certain number of books or a certain number of hours in order to receive prizes. Giordano said parents from previous years have told him they see significant improvement in their children’s reading level. “So they actually see their children do a lot better the following school year in reading and comprehension,” said Giordano. “But it’s not just that parents see their children doing better in school, it’s also the fact that kids have fun participating in this program.” Community members are welcome to stop by or call the Support Site library for more information on MWR’s Summer Reading Program.

9-Digit ZIP Codes Mandatory for FPOs By Debbie Dortch, NAVSUP Corporate Communications

Effective immediately, family, friends, and businesses sending mail to Navy mobile units must use a nine-digit ZIP code to ensure delivery, according to an ALNAV message released July 12 by Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus. Mail not addressed correctly, including mail already en route, will be returned to the sender as undeliverable. "Every mobile unit - ships, squadrons, detachments, et cetera - has a unique nine-digit ZIP code," said Naval Supply Systems Command Postal Policy Division Director Thomas Rittle. "Commanding officers will provide the correct ZIP codes to Sailors so they can notify their correspondents about the new address requirement." According to the message, "The United States Postal Service (USPS) is resizing military mail processing operations from two coastal locations to one located in Chicago, Ill. to gain efficiencies in military mail delivery. As part of this effort, new procedures affecting configuration of mobile Fleet Post Office (FPO) addresses have been implemented to completely leverage automated mail sorting equipment and reduce manual sorting workload." USPS automated equipment is set up to read the nine-digit ZIP code separated with a dash between the first five digits and the last four digits.

The nine-digit ZIP code is required for all classes of mail. The ALNAV message is available at http://www.public.navy.mil/bupers-npc/reference/messages/Documents/ALNAVS/ALN2013/A LN13047.txt. ZIP codes are a system of postal codes used by the United States Postal Service (USPS) since 1963. The term ZIP is an acronym for Zone Improvement Plan. All U.S. addresses have a standard five-digit ZIP code that informs the postal service of the area of the country and the post office where mail is received. In 1983, the USPS added four digits to ZIP codes to help further pinpoint a recipient's location. The NAVSUP and Navy Supply Corps team share one mission-to deliver sustained global logistics and quality-of-life support to the Navy and joint warfighter. NAVSUP/Navy Supply Corps' diverse team of more than 25,000 civilian and military personnel oversee a diverse portfolio including supply chain management for material support to Navy, Marine Corps, joint and coalition partners, supply operations, conventional ordnance, contracting, resale, fuel, transportation, security assistance, and quality of life issues for our naval forces, including food service, postal services, Navy Exchanges, and movement of household goods. The NAVSUP/Navy Supply Corps team forms a vast network of professionals who deliver unparalleled products and services to customers in the Fleet and across the world.

Navy Wounded Warriors Selected for Elite Athletic Competitions From Navy Wounded Warrior Safe Harbor Public Affairs Several Navy wounded warrior athletes have been chosen to represent the U.S. at the 2014 Paralympics and the 2013 International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Athletics World Championships. In May, retired Navy Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Tyler Burdick was named a member of the 2013-14 U.S. Paralympics Snowboard National Team, which is the first national team in the sport. In June, retired Navy Master-at-Arms Seaman Steven Hancock and retired Navy Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Max Rohn were selected to compete in track and field at the 2013 IPC Athletics World Championships July 19-28 in Lyon, France. "We are immeasurably proud of our athletes and their incredible achievements," said Navy Wounded Warrior (NWW) - Safe Harbor director Capt. Steve Hall. "Our wounded warriors are wonderful representatives for our country. In addition to their phenomenal athletic skills, they have demonstrated determination, resiliency and heart throughout their military careers and personal journeys towards recovery."

NWW - the Navy's support program for seriously wounded, ill and injured Sailors and Coast Guardsmen - sponsors Team Navy at the annual Warrior Games in Colorado Springs, Colo. All three athletes are enrolled in the program and previously have competed on behalf of Team Navy. Burdick, a combat-wounded veteran, has been snowboarding for most of his life. He was first introduced to adaptive snowboarding last year, when he began volunteering for the National Ability Center's ski program in Park City, Utah. He competed in the NorAm National Cup in January, where he took ninth place. He followed that achievement with a second-place finish at the National Championships in July. Burdick was wounded in Afghanistan July 2010 when his armored vehicle struck a roadside bomb, which resulted in serious injuries to both of his feet. After undergoing multiple limb-salvage efforts, Burdick resigned himself to a future as an amputee. In October 2011, however, he was fitted with new, cutting-edge braces - Intrepid Dynamic Exoskeletal Orthoses that redefined his abilities and allowed him to keep his limbs.

Becoming part of the Paralympic team was the realization of a lifelong dream. "I used to swim when I was younger, and I always hoped that one day I might go to the Olympics," said Burdick. "I'm so excited. It hasn't really even hit me yet. I wasn't planning for this at all, but snowboarding is a sport I am really passionate about." Hancock - an open water scuba instructor who works with military veterans - also began seriously training a year ago in seated shot put and discus. Hancock seized gold in both events at the Warrior Games in May and earned top honors in both sports at the recent University of Central Oklahoma Endeavor Games. Hancock, who hails from Pueblo, Colo., was injured while deployed in 2009. He suffers from lower-body paralysis and uses a wheelchair.

Upon learning that he would compete at the World Championships, he began lifting weights six days a week and throwing three days a week, focusing on building strength and improving his form. "I'm pumped up and a little nervous [about the upcoming competition]. This is my first time competing against athletes from other countries," said Hancock. "But I am going to turn that nervousness into pushing hard and training. Making it to this level is a dream come true." After making his mark at the World Championships, Hancock hopes to contend for a spot on the 2016 U.S. Paralympic track and field team. He works regularly with Team Navy coach Kent Pagel to improve his skills. "From watching and analyzing footage of my competitions, to fitting me with a new chair, Coach

Pagel is helping me every step of the way," he said. Rohn, a below-the-knee amputee, was wounded in Iraq in 2009 when his Humvee was struck by a rocketpropelled grenade. Answer to last week’s puzzle

The number of positive results for synthetic drug in urinalysis tests has decreased significantly since testing began in March 2012, according to data presented to Navy leaders by Navy Alcohol and Drug Prevention (NADAP) office. For the past year the NADAP office has focused on educating Sailors on the risks to their health, career, and family, of using synthetic drugs like spice and bath salts. "We consider this a win for all Sailors," said Dorice Favorite, NADAP director, about the decreased in positive results. "It means they are listening to facts and making responsible choices for themselves and their shipmates." "The reasons for the decline are multi-dimensional," said Favorite. "Sailors understand the Navy has zero tolerance for drug use, including the use of designer and synthetic chemical compounds. Our education efforts sent a clear message that synthetic drugs are not regulated; therefore, they may be up to 200 times more potent than marijuana and much more harmful." Educating Sailors on the danger of illegal drug use is a multi-organizational effort. "NADAP partnered with Navy's Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, Naval Criminal Investigative Service, and other U.S. military law enforcement agencies to monitor for criminal activity, including possession, use, or distribution of illegal substances," the director said. There is also encouraging news in the responsible use of alcohol efforts. "During the past year, driving under the influence and alcohol-related incidents (AI) have continued to drop. The number of these incidents is down by more than 20 percent since 2006," said Favorite. The NADAP office contributes to this improvement through a comprehensive communication strategy that includes complimentary prevention aware-

ness campaigns that reach out to all audiences, she added. In April 2013, the Navy launched "Keep What You've Earned" campaign to replace the outdated "Right Spirit" campaign. Keep What You've Earned encourages responsible alcohol use by celebrating the achievements in the Sailor's Navy careers and actively engages Sailors as advocates for responsible drinking. This campaign in concert with "The Domino Strategy", "Who Will Stand Your Watch" and "That Guy" speaks to Sailors about responsible drinking and accountability. In mid- 2013, the Navy implemented the use of handheld alcohol detection devices. More than 13,000 devices were shipped to commands, both afloat and ashore. These devices are intended as a tool that

complements the unit's campaign against irresponsible alcohol use and promotes Sailor safety, education and training. The ADD also helps leadership identify Sailors who may require positive intervention before a career-ending incident. NADAP plans to publish a report of lessons learned and best practices submitted by commands in January 2014. NADAP has had a very busy year, developing programs on synthetic drug testing, alcohol detection device distribution and implementation, and prevention awareness campaigns for a prescription drug campaign that is currently under development, Favorite stated. "We feel that every effort we expend on the front end to prevent a Sailor from misusing or abusing a sub-

Energy Conservation More Promise for Electric Vehicles’ High Performance Future From the NSA Naples Energy Management Team Last month we mentioned a Lightning electric SuperBike that defeated a Ducati at Pikes Peak. To continue in the spirit of electric vehicles (EV) and their progress in racing, I present to you the B12/69 EV. The B12/69 EV is a former Biofuel Le Mans Race Car built by Drayson Racing Technologies of Oxfordshire, England. Last month it broke the record for the fastest EV land speed record. It set a speed of 204.2 mph compared to the previous 175mph set in 1974 by Battery Box General Electric. What makes the B12/69 EV special is the fact that its drive train is entirely electric and was fitted to an Le Mas Proto Type (LMP) chassis. The kicker is that you now have a 200mph capable race car that makes 0 emissions! Why make such a big deal about it? About 90% of the things that makes your current car special were developed in racing, such as fuel injection, anti-lock

brakes, and even power steering. Therefore, to see the same sort of effort be invested into electric vehicles is amazing. The lessons learned and technologies developed very well may be the thing that helps put the “cool” into being green. Drayson Racing Technologies now plans to take what they have learned with the B12/69 EV and apply it to racing in 2014 during the FIA Formula E (Electric) Championship. Since EV race cars don’t make any noise at all, there is potential for some interesting race circuits where there may have been noise restrictions in the past with conventional race cars. Between the Lighting EV Super Bike and now Drayson Racing Technologies Prototype Le Mas car, the future of EV transportation looks very promising.

Obtaining your Sojourner Permit Italian law requires all foreign personnel working or living within Italy, other than an active-duty member under military orders, to obtain a Sojourner Permit within eight days of arrival in Italy. This is different from a visa, which is merely an approval for entry into the country. All applicants over 14 years of age must apply in person, as each person's signature is required at the time of application. NATIONALS OF ANY STATE OF THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITY COMING TO ITALY DO NOT REQUIRE ANY VISA OR SOJOURNER PERMIT. As part of the Area Orientation process, the U.S. Region Legal Service Office (RLSO EURAFSWA) assists in the preparation and oversees the acquisition of the Sojourner Permit for all personnel attached to U.S. Navy commands in the Naples area. Army and Air Force personnel stationed at JFC must apply through the Carabiniere at the JFC Provost Marshall's Office, Building L. Contact Connie Henderson, RLSO EURAFSWA liaison advisor, at 081-5684639 for more information.
