The "No Zebras. No Excuses.' program is a bystander-intervention program, and it's meant to teach people how to recognize a situation that may result in an assault and how to make the decision of whether or not

to intervene and act," said Jill Loftus. The group performed three times and are scheduled for two more shows Aug. 29 in order to accommodate the number of Sailors assigned to the Naples area, including a detachment in Gaeta, Italy. The program, created at Central Michigan University, is a one-hour presentation comprised of skits by actors who are trained sexual assault response coordinators and counselors. They bring to life real examples of sexual assault, bystander intervention, domestic abuse and harassment, both physical and verbal, while providing important

information on sexual assaults and avenues for victims of sexual assault. "Most service members are used to the Power Point presentations of sexual assault, so we created a program that would be more interactive and more intimate with the age groups of the highest percentage of sexual assault victims," said Loftus. The training was established as part of an initiative by Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus to raise awareness on sexual assault and provide information on sexual assault prevention. Maintain Preparedness for Increased Force Protection Measures

Labor Day Weekend has arrived, and with it, the end of 100 days of summer. With the cooler temperatures of this last week and a four day weekend upon us, I’d like to take this opportunity to remind everyone to be mindful of using proper Operational Risk Management (ORM) when planning trips or activities for the long weekend. As is all too fresh in everyone’s mind, we have had two traffic deaths this year. Please, use extra caution on the roadways. If you have a long distance trip planned behind the wheel, break it up over several segments, or alternate drivers within a group. This is a great opportunity to get out and enjoy the last days of summer. Plan ahead and do so safely and smartly. Safety and security is not only something to consider when traveling, however; though we find ourselves in such a beautiful setting as southern Italy, we cannot afford to get lax with procedures and awareness. Remember S5I: see something suspicious, say something immediately. We continue to operate in an ever-changing global environment, which can have unexpected impacts to force protection conditions and base security. Be prepared for proper entry procedures at the gate, including having two photo IDs ready. Be patient as security does an exemplary job of keeping us all safe. As most everyone should know, this week Naples hosted Central Michigan University’s performance of “No Zebras,” a SAPR training initiative aimed at junior personnel, but with takeaway for all hands. Ms. Jill Loftus, head of the Department of the Navy’s Sexual Assault Prevention and Response’s Office, also visited NSA as part of the tour, and we had the opportunity to sit down for a discussion. We remain one team, one fight when it comes to preventing sexual assault. While we have had a focused effort on training and awareness of sexual assault, it continues to be a problem in the Navy. It is up to each and every one of us to stand up and do the right thing when the time comes, most notably through bystander intervention. S5I doesn’t only apply to terror activity or threats to base security – we all need to be concerned about the security of all our sailors, civilians and contractors. We have to depend on each other. Do the right thing when it counts, not merely when it is convenient. Take care of one another as we enjoy the long weekend. The weather promises to be beautiful. Get out and enjoy all that Naples, Italy, and Europe have to offer.

Navy Lodge Naples Missing Luggage Carts The Navy Lodge Naples located at the NSA Naples Support Site Village Forum complex is missing several new luggage carts. These luggage carts belong to the Navy Lodge Naples and are intended for use by Active Duty service members and families who are PCS'ing in and out of NSA Naples to transport their luggage while they are in transition without a car. The luggage carts are stainless steel with a black carpet base. If community members see them around the support site please call the Navy Lodge at DSN 629-6289 or 081-813-3443.

Commander, Task Force 63/Military Sealift Command Europe and Africa (CTF-63/MSCEURAF), held a change of command ceremony at Naval Support Activity Naples, Aug. 21. Capt. John Rinko relieved Capt. Richard Soucie as commander. The guest speaker, Vice Adm. Frank C. Pandolfe, commander of U.S. 6th Fleet, acknowledged Soucie's many accomplishments during his command tour, which included control of all sea and air Navy logistics assets; prepositioning forces; special mission ships and strategic sealift capabilities throughout the U.S. 6th Fleet area of responsibility in Europe and Africa. "Commodore Soucie commands the room when he speaks and there is no doubt that CTF-63 is in the hands of a master; a Sailor who knows the sea as only time at sea can teach; a man who cares deeply about his people; and a leader focused on accomplishing the mission correctly, every time," said Pandolfe. Soucie, who will transfer to U.S. Central Command for a tour as MSC liaison officer to the combatant command, reflected on his tenure as the CTF-63/MSCEURAF commodore, and thanked his military and civilian staff members for the opportunity to lead them. "The complexity and impact of naval logistics has grown in response to changes in the diverse nature

of the forces we support, and the expansion of roles and missions," said Soucie. "The superb efforts have ensured that the warfighters on the front lines have fuel ashore, afloat and in the air. They have moved countless tons of cargo and equipment for stock replenishment, exercise support, and for real-world operations around the globe. I couldn't have handpicked a better group of individuals. They are a team of all-stars. CTF-63/MSCEURAF's new commander, who transferred to NSA Naples from San Diego, where he served as the force nuclear propulsion officer at Naval Air Force, Pacific, praised his new staff for the work they do. "Capt. Soucie, you've provided me with a great organization to take over,â&#x20AC;? said Rinko. â&#x20AC;&#x153;[CTF63/MSCEURAF] ensures that our fleet is ready to face the challenges of tomorrow. This group has established a reputation that is second to none, the best of the best. I'm anxious to roll up my sleeves and work with you." As CTF-63, his responsibilities will include coordinating and providing transportation and delivery of personnel, equipment, fuel, supplies, repair parts, mail, and ammunition via air and surface logistics assets - including MSC combat logistics force ships - to sustain U.S. forces in the European and African theaters. As MSCEURAF, he will be the area commander in Europe and Africa for MSC, exercising tactical control of all U.S. transportation command forces in the European and African theaters.

This annual observance celebrates the contributions women have made throughout history working toward full equality in the United States. Women's Equality Day was established by Congress in 1971 to commemorate the long struggle of generations of women to gain the right to vote. According to the National Women's History Project, while originally created to commemorate the passing of the 19th Amendment, the observance today recognizes the anniversary of women's suffrage and of the continued efforts toward equality. When the United States was founded, female citizens were denied basic rights as compared to the nation's male citizens. Married women could not own property, women had no legal claim to any money they might earn, and women did not have the right to vote. It was not until 1848 that the movement for women's rights was launched on a national level with a convention in Seneca Falls, New York. Before narrowing their political focus to women's rights, abolitionists Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott, known as "suffragists," along with Susan B. Anthony and other activists, formed organizations that raised public awareness and lobbied the government to grant voting rights to women. Fighting for the right to vote became a centerpiece of the women's rights movement. Women's official role in the Navy began in 1908, with the establishment of the Navy Nurse Corps. During World War I, the Naval Reserve Act of 1916 allowed for enlistment of qualified "persons." A year later, the Navy authorized the enlistment of women, designated as "Yeoman (F)," unofficially known as "Yeomanettes." Women serving in the Navy as Nurses and Yeomanettes served their nation before they had the right to vote. It was not until 72 years after the suffrage movement began that these groups emerged victorious with the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution on August 18, 1920. On Election Day that same year, more than 8 million women across the United States voted for the first time. Throughout the nation this past March, hundreds of college students and generations of women celebrated the centennial of the original Women's Suffrage Procession in Washington, D.C., March 3, 1913. Women who sought the right to vote dressed in Greek-style costumes or academic robes with "Votes for Women" sashes proudly displayed. Thousands of women marched from the United States Capitol down Pennsylvania Avenue to the front of the White House, the day before President Woodrow Wilson's inauguration. This event pushed women's suffrage into the national spotlight. This year also marked the 65th Anniversary of

the Women's Armed Services Integration Act, signed June 12, 1948, shortly after the end of World War II. This Act provided women permanent status in the United States Armed Services, although women had been serving unofficially since the American Revolutionary War. Before the establishment of the Continental Navy, numerous women served in the states' navies, including the galleys of the Pennsylvania Navy and as nurses in the Maryland Navy, laying the foundation for women's service onboard ships during the Civil War and the Spanish-American War. As women's roles in in the Navy continued to develop during the latter part of the 20th century, so did their progress toward equality. In 1973, the Navy authorized aviation training for women. It was also this same year that the Supreme Court ruled that inequities in benefits for the dependents of military women were unconstitutional, abolishing pregnancy as a reason for mandatory separation. Before 1973, military women with dependents were not authorized housing, and their dependents were ineligible for the benefits and privileges afforded the dependents of male military members, such as medical, commissary and post exchange. In 1975, Congress authorized admission of women to the military academies. Three years later, women were first assigned to supply and non-combatant ships. Women's opportunities in the Navy significantly increased in 1993 following the repeal of the combat exclusion law, which allowed officer and enlisted women to serve on combatant ships and in combat aviation. It was also during this same time period that the Navy conducted the first feasibility study on women entering submarine community. Seventeen years later, in 2010, Navy announced a policy change allowing female officers to serve on submarines. On Jan. 24, 2013, the Secretary of Defense and Joint Chiefs of Staff announced immediate rescission of 1994 Direct Ground Combat Definition and Assignment Rule. In accordance with the Secretary's guidance, Navy developed and submitted a plan to implement the rescission, through which Navy envisions no closed occupations, a very limited number of closed positions, and equal professional opportunity for females in every officer designator and enlisted rating in the Navy. Today, over 67,000 women serve in the Navy in the active and Reserve components, comprising 18 percent of the Total Force. There are currently 38 female flag officers, two female Fleet Master Chiefs, and one female Force Master Chief in the Navy. Additionally, nearly 50,000 women serve across the Navy in a wide range of specialties as civilian employees, with 67 female senior executive service members. All Navy commands are encouraged to reflect on and celebrate the accomplishments of women throughout the armed services during this observance. Navy and Marine Corps Public Health Center Launches Stress Reduction Tool for Sailors and Marines From Navy and Marine Corps Public Health Center, Public Affairs

The Navy and Marine Corps Public Health Center (NMCPHC) announced Aug. 27 the launch of their new web-based tool designed to help Sailors and Marines reduce psychological and physical wear and tear through deep relaxation and focus. Relax Relax, NMCPHC's online resource, offers techniques to help improve mood, performance and promote resilience while providing methods to manage stress. "We are excited to launch the Relax Relax tool for Sailors, Marines and their families." said Dr. Mark Long Psychological Health and Emotional Well-Being Coordinator of NMCPHC Health Promotion and Wellness (HPW) department. "This tool can be used by anyone in any number of situations, from the stressors a person faces day to day at home or work to the bigger challenges that affect their lives." The Relax Relax tool includes nine sections with relaxation techniques that are applied by listening to audio tracks. These tracks come from a variety of universities, organizations, and expert individuals, feature a variety of styles, music and voices to allow the user to select their preference. The main techniques include: • Breathing exercises: learning to breathe slowly and rhythmically, sometimes with a count or image. • Muscle relaxation techniques: learning to systematically tighten and release muscle groups throughout the body. • Imagery: picturing a certain image or task with detail given to the senses to allow mental focus. • Meditation and Mindfulness: mind-body techniques used to create inner calm. • Instrumental music: specifically selected to promote a state of relaxation or well-being. Military service members are showing an increased interest in complementary and alternative options for assistance with stress relief, anxiety, insomnia, mood, and general health. Energy Conservation Get Out of The Shower! From the NSA Naples Energy Management Team

Given the increase in rain lately, showers are probably on your mind. I’ve recently come across a few items to help you keep them under control. When I say showers, I mean the ones occurring inside your home of course. There has been a flood of new items in the market like shower stops and auto timers. Both items can help you cut the time down of your family “diva” or “rock star” and keep energy cost and waste down. Shower stops are an additional valve to be placed between the shower head and the flow pipe. This small valve allows the user to quickly stop and start the flow of water. This helps the user maintain a stop/start process between wetting, lathering, and rinsing. They are cheap and easy to install on virtually any preexisting shower system. Most Navy ships in the fleet have similar valves installed. An auto timer on the other hand does pretty much the same thing but without input from the user. They allow the user to take a shower the same as they normally would. The catch is after the preset wash time (anywhere from 5-8 minutes in some cases) it will cut the flow down to just enough to rinse with. This is probably the best idea for those who have trouble keeping tracking of time or sticking to the on-off method. In either case you create potential to save water and inevitably energy by cutting waste where you can. Together we can all do our part and live a little greener.

New All Hands Magazine Digital Archive Launched By MC2 David Cothran - Defense Media Activity

All Hands Magazine launched the new digital archive of print editions Aug. 19. All Hands has been the official magazine of the U.S. Navy since 1922, highlighting news and topics important to Sailors and their families. It was brought back as an online magazine at www.ah.mil in February, and the new archive design offers 89 years of an easyto-browse and download format. The new site will replace the existing archive that has been hosted at www.navy.mil since 2003. Visitors to the site will see a simplified menu to choose from any year of the magazine's print publication. Each year has a dedicated page displaying the covers from every issue offered that year. Users can also download electronic versions of the cover or the entire magazine using the links provided. "This new archive is a gift to generations of Sailors and their families who can now browse the history of our Navy during their years of service," said Rear Adm. John Kirby, the Navy Chief of Information. "The sharing of sea stories is something every Sailor holds dear. With this new format, we offer them all a history of Navy storytelling at its best."

When the magazine was first launched in 1922, it was simple typewritten copy. By the end of the printing in 2011, the magazine had become home to stateof-the-art digital photography and graphics. While the appearance changed in 89 years, the importance to Sailors remained a constant according to Marie Johnston, All Hands editor from 1986-2011. "Even from its initial, non-flashy beginnings, it was out there to support the Sailor and let them know what was going on," she said. "All Hands - when I hear that, it says, 'There's something for everyone here.'" The archive homepage offers a quick history of the magazine's appearance. The main feature is a slideshow with each different style of All Hands throughout the 89-year run. Clicking on a particular cover from the slideshow will take the user to other issues from that year. Although the site is active and ready for browsing, there are still more features scheduled to come online to make it even more interactive. The next phase will include a search tool allowing visitors to use keywords to search for specific content. u.s. Naval hospital Naples Celebrates a decade of dedication From USNH Naples Public Affairs

U.S. Naval Hospital (USNH) Naples commemorated its 10year anniversary at Support Site with a cake-cutting ceremony, speakers and gifts, Aug. 22. Capt. Matthew Pommer Jr., commanding officer of USNH Naples, opened the ceremony by thanking the community for its ongoing support. Capt. Scott Gray, commanding officer of Naval Support Activity (NSA) Naples, was the featured speaker. Guests in attendance were treated to the Naval Forces Europe Band’s rendition of “Happy Birthday” during a ceremonial cake cutting that signified and celebrated the strong connection that the hospital has with the NSA community and with the host nation, Italy. Navy medicine has been a presence in Naples, Italy, since World War II, and an actual U.S. Naval hospital, first located in Agnano, then at Gricignano, has served the Naples area since 1968. The current hospital opened its doors a decade ago; and the first patient, a World War II Navy steward named John Parker, was seen on July 21, 2003. Ten years and thousands of patient visits later, the staff ’s dedication and commitment to providing safe, high-quality care is stronger than ever. “During the past decade, the hospital has logged over 660,000 patient visits and delivered nearly 2,000 babies,” said Gray. The hospital’s success can be attributed to its dedicated and diverse 500-member staff, which is a blend of active duty military, active duty reservists, general schedule and local national staff, contractors, and volunteers. Gray emphasized that the provision of high-quality care can be credited to more than a beautiful, state-of-the-art facility. “This facility and her branch clinic houses some of the most dedicated and professional people in the armed forces,” he said. “They keep us – the active duty, NATO counterparts, DoD civilians, family members, retirees and more – healthy and happy. hospital staff, the goals of the armed forces would be difficult to achieve.” In recognition of the hospital’s 10th anniversary, several ancient artifacts from the Il Museo Archeoligico dell'Agro Atellano, including amphoras, pots, ointment bottles, and jugs, were donated to the hospital as birthday gifts. “These artifacts symbolize the ongoing friendship and connection that the U.S. Navy has with the Italian people, a bond that will last long into the future,” said Dottoressa Elena Laforgia, the museum’s curator. The birthday gifts are displayed in the ruins of a 2,500 year-old well that was discov-

ered during the excavation of the Support Site prior to the construction of the hospital. During construction, the well, located in the northeast corner of the hospital, was preserved and incorporated into the design of the facility as a tribute to the history and heritage that lies beneath the floors. With the incorporation of the artifacts and the rededication of the “Roman Well,” the hospital strengthened ties to its host nation. The staff has a matchless opportunity to work in a unique environment that blends modern-day technology with the rich history of the region. The hospital’s celebration highlighted the key elements of what makes USNH Naples so successful: the dedication of its people, the host-nation culture, and a deep appreciation of naval heritage.

Navy fitness reports and evaluations continue to change as Navy priorities and requirements evolve; with each change comes a clear definition of what it takes to be a 5.0 Sailor. Now it will take more. Navy Leaders need to do more to prevent sexual assault and harassment, according to Vice Adm. William Moran, chief of naval personnel. This has prompted an update to the way annual evaluations are written, holding Navy leaders responsible for developing a climate of transparency and accountability. A recently released NAVADMIN, effective immediately, lays out these changes. "The accountability aspect of that is, in part, dealt with in how we hold people accountable in writing, and also give credit to people in writing for those that are doing great things in the fleet," said Moran. With the new instruction, Sailors will be held accountable on their evaluations and fitness reports for command climate. For officers, petty officers, and below, the blocks set aside for Command or Organizational Climate/Equal Opportunity (block 35 enlisted, 34 officer) and Military Bearing/Character (block 36 enlisted, 35 officer) will be tied to sexual assault and harassment prevention efforts. For the chiefs, this is related to Professionalism (block 35) and Character (block 37). To receive high marks in these categories, Sailors will have to prove their efforts in promoting a positive command climate.

The change to the evaluations and fitness reports show that sexual assault prevention is more than an annual training topic. It requires Sailors to be proactive in their approach at all times. "It is the Navy's way of showing Sailors that we're serious," said Ens. Melissa Caban, on the USS Hue City (CG-66). Caban said that during the six years she spent as an enlisted Sailor, the annual sexual assault prevention training got her to the point where she is not embarrassed to talk about it with her Sailors. "It is to make sure that the commanding officers and those that are responsible for writing fitness reports and evals are addressing the climate and the culture of commands that are encouraging ... supporting the right kind of behaviors that we all would agree are part of who we are as Sailors and that are consistent with our core values," said Moran. "Now that we are a more conscious Navy," said Hospitalman Carlos Rangel-Manjia, at the Medical Education Training Campus, "we know what the

indicators [of sexual assault] are, how to communicate it in the command, be able to report it if it happens, or report it if one becomes a victim of it." Regarding sexual assault prevention, Logistics Specialist 1st Class (EXW) Jamie Osborne, at the Pre-Commissioning Detachment Zumwalt (DDG1000), said, "It's coming along; it's just not there yet." "It's a beginning," said RangelMajia. "We still have to be more preventive. "Sailors will look at this and say, 'are there ways that I can get involved. That I can help to a greater degree - allow me to contribute to an overall positive command climate,'" said Moran. "The more we stand behind, and we help push, and we talk about it, the more people will understand how serious it all really is," Osborne said. This puts emphasis on the Sailor-every Sailor-to work hard to improve command climate. "We want commanders to be held accountable and to hold their Sailors accountable for both the positive and the negative aspects of creating the right command climates," said Moran.

LT DAVID DOW Lt. David Dow reported to U.S. Naval Hospital Naples in the summer of 2011. For his undergraduate education, Dow attended Villanova University and then went on to the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine for his graduate degree. After graduation from dental school, he completed a residency at Naval Health Clinic Great Lakes. His previous assignments include serving as Senior Dental Officer for ESG 7 in Sasebo, Japan and also as Health Services Department Head on the USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49) and USS Germantown (LSD 42). He is currently the Dental department head at Naval Branch Health Clinic Capodichino and was recently selected for specialty training in Endodontics. Even if you haven’t seen Dow until now, you may recognize his voice from his Dental Health Tips segment on AFN Radio. He loves his time in Naples, “I’m happy to be here because my heritage is Sicilian and I have the opportunity to reconnect with my Italian roots!”

HM3 SHANE MCCARTY Hailing from the Buckeye State of Ohio, Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Shane McCarty is a bright and enthusiastic member of the Orthopedic Clinic. Upon completion of Basic Hospital Corps School, McCarty proceeded to attend Orthopedic Specialty School in San Antonio where he gained his skills to be an accomplished and confident orthopedic technician. With 6 years of experience behind him, McCarty is an excellent role model for his shipmates. Since his arrival to U.S. Naval Hospital Naples a year ago, he has been credited by his peers as a dedicated Assistant Command Fitness Leader and a strong team player. With a history of volunteering with MWR sporting events, McCarty is not afraid to sacrifice his off-duty time and effort into doing something meaningful. He is also interested in pursuing a career in special operations forces and has been training hard towards his goal. He enjoys traveling and sightseeing in Europe and according to him, “Whether it is traveling or sporting, it is uniquely interesting in Italy, and I am enjoying it very much.” An aficionado of cars and their mechanics, McCarty enjoys driving, especially Italy’s more scenic roads, and regularly tuning his car at the base hobby shop. His other hobbies include writing songs and playing guitar.

Those who have been to the twin Islands of Procida and Ischia know that both have unmatched beauty in all of the Campania coasts. This set the stage for a truly amazing trip full of adventure, curiosity and exploration. With the help of watchful, dedicated and helpful chaperones, the boating experience was sure to be a hit with students. The beginning of the day was an uneventful car ride full of small talk and whispers, while the buzz of a Nintendo game filled the silence. Turns and twists jolted the car as we passed a centuries-old cobblestone road. Finally, fresh air gushed in as the door opened and the Junior Club Beyond group was waiting. Together, we passed through to a boating dock and waited for our rubber speedboats. As soon as we received out boats we realized that ours was faster and smiles were passed as we slammed against the waves. After arriving at our first destination, we split up with some going to eat and others heading to the beach. After a short swim, the students dried in the sun on the rocks and headed onto the next beach with a quick stop for a delicious lunch. After pizza, we set out for beach fun and a quick swim before. Here’s a reason it is amazing to live where we are. You can go to the beach anywhere, but we did something far different. We went rock diving. Many students jumped off the 5-foot jump, some did the 10-foot jump, and few, including myself, did the 25-foot jump. Afterwards, we went for gelato and headed back to wrap everything up. The seniors and

the juniors decided to switch boats at the end of the day to give the fast boat to the juniors. We were riding back and literally 5 minutes from the dock, we stopped. It turns out our gas was gone and we were temporarily stranded. The juniors were fine on the shore. Arturo called the parents to give notice that we would all be a little late while we sat around telling jokes, talking, and getting to know each other better. It was about 45 minutes later that the boat owners came and set off with us to the port. The sun was setting and the colors mixed with the ocean to give a truly magnificent site. To be honest, I was glad the boat stopped. I was able to make new friends and renew some older friendships. When we returned, there were many stories to be shared on both sides with a finale of a beautiful orange moon unlike anything I had ever seen. This trip, for me, made my weekend and I hope to see more coming up in the future. Here’s to a return to the mysterious waters of Procida and Is

Obtaining your Sojourner Permit Italian law requires all foreign personnel working or living within Italy, other than an active-duty member under military orders, to obtain a Sojourner Permit within eight days of arrival in Italy. This is different from a visa, which is merely an approval for entry into the country. All applicants over 14 years of age must apply in person, as each person's signature is required at the time of application. NATIONALS OF ANY STATE OF THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITY COMING TO ITALY DO NOT REQUIRE ANY VISA OR SOJOURNER PERMIT. Tiger Sharks Complete Summer Swim Program By Jamie Yenco, Tiger Sharks Public Relations

The Naples Tiger Sharks ended their annual summer swim program with a competitive intra-squad meet Aug. 15. “The intra squad meet is the culminating event for the NTS summer program. We had 77 swimmers participate in the program this year,” said Jane Higgins, Tiger Sharks head coach. Over the summer, the swim team and coaches took extra steps to keep their annual summer swim program running. Due to the unforeseen pool closure at the Capodichino pool facility, the team took advantage of closed pool days at the Support Site to conduct the program. The team was able to hold their meets without interfering with the pool schedule. “At the meet, swimmers had the opportunity to put into practice what they learned over the summer, competing in 25 and 50 meter sprint events,” said Higgins. “This was the very first competition for 22 swimmers. It was extremely exciting and rewarding to see the new swimmers compete, with their strokes coming together very nicely.” “For our returning swimmers, this was a super opportunity to see where they stand amongst their teammates,” said Higgins. “Many swimmers were turning in some of their fastest times and that's with in

water starts.” “The Summer Swim program was truly wonderful watching week in and week out, these kids put everything they had into it,” said Dave Snodgrass, Naples Tiger Sharks president. “Then to watch them display what they learned at the meet, was just breath taking." The team will travel to Sigonella and compete against the Swordfish Sept. 8 for their

annual “Remembrance Meet,” which honors the men, women and children killed in the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. “The coaches can't wait to see what they will do off the starting blocks,” added Higgins. The official swim season and practices started Monday and ends Feb. 16 with the European Forces Swim League Championships in Eindhoven, Netherlands.
