Protect Yourself When Riding All motorcycle and scooter operators are reminded to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when riding. The Navy requires riders to wear a 3/4 DOT-approved helmet, eye protection (note: a windshield on a motorcycle is not considered adequate eye protection), gloves, sturdy over-the-ankle footwear, long sleeves and long pants – at a minimum. Bright-colored clothing is also recommended. Riders are also required to wear retroreflective material during inclement weather and at night. For more information, contact the NSA Naples Safety Office at DSN: 626-3147 or 081-568-3147. No Routine Optometry Services Until September Starting Monday, June 4, routine optometry services will be unavailable at U.S. Naval Hospital Naples until Sept. 1 due to a staffing gap. The schedule for routine appointments is currently full through June 3. In case of an eye-care emergency, please go directly to the hospital emergency room or dial 911 on base. To reach the naval hospital while off base, community members should dial 081-568-4911. Host nation emergency responders can be contacted by dialing 118 from an Italian phone line. For more information on optometry services, contact the clinic’s front desk at DSN: 629-6386 or 081-811-6386. You can also check out the hospital’s Facebook page by typing “U.S. Naval Hospital Naples” in the search window.
