Janitorial Strike at Support Site A strike by janitorial services personnel for DECA at Support Site is currently anticipated for tomorrow morning, Nov. 1. Do not interfere or interact with those personnel exercising their right to strike. Report to base security any inappropriate actions immediately. Potential Phishing Danger Alert: MyPay DFAS LES A third-party smartphone app named "MyPay DFAS LES" is being advertised to connect to DFAS on your behalf to access your MyPay account. This app is not sponsored by the Department of Defense (DOD) or the U.S. Government. It presents a serious risk of compromising account information and theft of funds. While giving your MyPay account information to strangers is never considered a good idea, the app presents itself as an official DFAS service and 50,000 members are estimated to have installed the app. Similar apps have been found for Android and iPhone. Do not download this app or provide any PII/Privacy information to unknown or unconfirmed sources. Participation Encouraged in SAPR Survey The 2013 Navywide sexual assault survey is short and completely anonymous. It can be accessed from any web-enabled computer, tablet or smartphone at www.donsapro.navy.mil/donsas.html . The password for all military participants is “2013SURVEY”, and the survey will be available through Jan. 6. Fall/Winter Safety Stand Down Fall/Winter Safety Stand Downs for area commands have begun and will continue through Nov. 18. New Mandatory Safety Training Now Available on ESAMS OSHA-mandated training on the Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) to align with the United Nations' Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) has been uploaded to ESAMS (Course ID #4648). Classroom training will be coming in November. Training must be completed by Dec. 1. Consumer Product Recall of APC 7 and 8 Series Surge Protectors APC 7 and 8 Series surge protectors manufactured from 1993 to 2002 have been recalled as they can overheat, smoke and melt, posing a fire hazard. The model and serial numbers are located on a label on the bottom of the surge protector. The first two numbers in the serial number indicate the year of manufacture and are included in the recall if they are


93 through 02. The letters APC and the words Personal, Professional, Performance, or Network are printed on them. Personnel having these recalled surge protectors should stop using them immediately. Air Conditioning Shutoff Schedule The A/C shutoff schedule is below for Support Site housing. This procedure does not require entry to any units, and families will not be disturbed during the process. Support Site Phase I units have individual heaters which allow for heat anytime utilizing the thermostat. Nov. 4 – 8: Crane Operations at Capo Beginning on 4 Nov until 8 Nov, there will be crane operations between buildings 440 and 442 at Capo to remove the temporary trailers located inside the C4I fence. The walkway will be sectioned off starting from the turnstiles to the corner of building 442 nearest the spine. Personnel needing access into C4I from the spine should go through the Quarter Deck (admin I) and through the courtyard into Admin III. Nov. 5: Holiday Greeting Card Contest The Command Holiday Greeting Card Contest is beginning with plywood available for pickup on Nov. 5. Create a 4-ft by 8-ft plywood holiday card and enter to win prizes. From Dec. 4 to Jan. 3, cards will be displayed along Support Site Main Street. Completed cards must be turned in by Dec. 3. Nov. 11, 14: Dental Clinic Retiree Appreciation Days In honor of Veterans Day, the US Naval Hospital Naples Dental Clinic has set aside Monday, Nov. 11, and Thursday, Nov. 14, for military retiree dental exams and cleanings. As there are only a limited number of appointments available, this service is restricted to U.S. military retirees only. Retirees should call the Support Site Dental Clinic at 081-8116007 to make an appointment, and plan on arriving 15 minutes before their appointment time. Please be advised that treatment needs identified during a routine exam and cleaning may not be available at our facility. Nov 13: Navy Team Tryouts for Army v. Navy Flag Football Game Tryouts for the Navy team in the annual battle between Army and Navy football this year will take place on Nov. 13 for a Dec. 7 game.
