Free Shuttle Service to Carney Park MWR will provide a free bus shuttle service for single Sailors, TLA families and all U.S. ID card holders to Carney Park from the Support Site and Capodichino from July 25 to Aug. 24. Seats will be filled on a first come, first served basis. The bus will depart from the Capo Inn stop at 10:15 a.m., the Support Site TLA bus stop at 10:45 a.m. and the Carney Park parking lot across from pool at 6:30 p.m. for its return trip. Community members can spend a day or weekend at Carney Park to enjoy the pool, picnic areas, golf course, cabin rental or other recreational gear/programs on site. Single Sailors with a Liberty card can take advantage of specific discounts at the park, including free pool access and discounted golf course fees. Riders must be at least 16 years old to ride unaccompanied. For more information, call 081-526-1579. Reduced MWR Prices for E-5 and below, Including Family Members Beginning on Friday, Aug. 1, E-5 and below and their family members can take advantage of reduced MWR prices. Reduced prices include the Support Site and Carney Park swimming pools being $2 (4 years old and under are free); Reel Time 2 Cinema having $1 off tickets and Strikers having $1 off game prices. CFC-O Family Support and Youth Programs Solicitations Family Support and Youth Programs (FSYP) is soliciting organizations that would be interested in the funds raised via the Combined Federal Campaign - Overseas. These funds are to improve the quality of life at overseas military installations. The board will convene the last week of August and make determinations of award levels. Organizations may solicit the FSYP committee for funds using the application enclosed in the instruction, which can be found by going to www.cnic.navy.mil/Naples and entering 'NAVSUPPACT NAPLES INST 7280.1A' in the search bar. Applications for the funds must be forwarded to NSA Naples Command Master Chief Ashley Drake at ashley.drake@eu.navy.mil no later than 4 p.m. on Aug. 22. Navy College Office Language Testing The Defense Language Aptitude Battery (DLAB) will be offered on Friday, Aug. 8. The Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT) will be offered on Thursday, Aug. 21 and Sept. 25. Seats are limited based on the number of computer workstations. Interested persons must possess a One Net Account to test. Please arrange and confirm you have obtained One Net access prior to arriving for test. Spooktacular Food Vendors, Event Volunteers and Booth Decorators Needed Spooktacular is scheduled for Oct. 31 at the Support Site. Trick or Treat booth decorators can be families, private organizations or groups and are needed to decorate booths and hand out candy (provided by MWR). There will be a best decorated booth contest. Volunteers (teens welcome) are needed for the hay ride as drivers and story tellers, to distribute tickets, to decorate the event and to assist in the activities. Child Maltreatment Response Class to be Offered at USNH Naples The Armed Forces Center for Child Protection will offer "Multidisciplinary Approach to Child Maltreatment Evaluations and Investigations" at USNH Naples from Aug. 5-7. All aspects of child maltreatment to include recognition, evaluation, investigation, acute management, and referrals for treatment will be covered. Attendance is recommended for healthcare professionals, law enforcement, legal professionals, social workers, family advocacy and parent support coordinators, teachers, daycare workers, and Chaplains, and will provide up to 18 CME/CNE/CEUs. Now-Aug. 22: Registration Open for Youth Fall Flag Football and Soccer Leagues Sign up now for the upcoming fall soccer season, for children 5-18 years old, and flag football, for children 9-18 years. Cost is $60 for first child and 20 percent discount for additional siblings. A mandatory team assessment will be held for children 9 years and up on Saturday, Aug. 23 at Carney Park at 10 a.m. Register at the Youth Center, Capo and Support Site CDCs. Now-Aug. 29: Youth Fall Gymnastics Registration Registration is now open for children who participated in the spring season and runs through Aug. 15. New student registration dates are Aug. 26-29, however prior to registration, they must be assessed. Assessments are held Aug. 26 and 27 at the Youth Center gym from 2:45 to 4:45 p.m. All classes will be held from Sept. 8 to Dec. 12 with various age groups, skill levels and costs. Aug. 1: USO Single Sailor Pool Party USO Naples is hosting a Pool Party at the Support Site pool for all single and unaccompanied service members on Friday, Aug. 1. The free event will feature musical entertainment from AFN, a wet T-shirt relay, a cannon ball contest, free food and prizes for all participants. For more information, please contact the USO at DSN 626-5713. The event will be hosted from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Base shuttle service from Capodichino to Support Site is available. Aug. 4: Auditions for “Hansel and Gretel” with Missoula Children’s Theater Approximately 50 roles are available for students in 1st-12th grade for the Child and Youth Programs (CYP) and Missoula Children’s Theater production of “Hansel and Gretel.” Auditions will take place from 10 a.m. to noon at the Naples High School cafeteria. Participants must complete a CYP registration form (available at auditions).


The performance will take place on Friday, Aug. 8 at 6 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. The performance is free, but space is limited. The entire community is invited. Aug. 5: National Night Out at Support Site The Naples Area National Night Out will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 5 from 5:15 to 8:30 p.m. The event will start with a parade from the fire station to the north soccer fields by going up and down Blue Ridge Blvd and then down Arleigh Burke Way. The event is devoted to promoting community crime prevention awareness. NSA Naples Emergency Management will also be on hand for alert notification registrations. Games and food will be provided for attendees, as well as displays and participation from Italian law enforcement. Aug. 5: Naples Christian Homeschoolers Association Panel Discussion The Naples Christian Homeschoolers Association will hold a panel discussion led by experiences homeschoolers on Tuesday, Aug. 5 at the Support Site Fellowship Hall. “So You Think You Want to Homeschool...” will begin at 6:30 p.m. and is intended to help with planning and organization, what to teach, record keeping, common plans. Aug. 6-7: Fleet Engagement Team Visit on Career and Community Management A team of Navy Personnel Command and BUPERS personnel from the Military Community Management and Career Management departments will conduct Fleet Engagement Team briefs to service members on Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 6-7, at the Capodichino theater. The visit is intended to help command leadership teams with current manpower issues and programs, as well as promote the professional and personal development of our Sailors. They will focus on Navy force-shaping initiatives, to include career Navigator/Career Waypoint, Enlisted Community Health, Enlisted Early Transition Program and the detailing process. Aug. 10-14: Vacation Bible School at Support Site The Support Site Chapel would like to invite children to participate in this year’s Vacation Bible School program, which includes interactive Bible fun, music, super science, KIDVID Cinema and crafts, mission work, untamed games, dinner at critter cafe and more. “Weird Animals” will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Support Site Chapel from Sunday, Aug. 10 to Thursday, Aug. 14. Aug. 23: Annual Mud Run at Carney Park “Let’s Get Dirty” at the Annual Mud Run at Carney Park. Registration begins at 7 a.m. with the 2K Run starting at 8 a.m., followed by the 5K Run. Fee is $5 and includes mud pit and obstacles. T-shirts cost $5 each and are limited to the first 300 participants. Pre-Registration Open for 5K Color It Up Fun Run This year’s Color It Up Fun Run, open to all children and adults, will be held at the Day For Kids Event at Carney Park on Saturday, Sept. 20. Pre-register by Sept. 2 and pay $13 per adult and $8 per child (17 years and under). Registration will continue from Sept. 3-20 at a cost of $15 per adult and $10 per child. Race is limited to 500 participants who will receive a T-shirt and their own color powder pouch.
