Command Sponsorship Available in Italy for Same-Sex Spouses Navy Personnel Command released a recent update allowing same-sex military spouses to move to U.S. bases in Italy as command-sponsored dependents. This new agreement with Italy means spouses and family members can receive special visa protections that allow them to stay in the country continuously. Service members can request command sponsorship through their reporting command. Unmanned Fitness Center at Capodichino Extends Authorized Users List Access to the Capodichino Unmanned Fitness Center in the Fit Zone gym during unmanned hours will be available to all active-duty service members, Reservists, and first responders (fire, police, etc.) effective Friday, Aug. 8. The updated registration forms are available for pick up at the Capodichino Fit Zone gym. The Navy Ball committee will begin selling tickets in September. Parents Night Out through the Child Development Center (CDC) will be held in conjunction with the Navy Ball; sign-ups will begin in September. Navy College Office Language Testing The Defense Language Aptitude Battery (DLAB) will be offered on Friday, Aug. 8. The Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT) will be offered on Thursday, Aug. 21 and Sept. 25. Seats are limited based on the number of computer workstations. Interested


persons must possess a One Net Account to test. Please arrange and confirm you have obtained One Net access prior to arriving for test. Pre-Registration Open for 5K Color It Up Fun Run This year’s Color It Up Fun Run, open to all children and adults, will be held at the Day For Kids Event at Carney Park on Saturday, Sept. 20. Pre-register by Sept. 2 and pay $13 per adult and $8 per child (17 years and under). Registration will continue from Sept. 320 at a cost of $15 per adult and $10 per child. Race is limited to 500 participants who will receive a T-shirt and their own color powder pouch. Registration Open for USO Dodge Ball Tournament and BBQ Registration is now open for 16 teams to take part in USO Naples’ first dodge ball tournament, which will be hosted on Thursday, Aug. 28. The tournament registration fee is $25 and the grand prize will include a trophy, medals and a $500 gift card for a command MWR fund or private organization of your choice. Teams can represent a command, a department, a private base recognized organization or a group of friends. Each team will be requested to have seven players (at least two members must be single or unaccompanied service members). Teams need a unique team name and a unifying article of choice (shoes, hats, shirts etc.). The deadline to enroll is Aug. 18. Now-Aug. 22: Registration Open for Youth Fall Flag Football and Soccer Leagues Sign up now for the upcoming fall soccer season, for children 5-18 years old, and flag football, for children 9-18 years. Cost is $60 for first child and 20 percent discount for additional siblings. A mandatory team assessment will be held for children 9 years and up on Saturday, Aug. 23 at Carney Park at 10 a.m. Register at the Youth Center, Capo and Support Site CDCs. Now-Aug. 29: Youth Fall Gymnastics Registration Registration is now open for children who participated in the spring season and runs through Aug. 15. New student registration dates are Aug. 26-29, however prior to registration, they must be assessed. Assessments are held Aug. 26 and 27 at the Youth Center gym from 2:45 to 4:45 p.m. All classes will be held from Sept. 8 to Dec. 12 with various age groups, skill levels and costs. Aug. 8: U.S. Naval Hospital Naples Decon Response Team Conducting Training The U.S. Naval Hospital Naples Decontamination Emergency Response Team will be conducting First Receiver Operation Training on Friday, Aug. 8th near the Emergency entrance. The training will teach hospital staff the life-saving skills required to triage, initiate field treatment, decontaminate and save victims from exposure to Chemical, Biological, Radiological/Nuclear (CBRN), or hazardous materials. The participants will be wearing protective suits and masks during the exercise and will process a staff member and a mannequin through the decontamination tent to demonstrate their skills. The public is more than welcome to observe the drill if they are in the area.


Aug 8: Missoula Children’s Theater Presents “Hansel and Gretel” Approximately 65 children will be participating in a production of “Hansel and Gretel” at the Naples High School cafeteria at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 8. The Missoula Children’s Theater and Child and Youth Programs invite the entire community to this free event. Space is limited, so please arrive early. Aug 8: Concert Under The Stars with Flagship Flagship, the U.S. Naval Forces Europe Rock Band, will perform a concert from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Support Site Central Park on Friday, Aug. 8. Aug. 10-14: Vacation Bible School at Support Site The Support Site Chapel would like to invite children to participate in this year’s Vacation Bible School program, which includes interactive Bible fun, music, super science, KIDVID Cinema and crafts, mission work, untamed games, dinner at critter cafe and more. “Weird Animals” will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Support Site Chapel from Sunday, Aug. 10 to Thursday, Aug. 14. Children entering Kindergarten through 6th grade are invited to attend and 7th grade to adults are welcome to volunteer. Aug 14: University of San Diego Men’s Basketball Team Visits Naples The San Diego Toreros basketball team players will hold two youth basketball clinics and a 40-minute game with the NSA Naples basketball team on Thursday, Aug. 14. The clinics and game will be held at the Naples High School. The free youth clinic for students entering Kindergarten through 6th grade will be from 1 to 2 p.m. and the one for grades 7-12 will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Registration for the youth clinics begin one hour before their start time. A parent or guardian must be present at registration, drop-off and pick-up for both clinics. The Toreros team will play two 20-minute halves against the NSA Naples Basketball Team at 5 p.m. The game is free and open to the entire community, with an autograph session to follow. Aug. 14: “Paws 2 Read” Program and USO Free BBQ USO and its volunteer committee will host a Free BBQ for area military children during the MWR’s “Paws 2 Read” Library event on Thursday, Aug. 14. Aug. 15: 4-Person Cross Country Golf Scramble Play golf with your friends on a Friday afternoon. Golfers will play from all new tee and green locations. Aug. 19-21: American Soccer Club of Naples Tryouts The American Soccer Club (ASC) of Naples will be holding tryouts for the upcoming season Aug. 19-21 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The tryouts will take place at the NSA Naples Support Site north soccer fields near the skate park. All U.S. and NATO ID cardholder dependents between the ages of 6 and 19 are eligible to take part in the tryouts. Player selections will be based on the following criteria: athletic ability/agility, technical soccer skills, ability to follow direction, positive attitude, good sportsmanship and the dedication of the player/parent to be part of an ASC team for the season. All children attending tryouts will be required to wear proper athletic clothes, soccer spikes, shin-guards, and a full water bottle. It is requested that players attend all three sessions of tryouts. There is no cost for tryouts. Aug. 21, 2014: NMCRS Baby Basics Class A monthly class on newborn care and other useful tips for expecting parents is scheduled to be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Aug. 21. The class is offered by Navy Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS) Visiting Nurses and is open to U.S. military, civilians and NATO ID cardholders. It will be held at the NMCRS office located in room G-16 of the Admin II building at Capodichino. Registration begins at 7 a.m. with the 2K Run starting at 8 a.m., followed by the 5K Run. Fee is $5 and includes mud pit and obstacles. Aug. 25-26: Technical Track Workshop at FFSC Fleet and Family Support Center is offering a Technical Track two-day workshop, Aug. 25-26. The workshop is designed to assist individuals interested in pursuing a technical career after the military through defining technical career goals, identifying required credentials, finding career technical training opportunities and utilizing VA education benefits. Interested participants do not need to be in the process of transitioning to attend this class. Free Shuttle Service to Carney Park MWR will provide a free bus shuttle service for single Sailors, TLA families and all U.S. ID card holders to Carney Park from the Support Site and Capodichino from July 25 to Aug. 24. Seats will be filled on a first come, first served basis. The bus will depart from the Capo Inn stop at 10:15 a.m., the Support Site TLA bus stop at 10:45 a.m. and the Carney Park parking lot across from pool at 6:30 p.m. for its return trip. Community members can spend a day or weekend at Carney Park to enjoy the pool, picnic areas, golf course, cabin rental or other recreational gear/programs on site. Single Sailors with a Liberty card can take advantage of specific discounts at the park, including free pool access and discounted golf course fees. Riders must be at least 16 years old to ride unaccompanied. For more information, call 081-526-1579. Spooktacular Food Vendors, Event Volunteers and Booth Decorators Needed Spooktacular is scheduled for Oct. 31 at the Support Site. Trick or Treat booth decorators can be families, private organizations or groups and are needed to decorate booths and hand out candy (provided by MWR). There will be a best decorated booth contest. Volunteers (teens welcome) are needed for the hay ride as drivers and story tellers, to distribute tickets, to decorate the event and to assist
