SAT Prep Workshop for Naples High School Students Child and Youth Programs is offering a six-day workshop at the Naples High School Library from 6-9 p.m. for students registered for an upcoming SAT exam. The cost is $75, which includes 18 hours of classroom instruction by licensed instructor, online practice exams and official Study Board SAT Study Guide. The workshop is scheduled to be held Sept. 15, 17, 22, 24, 29 and Oct. 1. Space is limited to 30 participants so register only if you can attend all six dates. New Support Site Pavilion Reservation System Pavilions and gazebos on the Support Site can be reserved through a form available at the Support Site Child Development Center (CDC) or by emailing Christopher.kasparek@eu.navy.mil. The requester will receive a confirmation through the Pavilion Reservation Calendar, which should be printed and taken to the event. The reservations are not for playground areas. Individuals can make pavilion reservations 60 days in advance, command or private organization events can be made 180 days in advance, and large functions (concerts in the park, National Night Out, etc.) can be made one year in advance. Base Pool Hours of Operation Throughout September The Capodichino base pool is now open from 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Support Site base pool will remain open for recreational swimming on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 5: A Night of Prayer and Praise with PWOC Join other women in the community with A Night of Prayer and Praise hosted by Protestant Women of the Chapel on Friday, Sept. 5 at the Support Site Chapel. The event begins at 7 p.m. and will not be offering childcare. It will be an evening of praise, worship and prayer. For more information, contact the chapel at DSN 629-4600. Sept. 5, 19: Navy Second Class Swimmer Qualification Testing Navy Second-Class Swimmer qualification testing will take place on Friday, Sept. 5 and Friday, Sept. 19. It is open to active-duty personnel. Requirements include 25m each of front crawl, back crawl, breast-stroke, elementary backstroke; abandon ship (tower) jump into deep water; timed prone and supine floats. Sept. 7: Contemporary Christian Service’s Ministry Fair There will be a Contemporary Christian Service Ministry Fair held at the Support Site Community Center on Sunday, Sept. 7 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Find out how to use your talents and have an impact in your surrounding community. Opportunities to serve include dance, music, AWANA club, Protestant Women of the Chapel, Club Beyond and many more! Sept. 8: USO and Religious Ministries Sailor Outreach BBQ Service members are invited to the Capo Barracks Barbecue Pit for a free barbecue lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 8. There will be information on programs available for Sailors in the Naples area, as well as a drawing for a free USO Mini Cruise of the Amalfi Coast tour. The Lifeguard Training Course will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Support Site pool. Cost is $99.00 per person and includes all required materials. Sept. 9: Plain White T’s to Perform at Support Site The Plain White T’s will be performing a concert for the military community on Tuesday, Sept. 9. The concert is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. at the Support Site’s Central Park with a pre-show beginning at 6:30 p.m. There will be an autograph session following the show. Food and beverages will be sold at the event and the performance will be held in the Support Site Fitness Forum in case of inclement weather. Sept. 9: Naples Elementary School Open House Naples Elementary School will hold an Open House on Tuesday, Sept. 9 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Parents are invited to meet their children’s teacher(s), discuss classroom routines and expectations, and get important information on school programs and the school’s methods of communication. Sept. 13: USO Jazz Under the Stars Join the USO at the Village Forum Square on Support Site from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13 for an evening of jazz with a Big Band ensemble. The 19 piece Allied Forces Jazz Diplomats, from U.S. Naval Forces Europe Band, will perform. Sept. 17: Transitioning Process Brief for Service Members and Spouses The Fleet and Family Support Center will be holding a standalone brief on Wednesday, Sept. 17 from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Capodichino Chapel. It is designed for service members and their spouses who are transitioning soon, retiring with TRICARE or Survivor Benefits Plan questions, or have questions regarding the check-out process or their Veterans Affairs (VA) benefits. Representatives from Personnel Support Detachment (PSD), TRICARE, Survivor Benefits Plan and Veterans Affairs will be there to answer

Sept. 17: Child Find Developmental Screening at Elementary School The first child find screening will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at the Naples Elementary School. Any child between the ages of 3- 5 can have a free developmental screening. Pre-registration is required for the screening. Sept. 19: German Oktoberfest 2014 at JFC Naples The German military community is scheduled to host the German Octoberfest 2014 on Friday, Sept. 19 between 11:30 a.m. and midnight at the Motor Pool of the Allied Joint Forces Command’s Base in Lago Patria. All U.S. service members, NATO personnel, and their families are welcome. Sept. 26: “Women’s Resiliency Workshop” The Chaplains Religious Enrichment Development Operation (CREDO) team from Navy Region Europe, Africa, Southwest Asia will be hosting a Women’s Resiliency Workshop to celebrate ordinary women in an extraordinary way. Sept. 13: Trekking Day with NOR Center Put on your hiking boots and join the NOR for an incredible day on one of the most beautiful hiking trails in the Campania Region. Must be 15 years or older to participate (ages 15-17 must be accompanied by an adult or legal guardian). Cost is $30 per person and includes guide and transportation from the Support Site. Wear sturdy hiking boots and bring snacks, lunch, water and euros for incidentals. The minimum/ maximum participants for the tour is 5/8. For more information, call DSN 629-4947 or 081-811-4947. Sept. 13, 27: Parents’ Day and Night Out Parents can take a day off on Saturday, Sept. 13 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or a night off on Saturday, Sept. 27 from 4 p.m. to midnight. The Child Development Center will be open so parents can enjoy the time with spouses, family or friends. Cost is $4 per hour. Children accepted are from ages 6 weeks to 6th grade. Sept. 15-19: Get Golf Ready in 5 Days Learn the fundamentals of the golf swing for woods and irons, course etiquette, how to putt, chip and pitch. There is a 10 a.m. or a 5 p.m. session available. The course costs $99 per student (16 years and older), includes all equipment and instruction by our PGA Pro. A minimum of three students is required to offer the class.
